We had a leaky bathtub faucet that was quickly filling buckets with hot water. We contacted this company and they said that they could come on a Tuesday between 12-2. This was fine. We just asked that they wear a mask and come through the garage, plus call us when they were on their way. This is where they get the 4 stars because they were very responsive and respectful of our wishes. Jimmy was the person who came out. He was very nice and determined that our cartridge just needed to be replaced. My problem came a few days later when we realized that the water came out molten lava hot and we had to turn it all the way to the 'H' before it became cool enough to use as bath water. We called them back and they again sent Jimmy. He said that the cartridge was just installed in reverse and that we just need to turn it. Um, what? How does that make sense? The cartridge should just be switched around in the wall. I don't get it. -2 stars because he was very kind and didn't charge us for part, but I'm annoyed that he was satisfied with an incomplete job. read more

Find a real plumber. We had a loose faucet spigot and a sinking sink. Martin arrived about 2 days after we called. The sinking/leaking sink issue he wouldn't get near. I understand his trepidation, he's a plumber not a reinstall repair guy. When the initial installation was done, the installer took a shortcut which led to the sink pulling away from the edges of the quartz. After Martin left, we called the original installers...they came as soon as they could and totally fixed the problem. Back to the faucet. Why Martin said he couldn't tighten it is he didn't have a tool that could fit and reach the spot. He took his phone, held it under the sink and made a video. Then he advised us that he couldn't fix the faucet problem either. I'll quote him: "As long as I get my $49. trip fee, I'm fine." Meaning he wasn't even enough of a plumber to repair a loose faucet. Later we got a real plumber recommendation from the quartz guys. He came very quickly and presto, he fixed the faucet, it's tight as a tick now. He didn't even have to take everything out of under the sink to do it. The Real Plumber also found TWO more problems Martin completely missed. He fixed those on the spot as well. read more

UPDATE: I contacted SDS today because I received notice in the mail I needed an inspection with the city regarding the AC installation. I told them since they didn't seal all the air registers or install the carbon monoxide/smoke alarms (they promised & per state code)- that the inspection would fail. SDS actually sent a tech out to my house immediately. Jose addressed, and fixed all the mistakes/oversites made by the install crew, and gave me the filter they promised me. I can't get myself to give Same Day Plumbing more than 2 stars... We had an issue with our plumbing. My wife was shutting off the water on the outside hose when the nozzle just came right off and water starting spraying. Thankfully, we found the shutoff. What happened is the plastic connector broke in half with half of the plastic connector still stuck in the pipe. Our friendly neighbors offered to help us fix it. We spent a couple of days trying to saw the damn thing off. There was grunting, growling, and very strong general dislike of plumbing and the Eastern european contractors who built our house. My neighbor said he'd find out what can be done. He thought perhaps paint thinner might do the trick. Of course, I immediately called my wife and instructed her to buy paint thinner. Three days later, some sawed off piece of beat up plastic was still stuck in the pipe. Fearing for my plants, I figured it was time to call the plumber. I called them Friday morning and they had a cancellation so they could be there by 10:30 AM. I showed them out back and they immediately saw the problem. One acted perplexed while the other one started rummaging through his quote book. Apparently he's not allowed to quote me a price without referring to this book. He tells me it'll cost $202. I ask him if he can do the job then and there and he hesitates but eventually responds in the affirmative. I sign on the dotted line and go inside to check my email. The guy's associate goes out to the car to get some tools. Long story short, about 4 minutes later they've completely removed the plastic and replaced the part with metal, which is much more durable. They ask me for the money and go off on their merry way... "FUCK! $200 for a 5-minute job?!?! These fuckers are making $4000/hour!!! ARGHH!!!" Anyway, what could I do, right? It reminds me of a joke I heard a while back: A mainframe computer on which everyone in the office depended suddenly went down. They tried everything but it still wouldn't work. Finally they decided to call in a high-powered computer consultant. He arrived, looked at the computer, took out a small hammer and tapped it on the side. Instantly the computer leapt back to life. Two days later the office manager received a bill from the consultant for $1,000. Immediately he called the consultant and exclaimed, "One