My A/C went out completely in the middle of the night on one of the hottest days of the year. I called many other 24 hour emergency A/C repair places and everyone was booked until next morning due to the high temperatures. I work every day and needed my A/C working so I could get some rest. Overnight low was forecast at 84! Anyways I called this place left my phone number and they said they would send out a text to see if any techs were available. I got a call almost immediately from Karl who was able to get out to me in no time at all. He got me fixed up in about a half hour at a reasonable price, especially considering the late hour. The high today was 105 and I awoke to no air conditioning. It appears to have stopped during the night and my house was at 85 degrees and rising. I called someone who wouldn't come to my location, but suggested calling Samm's. Shawn took down all my "symptoms" and said they would be here between 1 - 5. Carl arrived about 3 (i was so expecting 4:59 like the cabloe company does). Carl was courteous, professional, not scary at all, and knew exactly what to do. He diagnosed my problem quickly and said, depending on which part would work, my cost was between 400 and 700 dollars. Not cheap, but I was ready to pay anything. As it turns out, part, tax and labor was only $435. I felt like this was very fair. I didn't feel dupped or cheated at all. I recommend them and I definiitely would use them again. Victor came out this morning to do my yearly HVAC service and discovered that my Nest thermostat was not communicating in the most efficient way it could. The breaker was popping every time I turned on my heat. I called Samm's and they had Victor over the same day. He was extremely helpful, eager to help and informative. He explained the issue to me and even though he couldn't fix it (it required an electrician), he ensured I was educated on the issue and even tried to do a temporary fix. Karl from Samm's came by today to provide a regular maintenance that I had selected for my heater before all the "cold" weather (for Texas anyway) hits. He was super knowledgeable and I felt comfortable with his recommendations. I really don't like pushy or sales-y companies of any nature that have their folks work on a commission basis, and Samm's is nothing like that. We had Samm's replace our a/c and furnace about 8 years ago. The technicians that have come out to the house every year for the system checkup are always courteous, on time, and well-trained. Last year one component of our Trane system failed and they diagnosed the problem, ordered and replaced the part under the 10 year warranty at no charge to us. On our first day moving into our new (older) house, we realized that the AC wasn't working at all. First we called the contractor under our home warranty - the repairman came and claimed to have fixed the problem. As soon as he left, the AC wasn't working again. Several hours later attempting to assemble furniture and unpack in 90F heat (inside), we called Samm's Heating and Air Conditioning. BE AWARE!!! A simple fix that would have saved me time, money and unnecessary down time! I called Samm's Heating and Air on 01/03/18 because the heater at my retail business stopped working. I explained the problem and produced a drawing of the three units on my rooftop; two are new and one is old. Their serviceman did an inspection and said I didn't have any heat because there is no gas and I don't have a gas meter. He said I'd need to call Atmos and let them know. I questioned his explanation, and said as much, because I've had heat up until now. I called Atmos and they informed me we've never had gas to this unit. He told me he could tell there hadn't been a gas meter hooked up for years and also couldn't do anything until the meter was marked to my space. He informed me to contact my Management Co. so they could mark the meter if I wanted gas. My Management Company sent their experts, Crawford Services (fabulous and great prices), and they explained I have a split unit and said my heater has been running off electricity, NOT GAS, in the past. (That explains why I had heat.) He could also tell when he looked at my breaker box that it was electric, NOT GAS. So it was a simple fix replacing a part. I contacted Samms's because I feel I paid for a service call that was obviously not diagnosed properly, and because of their mistake, I had to wait an additional FIVE days to get my heater working properly. Unfortunately it's a he said, she said situation and I'm stuck with their bill. I have additional work that needs to be done for summer and they could have easily earned my business! read more

I spent big $ with SAMMs 2 years ago for both Furnace and A/C replacement. Was not happy with the 2 who left a paint job for me when they were done, but I decided to give them another shot since, well, they installed the system. No issues identified during the first year in which the service calls were free... Fast forward to July 2015 and I find that, for the annual maintenance, you have to pay for both summer and winter to get a maintenance visit for $75 a visit. Expensive to start.... The service tech arrived today and announced I have to replace a part - a Hard Start Capacitor for my A/C compressor - that is already blown after 2 summers and is, surprisingly, not covered under the TRANE warranty. My cost today for service and the part replacement was $345, and after the tech left, I find the part costs $50 on Amazon. Getting it into my unit cost me $270. Inflated? YES!!! Needless to say, I have given all the $ I will ever give to SAMMs. Buyer beware, unless you like to fill their pockets with your hard earned cash! read more

