    Hibachi Chicken and Shrimp
    Star S.

We went here after my niece's dance recital and it was pretty lovely. There's a decent sized parking lot so you don't have to worry about where you can park but when it's busy, I'm not sure if there is additional parking. Now let's get into the food and the service. The service was lovely and our waitress and the cook were great! They now give out little balloon headbands which are super cute for the kids. There were 3 kids at the table (since you share the table if your party isn't big enough for the whole thing or a certain amount passes, you get the whole table to yourself) and each got their own balloon. The food could be better as I am not sure why it felt slightly overcooked because my shrimp just had that overcooked vibe and the chicken was dry. I wish these two things that you're paying so much for, would taste more juicy within each bite than dry. They mask it with sauce which doesn't help in this case and the amount of food for the price seems worth it. Overall, it's worth trying it out or going back to. I would probably try other things on their menu than just hibachi.

We had a great dinner celebrating our daughter's birthday. We all had sushi. We tried the Lobster and Crab lover rolls which we enjoyed, the spicy roll combo and also some plain sushi. Followed by soup and salad (the dressing was good but not prefer more ginger/less mayo) and then we shared a hibachi dinner (filet and shrimp)...the steak wasn't that flavorful but overall the dinner was good and a generous portion (forgot to snap a pic) we had great service especially on a busy Saturday night. We opted to sit in the back at regular tables instead of the hibachi tables since we mainly came for sushi. The Hibachi tables sounded really fun though as there was a great crowd in the restaurant.

This was my first hibachi experience and it was pretty fun. I always thought you were obligated to participate in the awkwardness of them tossing food or shooting drinks into your mouth but you can just gesture "no thank you" and they'll move to the next person. I was not too fond of the chicken but the steak hibachi looked great. It was very entertaining and before we knew it the meal was over. Everyone had a blast and definitely a great visit with a group or few friends for a birthday celebration.

Over my most recent last two visits here, I am sad to say I feel the place has gone downhill - at least in the non-hibachi area. The waitresses are terrible they have no people skills and ultimately rush you to order right away and rush you out when we barely finished eating "want your check now?" literally when we took the last bite. It wasn't crowded and we were only there maybe 20 minutes. The rushing really thrown me to not want to be back and I saw her doing it to others. If I didn't want to ruin the mood of our day, I would have said something to the owner, that is not how you have a business. Additionally was disappointed at how small the peppered tuna got - it used to be fresh larger rectangle size strips and nearly all cold but the edges, today they were small triangular sized and overcooked. Unhappy.

Absolutely delicious hibachi chicken and filet with fried rice

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and very happy with our hibachi experience here at Watami. We had an excellent chef which made the hibachi part super fun. The food was absolutely delicious! The salad and soup to start had such wonderful taste. I ordered the hibachi chicken and filet with fried rice. All of it sooooooo good. I love the vegetables also. I could probably go and just get the vegetables and rice. I cannot wait to come back. The reason for the 4 stars. The staff at the desk seemed less than thrilled to be there. No one greeted us. We had to keep getting their attentions to ask questions. 2 were on their phones. But hey! The food and the cook and our waitress were great!

Went to Watami last night for dinner. Some of our party was late so we could not be seated until they knew their order. We had a drink at the front bar while we waited. They have a keyboard that you can stand on and it lights up. Im sure its a lot of fun for kids since 40 year olds enjoyed it. Once seated our orders were taken and the chef came out shortly after. Harry was our chef and was amazing!!!! He seriously put on such a great show. All of our food was amazing and a perfect night. It was my sisters birthday so they even brought out cake and sang to her. I found that the menu was pricey. It was my first time going to a hibachi dinner in a long time so maybe its normal now? Despite the price, I would definitely return for hibachi again!

Good restaurant. I have tried their Sushi Rolls and one coktail drink. Tuna Lover Roll: I love Tuna and this roll was perfect for my taste. Kiss of Fire Roll: A little too spicy but delicious. The drink I had, was the reason why I didn't give 5 stars. It's cheap (6 dollars) but I didn't like it at all. It made me cringe. My friend says It's ok, so I could be a little picky. None of us drank it though. Overall, it was good. I liked the atmosphere. It's absolutely worth the prices.

