Tried Samikcha MoMo for the first time and we definitely made the right choice! Every dish was incredibly flavorful and perfectly creamy where it needed to be. The meats were tender and soft, and everything we ordered was delicious. My personal favorites were the butter chicken and cheese naan--but honestly, everything was so good. The staff were also very polite and kind, which made the whole dining experience even better.

I've heard great things about Samikcha Momo and glad I finally got to try. We got momos, biriyani and naan and one more item. I would say the momos are out of this world and they're so flavorful and delicious!!! I see why this place is well known for them. But everything else it was good but not amazing, so if I come I'd only get momos.

Went here with some friends for a late lunch - it wasn't busy, so we were seated right away. We ordered two types of momos, three curries, and three kinds of bread. One of the naans had chicken baked into it, which was super unique and really tasty. Overall, we had a great experience. Service was timely, the space was clean, and the food was delicious. The curries were rich, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. All the bread options - roti, garlic naan, and the chicken naan - were solid choices and paired perfectly with the dishes. Portions were just right for our group of five, and we didn't even need leftovers. Definitely a spot I'd come back to!

Wow til his place was amazing! Their Momos were literally hands out one of the best things i've ever had. I literally tooo a bite and was like wow i probably could eat this everyday. THE SAUCE WAS DELISH. The workers were nice too! I was surprised because it was really empty in the restaurant but yall need to try this place! My fave things were the Momo and the butter chicken, everything else was okay but i still will come back

I ate a late lunch at Samikcha MoMo. The menu is huge with a mix of Nepalese and more Chinese-style dishes. My order consisted of Halal Chicken Paanak and basmati rice. The chicken dish had finely chopped spinach in it and was a little spicy for me (I have a low spice tolerance!). The lunch came to about $20. It would be nice if they had lunch specials or more combination plates. The only ones they had were the more Chinese dishes that came with fried rice/chow mein noodles and a small lettuce salad. The restaurant is modern and clean. The service is prompt and the wait staff came back to ask how the food was (which was nice)! There was some lovely music and singing from the flat screen TV in the back...maybe music videos? Delicious food & very good experience. I will return to try more dishes!

One of my favorite restaurants in San Mateo! If you're looking for flavorful, authentic Nepalese/Indian food, you have to come here. The momos are a must try-- my personal favorite is the chicken momo with tikka masala sauce. The gobi manchurian is great as well. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Service was fast, and the space is clean. Overall, this is one of my go to spots.

Overall pretty good and flavorful. Highly recommend the veggie momo's. Moderate pricing for quantity but not bad for the quality!

My friend and I came here late at night on a Sunday. There was no wait and we ordered the Chicken Chili Momo, Garlic Naan, and Lamb Tikka Masala. Service was standard, the restaurant was modern, casual, and clean. The portions were small for the price but the food was flavorful and delicious. My favorite dish was definitely the dumplings! I would come here again if I was in the area and some friends wanted to a place to catch up at a restaurant late at night.

Was looking for a spot in San Mateo to meet up with South bay friends from SF and this was around halfway - found it through Yelp of course. Lots of great options, and so many different styles of momos! We loved everything, so many good veggie options too. We tried to the tandoori momos and tikka masala (I liked the tikka masala one more) but tandoori comes sizzling! Def recommend getting diff options to try... Chow mein was great and aloo gobi was solid too. Ambiance is pretty casual, service was good.

We tried Samikcha on a whim while walking around downtown San Mateo for dinner. It took a bit of time to decide which momo to order, but we ended up with the tandoori momo. It arrived on a steaming iron plate, similar to Korean BBQ, and was delicious. This was a first for us--Chinese dumplings with Indian curry--and the flavors worked together really well. The dumplings were cooked perfectly. The mixed Sichuan chowmein was overall peppery with a familiar, slight electric pepper buzz, though we wished it had more vegetables mixed in. The halal chicken curry was flavorful with tender meat. Unfortunately, the naan was a bit dry with a burnt garlic taste. Despite a few small issues, it was a good value for the money and the taste. We'll definitely have to go back to try their other momo flavors and dishes.

Yummmmmmyyy! I came here for quick lunch with a friend and everything was delicious. I highly recommend the gobi Manchurian, veggie momo and chicken momo. It was totally affordable for a quick bite and was not crowded at all. I'll be back.

A hidden gem in downtown San Mateo! We liked everything we had - the samosa chaat in particular felt unique and packed quite a punch of flavor. Quick and kind service. Casual vibes - not really a date night spot.

Good service and kind people. Not crowded, maybe two or three other tables were seated. Lamb tandoori - 3/5, lamb with onions and veggies cooked on top. The lamb had a good grilled flavor, but was a bit on the tougher side. The veggies were good though Chicken momo tandoori - 4/5, chicken dumpling with veggies on top. Good flavor with a meaty filling. The veggies on top, again, were good. Probably my favorite part of these dishes haha Coconut chicken curry - 4.5/5, super tender chicken in a flavorful curry. The curry was not as creamy as I thought it would be, but it was still nice and thick. Not as heavy as butter chicken or tikka masala. Yum! Garlic naan - 4.5/5, garlic naan. Yum!! Gobi manchurian - 1/5, battered and fried cauliflower in a sweet, sour, spicy sauce. We were feeling adventurous and decided to try something different, but I guess it just wasn't for us. The batter was pretty thick, so some pieces seemed to be all batter. Cauliflower inside was tender.

Over the last few years, I've worked my way through nearly the entire menu and brought numerous guests here; every single one has left impressed. The interior is peaceful and welcoming, but it's the owners who truly make the experience. Their warmth and genuine hospitality--whether we are dining in or picking up takeout--make it a genuine pleasure to support this business. The food is nothing short of phenomenal. The curries are rich and deeply flavorful without ever being greasy. Here are the standouts I find myself ordering on repeat: Himalayan Goat Curry & Himalayan Lamb Curry: Both feature incredibly tender meat in aromatic, rich gravies. The goat curry, in particular, is a less dry version of Sukha Gosht--you can tell it's been slow-cooked for hours. Fish Coconut Curry: Perfectly cooked salmon in a decadent, and beautifully spiced coconut curry sauce. It ties with the goat curry as my absolute favorite. Aloo Bodi & Tama: This Nepalese dish was a new discovery for me. The contrast between the crunchy bamboo shoots and creamy potatoes/black-eyed peas is superb, and the spices never overwhelm the vegetables. The Classics (Dal, Palak Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala): The Dal is pure comfort (exactly like my mother's!), and the Palak Paneer tastes like it came straight from an authentic Punjabi dhaba. Their Chicken Tikka Masala is a close second to the famous version at the iconic Chor Bazaarr restaurant in London--tangy, spicy, and delicious. A true local treasure!

Our favorites are the chicken korma, prawn tikka masala, and butter chicken. All three are incredibly flavorful, rich, and perfectly spiced without being overwhelming. Every container is filled to the brim with sauce, and their garlic naan is perfect for soaking up every last bit. The naan is soft, warm, and has just the right amount of garlic. The food tastes authentic and comforting, with deep, well-balanced flavors that really stand out compared to other places we've tried. You can tell care goes into the preparation. Ordering is also super convenient. We usually order online, but calling in is just as easy, and the process is always smooth. Takeout is consistently ready on time, which makes this an easy choice on busy nights.