thousand dollars for fixing that computer?! We've used Same Day Service for many years. We joined their preferred customers roles (think repeat business with a discount) We've always felt that we got prompt professional service. Same Day Service places a great deal of emphasis on a positive customer experience from the minute they answer the phone to the trailing marketing pieces their technicians leave the consumer. Our recent experience unwound all of that. It just wasn't the same Same Day Service. Miscommunication bordering on misrepresentation of products discussed for our project. Sloppy workmanship and questionable professional third party contractors and an HVAC guy quoting plumbing needs is bad. Shabby workmanship. Part of our project was buying a new water heater and bringing its installation up to today's Municipal Code requirements. The work looked as if someone's drunken brother-in-law installed it. I sent photos of the completed install and Same Day Service sent a 'supervisor' out. He agreed the job was messy. Shabby workmanship on top of wrong product. I wanted an in-line, on-demand hot water pump installed so as to get more immediate hot water when the taps were opened. "Yeah, yeah, yeah No problem, that'll add another $1500." What we got was an undersink unit in the master bath, similar to those sold at Home Depot for a couple hundred bucks. NOT an in-line pump to service our house but one bathroom. It didn't work very well. It had been installed backwards re: hot to hot, cold to cold lines. The 'Supervisor' took the time to correct the heat pump installation mistake the day of his review of the water heater fiasco. He scheduled a return visit to address the water heater. He revamped the install, and added another line to the heat pump so both back bathrooms can benefit from the pump. Professionalism Vaporized. Our heating system, although only ten-ish years old was replaced. The ductwork was original to the house and was clad in asbestos insulation and needed to be removed by a certified Asbestos removal company. It added another week to our heater-less house over the holidays. The team that arrived to address the asbestos work were riding in an unmarked work truck, no company name, no contractor's license number. They could have been day-workers picked up in a Home Depot parking lot for all we knew. Sealing the vents seemed to be a secondary thought. We now have holes in our ceiling where something happened. Miscommunications to wrap up our experience. When we were brought the ceiling damage to Same Day Service's attention we were told that that was a third party issue. I guess we'll have to cruise the local Home Depot's in search of the remediation team No further information was offered by Same Day Service. Miscommunications continue. We we reminded at the completion of the heater install that we, the homeowners, had to arrange for a HERS test in order to get the final permit signed off. When I called Same Day Service to get a recommendation I was told I didn't need a HERS test. When I called for my final, the city inspector said I needed a HERS test. I was again told by Same Day Service our work was exempt. I went back down to city hall and their desk officer had to call Same Day Service for clarification. Turns out Same Day Service left what's known as 'the boots' in place in their ducting replacement. The remediation people just saw into the existing ducts, leaving behind the portion of the ductwork that connects to the duct and the home's interior vent. Leaving behind a portion of questionable ductwork, 'the boot' and any asbestos tape that may have been used. I outlined my experience in more detail and sent it both snail mail and email to Same Day Service. No response. The Same Day Service club did nothing to insure a good experience, nor did it afford us any break on the price. We were given a 10% discount for paying cash. Probably motivated by assuring payment with a credit card would not be frozen while we sought resolution... read more

A few years ago I needed my washer drain and supply moved. The tech came out gave me an estimate which I must say was acceptable. So I had them do the job. The tech brought two apprentices out and left them to do the job. They did not know how to do it correctly. When the tech came back I pointed out the issues and he removed all the repairs the two had done and reworked it. Someone higher than the tech came out and I told him If I wanted an apprentice to do the job I'd of done it myself. They ended up giving me a discount and got the job fixed correctly. Once a year I have to clean out my main drain due to roots. I normally rent a snake and use a root cutter attachment to clean the drain. (around 50 dollars) This year I just didn't feel like doing it so I called and they said they had a special for 89.00 so they came out the same day. The tech ran a snake down without using a root cutter and unclogged the drain. When I asked him why he didn't use a root cutter he said he didn't want to get hurt as they are dangerous. He then ran a scope down the drain to show me the roots which I already knew where there. Yes he did a good job for a cheap price. However without using a root cutter I feel it was just a way in to get me to redo my whole main drain at an estimate of 7-9 thousand dollars. They also gave me an estimate to "power Wash" the roots away for 1,200 but said that would only last about a year until the roots come back. So now I have to go rent a snake again with a root cutter and do it myself. read more

