One of the naans had chicken baked into it, which was super unique and really tasty. Overall, we had a great experience. Service was timely, the space was clean, and the food was delicious. The curries were rich, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. All the bread options - roti, garlic naan, and the chicken naan - were solid choices and paired perfectly with the dishes. I ate a late lunch at Samikcha MoMo. The menu is huge with a mix of Nepalese and more Chinese-style dishes. My order consisted of Halal Chicken Paanak and basmati rice. The chicken dish had finely chopped spinach in it and was a little spicy for me (I have a low spice tolerance!). The lunch came to about $20. It would be nice if they had lunch specials or more combination plates. The only ones they had were the more Chinese dishes that came with fried rice/chow mein noodles and a small lettuce salad. The restaurant is modern and clean. The service is prompt and the wait staff came back to ask how the food was (which was nice)! Wow til his place was amazing! Their Momos were literally hands out one of the best things i've ever had. I literally tooo a bite and was like wow i probably could eat this everyday. We tried Samikcha on a whim while walking around downtown San Mateo for dinner. It took a bit of time to decide which momo to order, but we ended up with the tandoori momo. It arrived on a steaming iron plate, similar to Korean BBQ, and was delicious. This was a first for us--Chinese dumplings with Indian curry--and the flavors worked together really well. The dumplings were cooked perfectly. The mixed Sichuan chowmein was overall peppery with a familiar, slight electric pepper buzz, though we wished it had more vegetables mixed in. The halal chicken curry was flavorful with tender meat. Unfortunately, the naan was a bit dry with a burnt garlic taste. Despite a few small issues, it was a good value for the money and the taste. We tried: Chicken tandoori, Shrimp biryanis, Veggie momo steamed, Gobi Manchurian, Tofu tikka masala, Onion naan The gobi Manchurian is definitely a standout dish, followed closely by the veggie steamed momo and chicken tandoori. When eaten with the sauces they get even better, though some are spicy, they are worth it. The masala is also very good especially when paired with onion pancake. We stumbled upon this place late night and ordered Veg Steamed and Tandoor Momos. Both had the same filling, one was steamed and the other one was cooked in Tandoor and came on a sizzling plate which kept the momos hot for the whole time. The Manchurian Fried rice bowl was amazing, couldn't resist and ate almost half the bowl before taking a picture. The egg chow mien could have been better. It was not bad but the taste of other dishes raised our expectations. They have a nice cosy restaurant, decent lighting and seats. The best part of their service is they are open until 11pm ! So we ate here today. I ordered the Sichuan chicken fry rice. The waiter said it's very spicy. I told him that's the reason why I'm ordering it. Food comes out and I taste it. It isn't spicy at all. It's just fry rice with tiny bits of chicken. I can't stand when staff think you can't handle spicy and decide for you (even though I said I want it spicy) that it's best not to make the dish spicy. It's low key racist. On a side note my wife's dish was amazing (manchurian chicken) and says she'll be back. Here's a tip. Hidden Gem in San Mateo! One night we were looking for a place thats open late and we found this place open 12mn every day! Since we love indian food we tried it and its mind blowing! Everything is flavorful and we can't wait for our next visit already. The service is good they're very attentive. TLDR: delicious food, perfect for a quick after a long day at work. We've been here quite a few times. Once to sit down and several pick ups. Food has always been hot, delicious and comforting. It's been a while since I've tried something entirely new. I've seen these types of dumplings before but I wasn't prepared for how mind blowing they were. The momos has so much flavor in one bite. This is my first time trying Indo Chinese food, and I was blown away! Not only were the momos so hearty, warming, and flavorful, they were also sizzling on a hot iron plate and made the onions and cabbage so fragrant! The lamb saag and lamb vindaloo were also some of the best I've had! The flavors are complex, yet refined. Despite it being a super busy evening (we arrived at around 9 after a show), the waiter still cracked jokes and tried to make our experience as pleasant as possible despite the wait for the food to arrive. This place was pretty good! The menu was a lot larger than I was expecting. There were plenty of items beyond momos. I love Indian curries so I want to come back and try those too. We tried a bunch of momos and I thought all of them were tasty. I don't really remember one that I disliked. They are all rather large and juicy. Some of the spicy ones were indeed rather spicy but some didn't really have too much heat. I even got to try the dumplings sitting in soup (jhol) but I actually felt like the other dumplings were a bit better especially with the tasty side sauce. Service was good and prompt. Sooo... we had wanted to go here sobetime earlier, but they seem to have been closed for a while, so now, finally. Son had a chinese staple, chow mien - which he tells me was good. Much easier if you go with three, four ppl and share. Or if you're certain you'll be okay with that one type only. So, four stars is kind of a compromise grade... Quaint and friendly place to enjoy some delicious food. You walk up, order, and sit. My partner and I split samosa chaat which had excellent flavors.
