Fifth stop for the day. Second of the final three on today's RI FOOD FIGHTS Lord of the Pies run. Six pizzas total. By this point you start questioning your life choices, but then you walk into a place like Cosmic Pizza Steak & Weiners and remember why you're doing this. Cosmic Pizza was home base for Pilgrim High School kids back in the '80s. The place we'd hit after basketball and hockey games, when pizza was fuel and community was guaranteed. Walking in tonight felt like stepping into a time machine, except everything's been upgraded. The location moved down the street from the original spot. Cleaner now. More modern. Brighter. The kind of place that kept what mattered and improved everything else. And the pizza? Better than it was back then. The place was packed. Standing room only with about fifteen people waiting for orders despite the ovens running full tilt. Tables full, to go orders flying out the door. A neighborhood spot that's clearly still doing what it's always done, just evolved. Rob, the manager, runs the room like he's conducting an orchestra in the middle of a rush. The place is buzzing, hectic, absolutely humming with activity, but he's got it all under control. And somehow, in the middle of all that, he still takes the time to talk to you. Makes it clear how grateful he is that you showed up. That's not just good service. That's genuine hospitality under pressure. The pizza justifies the crowd. The crust is what stands out first. Super light, airy, crispy in a way that feels almost delicate but still has structure. Not thin crust territory but not thick either. Just right for what they're doing. The sauce brings herbs forward. Savory, not sweet. You can taste the seasoning, taste the intent behind it. The cheese is quality stuff, melts right, browns in the spots that matter. Whatever toppings you order are going to be good because they're clearly not cutting corners on ingredients. The operation itself is something to watch. Tons of people working, all moving fast, all under pressure. But every single one of them smiles. Acknowledges you. Makes it clear they're grateful you showed up. That's culture, not accident. That comes from the top down through Rob to everyone on the line. Nostalgia can mess with your judgment. Makes you think things were better than they were. But Cosmic proves you can go back and find something actually improved. The energy is the same. The community feel is the same. Everything else got better. The space, the food, the friendliness of everyone involved. Fifth pizza of the day, stomach protesting, and this one lands differently because of what it represents. A place that's been feeding a community for decades and somehow got better instead of coasting on history. Worth the wait. Worth the crowd. If you haven't tried Cosmic yet, Id recommend. Easily of the best pizza and grinder spots I've had. It's a little small but still had plenty of benches for seating. Service was pretty quick and food is flavorful. read more

On Wednesday we checked into Hampton Inn in Warwick Rhode Island. We had dinner at Cosmic Pizza Beef & Weiners! They don't call them Hot Dogs around here; they are called "WEINERS" & I was corrected more than twice when I called them Hot Dogs! Here on their weiners they put Meat Sauce with mustard onions and celery salt. I had to try one! Not going to lie. Not half bad but the meat sauce aka chili where I come from was a little bland. If you're looking for the closest spot to the airport for a weiner, Cosmic is the place. Right off of Post Rd, it is ready to find with it's brightly lit sign. Inside we were greeted by the Pizza Queen and she was a charming ray of sunshine as we placed our order. The place was hustling to pump out food for a busy Saturday night. Once we placed our order we sat down at one of the many booths available in the small dining room. While we were waiting, a woman was expressing her dissatisfaction for an order of chicken tenders she had received. They were overcooked. When she brought it to one of the guys in the kitchen's attention, the first thing he did was try to explain why the food was overcooked. The woman was very kind about it, but she was firm that as a customer of over 13 years she has never experienced her chicken tenders being this crispy before. The cook continued to argue with her, with a second cook joining in. I think they finally realized that maybe they should make the customer happy when they noticed that all of us in the dining room were staring at them as they were arguing with this poor woman who just wanted properly cooked chicken tenders. It sounds to me like their oil was just too dark to serve food at the classic golden brown color. After that, our food was ready. And that's where things got better for us. The weiners themselves were perfectly cooked, beautifully soft steamed buns, the meat sauce very flavorful and just the right amount of mustard onions and celery salt. The fries themselves were unseasoned but we quickly fixed that with some salt and ketchup. While I did overall enjoy my dinner here at Cosmic, the attitude of that cook left a sour taste in my mouth so unfortunately I don't think I will be back. The only reason why I gave this 4 stars as opposed to the 3 I initially wanted to, was because of the Pizza Queen, her stellar service and the fact that I did enjoy the food. Rats scurry about the dining room...NEVER EVER AGAIN. Place is very grimy and dirty. It pains me to have to write this I ordered several times a month there...pizza, Steak and cheese, Ceasars Salad...now just thinking about it makes me drunk heave. I can never go back. I know its a common problem but actually seeing it ...I walked out and the girl brought my order to the car and apologized. Sandwich went in the garbage and never been back and never will. Dude, who may have been named Rob, cashed me out and did not give me back my credit card. 10 minutes down the road i realized it, I turned around and went back in, he claims he did not have it. Did not get a good feeling, he was rude and unsympathetic. I've had Cosmic Pizza twice this year, and both times I was extremely satisfied! Both times, I ordered the large barbeque chicken pizza, and it was delicious. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone who's looking for a new pizza joint to try out. I was also presently surprised when they gave me a complimentary small cheese pizza with my order. This is a small location the both times I've been there I noticed a lot of regulars come here, they are greeted by their names. They don't currently have a paper menus but do have a QR code and boards up with specials. I got the weiners on both stops which I recommend.. it's a small space with one game machine read more

