San Jose Mac & Cheese Kitchen at SJC was a pleasant surprise. They had items ready to go, which is a nice touch when you're short on time, and the menu has good options beyond the basics. Easy, comforting airport food done right.

Even with my lowered expectations, this was still pretty mediocre mac and cheese. I tried the Bacon Mac and could not taste the crispy breadcrumbs at all. Just felt like there was something missing overall. Would be decent at like half the price, but that's what you get sometimes with airport food.

Had to try one of their breakfast mac n cheese dishes. The Mission (scrambled eggs, mac n cheese, sausage, bacon, ham) was a little overkill with the meats, and the cheese had a tinge of artificial flavor, but there was a generous amount of ingredients in there, and definitely no shortage of cheese. It was very filling, the size of the bowl could easily feed two people, I can't imagine that they could fit this into a burrito (which is offered on the menu as well). Service was instant and super friendly, and there were a couple different options for seating, including a bar offering a wide selection of alcoholic beverages.

The place was empty. Menu was decent but slightly pricey. The man at the counter stood around for a bit, then greeted me with an "hola". He looked like a deer in headlights when I tried to respond equally because my Spanish is bad. Like really bad. Which is why I can understand some mainstream dialects pretty well but I won't respond. He seemed annoyed with me once I ordered. I'd say he needs a little more customer service skills. The meals were enough for 2-3 people, which makes the price worth it. The cheese was your usual bland cheese sauce. Normally I would do something very artery clogging on my own Mac n cheese, with real cheese. I can't fault them for adding in a packet of fresh cholula. There was a good amount of meat, buried in the center of the dish. I would say this is a-ok but not the most exciting thing in the world.

When I called to ask if there were any reservations available for tonight, her immediate response was, "Absolutely not." Before I had the opportunity to ask any follow-up questions or explain my situation, the conversation felt abruptly shut down. Moments later, she added that she could possibly fit us in at 8:00 p.m., depending on the size of our party. I told her that I found her initial response unprofessional because she didn't take the time to explain the situation from the start. A more courteous response would have been to let me know that reservations were full but that there might be a possibility of accommodating us later in the evening. She apologized and said she would respond differently next time, which I appreciated. However, as a manager, first impressions and customer service matter. The way customers are spoken to--especially over the phone when they're simply trying to make a reservation--sets the tone for the entire dining experience. I hope this feedback helps improve how future guests are greeted and assisted.

I even had my wedding reception here, along with many family gatherings and birthday celebrations over the years, so this restaurant definitely holds a special place in my heart. They have, hands down, the best chicken piccata on earth. And that's coming from a full-blooded Sicilian who knows good Italian and Sicilian food! Their pizza is also excellent--great undercarriage, full of flavor, and always cooked right. My personal favorite is the mushroom and olive pizza, and the Margherita is another one of my favorites. I usually order the linguine with clams or the chicken piccata, but honestly, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Every dish seems better than the last. The location is also very convenient, right down the street from San Jose International Airport, with plenty of parking. The restaurant is always clean, welcoming, and family-owned. George, the owner, and his son Anthony are doing a great job running this business. I'm a big supporter of family-owned businesses, especially when they consistently provide great food and great service. I'm honestly shocked when I see a one- or two-star review for this place. After coming here for so many years, my experiences have always been great. Just look at the pictures--the food speaks for itself. If you haven't tried Vito's Trattoria, give this place a shot. I highly recommend it. Five stars all the way!

We ordered two Pollo Saltimbocca dishes (one with a cream pasta substitution for an additional $8), the Pollo al Limone, and a half bottle of Chardonnay. The restaurant offers one indoor dining area and two outdoor seating areas--one in the front and one in the back--which gives guests plenty of seating options. The food was a bit saltier than our personal preference. The cream pasta substitution, despite the extra charge, wasn't anything particularly memorable compared to similar dishes we've had at other restaurants. However, the highlight of our visit was definitely the warm and welcoming customer service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel appreciated. We also appreciate that the restaurant closes for a few hours in the afternoon before reopening for dinner service. It's nice to see a business that gives its staff a break during the day. Parking can be a bit challenging due to the busy neighborhood. Be aware that street parking is paid, and most spots have a two-hour limit, so you'll need to keep an eye on the time. Overall, we'd come back to try more of the pasta dishes on the menu and hope to discover a new favorite.

The food looked good, but my date and I didn't get a chance to try it. I live in the area and have always seen this place when going past. It looked cool and since it had such great yelp review, I thought tonight would be a good time to try it out. Just got out from a comedy show and we arrived at 9:10pm - it says they close at 10pm so we should be ok right? We only wanted to stop in, get a drink or two, and maybe 1-2 apps. After being greeted by the host, who was very nice, we told her that we just wanted to sit at the bar and get a drink and maybe a couple apps. She said "great!" with a big smile and led us there. While being led there I noted that the place had really cool decor and lighting, felt very cozy and italian. This is where it switched from a nice experience into a really quite bad one. As soon as we sat at the bar we felt unwelcome. There was a bartender there, middle-aged man with glasses and longish shaggy black hair that immediately gave us a "mean mug" type look. "That's strange..." I thought to myself. He did not greet us and seemed pre-occupied with closing the bar, wrapping up the beer spigots etc. The vibe was totally off, we are unwanted it seems. We sat there for maybe 1-2 minutes until he finally turned to us and said "Are you guys waiting for someone?" "We just want a menu" my date replied. "The restaurant is closed" he said, in quite a brusk and rude tone. I looked at my watch. It was 9:15pm. "But it says you guys close at 10pm, is that not the case?" I piped up. "No." he said, shaking his head. He turned his back to us. At this point I thought, lets go to a place that wants our money. I work with customers in my day job and would never be able to interact with a customer in the way he did. Honestly, if you're that way with customers I feel you're more suited to a warehouse job than you are working a bar. "We're not wanted here, lets leave" I said to my date. We got up and left. With people working like that working at their restaurant - save your money and go to some place else with good service. If the bar itself was closed, fine, offer us a table or something. Be nice about it. Instead we got quite rude (non)service. Again, the host was nice, keep her. But buyer beware - if you come during the last hour expect to be treated like you're unwanted garbage from unfriendly bartenders. Maybe update your hours if you "actually" close 50 minutes before it says you do?