I come here, at least once a year, because my dear friend always has his birthday party here. Expensive, obviously, but worth it nonetheless. The food is great, the hospitality, the service, and the show that they put on as a cook. Definitely coming back next year!

This was my 2nd time coming here. It was delicious. And the portions are very generous.. I took home enough for 2 leftovers after I had already ate a good bit. The salad dressing is probably the best I've tasted at a hibachi restaurant. This was the 1st time having the salmon. I was very pleased and will be back visiting again soon.

Salad sported a creamy ginger dressing which was exceptional! The soup was spot on. Filet and chicken combo comes with rice (fried or steamed) or noodles...the noodles are excellent and steak, chicken and vegetables were seasoned to perfection. Our server was great too, she was quick and attentive. I'll definitely be back!

Went here for lunch with some coworkers and overall it was pretty good. The gyoza appetizer was great but the sushi was just okay. The sushi wasn't anything special in my opinion, just some basic sushi.

I have been to Watami for lunch a couple of times as well as take out and it is always very good. I have yet to try the hibachi but I can imagine it is very good. The restaurant always seems to be busy. I get sushi and miso soup and it is consistently good. The avocado roll is my favorite. I would not say it is the best sushi in the whole world but for West Mifflin Pa it is very good! I really like their miso soup; it is very flavorful and delicious. It is very reasonably priced as well. I definitely think if you live around here and have never been you need to stop in and grab some sushi.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and parking was fairly straightforward. In terms of the food, the ingredients were surprisingly fresh. The garden salad was essentially iceberg lettuce with cherry tomato and cucumber, but that was perfectly refreshing alongside some of the other dishes. The bun bo hue was nicely seasoned, with noodles and fresh ingredients served on the side. The veggie banh mi was quite good, and packed with more vegetables than we expected (broccoli, bell peppers, onion, plus the typical jalapeño, pickled daikon, cilantro). We ordered fresh rolls with crab, and they were okay, but not spectacular: next time we might opt for shrimp. The Kim's delight entree offered some nicely fried tofu and fresh vegetables, but it was fairly heavy on the noodles (not a problem, but be prepared). All told, this was a nice takeout destination. The food was nicely packaged and fresh, and it made for a nice Vietnamese dining experience.

It was ready pretty quickly, easy parking lot in the immediate lot and seemed to be a pleasant atmosphere if i was dining in. The portion was enough for two meals, different take on curry than I am used to but was a good take on it - very flavorful, satisfying and look forward to keeping them in business in my neighborhood!

The restaurant is located right on Mt Washington, giving a good view of the city. The interior looks appropriate for a sushi restaurant, but due to the massive windows lacked the darker vibe of other upscale restaurants. I've been to hundreds of sushi spots and the interior was merely average. Otaru seems to struggle with its identity. It needs to either commit to being an upscale restaurant or relax and simply be a quality one. The wait staff were kind and prompt, but at times appeared they may be less experienced. We were brought hot (paper) towels and edamame. We ordered the fried tako balls as an app. I personally don't prefer tako and found it very dense and chewy and the overall flavors were too undeveloped. The hand rolls were well filled and were easy to eat due to being more of a taco configuration than a true hand roll. The nori was not too tough, lending to a pleasant experience. The nigiri and sashimi were also good. The nigiri were good, but not as elevated as another upscale sushi spot in the city. They were still very good, but not quite excellent. They either need a bit more development or to be relaxed and served as two per order and the price adjusted slightly upward. If you take one thing from this review, let it be this. The yellowtail jalepeno cups were astonishing. By far this was the most well executed dish I have ever eaten and the best sushi dish I've had. They appear to be wrapped in toasted sesame seed wrappers. If you've had Hapi mixed crackers they give the same great flavor of the "fried chicken" pieces but with yuzu vinaigrette and the umami of the fish. I will certainly be back solely because of how good they were.