The pipes under my 92 year old mother in laws mobile home were leaking. Roger from Same Day Plumbing came out and said the cost for replacing the pipes and sub flooring would be $15,000, yes $15,000. My mother in law said Roger was such a nice man and that he would take care of her and if needed bring her water. He might be nice, but $15,000? We called around and got 3 other estimates for pipe replacement and subflooring. None went over $5,000. Same Day was not only charging triple the costs but taking advantage of a 92 year old widow. Shame on you. Do not and I mean do not hire this company and if you to have an elderly and vulnerable parent, stay far away from them. A connection pipe and to snake a drain. I then called a few other companies and was told that unless I was replacing my sink and completely changing the plumbing it would be that much. I have already spent thousands of dollars with this company last month and was pressured in to the package to save on future services. I should be refunded the 50$ I had to pay the guy to just shine a flash light under my sink and the for the money I fronted for this package I was pressured into. It was a true scam. I'm tempted to contact the BBB and Michael Finney from channel 7 news for 7 on your side. Zero stars **Update** just had my regular plumbing company come out and fix the issue for $200. I was floored with the service this company provides. Our neighbors (condos) unit had backed up up drains and they called them to see if they could remedy the problem. Needless to say they were unfamiliar with the lines that existed in the building. They went into our garage and snaked the line into our unit instead and ended up breaking our toilet in the process. Our tenant came home to a broken toilet and it wasn't until we spoke to the HOA that we found out Same Day Service had come out and snaked the wrong line. When I called them the receptionist she was polite and told me she would have the technician call me. The technician was beyond rude and belligerent. He told me that he would have to determine if he did the damage or not. I told him that the HOA was aware of the work he attempted to complete and agreed that they snaked the wrong line. Apparently the neighbor contacted the HOA out of frustration that the line was still blocked and the HOA sent out Elite Plumbing Services (who are amazing and solved the issue of the backed up lines). Eventually Same Day Service determined they did cause the damage and are replacing the toilet this morning. I have recently started assisting my grandmother with her home finances and and upkeep. She has always used these folks in the past for her plumbing needs. Unfortunately for same day, this is about to change. So far they have replaced the main line from the street to the home and have also replaced a bathroom sink and toilet. The main line installation was some ridiculously huge amount of money, easily 5% of the value of the whole house and the bathroom work was a couple of grand on top of that. Today I was quoted $700 - $1200 to install a new kitchen faucet, when you consider it is a $100 part, that is some ridiculous labor charges. Rip off. Is there such a thing as negative stars? Two days ago I placed a non urgent request for de-rooting my sewer main line as my toilets were starting to slow in their flush. I need to de-root almost every year. Have done so for years. Responding to the $89 Main Line Special-Same-Day-Service AD which I found on the internet, I scheduled the appointment. Having been around the block (I am 65) I was careful to ask if there were hidden costs. The sales lady/ scheduler said... "O' no. It'll be $89. A $49 service call will be waived if we do the work. It will be $89. I said great, I just need the de-rooting". When the plumber showed, the toilets were starting to back up. (I informed the plumber the toilets were starting to back up and I immediately realized that was a mistake, since now, things were more urgent and he thought he had me. Although he doesn't know me and doesn't know that I can hold it if I have to). I showed him the access hole and said I needed the roots run out using the $89 special. He said... "Well... the $89 main line derooting requires running the cutting lines back and forth... (that would be work) but we can only do that after we run a camera to "diagnose" and that's not included...." Diagnose what? I diagnosed it for him. I feel like George Banks in Father of the Bride.... There are 8 hot dogs in a package and 12 buns in a package.... Some big shot at the Bun factory got together with some bigshot at the wiener