While we waited for the food, we chose a booth. I loved the bright yellow color throughout the dining area, I noticed it was very clean, and they have vinegar and ketchup at each table. I also used the bathrooms, and they were very clean, smelled good, and air conditioned. When our food was ready, they called out our order and offered us tap water which I accepted. The hamburger and all the toppings looked very fresh. The flavors were simple but good. The hot dog was okay, I wish the meat or dog were a little saltier. The chili cheese fries were good. It had a good amount of each topping and it was a good serving size. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. When we were done eating, one of the staff members helped us with our tray - throwing the trash away and putting away the tray. I was very pleased with quality, prices, cleanliness, and customer service. We only realized this when we were leaving, but they have a table outside where you can eat. Also, the parking lot is a good size. The only inconvenient part about this place is that it is off a main street so it can be tricky to cross two lanes of traffic (if applicable) to get in / out of the lot.

C'mon, people. It's Haven Brothers…read more Is it a true, objective, Michelin-style five-star dining experience? No. Absolutely not. But that completely misses the point of Haven Brothers. This place is a Providence institution, and sometimes you have to review a place for what it actually is rather than holding it to some ridiculous standard it never intended to meet. I used to frequent Haven Brothers pretty much every weekend when I was driving down to Rhode Island from college, and more nights than I can count eventually ended here. There was something about finishing a night out, wandering over to the trailer, climbing inside, ordering some food and standing around Providence with a collection of equally hungry people that just worked. Friday and Saturday nights could produce quite a cast of characters, too. You meet all kinds of people around Haven Brothers late at night, and honestly, that's part of the entertainment. There's also something genuinely fun about the place itself. It's not a conventional restaurant. You walk into the trailer, place your order, watch the food being prepared and take in all the history surrounding the place. Haven Brothers has been serving Providence from its mobile diner since the late 19th century, and there's something wonderfully old-school about the whole experience. The burger I had wasn't the best burger I've ever eaten, and I'm certainly not going to pretend it was. But it was big, it was good, it was satisfying, and after a long night out, that's really all I was asking of it. The prices are also refreshingly reasonable, especially considering how expensive everything has become. You can get a substantial meal without feeling like you need to take out a second mortgage, and the service is impressively fast. But here's the thing: you don't really come to Haven Brothers because you're searching for the finest hamburger in Rhode Island. You come because it's Haven Brothers. It's the trailer, the history, the late nights, the characters, the downtown location and the feeling that you're participating in something that's been part of Providence for generations. For me, there's a tremendous amount of nostalgia wrapped up in this place. I spent plenty of college weekends ending up here, and coming back now brings back that particular feeling of being young, staying out far later than you probably should, and deciding that greasy food at an absurd hour was somehow the perfect conclusion to the evening. So yes, I'm giving it five stars, even though I freely admit the burger itself isn't a five-star burger. Sometimes a place earns five stars because of what it means, not because every individual component is flawless. Haven Brothers is one of those places. It's a Providence institution, it's fun, it's affordable, the food is good, and the service is fast. If you're in Providence and you've never been, go experience it for yourself. Then you'll understand why people keep coming back.

I was especially convinced to go when I did because they had a deal going on for Central Falls restaurant week which was too good to pass up: 6 burgers with a small fry for $12. I took two friends with me to help me finish all the food. We added lettuce, cheese and mayo to the burgers for $1 each upcharge. We also ordered a homemade lemonade each. They have about eight flavors to choose from but we went with strawberry, pineapple, and passion fruit. The food came out quick. The patties were a little bland in color, but the flavor was there. I wish they had toasted the buns. We requested the fries to be made dirty which meant sprinkled herbs which I think helped with adding flavor. Their fries are on the thicker side which I am not the biggest fan of but they still tasted good. I ordered a chili dog but I sort of regretted it singe it was messy and I felt like there was too much going on. Our server was very kind and patient with as (we were asking for lots of requests). They have a parking lot which makes it so much easier to dine in.
