Horrible food. Service is slow. Ordered what I thought was a turkey dinner. Looked like slop. Wouldn't feed it to a pig. Sent it back. Waitress brought a menu and I ordered a BLT w/fries. Who could screw that up?!! They had no wheat bread. Asked for rye instead. The sandwich arrived and the bread was toasted in a pan. The bacon wasn't cooked, and the fries were greasy. Sent it back and didn't end up having anything there. Won't eat there again. It was the worst food I've ever had. Can I give it zero stars?!! read more

Vdry disappointed in my meal last night. chicken parm sub was ok, lacked sauce (very dry), partner had a cup of the chowder, way too much fake crab! the fish fry was good, but on such a hard roll for that delicate fish. Lastly the Philly was tasty, but the roll was not grilled, which meant the cheese was not melted. Tried to give it another shot, but will spend my money elsewhere. read more

Food is frozen, processed and low quality of these two things. Our server acted as if I should be serving her. She told us that her family owns the restaurant and her mother managed it. It was evident that "Mom" was not in charge, but actually "Anna" (i believe) did as she pleased. All around feeling of country, backwoods, crass, forget to brush your teeth type.... C'mon MOMMMM, get it together. We need a good restaurant in this town. read more

This was our first time as a group dinning out during Covid. The place was super clean and staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was good drinks were cold and a huge menu. We recently approached the owner of Sammy Cohens (Lisa) with a last minute request to host a small wedding at their restaurant. We will never regret that decision!!!! Lisa met with the Future Bride and Groom, helped them with menu items, decor for the banquet room and worked with them to plan their wedding and reception with less than a weeks notice!!! They prepared the room which looked beautiful, arranged for two servers (Courtney and Will: Love them both to pieces), who were beyond amazing, set up a trellis for a backdrop, decorated the tables and served the MOST amazing food! The experience from the first phone call to the end of the reception was picture perfect! Every single guest commented how great the food was and how beautiful the banquet room looked. Lisa could not have done more for us, she was excited for us and treated us like family. She met with the bride and groom two times before the wedding to ensure everything would be as they hoped, and checked in on the venue. And.....her prices were absolutely amazing!! We have a wonderful gift sitting right here in Schaghticoke and we are lucky to have a nice restaurant where we can go out and eat locally, and it is owned by someone who not only cares about the community, but each individual person who approaches her with a special (and very last minute) request. Visited for the first time after hearing that Chef Dave from Faldoni's became the new head chef last week. Very nice place in Schaghticoke just off route 40. Large U shaped bar, serving great drinks all night. Placed filled up around 6-6:30 with many friendly locals who talked across the bar. Had the NY strip steak cooked mid-rare and it was spot on, seasoned wonderfully with a tasty loaded baked potato. Staff is friendly and attentive. Food was flying out of the kitchen. Worth the 27 minutes drive for me. I will be going back soon. Looking forward to seeing what Chef Dave will bring to the menu in the coming months! read more

We just left this place. We were in there over an hour. The bartender was all alone but could not keep up with anything. We told her we just wanted to order apps and she continued to walk by us. There was no urgency whatsoever. We will not be coming back. Nor will many of the people in there. It was an absolute waste of our time. read more

We moved to the area in 1986, and this was our first visit. I was worried about parking, but that proved unwarranted as a big lot with plenty of spots was located just across the street. On entering the establishment was bright cheerful and clean. A friendly local crowd was at the huge well stocked bar. A fireplace burning added to the family atmosphere. Plenty of young kids and their families enjoying a Sunday evening. We were seated promptly by our waiter who was cheerful and appropriately attentive. My love ordered the Ruben and a Vermont Brew on Tap. I had the Parmesan Crusted haddock . Both were excellent! My side dish of carrots was not mushy and overcooked. The haddock was amazing, cooked to perfection and so tasty. My wife stated she had the best Ruben ever. Dinner with drinks for 50.00? Fantastic! We will be back! read more

