Came for Father's Day dinner. Made reservations and glad we did as dining room was full. Appreciated seeing the reserved sign on our table with our name as it indicated planning and thinking ahead. Our server Nikki was great. All smiles and very friendly. Knowledgeable about the menu and the beer selection. Offered tasting glasses to my husband and son when they asked about one of the beers. I had the homemade Bailey's which was very tasty! Our appetizers (buffalo chicken dip and fried calamari) were delicious. All of us enjoyed our meals which were good sized portions and reasonably priced. The restaurant is clean and tastefully decorated. Parking lot is not great, especially on a rainy night. Sammy Brown's is home cooking - and that's a good thing. If you like "carrot essence" type dining you probably won't be happy, but if you want fresh ingredients, well prepared in ample portions, this is the place to go. It is a beautiful restaurant in the Adirondack style with a friendly waitstaff and reasonable prices. All dinner entrees come with bread, a small salad, generous potions of a vegetable and a choice of starch. I highly recommend the chicken Masala. Fellow diners also liked the pork tenderloin and a salmon dish. As another review mentioned, we were also there when they were catering a large function off site. Somehow they still managed to provide excellent food and service. Try it. You'll like it! read more

What a spectacular and pleasant place! We are here for the weekend up from Manhattan renting an AirBNB and came here for dinner our first night. The food was delicious and portions were very good size. The appetizers were so great and delicious. I personally had the salmon dish and it beat out most salmons I have had in Manhattan. This place was warm and cozy and was a nice break from the rainy day outside. Overall, the restaurant had a very classy atmosphere. We came in during their lunch service and were pleased that we were seated and served pretty quickly. The music fit the atmosphere but became repetitive once it became apparent that it was the same three songs playing over and over again. The bottled beer selection was very good but I ordered a drought and the pour was too heady. The silverware was dirty and had to be replaced. With a limited menu, the expectation is that all items will be superb, however both the chili and the stuffed mushrooms left a lot to be desired. The burger was hot and a decent portion but the bun was over toasted and too crispy. Perhaps we came in on a bad day or maybe the dinner service would have been a better choice, but regardless, we left disappointed. read more

The food is really wonderful, so good that we came for lunch and dinner. A little gem in the quaint town of Cragsmoor. Don't miss this one!

Nice place w/ great atmosphere. Our family had a sat night 7:30pm reservation. When we arrived we were kindly greeted & shown to our table upstairs. Wine & appetizers where delicious, especially the coconut shrimp & fried calamari. Also, the hot bread rolls are amazing! All of our entees were good- chicken Marsala, Sea scallops, sirloin streak & coconut crusted Salmon being the fam favorite. We didn't have dessert but definitely will be back to try more. We had been there once before for the light menu and it was good. However, we returned to eat dinner there and it was awful. The steak was as hard as a banker's heart, the chicken was dry and tasteless, and the sausage was burnt beyond recognition. My friend's food was also very compromised. What happened? My wife and I went there for V-Day dinner. Love the lower level ambiance but we were stuck in the loft at a small table pushed up against the wall. Service started well with drinks and appetizers but an 1-1/2 later we finally received our entree's, while the table beside us came in later, completed their meal and had received there check before our entree's ever arrived. Beautiful ambiance, good service, and excellent price point. The kids' Mac n cheese was like my mom made it. Loved the salmon. Wings and burger were good as well. While we dined, staff was in the midst of a 150 person catering job, and there were several other tables. Despite this we noted no deficiencies in the food or service!
