Well I really wanted to love this place as I read some good reviews on here but I have to say i was not that impressed. I had the rueben . Maybe it was an off day and I may give it another shot someday if I feel brave enough to spend $25 for two sandwiches for another try? The good: Very friendly service and least they are curing and preparing their own meat but well, read below.... The bad: Meat was pretty dry and cut too thick. Could of used a little more for $12 a pop. If you are going to putting the time to cure your own meat why not make some sauerkraut why you are at it. A rueben with just shredded plain cabbage just didnt do it for me. I think the tartness of some sauerkraut would of really helped to cut through the sweet 'Russian' dressing. The bread was ok but I could not even tasted the caraway seeds in it that rye bread is known for. I have eaten great ruebens from many great places in NY to SF and this was just not my thing I guess. Maybe there Italian beef sando is a better choice? If i ever go back maybe I will give that a try but after spending $25 on 2 sandwiches that were just ok i doubt I will. read more

Rude! my husband and I are new to Ashland and we had heard how great the place was. we wanted a pastrami without the coleslaw the man went on to tell us that the coleslaw is the best. we still said no thank you. we get home with our togo order and there is a big heaping amount of soggy basic coleslaw on top of our sandwich he specifically asked not to put on. I contacted the manager because the man was pretty rude about it saying that they have the best coleslaw it even better that mine like whatever ok and then does it anyway. I should have known by his attitude but still ended up paying 20$ for a ruined sandwich. And the reply I got was " so there's nothing we can do to improve your dining experience " exact wording Well I'd say there's a lot of improvement that could be done and I surely won't ever return there are many other better places to spend my money I mean after all its Ashland! read more

This was one of the worst food experiences ever. If you want to chance food poisoning and waste your money at a college joint, this is for you. Terrible service with attitude, sloppy sandwiches (if you can call them that) and possible food poisoning. Sandwiches came out with mayo and mustard slathered all over the outside making it impossible to eat. They were missing ingredients and half the bun. Soggy and terrible sandwich experience... Unfortunately my first time on Ashland. I hope they learn from this and fire whoever makes the sandwiches. read more

So good! Two of us has the Melanzane sammich (roasted eggplant, peppers, and onions, feta basil spread and arugula) and one of us had the Tre sammich (salami, mortadella, prosciutto, lettuce, onion, and provolone). Both were delicious and we will be coming back for more! read more

You want a sandwich? This is the place. It's a bit of a circus in there but that is all part of the experience of living in a small town and having real people own and run their places. Melissa and Chandra (if you go there more than three times you will be remembered by name and be part of the family and show) and all the crew are friendly, funny, and just nice people who serve up what is, undeniably (IMHO), the best sandwich anywhere around here and just about anywhere I've been outside of Chicago and New York. We've had 7 or 8 different sandwiches over the past year or so and each one was simply fabulous. I wish they were still making kim chee but I guess it was not a big seller. Pastrami, the Chicago beef, the tuna, the specials, I could go on but why bother. They are all great. When they ask you what you want on it, just say "do it the way it is supposed to be done" and let them work their magic. Chicago ain't got nothing on this place. read more

The eggplant sandwich was very good. My son enjoyed his meatball sandwich and really liked his chips. Sandwiches took awhile to make which I don't' mind as I prefer they are made to order especially for premium price. BUT while waiting I asked for the wifi password and was told they "don't know it". The fact that the entire menu can be made gluten free is what drew me to this place, and I am very glad it did. I was in town visiting, staying at a hotel and ordered a GF Timbo for delivery from Sammich. Maybe this is the Celiacs talking and I just haven't had ANY sandwiches in a long time, but I think the GF Timbo was seriously one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It was honestly so tasty I was worried it might actually contain gluten as gluten free items rarely taste this good. But 12 hours later, I've had absolutely no reaction to it, so I'm quite certain of it's GF status. That said, I skipped the pickle that was included with it as I didn't have a chance to verify it's GF status with the staff, and I know that is a commonly overlooked item that frequently uses vinegar with gluten in it. I can't recommend this place enough and I just may skip breakfast tomorrow just to have another go around with Sammich. read more

I've been to this restaurant many times and always get the grilled cheese with tomato soup, the food is delicious and the service always friendly. Unfortunately on my last visit I got my soup to go and was DISGUSTED TO FIND A LONG DARK HAIR in it. I called the restaurant and let them know and they asked if I wanted another one, but I was already at home in Talent, plus why would I want another soup from there?? I threw the soup away immediately. I wish they took better precautions; perhaps keeping hair pulled back or wearing hairnets. I will not visit this place again, the thought of it happening again is just too gross. read more

