I hate to do this but I feel like I have a duty to warn. We called Samson to get an estimate on replacing the roof on our garage. He came out right on time, was gracious and told us how much it would be. Based on that and the good reviews we went ahead and scheduled the job. They were no shows. No call to explain, no email, nothing. We called and emailed and it wasn't until the next day that I got a very nice apology email back saying that the truck had broken down and we will reschedule. That was over 2 weeks ago and since we have called, emailed a lot and no response back. I even let him know I was going to write a bad review to warn others and nothing back at all. So beware. Its February 1, 2019 and Samson did a complete re-roofing in 2005 on my Studio City Home,.When he originally did it, they came, they worked, they cleaned up every day and the job was beautiful. Since that time to today the roof has had NO LEAKS, the gutters worked perfectly we were completely satisfied. Recently I had a cable guy come out, he went on the roof, a flat spot, and mysteriously it started to have a small leak in the rains.Mind you, 2005, no leaks, well, today, Samson came out, 14 year later. He goes on the roof after immediately finding the problem, fixes it, friendly, happy to do it and yes there was a hole in the stucco next to a cable that was pushed through the vent but I couldn't be happier with Samsons work. Given the recent torrential rain that fell upon SoCal, it exposed a leak in our roof. Samson knew right away what was causing it (improper installation of a rooftop AC/Heater unit). Given that our roof was on the end of its life, we opted to replace the roof rather than repair it. Overall, I found Samson to very professional had an internal drive to do things the right way. I researched some good practices when it comes to roofing and it was reassuring that Samson does all of them. He installed a cool roof and some fan vents and the roof looks amazing. The installation looks solid and neighbors have commented how it looks really nice. Also, his price was fair compared to other similarly rated roofers. Samson is amazing. Really honest guy. Came out to the house i am in escrow on, DIDN'T CHARGE ME like many of the other roofing companies do for an estimate on a house under escrow!!! His price was half of Shea roofing (Shea roofing folks were total jerks to me in addition to being exorbitantly expensive.... plus Shea roofing charged me $250 to give me an estimate that was $12000!!!) Samson estimated at $5500 for the same job that Shea quoted at $12000 and Samson didn't show up an hour late! He was super polite and honest about what should be done and what doesn't need to be done. He came out the day after i called him since he was in the area too! He's the dude. Made an appointment. He showed up early. He was friendly and personable and gave an estimate that was better than the other five I received. Crew showed up the following Monday and stripped the roof. The next 3 days his main man, Pablo prepped the roof, supervised the delivery of the shingles, and replaced the rotted wood on our back porch so that it looks new...all by himself with the fires and winds to the north going on! Inspector signed off that Thursday for all the repairs and the next day the crew came in and replaced the roof. All were friendly and polite and had the job completely done by 3:30 that Friday afternoon and when they left, the very little clean up they had to do, made the place look like no one had ever here. All in 5 days and It looks beautiful!! He's the best and I would recommend him to anyone. read more

I'm late in posting this, but Samson did a great job on my roof replacement. I had a number of vendors quote on my roof replacement, a torch-down flat roof very common in the San Fernando valley. The quotes ranged from $11,500 to $33,800. That is an INSANE range, and most were towards the top of the range... Samson came in at $12,700 but that included a LOT more than any other vendor. He not only had his guys demo and fix any dry rot, but gave a thorough consult on the condition of the existing sub-structure and sent me photos via text at work. This is a simple thing, but so helpful when you can't be there 24/7 to work with contractors. The work was fast, efficient and the guys cleaned up nicely every day. I ended up adding a complete extra layer of 1/2" ply to beef up the roof as well as an e-layer to help with the Summer heat. They were done on time, and did a great job. Since most consumers will have no idea what to expect in a roof replacement, it is really refreshing to have the owner of the company show up to do the consult. Samson is the ONLY vendor out of 9 that did this; it made the difference. He has done many, many roofs in this area, lives close by and simply knows what he is doing. He does not need to rip people off; he has enough work to make it work at a fair price, and said so. In addition, Samson has a pleasant, calm demeanor and that also helps immensely when you are unsure of what you are buying as a consumer. Thanks for the great job and easy experience. Highly recommend Samson Roofing for all your roofing needs! Contacted Samson via Yelp and he was quick with his response. Scheduled an appointment for the next day for him to give me a quote. He was honest with what was needed to be done. We asked about the gutters but he said we didn't need it. Samson handled everything including getting the permits. After we decided to go with Samson, he got to work quickly, got the permits Monday and finished the reroof by Friday morning. He came by to check out the progress and we ended up adding some reflective coating for torch down portion of the roof, which helped cool down the room by a lot. The roof came out well and now it's more cooling and ready for raining season. His staffs cleaned up the worksite well. Samson was also nice to give us other tips about exterior maintenance of the house. All in all, he was reliable, responsive, honest and personable! I cannot recommend this company enough. First off, their quote was over 15% less expensive than two other quotes that I obtained. Second, the work they did was quick and very thorough. They removed the prior roof down to the wooden boards, replaced deteriorated/rotted boards, placed the fabric sheet and shingles, as well as new gutters and down spouts in less than one week. They left the property clean and neat when they were done. Samson, the owner, is a very nice guy who stays close to the project to ensure everything is done correctly and to his high standards. First of all, I rarely write reviews. However, Samson Roofing went above and beyond. If I could give them more stars than "5", I would. I have a mid-century modern home and I badly needed a new roof. I called 6 contractors and received bids from all six. Not only was Samson more professional (and timely) than the others. He suggested additional repairs that the others had not (for the same price). Samson showed up on time and returned calls PROMPTLY. A number of the roofers I contacted returned my calls a week later or not at all. I am extremely happy with the quality of their work and my new roof. The crew was very professional, cleaned up the property thoroughly and hauled away all debris. In addition, my chimney brick had been partially painted in white mastic material, years ago, to prevent leaking around the chimney (the rest is red brick). Samson suggested that he would paint over the white mastic (artistically) with custom red paint to match the rest of the chimney brick. So, now it has a uniform look. What other roofer would do that???!!! That's what I mean by above and beyond. I can't say enough good things about them. Definitely give Samson a call for your roofing needs. He took care of everything from start to finish. They had to remove 3 layers of old shingles before installing my new roof. I picked the palest shade, amber since I want the least sun reflection. The roof looks great and I can already tell my utility bill will be lower. With the added roof vents and a pale roof, my A/C does not need to come on so early in the day:) Glad the new roof is done. I was very pleased with my choice to use Sampson. They pretty much only do roofs because they don't want to mess around with their reputation by using other contractors. Prices were competitive and there was no up selling.They were efficient and cleaned up after themselves. They took pictures before and after A few days later they graciously returned to my home because i had a question. Tip: when you choose the color, go with white for energy savings. I had a flat roof that they finished with the special white coating. My sunporch is now 15° cooler. Unbelievable! read more
