I had the seafood pasta...no seasoning at all, very bland. I also had the calamari and lobster bisque. Both were very bland with little or no seasoning or flavor. I was expecting at the very least a little salt, pepper, or Old Bay, but I was disappointed. I probably will not go back. read more

Most tender gyro meat, you simply cannot go wrong. I've tried one-a-many of hummus, and this is hands down the best in the south, I've gotta say. Rice is amazing. Baklava is always nice and moist with the best syrup poured over. Also, I know a good tzatziki sauce when I try one. Simply amazing, if you're a Mediterranean food lover like I am, you simply cannot pass up this opportunity. I could go on and on about that gyro meat. Also great atmosphere. Good amount of checking in on food by the chef, Sam. Lovely wait staff and just a cute homey feel. Sam's is what a locally owned restaurant should be, but rarely is. It's owned by the chef, and the chef cares about your experience. The menu is an eclectic blend of everything Sam likes, and Sam loves good food from all over the world. Of course the Mediterranean dishes are off the charts, but the Prime Rib is some of the best you've ever tasted. And the Bacon Bourbon Jam Burger os just drop dead delicious. Service is informal, friendly and efficient. Occasionally you may wait for a certain entree, but you must realize that nothing is off the shelf here. Most specialty dishes are prepared to order. And in the middle of it all is Sam! He's a little guy with a larger than life personality and enormous talent. If you are tired of the chain restaurant experience, Sam's got the cure. Used to love Sam's our family visited 3-4 times per month. We haven't been back in about 2 months due to the restaurant always being out of our favorites and unpredictable hours. Hopefully they have gotten their order fulfillment back under control! I miss their food as it was always delicious, but it was frustrating to not be able to satiate the cravings for their food when they were consistently out of things like hummus--at a Mediterranean place. Packed on a Tuesday night! That tells you something about the restaurant right there. Add to it that parking was limited due to construction around the place and it only reinforces the truth that this is a great restaurant. Cindy was my server and she was attentive, friendly, and had great recommendations. Tried the blackened shrimp and key lime pie. Both were excellent. What a wonderful experience! My family and I were impressed by the reviews but even more impressed when we got inside. The food was flavorful, fresh, and filling! Sam the owner greets everyone and personally ensures everyone's order is exactly what they want. Rachel, our server, was so personable, attentive, and sweet! All the other reviews nailed it on the head...except for the one negative. The food is so flavorful and fresh! When the owner/chef comes over as soon as you sit, explains the menu and makes recommendations, cooks your food himself, and then presents it to you himself you feel like the queen of Grayson! Now granted we went at a slower time on a Sunday (before the lunch rush) but still! Sam is so friendly and welcoming and we will be back again and again. They have a great brunch menu on the weekends and you can order from their full menu as well. The omelets were so good and those country potatoes were the best! read more

Definitely my favorite local restaurant and one of the best gyros I've ever had, but it doesn't stop there -- the American style food (burgers, fried chicken, Philly cheesesteak, fries) is just as good as the Mediterranean. First time visiting, but it won't be my last! Came in with two friends for lunch. It was fairly busy inside, but not at all chaotic. Our server Ally was very sweet and attentive, and Sam (the owner/chef) came out to welcome us to his restaurant and make sure everything was delicious (it was). The food came out quickly and everything was delicious. I highly recommend the hummus and the gyro - both were very good! Also, per Sam's recommendation I tried the country potatoes as my side and BOY were they good! Perfectly seasoned (without being spicy) and full of flavor, crisp on the outside and smooth on the inside...to die for! Found this place by accident. So glad I did, though. I ordered fries with my gyro. They were perfectly seasoned, but Sam brought out an order of his Country (Greek) Potatoes...will never order fries again. They were the best tasting potatoes I've ever had. Sam's on Main is a fantastic restaurant. When we arrived we were seated promptly and the owner, Sam came out to greet us. He shook her hands and told us about the many wonderful things on his menu. He even advised us on which entrées are fit for sharing. We ordered and the food came out quite quickly. My lentil bean soup was delicious, my husband's lamb gyro platter was amazing, and my daughters prime rib Philly style sandwich was wonderful. She especially loved the au jus. From beautiful Benedicts & crispy hash browns covered with fresh Pico de Gallo; yummy fried green tomatoes and a delicate lobster bisque; to fantastic fried flounder or prime rib on weekends; all professionally prepared and and presented for a satisfying and tasty dining experience. A new, larger, facility is in the construction process nearby. We have never been disappointed with the food and service here since we moved to the area nearly a year ago. The food was delicious. Sam introduced himself and was wonderful to describe the menu options. But the server and her lack of attention was awful. We had to flag her down for everything. Our drinks were all empty for 10 + min while she passed us many times and never asked if we needed anything. We observed the table next to us get up and go to her in frustration of being passed by. What a surprising little restaurant in Grayson! It's Mediterranean/American and let me tell you, absolutely delicious! On top of the amazing food, the owner goes around to each table, making sure everyone feels welcome and answers any questions. My mom and I originally were going to order 2 separate entrees, but he recommended we should split the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and the Mediterranean flatbread, which was plenty! They have big portions, and it really showed that he cared about the customer, and it's not all about the money. We even had leftovers! Great little local place to eat! Have had numerous meals here - fantastic gyro, amazing flat breads and prime rib on a Friday night. All the food has been excellent and the owners are sweet, chatty and friendly. Service has tended to be a bit off. They have quite a few wait staff standing around chatting when the kitchen appears to be backed up. Have to wave around to get your check and interrupt the young waitress's conversations. Not good. So although the service needs to be stepped up a bit, the friendliness and yummy food makes it worth going back. read more
