Most of the seating is outside. It was a really nice day and we were able to find a table in the shade. Not sure what it will be like in the midst of summer when it's so hot. Service was very friendly but it really seemed like they needed more help at the bar and where they take your order. We ordered Tapas and Churros. When the order finally came it was mixed up on what each of got. We asked the friendly young man who brought the food but he couldn't really identify each of the Tapas so we figured it out. Tapas were okay to me. The steak Tapas was cold also. Churros were very good especially dipped in the house made chocolate. We then ordered cappuccinos and they were the best cappuccinos we've had! I went at around 11 am on a Wednesday,there was very few people. The service was amazing, the staff were soooo friendly and engaged with us multiple times to make sure we were taken care of. We got the sugar cinnamon churros and they were soo good with the chocolate. We also got the Chocolate-Latte hot and it was good and filling according to my mom. Total we spent was $17 with tip for 4pc churros and a chocolate-Latte. Francisco was a very friendly and attentive employee. I would come again but during this time. Stale cold churros. Came at off peak hour. Ordered in person, upon arrival. In both Spain & Mexico bad churros from a churraria would be a crime with stiff penalties. The dipping chocolate resembled sad Hersheys syrup. Good churros are like the best donut simplified, warm and crisp with a generous portion of creamy warm or hot dipping chocolate. This is a ghastly zombified version of something that is celebrated in cultures abroad. I mean even the Costco version was far superior until they quit serving them. The coffee is serviceable and the patio has comfortable space to enjoy alone or with a group. HOWEVER, this is not GROWING PAINS, or an ERROR, or a MISTAKE, or some other nonsense that deserves ANOTHER TRY. When you are known for the best churros in Spain, and you leverage that to attract sales in the US and choose to allow staff to serve cold stale churros YOU HAVE DECIDED THAT'S HOW YOU WANT THEM SERVED- INTENTIONALLY! Such a small expectation but likely some idiots with a spreadsheet is trying to justify how NOT to have to make and serve them to order or IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN. So if a manager wants to respond to this, simply acknowledge that you don't really care and don't recommend I return for a second round of disappointment. Should be negative stars!! First and last time visiting this restaurant. We ordered an iced coffee drink. After waiting more than 20 minutes decided to check on the order. Watched the gentleman make the drink with regular milk even though it was ordered with almond milk (with an extra charge) due to an allergy. Let me start by saying that I have been to the San Gines in Madrid and I was happy to find out that it opened in Austin. Unfortunately my whole family came very dissappointed and will not give it a second chance. Here is why: First- the hot chocolate quality was good BUT it was cold when we picked up our order. You get a very small cup size for what you pay for. Second - the churros had no taste and were not fluffy like the ones in Madrid. Again, they were served cold. It was such a small portion for what you pay for. Third - the place had a bunch of mismatched chairs and tables, very hard to sit a family of 4 together. Four- you have to do one transaction inside for drinks and a second transaction for churros outside at the food truck. I could not understand why you have to stand in line twice to place an order for just hot chocolate and churros. Five - service is minimal...you get the churros delivered to the table but you have to pick up the drinks when your number is called. We paid almost $45 for churros and hot chocolate and the portions were so small and delivered cold! We don't mind paying for good food quality and a decent portion but to be honest, this whole experience felt like a rip-off and a tourist trap. read more

NOT LIKE THE ONE IN MADRID. A very disappointing experience. My husband and I went this weekend. I lived in Spain and my husband is from Spain. We were really looking forward to going. We thought the food quality was going to be like the one in Madrid but we were wrong. The only thing I can say, from everything we ordered, was that the churros were ok. We also ordered patatas bravas and croquetas. Those items were not tasty. The food and the chocolate were cold, not hot. We waited a long time for our food and drinks to come out. It was also very disorganized. They really need to have signs or staff telling customers where to go to order and what items can be ordered in those lines. I was really looking forward to this new spot in Austin but my first experience was disappointing. It's beautiful but it's sort of a mess. The bar/cafe area is full of drink orders and the system they have with the numbers doesn't look like it's working. I placed an order for an ice latte and they forgot it, I reminded them but it still took a while. In total, I waited almost 25 minutes and left the restaurant to find out it wasn't what I asked for. The food is ordered at the trucks, not at the bar area except for some pasteries. Okay, it's fine but they have a much smaller menu than I expected. It wasn't bad but it's not the same as there other locations. First of all, no churros available at a place that's world famous for...churros. The hot chocolate was so watered down I refuse to believe it's the same as what is served in Madrid.