factory ... and they intend to rip off the American Public. George Banks is not going to take it anymore! The quote they gave me was for $1250 for the simple job of replacing a toilet. It ended up costing me $250 from an equally reputable licensed plumber. They dug up our yard and did not replace the grass nor provide any compensation. I called these guys up, and they were very nice on the phone, and showed up within two hours. that's where the nice things i can say about them end. I got a call from Daniel, telling me there's no clean out in the house, which means i don't qualify for their $89 drain cleaning. in fact, the only way to snake the clogged pipes was to install a new clean out - at a cost of $1,861. The next day, when I could come in with a friend and look at the drain, we found SEVERAL clean outs. Turns out he didn't even check under the house, and just tried ripping my off to the tune of $1,861. We used the existing clean out, snaked it, and the clog is gone. but the bad taste with this company remains. Review number one: So Far, my huge copper repiping job and drain replacement has been going ok. The job supervisor is trustworthy experienced Rick. I'm in Vallejo. I was unable to get a local plumber to answer me or come over when my ceiling started leaking. I hired Same Day because they answered the phone. Be aware, this company is in Winters, and it is a long commute for the plumbers. This naturally alters the length of time to complete the job, and the ability to get out to your home quickly. This is my first suggestion to Carwin B. Please let your receptionists answer the phone without saying "How can we make you smile today?" It adds insult to injury when you are not able to get out to the customers' home because it is the weekend, and the customer has to go with no water for days. $1200 for a 15 minute job? Had one of their guys come out and look at leak under house. He stated he couldn't fit and gave us "rough estimate" of 1200, but worse case scenario because he couldn't fit to say for sure. We've had them come out before last year and even though they had to come out twice for not fixing leak all the way, we were pleased with work and price. The guy said it would take a couple hours to complete this time and it was literally 15 mins total work time. So we called BS and they refused to budge on price. Overpriced. Had clogged toilet and bathtub. Broke our toilet... had to replace it with a new one, but we still payed over $1000 for the service. Within 7 days later the bathtub clogged again, a repairman came and removed the gunk for free, but said our pipes were too old and needed to replace piping out to the street. The repairman gave us an initial estimate of $12,500 dollars and told my father too bad he wasn't a senior citizen you get 10% off. WOW! I got a coupon offering a furnace tuneup for $49 and I got so MUCH MORE than I thought! Kolby showed up promptly and went to work on my furnace (which hadbn't been cleaned in a long time). He showed me which parts were worn out, what the furnace starter was doing, then took a shop vac and cleaned it for over an hour!!!. It purred like a kitten afterward--just in time for these cold nights. He also told me about their FIVE year service plan for $165--what a deal!! I didn't know anything like that existed. I had a stopped up toilet and the technician took one look and proceeded to write up an estimate sheet that had four options. The first two were for installing new toilets - both over $1,000. Their estimate for cleaning out the toilet was four times what I eventually paid another company (local - one guy) that came and charged by the hour. Tip - don't go with companies that try to charge a ridiculous flat rate or try to push crazy options out of line with what you need. DO NOT USE THEM. GET A FREE ESTIMATE ELSEWHERE!! Went to Lowes and bought a $169 disposal. Called around to find the best price to have it installed. Most plumbers charged by the hour and their range was $100-$130. Most told me it would take about an hour to two hours for the job. I was feeling uneasy about not having a fixed cost on the job so I called Same Day Service Plumbing. Very nice operator took my info and told me that they charged by the job and that there was a $49 charge for an estimate but the $49 would be absorbed into the cost of the job should I utilize their services. I thought well...this should be good. They will come over and give me a fair cost based on what they see. So I booked the appointment. They arrived on time and with a smile like the ad promised...however...the price they quoted was $413.76 and they would give me a $50 discount. I was shocked...I asked if it was a joke. He said no. I asked how long it would take...he said an hour. This is robbery. The labor was almost 2.5 time more than the disposer itself. Needless to say I did not go with them but had to pay the freaking $49. I called the establishment to complain and while it did not solve anything, it made me feel better. The lady who answered reminded me that they have been in business for 25 years.
