What a perfect way to end a big day! We wrapped up an exciting evening of networking and celebrations in Carlsbad by heading over to Same Same for dinner and it was absolutely the right call. We ordered the wonton samosas, corn ribs, marinated cucumbers, and finished with the khao soi curry with tofu on the recommendation of our server, Mike. Everything was flavorful, fresh. The corn ribs were a little on the salty side but still delicious and totally addictive. The wonton samosas were a wonderful surprise. It was a creative, flavorful twist on traditional Indian samosas that we weren't expecting but loved. The marinated cucumbers were a refreshing complement to everything else on the table. But the real star of the meal? The khao soi. Beautifully spicy with just the right hint of lemongrass, just enough to shine, but not so much that it overpowered the other flavors or turned bitter. It was perfectly balanced and absolutely memorable. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. Shoutout to Mike for the spot-on recommendation! If you're in Carlsbad and love bold, globally-inspired flavors, Same Same is a must. We'll definitely be back.

Good food, great service. The atmosphere is like a San Francisco pub in the 1990's. The bar area is crowded and the dining area is small and cramped. The noise level is loud but it is definitely fun. Not a quiet place to have a conversation by any means. We came here for drinks and appetizers. The chicken hit it out of the ballpark. Finger licking good! I'm not experienced with having cocktails so I am not the person to take advice from but I liked what I ordered. It's not what I expected but it felt like a throw back to a different time with a lot of personality. Two thumbs up. Just heads up, those photos you see on Yelp, those items may or may not be on the menu. They said sometimes they have pop-ups where the menu changes. Check out their Insta account before going. We didn't know this in advance. (Lost a star for the short ribs. Skip them. )

I was craving some Tom Kha soup so this place came up on my search. I should have seen that this place is more of a bar than a restaurant because when we walked in, the place did not look like any Thai restaurant we have been to. The atmosphere was more artsy and definitely looked and felt more like a bar than a restaurant which is fine if you are looking for a bar with a restaurant rather than a restaurant with a bar. Anyway, the menu selection was limited. We got the Tom Kha soup, Chicken Satay, and the Korean short ribs. The soup was tasty but a bit on the salty side. The meat for the satay and short ribs was very tender with good flavor. But the amount of food we received seemed small for the price. Good thing we were not too hungry. Service was good. Our server was friendly and checked on us every so often. This restaurant was in the Carlsbad Village and the time we went it was as crowded so we parked on the street.

I can't believe it was our first time at Same Same! Went in on a Saturday night a little after 9:00. We were looking at the menu and the bartender informed us the kitchen had closed at nine. Very common for the area but so disappointing for a weekend night. I had the simple Rick and upgraded to Tito's. It was delicious but a bit pricey at $17. My husband had a local IPA and liked it. The service was good. The vibe is great and the decor is really cute and kitschy. There is a DJ that starts at 10, at least on the weekends. A lot of people were coming in, definitely had a club vibe by the time we left. We will be back to try the food!

Really fun Thai fusion restaurant! Good food, fun drinks, and really nice ambiance. Perfect for date night or fun dinner with friends. Menu isn't very big,. We settled on the Khao Soi chicken curry with egg noodle, larb lettuce cups, and Grilled Steak with thai chili dipping sauce. Best was the grilled steak, least favorite was the kaho soi chicken curry noodles. Noodles were a bit overcooked and the curry wasn't very flavorful. Steak was great though. The chili dipping sauce paired really well with the perfectly cooked medium rare steak and we ended up pouring the remainder of the sauce in our noodles. We arrived around 5ish on a Saturday night and they were already pretty busy. We ended up sitting at the bar instead of the dining room but had a great experience nonetheless. Service was great and very attentive. Would definitely come back!

Is this a joke. Thai lettuce wraps with ground beef and lettuce. Zero sauce to go with it. NEVER going back to this place. Awful. I don't think it's possible to put less effort into the food you're selling. I give this place six months to a year before it's out of business. They should refund me it was that bad.

Same Same is in the Village Faire mall on Carlsbad Village Drive. A little hard to find but it's tight above the Coyote Bar & Grill. Despite the name this is not a Thai restaurant, per se, but is best described as pan-Asian fusion. Whilst Thai cuisine is heavily drawn on there are influences from Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc all wrapped in a SoCal fusion style. Cool vibe with a bar in front and table seating in a back room. Interesting, eclectic art works cover pretty much all of the walls with dried plants hanging from the ceiling. Let's start with the cocktails. They have a very creative cocktail menu and the two that we had were delicious. We also had a small bottle of sake Wonton Samosa - Thai Massaman curry in a wonton wrapper and deep fried like a samosa. Served with a mayonnaise sauce. Perfectly executed and absolutely delicious. Chicken Satay - Pretty much traditional Thai style with a delicious peanut sauce. Served with pickled cucumbers. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was very tender. Thai Chicken Wings - Delicious like the first two plates. A little messy to eat but a great crust and sauce. We were pretty much sated at this point but the head chef, Cross, came out to greet us and ask about our meal. Asked if we wanted dessert, on the house, and we agreed. Brought us a Thai tea tiramisu with shaved coconut on top. I love traditional tiramisu and this was absolutely delicious. Service was very professional and friendly. Helped us choose from the cocktail and food menus with passion for the food. If you're a foodie in San Diego, you owe yourself a time to dine here! Highest recommendation.

Amazing food.. Great drinks... Ambiance... but what is best is the service and care. They are personal and want to make sure you enjoy your experience.. These people do a great job.

Cute Thai bar with hip decor and good food/drinks. Make sure to get a reservation here since it was packed when my fiancé and I arrived at 6 PM. We got a few cocktails and kao soi, lettuce wrap, fried wonton for food. The cocktails are strong here, and one of the better ones I've had. Lettuce wrap (8/10)-fresh ground pork was flavorful, light start to a meal Fried wonton (9/10)-crisp and not overly greasy, Asian inspired bar food Kao soi (8/10)-flavor was comparable to ones I've had at Thai restaurants, the noodle texture was overcooked but other than that pretty impressed Service is very fast and vibe is poppin. Would love to come back here to try other drinks.

Wonderful bar for some delicious Asian eats with refreshing and unique cocktails. Same Same is located in the heart of Carlsbad Village on the second floor above nearby Coyote Bar. Parking is free and onsite, but can get packed on a Friday night. Wonton Samosas is were scrumptious and filling! Short ribs were juicy and enjoyable. Dark, cozy, and unique ambiance and friendly staff make for a great experience with the yummy drinks.

First time here and had a good time. I liked that the restaurant seating was tucked away from the bar if you want a more intimate setting. I liked their cocktail selection and the food was good! One of our dishes was served warm. I think if the temperature would have been hot, it would have tasted better but I'd come back.

Super fun, dimly lit, funky decor, fantastic drink menu with amusing descriptions that made us laugh! Service is quick, friendly, and efficient. We had the Tom Kha soup and chicken sate. Can't go wrong, it was delicious. For drinks we had the Tangerine, You Are My Sex Machine (a mezcal yummy unique and refreshing beverage. Also the Sex Work is Real Work (not a Pornstar Martini!) Everything was great. DJ starts at 9:30!!! Come on in!
