DIY coin wash with a high pressure hose and detergent brush. These are all over the DMV but here's why I like this one; they aren't stingy with the detergent or the water. Meaning: In an obvious attempt to reduce costs some places clearly reduce the water pressure and (water down) detergent flow which reduces the overall efficiency of the wash. It's soooo obvious when it's happening too because what you get is a barely sprinkling water hose from someone's house and no suds. Certainly not the intensity to clean rims, for example....or knock down off-road dirt/mud. The change machines are always functional and dispense quarters (vs tokens like others). They've got the hand vac of course along with the fragrance gun as I recall. No credit card capability here like some others. Good wash. Better than Billy's in Fort Washington or Speedy Clean in Waldorf. $2 is the minimum for a small car but realistically you're looking at about $3.50-$4 unless you plan on moving at double-time speed. 4 stars. This place is a dump. I've been here 12+ times over the last year and it's just gone downhill in general. Garbage everywhere. Some of the vacuums aren't operational. Clean up the place - there are trash cans everywhere so use them. I come to these places to clean my car - not drive all over pieces that can damage my tires. I will never come back to this place and can't recommend. Hope they get new management. Used to love coming here. read more

Sam's is the closest self-serve car wash to the Springfield/Alexandria area, and it's actually really nice. There are several stalls, each with their own vacuum and large trash can. The wash bays have skylights so you can see what you're doing. Once you're through the wash bay, there is a row of parking spaces in the back where you can detail everything, shine your tires, etc. All of the equipment seems to be in good working condition, and the price isn't too bad - you can get the inside and outside of your car very clean for $10. read more

Great little place. It's always busy so be ready to kinda hurry, as the line behind you is little intimidating. They only take cash, but can change up to $20 bills into quarters by the center area in the machine. The wash service is what you expect from self-wash, and that's why I like coming here. You control what you do and how much you do it. I washed my car for about 15 minutes, came out to roughly $7-9 total, which is nothing compared to crappy brushless gas-station washes. Open from 4am to 1am, 7 days a week. This is the only place I get my car washed (I'm a little on the frugal side). Touchless, cheap, always a free bay. Plenty of space to towel dry your car afterwards, vacumms. Your basic self-service car wash. Open bay, cheap (2.25 for 4.5min), nice tooling, high pressure washer, soft brushes. Vacuums and plenty of open space to dry. $1 to vacuum with plenty of time to spare, $2.25 for 3.5 minutes for the wash. I pay around $6 and I have a cleaner car than any car wash will give me. The soap and wax are really good too. Hardly ever a wait even on Saturday afternoons. Go when it's really sunny so that your car mats will dry quickly. Plenty of parking space to detail your car afterwards. No one bothers you here, so you can pretty much do whatever you want. Don't be the a-hole that dries their car in the bay. read more

$10 was just the amount I needed to spend for my dirty SUV - presoak, soap blaster, foaming brush, rinse blaster with a little rag work, wax blaster, and another rinse. They do not have deionized water for "spot free rinse" but I'm not complaining. The brush was not worn out. Great value! So glad to have found Sam's. read more

Being relatively new to the area, I was surprised to see the lack of do-it-yourself bay type of style car washes. This place is right up my alley and worth the 10 minute drive. Plenty of room, inexpensive, and you don't feel pressure to finish quickly. As a woman, I feel completely safe to go here by myself and would highly recommend it to folks who don't want to spend $15 on a car wash. read more

I went there around 10:30pm on Saturday night and it was really dark and the location was in ghetto area. I have to say though, it was cheap and water pressure was so strong that I almost had muscle failure on my arm. Yes I would go there again but took me almost 30 minutes to get there. Pretty decent car wash. I spent about 7.50 washing and vaccuming my girlfriend's car (4 door sedan). Arlington/Alexandria definitely needs one of these considering that the car washes in the area are terrible and totally rip you off for a crummy job (I'm looking at you Mr. Wash.) This place has a brush and high pressure gun which will knock off all the dirt and mud you pick up driving around here. After washing your car you can pull forward into a vaccuming area and dry your car off so be sure to bring a shammy or whatever you use to dry your car off. All in all a good option for those not wanting to get ripped off by a Mr. Wash type joint and have about 15minutes to drive from Alexandria over to Maryland. read more

Worst D.I.Y car wash place ever. I brought my car here for the first time because I was around the area and going 40 minutes to my usual car wash in college park was unnecessary; though I regretted this decision. I came here at 6:30 pm and everything was cash. Luckily I had some cash on me. The first Bay Area I went into, I put about $4 dollars in just to find out that the machine was broken. I went 5 minutes around looking for an empty bay and I finally found one. At this time, it was already dark. And I spent half of my time washing the car in the dark. My car is black and I couldn't see what I'm washing. The pre soak was the weakest spray I ever had. It was more like a slight spray. Only enough to cover a quarter coin. The lights came on right on time for high pressure soak. The car was still dirty. Never coming again. Lost about 20$ for nothing. $2 for 3 minutes is a scam for what this car wash is worth. Upgrade your equipment and maintain them. Then maybe the problem will be fix read more

Other reviews fairly describe this car wash. If you are looking for a do-it-yourself stall near Old Town, this fits the bill. Just over the bridge, and about a minute from the Interstate. Plenty of stalls, good water pressure, plenty of space to dry off. There is a change machine, but it can be picky, so bring patience, or your own quarters. read more