I went here with my boyfriend who grew up going to the Village Tavern and later Henderson's...(Sammy Cohen's supposedly uses the pizza recipe from the original Village Tavern). He says although you can taste hints of the original recipe, the crust is doughier and neither the cheese nor sauce is as rich/creamy as the original Village Tavern/Henderson's pizza. If only Sammy Cohen's could get the original recipe right (using the right amount of American cheese each time) we wouldn't hesitate to give it 5 stars. The pizza is just inconsistent depending on who is cooking. With that being said, we haven't tried much of the other food aside from their wings. The hot crispy wings are delicious, but pricey for the portion sizes ($5.99 for 5 small wings). read more

We arrived at Sammy Cohens starving so we immediately ordered drinks and an appetizer. Our drinks came right out but no appetizer. Just when I started thinking that the service was particularly slow our entree arrived. We mentioned to the server (not our original waitress) that we had ordered an appetizer and the response was "Oh". No apology, no real response. Dinner was fine but a little bland. As we were finishing our appetizer comes out. We refused it. Staff never apologized for getting the order wrong. Won't be back. We should have left when we saw the place was empty. read more

We haven't been here in a while. Gave it a try tonight. Food was good. I had the chicken chimichanga and he had the New York strip steak. Everything ver well seasoned and good portion size. Good value for your money. While not the fault of our waitress, it was obvious she was new. She didn't know that there were s couple of special flavored margarita on the summer special list. She was on the slow side but very pleasant. Just learning the ropes and that's fine. Will return. read more

I can't say that the food is not good but they need much,much better management. Takes way too long to get any food served and if they are having a party going on when you go there you are going to have an even longer wait before getting served. My advice is don't go there if you are really hungry and expect to eat in a reasonable amount of time and if they have a party going on when you get there then leave. read more

I'm not sure about the bad reviews related to service. Tonight we had a huge party celebrating the end of our softball year with about 40 people. All I can say is it was probably the best service I ever received at a restaurant in 46 years on this earth! After ordering drinks we asked to have separate checks for each family. Waitress immediately agreed and went around and matched up each child by uniform number and wrote at least 10 different checks. She then went around and matched up the round of drinks to the new checks she created! Then two other waitresses jumped in to help bring out food pretty quickly and couldn't be more pleasant! I highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely stop back in if ever in the area! Oh and by the way everyone meal looked great with no complaints. I have one regret that I didn't order pizza after seeing others at the table. The pizza looked amazing!!!! read more

My wife and I go there regularly and the food and service is very good. Top notch. Great draft craft beer selection too.

Had dinner there twice. Food was not good, chicken like rubber. Wait staff was even worse.

Terrible service over 45 minutes to get food out and when order was wrong and brought to their attention they argued about it .The excuse for slow orders was other people placed orders in the restauraunt .well it was dinner and if they cant handle the schagticoke crowd on a tuesday night they should shut the doors.To top it off after we paid the bills a the manager ran out and accused my wife of walking out on a check her and I were in seprate cars . The meal started out poorly when the waitress brought my son a bottle of milk that was three days past the expiration date. I ordered a salad that happened to have a hard boiled egg. Service continues to be a problem here. The wait is always much longer than it needs to be. Tonight was six tables two waitresses and they were blaming the wait on the fact that the were slammed. The orders never seem to come out correct and there is never an apology. The prices continue to be too high. They make it difficult to support local business. So, we have been here many times and didnt enjoy the meal. I came with a bunch of friends for NYE and hoped for the best. We decided to order safe and get pizza. Everyone else got the special (filet). The food came out in a reasonable time but it was all cold . Our pizza was cold. The filet and sides were cold. One peson asked to reheat so they could actually eat it!!! Thankfully, The beers were cold cause that saved my night. The kitchen is near the bathroom which is about 20 below zero inside it so not sure if that makes the food cold or not. But, obviously, this chef does not check anything at the pass. Sucks cause the owner runs a pizza place and the pizza there is awesome.. but this pizza was made on a pre made crust that was probably thawed out juat before melting cheese. Ugh. I will not come back here again. Disappointed in this place anfd Gordon Ramsay would have a field day here and thrown them all out of the kitchen! read more

We got there ~3 pm. Had veggie burgers. They were ok, but watch out for the $3 flat sodas. Also, if you opt for slaw in addition to the French fries they charge you 75 cents for a tiny dish. Service was very slow. However if you want lunch at 3 pm on a Friday it's the only game in town. read more
