Great, no frills sandwich shop right off the main drag. We arrived at peak lunch hour (noon) on an early summer day and were able to place our order quickly. You can "make your own" from dozens of options but we chose ours from the menu and were not disappointed. Our two sandwiches (an Italian and the Santa Fe) arrived within a few minutes. Both sandwiches were huge and delicious and moderately priced. Glad we asked for our sandwiches to be made on baguettes instead of torpedo rolls; much more flavorful as a result. Lots of sides available as well as many drink options. Ate outside at one of several picnic tables which were covered with Mexican oil cloths. Would go back without hesitation. read more

My favorite sandwhich used to be the John Alden with stuffing at Box Lunch but now it is definitely the turkey club add avocado on foccacia. This isn't your standard turkey club it has honey mustard on it. Call your order in ahead of time, time moves slowly in vacationland. Really good. Full, flavorsome sandwiches and wraps, especially the build-your-own, and we thought the pricing was very reasonable: a sandwich with salami, cheddar, alfalfa, carrots, olives - $7.50 or so. Good range of water and sodas, and is attached to a beer and wine shop (Uncorked). When I was last there, there were 40 people inside, which meant quite a long wait, but gives evidence to its popularity and quality. Only downside is that there is nowhere to sit to eat inside. read more

The sandwiches, soups and prepared foods are always good. However, I was shocked to see a sandwich special called Shark Attack! on the website and posted in the store 2 days after the fatal shark attack in Wellfleet. That level of insensitivity would be bad enough but the two employees to whom I complained were completely nonchalant about the name of this offering. Sam's deli is a solid shop with solid sandwiches. But what sets them apart from the rest is their service. I got lost in the aisles looking for some lemons when one employee came to help. If it wasn't for him, I would have been lost for hours... clumsy me. He helped me find some lemons - and limes too! HANDS DOWN the best dang sandwiches in Eastham/Orleans/Wellfleet. Try the Nauset Light: focaccia bread with cream cheese spread, red onions, tomotoes lettuce and lovely, perfectly lean roast beef...num num num. Get 'em to go and drive 'em over to picnic at Coast Guard or Nauset Light beaches. They also have a small but nice selection of upscale groceries, and nice poultry and meat if dining in. read more

Out of all the "Deli's" my boyfriend and I encountered while in cape cod this year this place was by far the best!! The food is great, the bread they use is fresh and delicious plus they have tons of specialty items you normally wouldn't find in a tiny beach town deli. Best sandwiches on the Cape. You can tell this by the lines in the summer. Call and order your sandwiches in advance - otherwise you'll be waiting a very long time. The baked goods are also spectacular, especially the bread. They'll hold it for you while you go to the beach so that you don't need to leave a fresh loaf in the car. read more

My #1 sandwich spot on the Cape. Don't let the unassuming storefront exterior and the uninspired name fool you: this is sex on a sandwich. It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it doesn't need to: Sam's Deli has perfected its craft of making affordable, delicious, fresh deli sandwiches. Seriously though, the most unorthodox sandwich ingredient on their extensive sandwich menu is scallion horseradish cream cheese. Don't expect a radical new sandwich outlook here. My personal favorites are the Nauset Light, Chad's Idea, the Santa Fe, the Rock Harbor, and Vivian's Chicken Ranch. However, nearly every sandwich on the menu is good here. One last word of advice from a seasoned vet: get every sandwich on Focaccia Bread. I'm a follow-the-instructions-and-only-the-instructions-on-my-Lego-sets kind of guy, but this is one of the rare exceptions where I'll concede that an alteration greatly improves the original! read more

If you want to be spoken to rudely by a condescending cranky deli order taker, go here. The owner of this place should know that the woman (late 50s, short dark hair and glasses) who was taking sandwich orders was incredibly rude to to every patron around us with remarks like "Do you see the words 'Italian Sub' anywhere? In response to a patron innocently and politely trying to order an italian sub. It's a deli, pretty sure that is an acceptable order and doesn't require a reprimand. It was comment after comment like this to everyone around us. If you, cranky lady, are the owner, I find it very sad that you are doing a job that makes you so angry. This is another one of my favorites when visting the Cape. The have the best sandwiches around at very reasonable prices. Today my husband and I split the Western and the Rogers Meatball and both were super yummy. They also have yummy cookies, this a great place to grab lunch for a family or just for yourself. I love Sam's I really do. They have awesome sandwiches and a great selection of quality fresh meats and groceries. I do have a huge issue with the owner though. Owning a rental property just down the road from Sam's, I make sure I to tell all my guests about it giving it very high praise. They are mentioned on my website and in my welcome book at the house. Don't get me wrong most of the people that work there are very friendly even in the frenzy of the summer season. That can NOT be said about the owner unfortunately. She seems to be there more in the off season and that should be exactly the time when she is friendly and accommodating to her loyal patrons. This is clearly not the case. For a small business owner she really has no clue how to treat people. I will continue to frequent Sam's because it is convenient and great. I only wish I had said something the the owner minutes ago when she was so very rude to me. I'm sure she has heard it before but maybe just does not care! read more

The Nauset Light sandwich is fantastic, along with the Igor's Special and most everything else on the menu. Sam's is a staple for not only the tourists (it gets packed in the summer) but for the locals as well. I'm drooling just thinking about it. I've been putting up with the poor customer service at this place because the sandwiches are so good, but the rudeness I experienced this past weekend sent me over the edge. I'm there a lot, but the women (co-owners?) behind the counter never manage to crack a smile, no matter how friendly I am. Even when it is not busy they look extremely annoyed to be serving you. The other day they seemed fed up when I had the audacity to ask for a bag (to carry the four sandwiches I ordered). I'm going back to the Superette - not as fancy, but at least I don't leave feeling like I've been shunned by the mean girls at the cafeteria. read more
