    Sandwich was really good.
    Greg B.

"We're not going to Diamond Dolls, are we?" I ask as I drive my Chevy Equinox northbound on Powerline Road. "I mean, listen, I get that they serve free food at lunch, but I was thinking more along the lines of a sub sandwich." My co-worker asks me to place my trust in him. He says, "You need to place your trust in me. This place exists." And, so it does. It's located in the warehouse district on Powerline Road. It's difficult to find. I honestly didn't know it existed. The search on Yelp was long and hard, and Yelpers reported that this place closed. However, I visited today and this place is very much in business. Could it be that it closed and then re-opened? Hmmmm? Anyhow, I ordered a cold turkey and cheese sub with chips, and a bottle of water. I cut out soda two years ago and haven't had one since. I drink water with everything ... at lunch time. The sub sandwich was surprisingly good. Better bread better subs, I say. They use Boar's Head products, too. Everything seems really fresh, including the white onions, lettuce and tomatoes. I had them put some Italian seasoning, oil and vinegar on it, too. It was really good. Don't judge a book by its cover. You should travel to this place and enjoy its terrific sub sandwiches. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's better than La Spada's (several locations) and V&S (Boca Raton), but it's worth a visit.

Amazing food!!! Very clean and fast. The subs are addictive.

The only downside is it is a little expensive. The meal pictured in other similar ones we have had with a plate of food is around $15 to $20. However, given the quality and what you would pay at a restaurant it is reasonable, just more than I would expect from a hot food bar. They do a great job with their coffees as well. The barista takes a lot of care in preparing each cup and makes sure the presentation is immaculate.

A few small tables set against the wall and a few larger tables on the outside sidewalk. Doesn't look like much thought was placed on the design here. Service: Didn't wait at all for one of those small inside tables. My server was efficient and served my tea latte exactly as requested. Little things can often make the difference between a successful dining experience and not and here were a few of the small things that were provided that make a difference. I ordered the pancakes and my server suggested a side of scrambled eggs. The food: I received two pancakes which were well done, light and fluffy and the perfect size. I also received plenty of butter (so many places don't give you enough butter) an ample amount of steamed milk for my tea (another area that always seems to be pretty hard to get right). One thing that always drives me crazy was the fact that my scrambled eggs were served in the same dish as my pancakes. I hate this as the syrup inevitably gets to the eggs. Fortunately, I had a second small dish under my tea (which is also a great thing to get, to place my tea bag). I used this dish for my eggs. Another nice convenience was the mug for my tea which had a handle that I could actually put my fingers through (another area that restaurants fail to provide). In addition, I also ordered a side of sausage which came in patties form and was pretty tasty. The Bottom Line: As always my "customer so what" would I come back? The answer, probably. Although the ambiance was substandard, the food was good the service was as well so, it more than likely would be worth another visit on my next stop in town.

I tried a few pastries and loved how buttery, soft, and flavorful they were. If you're a bakery lover, this part alone makes the visit worthwhile. The desserts and pastries feel a bit upscale, and you can expect about a 15-20% price bump compared to similar cafés. The space itself is small, and it's really more of a grab‑and‑go spot than a place to sit and relax. There's no free tap water, so you're required to purchase bottled drinks, which may be a downside for some. The service was somewhat slow, though the staff was attentive once they engaged. However, the overall vibe wasn't very welcoming. A few long‑time customers seemed frustrated and even got up to complain after being ignored for a while, which was noticeable. Yummy pastries. Didn't see any stellar food. Our food was just average. We felt Café Brie on Atlantic had better food, but Chez has great pastries. Because of the limited seating, lack of water, and the uneven service experience, I'm not sure I'd choose to dine in. The drive‑thru or takeout might be the better option for enjoying their fresh baked goods without the wait.

Lauderdale and drove over here since we were in the area. Their fish tacos were one of their popular dishes so I opted for that and my husband got chicken cordon bleu. We also got the trout dip with pita bread but I didn't get a picture of that because we were all starving and then dessert was key lime pie and pistachio gelato. I did not expect the tacos to be so big. I also got this place mixed up with another place called the beach house so I was looking at the completely wrong menu! I took a pic for anyone looking and didn't feel like clicking 4x to get to it on their website. Back to the tacos -- the slaw was very juicy so don't forget to place your napkin! The mango salsa was not too sweet to overpower the rest of the taco and the beans and rice -- we were told was cooked in beef broth so it was very flavorful! It was way too much food to eat in one sitting (although I somehow managed to down 7/8 of that gelato it's a stomach mystery! And I don't like keylime pie so I didn't try it but the crust looked AMAZING! See ya in March! Fast forward to today, and it's a completely different story. Everything we ordered was outstanding. The steaks were massive, juicy, and cooked to perfection, easily some of the best I've had anywhere, and I've paid top dollar at high-end steakhouses. The Hawaiian ribeye, in particular, was incredible, tender & juicy. The wings were huge and packed with flavor, honestly some of the best wings I could ask for. They've also stepped up their starters. The new bread with honey butter is insanely good, and the avocado eggrolls with tamarind sauce are absolutely next level. I added on the crab cake which is of insane quality, big lump pieces, it's actually hard to find breading. Service was just as impressive, attentive, smooth, and genuinely welcoming. I even had the chance to speak with the manager, Dani, who explained they made a major shift away from distributors that were hurting their quality. They went back to basics, focused on what made them great in the first place, and it shows in every bite. This was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time, across any cuisine. J. Mark's is back, and better than ever.
