Very disappointed with my visit. My ketchup was severely expired, food was maybe a 2/10. Onions were old. Ordered from GrubHub because I wanted to try someplace new and have a craving for a cheesesteak. First thing was that Grubhub says no minimum but was going to charge me an extra $2 for a "low dollar order" so I added a pair of cookies to satisfy the requirement. I will give props to the delivery though, it was quick and the driver was super nice. Now onto the food. I was kind of disappointed when I opened the package and saw what would be considered half a cheesesteak at the usual place I order from. The meat was charred and there was no discernable cheese on the sandwich. It just fell flat. Then I opened the cheese fries and saw that's where the cheese was. While they were still warm and gooey they were COVERED in a cheese sauce. They were almost too much to handle. The oatmeal raisin cookies were soft which I was excited about but their flavor had a little extra something in them which I couldn't put my finger on. Definitely sweeter than an average oatmeal cookie which didn't sit well on my tastebuds. All in all the delivery was top notch but I don't know that the food was anything to write home about. read more

Trolly Stop will never get my catering business! They did a NO SHOW the day of a scheduled event for my granddaughters high school graduation party of 40 kids and parents. The day before we confirmed the time of the arrival of the food for 4:00 pm and they said "Oh we need to be there are 5:00pm instead. Well the invitations had been sent out for the 4:00 pm food time! There was a mad rush to let everyone know that the food would come at 5:00 instead! Then the next day was the event and they did not call but sent an e-mail that they couldn't make it! When you are getting ready to have 40 people at your house for a graduation party you don't always have time to read e-mail! So, there was no Trolly Stop for the High School graduation party. Everyone there knew of the NO SHOW and will not be using Trolly Stop for catering. read more

Trolly Stop is a local staple and has served me well as I have grown up in Wilmington. I am not sure if it the difference in ambiance, but I do prefer the beach location over this one. I feel as though the workers at the beach location are more bubbly and the food comes out much hotter. However, if you are looking for a complete meal, this location is the one for you. We went for their happy hour special and got some Surfer Dogs -- which are a must if it is your first time eating at a Trolly Stop location. It'd been awhile since I'd visited Trolly Stop, so when 5:30p hit, they popped in my head immediately for dinner due to my inner burger craving. This was the first time ordering a burger from here but their dogs and phillys have always been fantastic, so why not try something different? I hadn't eaten all day and was starving, so I ordered a double cheeseburger with bacon, grilled onion, lettuce, mayo, tomato and one pump of Trolly Stop's "pump" cheese sauce to top it off. I was expecting smashburger patties but was delivered a monster-of-a-sandwich. Each patty is 1/3rd lb and, fully dressed, was close to being a 1 lb burger. It was cooked to my liking, the ingredients shined and my hands were stupid messy...the way a burger should be. It's not my top burger, but this one was damn good nevertheless. I'd order this again but only if I were sharing half with someone else. Taste and presentation, overall? 4.2 stars. The service this time around was pleasant and the employees didn't seem to mind working at all. With the exception of 4 or 5 flies I observed gliding around the beverage area, the place seemed clean. In addition, I would also recommend handling customers' food, directly, with some gloves rather than raw-dogging it with bare skin. This experience made for great photo ops, but unless you just scrubbed your hands with pure lye and a brillo pad for 5 minutes, I prefer a food handler to use a protective layer between their hands and the food I'm about to consume. Hot dogs are comfort food for me. Whenever I travel to NY or Chicago I seek out the local hot dog flavors and wherever I've lived I've always looked for the best local hot dogs. In Wilmington, Trolly Stop takes the cake as best local hot dog eatery. I most often eat at the Trolly Stop on Fountain Dr. The staff is always friendly and greet me with a smile. They don't make authentic Chicago dogs but their local flavor and speciality dogs are more than good enough. My go to dogs are the UNCW, the Mexican and the German. They also have NY style onions in red sauce for when I want that NY street dog taste. Eat here! The owners are great people and they make the best dogs in Wilmington! read more

Rude service, not sure if they were inept or just enjoyed being rude. Food was awful, asked for 3 beef dogs and 2 Turkey dogs and received all Turkey dogs with the wrong toppings, an unsubstantial amount of toppings, and to top it all off: the dogs were gross themselves. And if that wasn't enough, as I received my food one of the employees yelled, "Turn that damn light (open sign) off!" Pitiful compared to the location on lumina at the beach. Glad I know that this isn't what the Trolley Stop should be like else I would never go back. the manager at this location has a bad attitude, he is rude and very unsanitary!! He dresses like a slob!! he opens and closes the location whenever he feels like it. the store is dirty, sticky floors, dirty tables, leaf blower always on table or laying around somewhere in the store. the manager takes up a table to sit and play on his phone while he should be cleaning. food is at best the worst of any of the locations!!! read more