This place is soooooo good! I can't give it all of the stars though because I think it's really pricey for a sandwich place. I know you get what you pay for, and I know that Ashland is a hell of an expensive place to open a restaurant - but we ended up paying almost $30 for two lunches, which I can't justify on a regular basis. If, given the location, they're expecting their main customer base to be SOU students then I am really worried for their continued survival. AMAZING! My boyfriend and I were passing through town and looked up on here for the best food to eat. We got the Timbo and the Pastrami. As my boyfriend said, "this is making my toes curl it's so amazing!" We said if we lived close we would honestly eat it every day! The staff were so friendly. Right away they knew we were first timers (staring at the sandwich selection board) and they told us all about how they personally cook their different meats. Multiple employees also came out to check on us and ask how we were enjoying our sandwiches. We both felt like we died and went to heaven and we are HUGE foodies so that's saying a lot! Don't listen to the other reviews who say "the sandwiches are too expensive". They are normal prices at $10-$12 a sandwich and the portions are HUGE! Not all it's cracked up to be. There are many ways to make a decent pastrami sandwich, but a 3-1 ratio of (very bland) coleslaw to pastrami is not among them. What a wonderful gem of a place. We stopped here on our drive from Eugene to Northern California to grab lunch for the car. The owner was so attentive and incredibly nice to my 6-year-old who was somewhat cranky on arrival. My husband had the Irish Reuben, which was so delish. I had the Albacore - amazing. My daughter had a plain jane turkey sandwich and ate the entire thing along with the pickles (a first, I can assure you). It's a few miles off the 5 and you'll have to wait a few extra minutes for your food but it's worth it. read more

We followed Yelp to Sammich during a brief stop in Ashland. Sandwiches made with house-prepared turkey and roast beef were delicious. Long time Yelp user first time reviewer. This experience warranted sharing and I hope management sees it. I wanted to like this place so bad. Just moved to Ashland and I grew up in Chicago. A little taste of home was just what I needed. Coming here for it was a mistake. The lady taking the orders was rude and condescending when I asked for cheese on the Italian beef. Clearly she's never even been to Chicago because that's a common ingredient on an Italian beef there. She flat out refused to put it on the sandwich. Then I requested a plain roast beef and cheese for the kids without mustard and the fixings. Her quote was, "we don't normally do custom orders." Is it that hard to leave things off? Wasn't asking for anything difficult. Food took forever. Politely waited on the side standing as there was no place to wait for to go orders and all tables were full. The cook said, "you don't have to guard your food, these things take time." I know that, that's why I was just standing there! It appeared they did not make food in the order it was placed. Instead making the orders for people eating there first. Not convenient when wanting to grab sandwiches to take to Lithia Park. When the food came it wasn't anything special especially for $65 to feed my family and friends. As a new Ashlander this place left a horrible taste in my mouth. Maybe they need to send their employees to the Midwest to learn customer service and manners. read more

Well I have found the perfect sandwich shop finally!!!!! I never thought it would happen in Ashland then suprise here it is. The staff invites everybody in and make you feel like part of the family. They definetly have fun cracking jokes but when it comes to the food they are " ALL BUSINESS". This is a local place that everybody can enjoy. The food is carefully prepared with everything made from scratch. It is obvious that alot of love and attention goes into every product. As for the staff!!! well they really enjoy their work and incorporating their clientel into the entire experience, so when you go to Sammich, sit back, relax, rise above your ego, and enjoy the entire experience, it will be well worth it trust me. $11 for a sprout sandwich. I paid $2 to get turkey added and got 3 small slices that didn't add anything of substance. A single slice of cheese and avocado sliced as thinly as is humanly possible. The prices should allow them to be generous but they're only generous with the lettuce and sprouts, look at the pictures. Any more expensive ingredients are skimped on hardcore. This little deli has some of the best sandwiches I have ever had! The meats are smoked on the premises, and all the food has had such personal attention! My favorite is the Hammich (Ham and Swiss, grilled onions and dark mustard on wonderful bread cooked pannini style). There are so many and the portions are huge. I love the dill pickles, too! Sides are soup (yummy), potato salad (not to my taste but people do love it) Slaw and green salad. I have eaten there at least 1-2 times a week and can't get enough - and that's after 3 years! I've been there four times in the last two weeks, and have become a regular. Seems these women are making lots of new "regulars" whom I meet every time I go in. A buddy of mine turned me on to this place and now I have steered many friends and family there. Why? Well, it helps that they make kick-a$$ sammiches, and that the owners work like slaves to make their patrons happy, but I think the real draw is the genuineness of the place. I was put off by the manager/cashier pulling a pickle slice out of the plastic bin with her bare fingers and seeing her pick at her nose later with the same thumb and finger and then pick another pickle out. No hand washing in between. I watched. Should use the tongs. She is friendly and customer oriented, but the bare fingers thing was not good. The pastrami sandwich was okay but on rye so light it could pass for non-rye, and just an average sandwich at an expensive price. Chips are also not special. read more