I took some time to write my review because I had to make sure that the heater and the AC worked, after all I installed it at the end of January in Texas. I had to adjust a little bit because the thermostats are so much more accurate but I have no complaints about the heat or the AC. I had to replace both my AC compressors and heating units. Sometime in August 2014 Russ came to my house and provided a very thorough inspection; he looked at some things that none of the other AC company inspectors looked at when providing their quotes. I took some time to shop around and to try and save some more money, since the units hadn't died yet, and I never felt pressure from Samm's to make a decision but I also didn't feel like they had forgotten about me. When I called and asked Russ some questions comparing quotes he was professional and took his time to explain the differences. After shopping around I made my decision to go with Samm's in January 2014. They had already provided great customer service on my old units and their prices were competitive with the other quotes but ultimately it all comes down to your gut feeling about who you want to install and maintain my equipment and so far I'm glad I went with Samm's. It was a two-day installation job and the guys spent the time to get it done right. The crew was very professional and friendly the entire time they were in my house and took the time to show me some of items they were removing to further confirm my decision. Due to some poor original installation of the original unit by the builders the lines were kinked inside the ball so they had to open up my wall but they got me in touch with a handyman to brick the holes back up. (I have actually used the handyman for some other services since then I was so pleased so even their referral was great.) On the second day (Friday) they even stayed until at least 1030pm to make sure everything was running right and explained to me before leaving. To further confirm my decision, when it was time to pay there was a small discrepancy between what Russ and I had discussed verbally versus what the team had on their work order but the foreman handed it professionally and everything was worked out. The crew also talked to me about a filter system and surge protection. Since I had just spent the money to install both units at the same time I couldn't afford the additional costs but I will have those added soon. We called at least a dozen local vendors, including the one we were on the contract with (won't mention their name, although I probably should!). He offered to help, but said he was on another service call at this time and it would be about an hour before he'd get to us. This company is above all the rest I have ever worked with. I bought an old house with outdated ducting. It required a lot of work. I also had a furnace that needed to be replaced. First of all, making appointments here is easy and seamless. The office staff is friendly and responsive. They remind you via phone and email the day before which I greatly appreciated with the several appointments I had for the new house. They showed up exactly when they said they would with several men to make sure they got the job done. They posted city compliance. There was a manager present the day whole time. All the team leads and managers are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. When the work was complete, they took pics of everything (offered for me to go into the attic but I declined) and explained everything. I believe the pricing was fair for the amount of work. Not to mention everything is a lifetime guarantee with their sticker on it that passes with the house. I have definitely found my HVAC company and I recommend you make them yours too! read more

Very disappointed in their customer service. I spent 30K+ on three new compressors 2 years ago, they were installed level, now one leans. The tech told me it was $215 to put a brick under it to straighten it. When I complained, they reduced the price of the brick to $150. Seems absurd. Even though they installed it level, they knew the ground was uneven at that time. I'm not sure why some companies can't understand accountability and strive to make a buck every chance they can. There are hundreds of others out there that do this same type of work, keep shopping. read more

I highly recommend Samm's Heating and Air Conditioning for reliable service and honesty. I have a very old unit about which I have breathed a sigh of relief at the end of the past 5 summers that it's still working. Samm's first came out last summer (Summer 2013) when the unit stopped working. Instead of telling me "Oh you have to have a new one" which less reputable firms would eagerly do, the technician simply fixed it for me. The same tech was here again yesterday (June 17, 2014) with the same result. Just fixed what was wrong ... and we laughed that I may be able to survive another summer with this old unit. I read in another review about being sent the same tech each time and I love that too. Over the 4th of July weekend, we were in the process of finishing up last minute renovations before our grand opening of our new business. Then my wonderful husband accidentally blew a fuse on our air conditioning. I frantically called several AC repair facilities around town and no one could come out to see us until Tuesday at the earliest. Except for Samm's. I contacted Samm's and they were prompt in responding. Karl called and said he could come on Sunday to fix the problem. He said he would be there at a specific time in the morning and by golly he was there! Prompt and courteous always mean professional to me. They told me $85/lb for R22 freon over the phone, but when technician came he was asking $115/lb to add the freon. Also quoting a much higher price to replace the coil, or if I want to replace the unit, I was saved since I already had other quotes. I work for a local business in the area and I called Samm's to come change my air filters, I specifically told them on the phone that our filter was always cut to size and different than a standard filter (I'm not in the AC industry, so how would I know exactly what kind). The sweet receptionist told me how much it would be for the visit and an estimate on how much the filter would cost. When the very nice technician came to help us out, he informed me that they did not have the filter on the truck and he would have to go get it to replace it AND that it would be an additional service fee for drive time & the labor to install (I had been quoted a 1 TIME labor fee for this whole service). I asked him to speak with his owner regarding my request to not pay DOUBLE+ labor fees to go get a filter that wasn't on the truck (this should be included in the initial cost of the visit, this cannot be the first time they didn't have the correct filter on the truck). He told me I needed to contact the owner myself. I called Paul, the owner, and he basically screamed about how this is normal to charge so much to change a filter because of drive time and labor (Paul, it's not my fault you didn't have what I needed on your truck and it is not fair to charge anyone with an old AC for extra service). After I very calmly explained to him that if this would have been quoted in the original pice I would be fine with it, but to have extra charges come up and NO SERVICE be done is absurd! Instead of understanding our situation and providing good customer service, Paul single handedly made us NEVER want to use the company again. After doing months of research and contacting no fewer than 5 HVAC companies, I chose Samm's. I almost went with company #4 but I am so glad that I followed my gut and kept on until I found the right one. When you are spending such an enormous amount of hard earned money on something so important it can be nerve wrecking! What was different about Samm's? Every interaction along the way. The first interaction was with sales. Nothing worse than someone selling you something (especially something you know you need anyway - *rolls eyes* Ughhh! lol!). Russ was knowledgeable and patient and explained not only what they do, but why and how. He was also the only one that did an actual heat load calculation and took the time needed to accurately assess what was right for my home vs just taking a look at the old unit and matching it. Nothing makes me happier than being GLAD to give my money to a business that I feel has EARNED it AND has my best interest at heart - not just theirs! My second interaction was with the installation crew. Daniel, Jairo and Franciso arrived on time, again explained what they would do and how long it would take and they checked in along the way to keep me abreast. They worked so hard! It was a 13 hour install. Having done my research, I already knew that this step is probably THE most important one and I am HUGE stickler for QUALITY vs quantity. Everything was installed flawlessly. My third interaction was with customer service, who called to make sure everything went well and to schedule the house cleaning session (nice perk, by he way! :)). My fourth interaction was with the inspector Marcus, who came by to double check the work of the crew. Other HVAC companies take note - THIS is how you make a lifelong customer! Im looking forward to working with Samm's to ensure I get the most out of my investment. By all means - do your own research - but I would recommend them in a heartbeat! read more