Great price, friendly workers, clean and many different hot dog choices. For about $5, you can get a hot dog with fixin's,chips or German potato salad and a drink. The hot dogs are not the big ones, but that little meal will fill you up. If you don't think it will, add on another dog. I like this place. read more

We have frequented the original at WB for 30 years and love that this one is closer to home, with an expanded menu and parking. Can't go wrong with the original menu and buns! My son loves this place so thankful it's extremely affordable, great quality and quick. Currently open until 5pm. read more

This location has lost focus on what made the Trolly Stop a local restaurant favorite, good hot dogs. My hot dogs were served in cold, hard buns, not the soft steamed buns that made Trolly Stop dogs seem to melt in your mouth. The chili was bland and luke warm. If you want hot dogs like the original Trolly Stop at WB, you have to go to the location in Southport or go to Louies in downtown Wilmington. This Fountain Drive location has a much broader menu, but the hot dog quality suffers as a result. With the downtown Trolly Stop location closed, I want this location by UNCW to be good, but it has disappointed me multiple times and I will not return. read more

As long as I have lived here I have never been to the Trolly Stop! No real reason why other than I dont love the idea of hot dogs. Don't get me wrong, I have loved a hot dog at Red Sox game! But on this day I was starving, I hadn't eaten, it was 2:20pm and I was headed to my hair appointment a few doors down that would last 90 minutes. I walked in and was surprised how big it was inside, they have indoor and outdoor seating, which even allows pups! There was a tv with baseball on and the staff was friendly and polite. There was far more than just hot dogs on the menu! Burgers, fries, inexpensive combo meals, and a great homemade "hot sauce". Having been employing a weight loss lifestyle for a year I now look at menus differently, but this one looked great for families, college students and men! And also for everyone else, emmaone should be able to find something to chomp on. I decided to try a cheeseburger, without the bun, with lettuce, tomato, catsup, mayo and their spicey "hot sauce". Made fresh right in front of me! They were friendly and accommodating. They had many tempting extra treats at the checkout, Hershey Ice Cream Treats like the "Neighborhood Ice Cream Man" for $1.99 - tough to resist - but I did! I took my burger with me to eat under the drier, and boy was it good. I think the signature "hot sauce" really made it great. The color is unusual, and its not like Red Hot or Tabasco, but its great! They sell it in small and bigger sizes, great stocking stuffer or Easter basket addition for the guy in your life. The GOLD standard for the best hotdog available anywhere. The Trolly Stop dog is better then you can get on Coney Island, NY and I have had many of both. Not sure if I should write a review or not, inasmuch as I got the sh*ts after eating here (not sure if it was their food or my tummy issues, tho) ... but there were a lot of hot dog options and you can make your own with up to 3 toppings included in their $2.95 price for a dog. The buns are steamed and soft & fresh, the hot dog seemed boiled or something, I would've liked a grilled one. It was okay. I have eaten here for years & totally understand we are all working under a lot of stress right now. I was disappointed to only see the person taking the orders wearing a mask. No one making the food was wearing a mask & they were carrying on conversations. There really is no good way to social distance there. When I arrived home, I found my order was not complete. The bag was stapled so I couldn't check it. They offered to have me come back to pick up the overlooked item or they'll put my name on a sheet for when I return. I had never been to Trolly Stop in the 3 years I've been here. It's better than cookout and five guys which I hold near and dear to my heart. My friend who's vegetarian says they have the best black bean burger around. I'll have to try it next time i go. I had a phenomenal chicken Philly cheesesteak which I could not finish in one sitting. The food is awesome of course, but the manager (or at least I think he's the manager) is rude not only to customers, but to other employees. He always seems rushed and frustrated to be taking orders, even if I'm the only one in there! I've heard he has a bit of a reputation for it, too. For example, the place only has one bottle of ketchup. One bottle for a place that only sells hot dogs, burgers and fries, that has seating both indoors and outdoors! And if that ketchup bottle finds a way to someone's table, he gets angry. I hate to give this place only 3 stars because the food is great and affordable (it's really hard to find a place that sells veggie dogs), but I always cringe when I walk in and he's working.
