After comparing reviews I decided to hire Palms Garage Doors. I provided all of the pertinent information regarding my garage door issue. Then they proceeded to set up a time slot based off my preference. I requested for the 1-3pm slot. The technician, Geva, arrived close to 230pm which met the 1-3pm slot I requested for. After meeting w/Geva who I learned was also a veteran of the armed forces like myself ...but from another country which was impressive after sharing his combat experience w/me. He proceeded to troubleshoot & diagnose the issue after I advised him of the issue (not opening/closing). After he was done...he advised me that the driver belt & motor were bad...he even showed me the worn out driver belt. The motor we currently have didn't have a backup battery(outdated system) & wasn't properly working even after Geva adjusted the setting. So after discussing my options w/Geva I decided to have the motor & driver belt replaced. So I opted for the standard smart lift master w/the driver belt as opposed to the chain linked one. He then proceeded to work (disassembly & installation). After Geva completed w/the installation he went on & started testing the garage. As soon as he closed it using the opener I was impressed w/the slower speed & closed smoothly. He then opened it & it was the same result. He then proceeded to instruct me to download the app which will enable me to control the garage door ...which I've never done before. It's definitely advanced from what I'm use to since now it not only allows me to open it from my phone but there's a built in video camera which will sense anyone in the garage while the garage opens & closes. Overall, I was impressed with everything that Geva provided w/his outstanding service. It feels like a brand new garage door even though the motor, drive belt, & track were the only ones replaced. This attention to detail signaled that he preferred to provide an honest, accurate number upfront, minimizing the chance the numbers would unpredictably change on-site. During the on-site visit, he immediately identified track alignment issues that other contractors completely missed or dismissed. It was clear that he operated at a higher standard. I also appreciated that Pro Line properly displayed its CSLB license number on the truck. For some contractors, trying to get their CSLB license number has been harder than trying to reach human customer support these days. An active, visible license proved they operate by the rules and have nothing to hide. His quote was competitive -- not the cheapest, but our initial interactions made the decision easy. And it paid off. David's work was meticulous. He brought his own folding table to organize his tools -- a level of workspace discipline I've never seen from a residential contractor on a project that only lasted a couple hours -- and spent over an hour carefully adjusting every part of the tracks, constantly checking the balance and distance of every segment until they were up to his standards. The door is now the smoothest and quietest it's been in many years. Though I had previously replaced most of the door rollers myself, I didn't touch the bottom ones under tension. David not only helped swap them out as part of the work, he upgraded them to long-stem rollers for extra stability and safety. When mounting the opener, he added an extra angle iron to the ceiling mount to supplement the builder's bare minimum support. Across all trades, David was easily the neatest contractor I've ever seen.
