unfortunately, I have to stop going to this place. I've had great experiences there many times but when I was there on 1/28 Saturday around 5:30pm, I was greeted by the same lady that's helped me before but today she had a horrible attitude. You can see it on her face that she did not want me there. Well, that's how I took it. I asked for a specific burrito that I've order before and she had a terrible look on her face when she told me "we've never done a burrito like that before" but with a nasty tone... It was terrible. What's really unfortunate is that I was a loyal customer but not anymore. It's not my loss, sweetie. It's yours. Drove up right at sunset, caught the aroma coming from the building and knew I was in for a treat. If Sammy's was any more authentic, this review would be in Spanish. Ordered fish tacos and added rice & beans. They have self-serve chips & salsa that will hit you like an F-22 afterburner if you're not careful, but it's sooo good. The tacos were right on and the sides made it a perfect meal. I ended up licking the white plastic fork like a lollipop. Can't wait to come back and get more and try something different. read more

Rude, filthy, smelly, cold and bland food. I went in starving, once I decided to look past the smell of urine and sewage I found they had decent chips and salsa. The Carlos burrito was lacking in flavor and had chunks of cold meat in the middle. The owner kept rolling his eyes despite me being extra kind and nice. They had a child, maybe 10 taking orders and he couldn't answer a simple question of what was in the Carlos Burrito, so the owner "granpa" rudely took over. The food is pretty good but, when it is the guy working, instead of the lady, he never gives us the chunky tomato salsa for chips, and barely gives enough salsa for the food, gives a not nice look/vibe when have to ask for more salsa for a family's worth of food (2 plastic cups doesn't cover like 3 tacos and 3 burritos). The lady on the other hand gives enough salsa without having to ask, and provides a delicious chunky tomato salsa with the chips. The guy acts like the tomato salsa doesn't exist. Would be 4-5 stars if they got rid of the dumb old guy and get another nice person like the lady is. The lady is very nice and wishes us a good day and a "God bless you", the guy acts inconvenienced by customers and seems upset, even though good money is being spent. Couple weeks ago went thru the drive thru and the guy actually didn't give us *any* salsa for $30 worth of food, I checked the bag b4 leaving, asked for salsa, and he goes "oh you want some salsa?" Duh, it is Mexican food, shouldn't even have to ask. My family and I may be white, but we didn't just move here from Kentucky... we know good Mexican food... and it's not like it was our first time here either. So after pointing it out, he gave us 2 green and 2 red for the amount of food, 30$ worth. Again, the nice lady would have provided it without having to ask, and would have gave the chunky tomato salsa as well. Another time this last week, ate inside, spent over 20$, he gave us 1 red and 1 green, I literally had to explain "dude, this isn't enough salsa for the amount of food we have". He gave us 1 more of each, seemingly unhappy to do so. Shouldn't have to be that way. If you see the guy working, I'd just leave and come back another time, much better and nicer/friendlier when the lady is working. I feel it reflects in the food, bad service makes a meal unenjoyable. Though food is good, I think for meat tacos there is an even better spot a little further on west side, but for bean cheese burritos this place is the best I've found so far. I honestly feel the service we receive from the old man is because we are white. Not cool to make people feel that way. Their prices are on par with a sit down restaraunt with wait service, (very expensive), no reason to be so stingy with the salsa, especially when not asking for any extra/exorbitant amount, just the minimal, heck, some at all! to be able to enjoy the food. No reason to treat your paying customers with such cold shoulder. If it wasn't for them, you wouldn't have a business... It's one thing to not give "service with a smile", this is Lancaster, I gave up on that a LONG time ago... but to be given service with a bad attitude, that's not right, and I/my family are multiple repeat customers... read more

Stopped by this quaint little Mexican restaurant not too far off the 14. We were on the way to Lone Pine (hiking Whitney.) The place is perfect if you don't want to wait to find a place off of 395. The menu had a ton of options and had trouble deciding at first. Everything looked great. Finally settled on the Chile Verde Plate with eggs over medium and corn tortillas. The food is fantastic!!! This is the place for shrimp cocktail! Tasty shrimp and lots of them! Didn't take a picture because I couldn't stop eating the shrimp! Has a drivethru family owned. I want to go back and try the breakfast burrito. They also gave a selection of other seafood. I didn't go inside, just went thru the drive thru I know some people avoid sierra hwy but this place is worth the trip :) enjoy Update : been inside and it is cute, with tile tables Tried the shrimp burrito. 5 stars, so good, nice plump perfectly done shrimp. Decided to try this little place off of Sierra Hwy. We came here after a recommendation from my sister in law. Well, today was the day. We pulled in and there was no one here. We thought it was closed. It wasn't, the girl at the register was so friendly, and offered her opinion on salsas and made a few jokes about her dads mind frame when making the salsa so hot! She brought a sense of family, very relatable to my family. We ordered a bowl of menudo and the huevos rancheros. The place started to get busy and I enjoyed watching the food get made after each order. Nothing was "pre-made". There is a "bar" of salsa and chips available while you waited for your food. Our food was completed and the wonderful daughter repeated our order and we went and picked it up. We sat down and more people began to flock in . She greeted each one so sweetly, like a sister or a cousin would, if she was having people over for comida! Yes, that is the feeling here. Anyway, the menudo was served with cilantro, onions, chili, limes and tortillas( keep in mind that the menudo is served with pata and all the nerves- if you don't want to much of that, let them know) The huevos rancheros were very good. Not spicy which is always a problem for me because I have ulcers and spicy and I don't mix well. Seriously very good! We will be coming back to have lunch soon. I can't wait to try the shrimp cocktail with a nice cold beer! Please give this place a try, it's a family run restaurant with a good vibe and authentic Mexican food.