We are visiting the area for my husbands job. We stopped here and and dined in. We ordered a couple of pizzas, which were fantastic, but they were so warm and friendly! They cut our kids pizza up and even let it cool before giving it to us. They checked it over with us but to even take the time to think of our family dynamic was so awesome and welcoming! Cosmic Steak, Pizza & Weiners is a no frills place that offers (as the name woukd imply) cheesesteaks, pizza and hot dogs. As I said, it is definitely a no frills place, so don't walk in with any expectations of ambiance, but the food offered here (cheesesteaks, pizza and hot dogs) were never intended to be anything even remotely closely associated with high brow. The cheesesteaks here are pretty good and something that I would recommend. This is what I had on my visit and it was both filling and good. The pizza didn't look bad. If I find myself up here again (I travel quite a bit for work), I woujd return and maybe I would try the pizza. The cheesesteak would probably be calling my name, though. Customer service isn't the greatest. The food is great. The phone should not be at the register its hectic and makes the cashier direct her attention to her call and not you. Ive been charged two different prices for the same exact item within a week of each order. We called in an order for pick up, waited the 25 minutes and showed up and they said two minutes. We were driving through the Northeast on a road trip and we stopped overnight in Providence one night. Admittedly, the city is thin on good food options. We had to do laundry so we had to find food nearby a laundromat and lo and behold: Cosmic Pizza. First of all, the restaurant is visually unappealing, but about par for the course with a restaurant like this. If aesthetics don't bother you, that won't be an issue. The portions are MASSIVE, and reasonably priced. You can hear the conversations going on in the kitchen and for what it's worth, all the people working here seem very personable and like they're giving it their all. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the food whatsoever. My party got pizza and steak sandwiches, and both left a lot to be desired. At best, bites were painfully average. At worst, it was disgusting. The pizza, in particular, was poorly made with uneven tomato sauce and bland cheese. Cosmic Pizza, personally, was among the worst places we ate at during the trip. Why a 3 then? Personally, rating the experience, I would give it a 1. As for my party, the other four at least enjoyed the experience, one loved it so much he said he wouldn't mind having one back home. I also feel bad giving this place a rating too low, as it is an authentic place with good people running it. The locals seem to love it, so what does it matter what I think. If you try it, you might be like the other four people I was with and enjoy it. If you fall on my side of the aisle, don't say I didn't warn you. read more

I was craving hot wieners and stopped in on a whim for the first time. they were excellent, bun was steamed & soft, wiener was hot, meat sauce was to die for!! also took home a spinach calzone which was really stuffed with a lot of spinach!! where do i begin , You walk in you get greeted by a friendly staff ... i was there for about 5-10 minutes i felt very welcomed and felt a great sense of pride from everyone behind the counter . The staff was rude, prior to my order being completed, I asked for my total and was told "Sorry I cant do that right now". Once I notified this place of a stone cold order, they brought me my order hot and wanted my cold order back. No problem. 1.5 hour wait, we call for status, they put the credit card number in wrong and never called when the card was rejected. They argued about when we called, then said our order just came out of the oven and was leaving now. We got cold food. Not even warn, COLD. I always have a problem with being sent the wrong order, or something not being made as requested, regardless of possible allergies to an ingredient, which is why something is ordered a certain way.
