I also enjoyed the Sichuan stir-fry noodles, though the portion of chicken was a bit sparse. The masala chai fell short for me, it could have used a stronger spice profile. This is the flavor I'm liking for when I want a chicken tikka masala. The chicken pieces could be more tender, but they've got the right balance of cream, sweet, and spice. Even their plain naan works quite well with the curry. It's not as soft or fluffy as other places, but the flavor works well when eaten with the curry. I do like that they allow you to adjust the spice for curries and biryanis. The lamb in the lamb biryani was tender and didn't taste too gamey. And I found the addition of tamarind to be interesting, just be careful while eating because they've still got their pits. Terrible service. Didn't even give our table water. We requested to sit at a booth and owner said no even though the place was empty at 1030PM! Also if the Momos truly take more than 25 minutes to prepare should inform customers with a courtesy disclaimer. I ate a late lunch at Samikcha MoMo. The menu is huge with a mix of Nepalese and more Chinese-style dishes. My order consisted of Halal Chicken Paanak and basmati rice. The chicken dish had finely chopped spinach in it and was a little spicy for me (I have a low spice tolerance!). The lunch came to about $20. It would be nice if they had lunch specials or more combination plates. The only ones they had were the more Chinese dishes that came with fried rice/chow mein noodles and a small lettuce salad. The restaurant is modern and clean. The service is prompt and the wait staff came back to ask how the food was (which was nice)! We tried Samikcha on a whim while walking around downtown San Mateo for dinner. It took a bit of time to decide which momo to order, but we ended up with the tandoori momo. It arrived on a steaming iron plate, similar to Korean BBQ, and was delicious. This was a first for us--Chinese dumplings with Indian curry--and the flavors worked together really well. The dumplings were cooked perfectly. The mixed Sichuan chowmein was overall peppery with a familiar, slight electric pepper buzz, though we wished it had more vegetables mixed in. The halal chicken curry was flavorful with tender meat. Unfortunately, the naan was a bit dry with a burnt garlic taste. Despite a few small issues, it was a good value for the money and the taste. We tried: Chicken tandoori, Shrimp biryanis, Veggie momo steamed, Gobi Manchurian, Tofu tikka masala, Onion naan The gobi Manchurian is definitely a standout dish, followed closely by the veggie steamed momo and chicken tandoori. When eaten with the sauces they get even better, though some are spicy, they are worth it. The masala is also very good especially when paired with onion pancake. We stumbled upon this place late night and ordered Veg Steamed and Tandoor Momos. Both had the same filling, one was steamed and the other one was cooked in Tandoor and came on a sizzling plate which kept the momos hot for the whole time. The Manchurian Fried rice bowl was amazing, couldn't resist and ate almost half the bowl before taking a picture. The egg chow mien could have been better. It was not bad but the taste of other dishes raised our expectations. They have a nice cosy restaurant, decent lighting and seats. The best part of their service is they are open until 11pm ! So we ate here today. I ordered the Sichuan chicken fry rice. The waiter said it's very spicy. I told him that's the reason why I'm ordering it. Food comes out and I taste it. It isn't spicy at all. It's just fry rice with tiny bits of chicken. I can't stand when staff think you can't handle spicy and decide for you (even though I said I want it spicy) that it's best not to make the dish spicy. It's low key racist. On a side note my wife's dish was amazing (manchurian chicken) and says she'll be back. Here's a tip. Hidden Gem in San Mateo! One night we were looking for a place thats open late and we found this place open 12mn every day! Since we love indian food we tried it and its mind blowing! It's been a while since I've tried something entirely new. I've seen these types of dumplings before but I wasn't prepared for how mind blowing they were. The momos has so much flavor in one bite. The skillet momos were especially delicious. The bottom crisped up and I like the onions along with it. The other dish we had was the lychee paneer. This dish was so good! Been meaning to try this place for several months. I'll keep my review concise. Momos were really good. Chili chicken was really good too. Pass on the samosa chaat and save that for a chaat place. It'd be nice if it were a bit cheaper but it's 2025, it's downtown, and the quality of the food is good, so you'll enjoy your meal and feel you got what you paid for. We tried a bunch of momos and I thought all of them were tasty. I don't really remember one that I disliked. They are all rather large and juicy. Some of the spicy ones were indeed rather spicy but some didn't really have too much heat. I even got to try the dumplings sitting in soup (jhol) but I actually felt like the other dumplings were a bit better especially with the tasty side sauce. Service was good and prompt. This spot makes you feel like you traveled very far, to a tiny village in Nepal, when all you did was drive 10 minutes.
