My only gripe was with the Grab and Go pizza from the portable oven. The pizza was overcooked and hard as a rock. This was actually the first time I've had this experience at this location -- most of the time the pizza is perfect -- but this visit, someone in the kitchen clearly dropped the ball, likely running it through the conveyor belt one too many times. My advice: open the box and inspect the pizza before leaving the store. This lack of oversight cost me a pizza dinner, as it was completely inedible. Unfortunately, driving back to the club to complain wasn't an option since I had guests over. Hopefully this is just a one-off, as I've always enjoyed the pizza here. Of all the Sam's I shop the El Monte location has consistently had the most incompetent management team and they should all be FIRED IMMEDIATELY! This store has always had issues from long check out lines while managers stand at the end of the lanes talking, no carts, and being out of basic commodities and I have complained about these in the surveys they send out. Today Monday April 6 (After a completely unnecessary closure for Zombie Jesus Day April 5) the store was grossly understaffed, pallets left in isles, carts overflowing with put backs and absolute chaos at checkout with 40 minute long lines at the 3 staffed check stands and long lines of people at self check out with only 1 associate to help manage the self checkout issues. In addition the store had only a few of those 10lb $60 ground beef logs, no 5lb packages and no eggs, it seems the stores management team rushed their close on Saturday and left the store barely staffed Monday when it is obvious they would be swamped. I shopped from 6:30p to 7p then spent 40 minutes waiting in one of the many ridiculously long checkout lines with TWO registers CLOSED! Well can't really say anything about lines, self checkout helps. I like the order ahead feature on the app for the cafe. I would say the produce section needs more oversight. The rotisserie chicken sells out fast and have only tried it once (decent quality). I would like more staff members available for assistance. Also the gas station is good enough. this location gets extremely busy, they are the most central located Sams and offer full service tires, battery, wiper, gas station, food court bakery and pharmacy. Did you know they install battery too! Costco doesn't do that!!! The hardest part with Sams is making an appointment, and calling them is difficult at times to reach someone. They are short staffed in the area of phone answering and of course the food court. However, a must do is the SAMS app, you scan items and purchase and then GO! literally, so you can skip the line. I'm writing a lower star review not because I don't think Sam's club is great as a whole and their staff are always friendly but because I've noticed some cafe services were not so great. At the cafe, they encouraged everyone to do scan and go and stand in line but the line gets so long and they take a while that the line to pay at the cashier is actually quicker. Some people got confused, sometimes they lined up at scan and go with their receipts and sometimes they were told to stand at the scan and go line by staff. There were some rude customers who made the services slower by complaining to the staff after getting their food already. Making ice cream is such a mission, the machine takes so long so if the person in front of you orders ice cream it'll be a while. Wish the machine is better at dispensing ice cream, but it could just be the size they serve in a cup and what they ask to flavor the top. Ok, so I was always team costco but recently decided to try out Sam's club when my brother got me a membership. It's like wal-mart, but not walmart and it feels a little bit like costco, but not really costco. Unlike costco in Alhambra, parking is a breezy and it's not overly crowded. I love their meat selections and their portions and I love getting their bottled water as well. It's a hit or miss depending on time and day you come, but calling I'd say don't hold your breath. The returns or membership usually is always backed up! The plus of shopping here is I can always use scan n go which is a definite plus! Halloween is a bad day to try to order from the café. I ordered a pizza about an hour ago and the line is consistently about 20 people long at app pickup since I arrived 30 min ago. A guy from the Cafe made an announcement just now that they are very very busy and backed up with orders and that it will be an hour and a half wait if you want to wait for your order. On my way to get a refund at member services. Another long line. Ugh. Be forewarned not to go anywhere on Halloween if you don't have time to wait in line in general, especially not at Sam's. My parents live near this Sam's Club, and I've been going here mainly for gas! Earlier this year, they were doing construction on the pumps, so you couldn't even get gas. Then it finally re opened, but there weren't too many improvements. Lines were still the same, and no additional pumps were added. Most recently, I drove by, and half of the pumps weren't working! Or sometimes, you'll end up in a lane where only one of the two pumps work! Luckily more often than not, they all work fine, and the employees in the booth are always very helpful. The Sam's Club itself is good, they have everything you need from toilet paper to snacks, a wide assortment of wholesale alcohol and more! read more

The meat section was pretty organized in my opinion. The snack section was so overwhelming because there are so many kinds! It blew my mind. And I see the same item in multiple locations. Then we got some food. The pizza was pretty good. We tried the pizza pretzel because it looked good but it didn't come out to what I was expected. Not sure why this place has so many bad reviews. I have been a Costco member for decades and I wish I had become a Sam's club member sooner. The crowds are a lot less stressful, lines to gas pumps are so much shorter, and they carry most of the essentials you need from a discount warehouse (toilet paper, diapers, food items, etc). They also have some sort of AI device when you leave the store making it easier to leave without having someone check your carts for stolen items. I guess if you're a thief, this would not be a good thing for you. Lastly, they carry grass fed ground beef and steaks which as of 2025, Costco does not carry at their Alhambra or nearby stores. Parking is a nightmare. It's always busy, but that's to be expected of such a big store. There's also a McDonald's in the parking lot which adds to the chaos. Staff are helpful, if you can find them. I wish the sections were labeled, it's tricky to find niche things when you're not sure where to even start looking. The food court is generic, but if you want a mediocre hot dog and drink at a very cheap price, it's completely worth it. We got to this Sams club every Sunday. Yesterday 9/14/2025 we were there as usual. I was pushing my 90 year old mom in a wheelchair I suddenly find out her leg area is bleeding. The Korean lady at the desk said she does not have bandage want us go to food service ask for one. I like how there's a Costco alternative for guys like me. I've recently discovered that Costco isn't all that great. You'll get trapped in the parking lot for 45 minutes circling around to look for an available parking spot. You spend over an hour inside and it'll take another 30 minutes to check out on a busy day. I'm a first time customer and I already hate it... I dread coming here. Gas lines are long and people are rude and entitled (a certain demographic is FOR SURE). The Pick Up is just horrible. The last visit for drive up/pock up I got my notice like 25 minutes before the cutoff time and was coming from another city. I got there 12 min after my pick up and I waited half an hour just to get a spot and waited another long time to get just a $40 order. This place needs to manage this area better!
