Where the food is always good, here is the issue I had with todays experience. I ordered a slice of pizza, and a drink. There where pizzas in the display ready and 2 sleeves of cups open. The nice lady goes to the freezer before serving the slices and then opens a new sleeve of cups to get a cup when already 2 sleeves opened. Then I go to make a drink. Nothing worked except Dr. Pepper and Lemonade. I do sugar Free, so what I wanted, I couldn't get. The lady said all her Pepsi was out. Always looking for a great chili dog. This place delivers. They have great chili, close to the chili I miss from a now defunct drive-in I grew up visiting. In terms of hot dogs, I am usually only looking for chili and onions and Sam's had a very good one! My husband had the "Straight Up" dog and he added ketchup and slaw. He's pretty picky about his slaw and he thought Sam's slaw was great. We only wish that they might one day offer sides other than chips (ie: fries and/or onion rings). We also got two chocolate shakes, which were good as well. We will definitely add Sam's to our list of favorite places to get a hot dog here I. Wilmington. Went to Sam's downtown for the second time today. The first time they didn't make my dogs with the toppings requested and shorted me a dog. I sent a private message to inform them and heard nothing back. Decided today that maybe it was just a bad day for them and I wanted a few dogs so I would try them a second time. Love the staff, always friendly and welcoming (great sense of humor and very helpful)! Quality of product has room for improvement. Of my few run-ins with the ownership, I have not been impressed. I'm always more happy to see the friendly faces of the four staff members who are regularly there to serve the customers for an entire shift rather than the ownership who simply occupies the space when in the building. I remember a sams being in WV. I moved here to Wilmington and there was a Sams! The only place I've ever seen them out hot jalapeños on a hot dog and they are delicious! I've tried and tried but can't make a hot dog like this at home. We eat here weekly, the whole family loves to go by and get some dogs before heading to the beach. I noticed how many 5 star reviews yelp is hiding from them. Someone recently told me how yelp hides small business 5 star reviews, let's more of the 1 Stars show if a business refuses to buy into their expensive advertising services that are pretty much useless. This place is just the worst. Let's start with the chili cheese fries. Undercooked and hard in the middle. Even fully cooked, they would have been mediocre at best. And the hot dogs... more bun than beef. They weren't even particularly good hot dogs, tasting very "mushy", like too much filler is used do they can make them with less beef.
