The other day we passed Trolley Stop Grill and my wife flew into an intense poetic ballad about her love for these hot dogs. I thought to myself she must just be idolizing this place since it reminds her of her childhood, but I was wrong. It is legit amazing. We went in today for lunch and I was in love from the moment we pulled up in our car. Trolley Stop has a great feel and atmosphere. The staff are nice and food comes out quick. I ate two Nathan's All-Beef hot dogs with the North Carolina and All The Way toppings. They were the perfect amount of food for a hungry guy. I also got a side of potato salad and it had that home made taste that screams summer BBQ. Prices are cheap all around, but don't be fooled, because the quality is high. There are even vegan and vegetarian options for your uncle who does yoga or your hippy loving aunt.

Trolly Stop is a quick stop must when you are in wilmington. The location is easy to get in and find parking. Veggie dogs offered :) great kids meal :)

What a joy to see the Trolley Stop Cart off Market by Auto-Dentz!! These dogs hit the spot on a hot summer day!! I love all the different toppings and will be back to try more!

Ordered from GrubHub because I wanted to try someplace new and have a craving for a cheesesteak. First thing was that Grubhub says no minimum but was going to charge me an extra $2 for a "low dollar order" so I added a pair of cookies to satisfy the requirement. I will give props to the delivery though, it was quick and the driver was super nice. Now onto the food. I was kind of disappointed when I opened the package and saw what would be considered half a cheesesteak at the usual place I order from. The meat was charred and there was no discernable cheese on the sandwich. It just fell flat. Then I opened the cheese fries and saw that's where the cheese was. While they were still warm and gooey they were COVERED in a cheese sauce. They were almost too much to handle. The oatmeal raisin cookies were soft which I was excited about but their flavor had a little extra something in them which I couldn't put my finger on. Definitely sweeter than an average oatmeal cookie which didn't sit well on my tastebuds. All in all the delivery was top notch but I don't know that the food was anything to write home about.

Trolly Stop is a local staple and has served me well as I have grown up in Wilmington. I am not sure if it the difference in ambiance, but I do prefer the beach location over this one. I feel as though the workers at the beach location are more bubbly and the food comes out much hotter. However, if you are looking for a complete meal, this location is the one for you. We went for their happy hour special and got some Surfer Dogs -- which are a must if it is your first time eating at a Trolly Stop location. Also, you can replace any dog with a veggie dog, which I highly recommend as they taste nearly identical.

It'd been awhile since I'd visited Trolly Stop, so when 5:30p hit, they popped in my head immediately for dinner due to my inner burger craving. This was the first time ordering a burger from here but their dogs and phillys have always been fantastic, so why not try something different? I hadn't eaten all day and was starving, so I ordered a double cheeseburger with bacon, grilled onion, lettuce, mayo, tomato and one pump of Trolly Stop's "pump" cheese sauce to top it off. I was expecting smashburger patties but was delivered a monster-of-a-sandwich. Each patty is 1/3rd lb and, fully dressed, was close to being a 1 lb burger. It was cooked to my liking, the ingredients shined and my hands were stupid messy...the way a burger should be. It's not my top burger, but this one was damn good nevertheless. I'd order this again but only if I were sharing half with someone else. Taste and presentation, overall? 4.2 stars. The service this time around was pleasant and the employees didn't seem to mind working at all. With the exception of 4 or 5 flies I observed gliding around the beverage area, the place seemed clean. In addition, I would also recommend handling customers' food, directly, with some gloves rather than raw-dogging it with bare skin. This experience made for great photo ops, but unless you just scrubbed your hands with pure lye and a brillo pad for 5 minutes, I prefer a food handler to use a protective layer between their hands and the food I'm about to consume. Aside from this piece, I enjoyed what I ordered and I'm not sick 24 hours afterward. Trolly Stop employees.......let's get some food prep gloves on, ok? SCORE: 3.8 STARS!!

While that was disappointing, I understand that delays happen. The bigger issue was the fly infestation toward the back of the restaurant. The flies were practically covering the mirror behind our table (as shown in my photos). While we were waiting for our food, they mostly stayed on the mirror and seats, but as soon as the food arrived, they were constantly landing on it. I spent the entire meal swatting flies away from our plates, which made it very difficult to enjoy our food. As for the food itself, the blueberry hush puppies were amazing! Unfortunately, the rest of the meal was disappointing. I ordered the Biscuit Shack, and it was served on tough bread with a slice of cheese that was still cold, as if it had just been taken out of the refrigerator and placed on top. Two other dishes at our table also had eggshells hidden in the food. Overall, between the flies and the food quality issues, we likely won't be returning.

We came yesterday and didn't want to wait but then came back today and got our group on the list and waited. Inside it's pub style, bar available and good music, but not much seating which explains the wait ;) We ordered the 109 Chestnut Chicken Sandwich, the Hot Roasted Pork Sandwich and the Reuben. Our waitress recommended not getting the onion rings app and to do it as sides to save money, and man, we had SO MANY leftovers. The pork sandwich is super good but so filling. I could only eat half with all the onion rings! The Reuben was absolutely delicious and I would 1000% get that again. The best thing on the menu in our opinion: the Cheese Steak Egg Rolls with chipotle mayo- OMG. We will DREAM about these!!! I haven't seen these talked about much- TRY THEM, they were literally mouth watering and I would have eaten them as an entree and not an app! Well they must of ran out of seasoning because these were more flour than flavor. Very doughy with no spices. Not worth the $9 * The alcohol mix drinks are pretty good. It was great weather this night, so we opted for an outside table that was in total shade. Very comfortable. Our server came by for drink orders. We had no appetizers this visit and went right into entrees. We tried the Port City Burger, the Gnocchi with chicken, cilantro lime shrimp quesadillas and the salmon tacos. Everything was delicious. The only complaint I would have is that the Salmon Tacos was a bit small. The dish is two small tacos with a side of tortilla chips. There is no salsa, no pico de gallo, no slaw. I was actually sorry that I didn't get an appetizer. I was still a little hungry after I finished. We didn't want any of the dessert offered this time. Again, everything was great. Service, food, atmosphere, outside patio. Just my dish was a little less in size. I will keep that in mind next time we visit. I'm not sure something like this would be changed on the menu, but I still wanted to voice my opinion. Still a great place with a great menu and service. If the weather is good, opt for the patio. It is really nice sitting out there.

As we started in to the clam bucket, I soon realized that there was no andouille sausage and a bunch of oysters mixed in. There were supposed to be a dozen clams, but there wasn't- not a huge deal, but when there was no sausage and we had to wait... it was odd. I'm not usually an oyster eater, but since they were in there I decided to try them. They were good! But- more than half of the clams and all but one of the oysters were closed. I was only offered a shucking knife. Huh? I was also given no plate for shells, no small fork to get to the clams. Just odd.
