Bagels are okay, nothing too special about them. They have a nice hint of sweetness from the kettle water, the bagel is layered neatly with an appropriate amount of cream cheese and lox, and that is about it. I looked at the other spreads they have, and I feel you can best get them elsewhere. The staff also does not seem too knowledgeable of their product, never a good thing when working in a restaurant. I may come back and order a dozen. They do take credit cards or a cash discount. read more

This has been our favorite bagel spot for years. They are open early (6am) BUT their grill won't be ready by then, so if you go there at that time before work, they will tell you that you'll need to wait a bit if you want to order any thing with bacon or sausage. Their bagel is has been our favorite and they always fill up the sandwiches, so you'll get a full hearty breakfast. Staff are always nice. What I look for in a good Bagel place is the bagel tasting good, cream cheese being quality and since I like Lox a decent flavor from that. I tried Sam's today and it hit the sweet spot on all three. Bagels were soft, tasty and good quality. Tried the scallion cream cheese, they put a decent amount on and it was also good. Finally the lox. I have been looking for a new bagel place for a while. Prefer lox not to have an overwhelming fishy taste but a little is understandable. This was enjoyable. Overall I think this is a good place and their staff is friendly and helpful. One of the best bagels i've ever had and i've had a lot! The sausage/bacon egg cheese sandwiches are absolutely amazing and very filling. I've also tried their cheese omelette and home fries where they give you a very generous portion and once again AMAZING, flavorful, fast! I regret to say that Sam's has taken two turns for the worse. The bagels have recently become big and puffy (bready), with the circular shape and toppings being the only things that identify them as bagels. It's precisely why I don't go to the other nearby bagel shop. The second disappointment is the rising price of the bagels - they cost 30% more than a year ago. They're now $1.25 a bagel (especially noticeable when buying dozen). When I first encountered the price hike I thought the server made a mistake and I just went with it. Today the hike was confirmed. I wish I can give them 100000 starts . To be honest I don't know why I've never written a review on one of my favorite breakfast spots . My coworkers and I've been eating from Sam's for about 8 years now . Ive literally almost had everything on their menu and it's so much to choose from . 1st of all staff there are like family , as soon as one of us walks in they already know our names and our orders lol. Especially the delivery guy Miguel. He knows everyone in the neighborhood . One time I was at an appointment in Bay Ridge and he walked in to deliver food and the whole staff was like " hey Miguel what's up" and I was like wow Miguel your freakin popular lol. Anyways One of my absolute favorite things to order from here are their home fries oh my goodness to die for. Everything bagel toasted with veggie cream cheese, sausage/bacon egg and cheese on a toasted roll. Chicken salad on a toasted everything bagel with lettuce tomato onions and mayo. Their salads are actually very good and fresh my favorite one is the chef salad. There honey mustard dressing oh my goodness. And when I order my iced coffee, I usually order when ever I see sam there , he knows how to make it best in my opinion . I get an iced French vanilla iced coffee with half and half and he makes it the best. My office literally orders from Sam's every single day like we know the phone number by heart lol . Decent bagel shop with a deli sandwich options. Stopped by for lunch cause the brisket house was closed for afternoon prayer. Sam's has your basic options for bagels, spreads, and sandwiches. Espresso drinks are instant from a vending machine but ice coffee seemed fresh. Probably a 4 star rating for the food ( got the montecristo sandwich and a turkey provolone on everything bagel) if service was better. Waited 5 mins before the staff of 5 guys acknowledged us waiting to order. Seemed like they were too busy talking to each other to greet the customers. Same thing happened for the customer after me...just kinda strange to have a bagel shop have slow service when they aren't slammed morning. Hopefully it was a fluke and they normally do a great job. I love Sam's, I go there almost every day and thought it was about time I wrote a review. My usual order is a coffee and a bagel with cream cheese. The coffee is freshly ground, and the bagels are always fresh and perfect in texture. No complaints. My current favorite order is the Everything bagel with Scallion cream cheese. I've tried a lot of the sandwiches and they've never disappointed either. The hours on Yelp say they open at 7 am but I've definitely been there earlier too. read more

Ladies and gentlemen (and mostly "new" Brooklynites), these are how REAL New York City bagels are supposed to taste. The perfect amount of chewy with crispy bubbles on the bottom. That slight glossy sheen. The texture and taste are authentic and perfect. I cringe when I hear people ask to have their bagels toasted here. Real, good NYC bagels should not be eaten toasted (watch the brooklynites on line, 85% do not ask for toasting)....just indulge as they are. Delicious! Thank you, Sam's! read more

Bagel was on the small side and the cream cheese options were very few. I must say the place is filthy. Workers were half ass cleaning the place- and sitting down 76% of the time. It was over 100 degrees in the place and the seats and tables were filthy. We still sat and ate there because we were starving after a long drive. I really want to give 2 stars based on service, as they have some of the rudest workers in the world but alas, the bagels are just too darned good to be that spiteful. The everything is a bit too salty, so I usually go with the garlic. These bagels are so wonderfully mushy inside and hard on the outside. The cream cheese, pastries and other spreads are standard but they have REALLY good turkey bacon. My parents like the coffee, but I do not find it bold enough. I have not, nor would I ever, ordered takeout. It just doesn't seem like that kind of place and I would hate to talk to these people on the phone. read more

I had an everything bagel around 11am, which is when I usually like to get my bagels as I'm a late riser. The bagel was fresh out of the oven and doughy. I prefer my bagels set and cold as to not melt the topping, which got everywhere. The bagel was also MUCH smaller than the ones I grew up with on LI. The bagels here are so fresh and tasty. I find myself coming back here for breakfast time and time again. Their bagels are so light and not dense and heavy like majority of bagels out there. The coffee is really good here also. They grind their own beans on premise. Although their bagels and coffee are really cheap and deserve 5 stars there are a couple of problems that I have with Sam's. The service here is RUDE. I don't think it's the workers fault - I think it's a reflection of poor management. The workers look overworked but they work quick. Don't order ahead of time. They'll put you on hold forever or they will simply hang up on you. But I still always come back to this Bay Ridge bagel joint because those bagels are so effing good. read more

While I am a fan of their bagels- they are the best in Bay Ridge by far (we have tried them all over the last 10 years we have lived here). I find it is better to just buy bagels and take them home and prep them the way you want. Delivery often takes upwards of an hour on the weekends and the consistency of prep is non existent. For example- sometimes there is almost NO cream cheese to speak of on a bagel. I haven't had the same issues with rudeness that others have mentioned- just slow delivery and no quality control with spreads. Go for the bagels, make them at home. read more

I am here almost every Sunday and some days during the week so it can't be bad. The bagels are good, and the service is great -- quick and accurate. I will add that like another reviewer I wish they delivered on Sundays, but it gets me out for a bit of a walk in the morning so I guess it is not so bad. read more
