Outstanding service from Palms Garage Doors!…read more After I asked for garage service through yelp a few businesses started reaching out to me about my garage door issue. After comparing reviews I decided to hire Palms Garage Doors. I provided all of the pertinent information regarding my garage door issue. Then they proceeded to set up a time slot based off my preference. I requested for the 1-3pm slot. The technician, Geva, arrived close to 230pm which met the 1-3pm slot I requested for. After meeting w/Geva who I learned was also a veteran of the armed forces like myself ...but from another country which was impressive after sharing his combat experience w/me. He proceeded to troubleshoot & diagnose the issue after I advised him of the issue (not opening/closing). After he was done...he advised me that the driver belt & motor were bad...he even showed me the worn out driver belt. The motor we currently have didn't have a backup battery(outdated system) & wasn't properly working even after Geva adjusted the setting. So after discussing my options w/Geva I decided to have the motor & driver belt replaced. So I opted for the standard smart lift master w/the driver belt as opposed to the chain linked one. He then proceeded to work (disassembly & installation). After Geva completed w/the installation he went on & started testing the garage. As soon as he closed it using the opener I was impressed w/the slower speed & closed smoothly. He then opened it & it was the same result. He then proceeded to instruct me to download the app which will enable me to control the garage door ...which I've never done before. It's definitely advanced from what I'm use to since now it not only allows me to open it from my phone but there's a built in video camera which will sense anyone in the garage while the garage opens & closes. Overall, I was impressed with everything that Geva provided w/his outstanding service. It feels like a brand new garage door even though the motor, drive belt, & track were the only ones replaced. My garage spring randomly broke over the memorial day weekend. I didn't realize it until about 7PM…read morewhen I sent out a quote to a bunch of vendors on Yelp. Safety Garage Door (and many others) replied within minutes, but the price and reviews of this one gave me confidence to move forward. It ended up costing $450 (I was initially told $300+) for 2 springs, but I guess we went with the higher end springs or something. The technician out there was mumbling a bit and didn't speak the best English but I just went along with it. Also, I heard from neighbors nearby that our builders used mismatched springs to begin with so I was already expecting that we would need longer springs. I think he offered me two options one with a lower cycle count and one with higher, I just chose the higher for a better peace of mind. In any case, he replaced my springs within 20 minutes, so he was out of there by 8:40PM on the Sunday evening before a 3 day weekend. I didn't feel that I was charged an extra price for the holiday/late night service, so I appreciated that.

Khalid was a great technician (5 out of 5 stars for service), but ultimately giving 3 stars for the business because of the lack of a way to contact them again. The phone number originally used to make the appointment didn't work, and then a different number was listed on the tracker website which also didn't work. I ORIGINAL- Service requested via phone call at 10:21pm, and a technician was scheduled to arrive at the home between 10:30-11:30pm and a status tracker provided via text for an estimated arrival time of 11:08pm. As I continued to check on the tracker, the estimated arrival time kept getting delayed, from 11:08 to 11:30 to 11:45 to currently 11:54pm. I tried calling and texting Safety Garage Door to follow up since there shouldn't be traffic at this time of night, but despite being advertised as a 24/7 business, the line keeps hanging up on me. Currently would not recommend this business. Will update as necessary, if a technician even arrives at this point.

We called Real Garage Doors (Larry) to come inspect the issue and even though he wasn't the one who did the original work, he took the time to inspect and explain what was wrong, and even stayed to help us speak with the other company so they understood what needed to be fixed since we had warranty and paid a lot for the springs. Larry was knowledgeable, honest, and genuine! He made sure we were taken care of even though he wasn't making a dime from the visit. We wish we had found Larry and Real Garage Doors first and would have saved ourselves a lot of frustration and money. We'll definitely be using them for any future garage door needs!
