    I LOVE pickled onions
    Candy Z.

I was staying at a hotel in San Jose for a business trip and jumped on Yelp to search for healthy dining options in my immediate area. The food looked really good for Ben's reviews but I was a bit concerned about it being a "cloud kitchen" and having to pick-up my food through a locker (I definitely do not like the lack of human interaction with this process.) But again, the food looked really good and healthy, they were open late, had great pricing and had great reviews. I decided to give them a try, and I'm so happy that I did. The food is really REALLY good, and you don't feel terrible and bloated afterward! I liked it so much that I ordered a second time, with multiple items to sustain me on my drive back to SoCal. The green smoothie was tasty, so were the potatoes and garbanzos, as well as the chocolate pudding. At first I thought the pudding was kind of small, but it is very decadent (and healthy) that it was actually very filling and satisfied my craving for something sweet. I also LOVE that it is sweetened with dates! Both times I ordered chicken meals - and both times they were delicious. The thyme dressing is sooo good, you have to try it. Also the food was ready INCREDIBLY fast! One thing to note, if you are picking-up in person, is that the area it is in, is literally "rough." There are a plethora of campers, trailers, and homeless folks on Ruff street. It looks and feels sketchy, but the food and prices are so good, that I was willing to come back a second time and I plan to order again whenever I'm in the area. May God bless you Ben's Fast Food, I pray you continue to be guided on your quest to deliver fresh and healthy food to the masses!

    Pork Shoulder Hearty Bowl

$10 for a fast and healthy meal - my partner and I have both ordered from this place many times and always enjoy our bowls. Tonight he got the Pork shoulder hearty bowl (more grains/carbs) while I got the Chicken Mixed bowl (half grains & half greens for the base). You can also select what kind of sauce you want with your bowl, like Lemon Thyme or Rosemary Balsamic. Seems like this place is a cloud kitchen that usually preps meals to go, since when we picked up the order there were a ton of other food delivery drivers also waiting at these lockers that have different orders assigned to them. So far no complaints though, since we've always gotten correct orders and within a reasonable amount of time.

I think this place is designed to be just a DoorDash/food delivery service type of spot. There is no dining in. The building is shared with multiple restaurants and you order at a kiosk, and grab your food to go. The area feels a little sketchy. That said, the food itself was pretty good. Definitely fit for all the health nuts! I got the veggie mix bowl. The portion is pretty big, and can be shared. Can definitely also be split (since ya know, healthy portions matter). Food itself was light and tasty I got the chipotle sauce and it wasn't too bad. I added extra pickled onions which added good flavor and more texture. Good mix of greens, grains, and veggies! Definitely did not feel guilty after eating this meal; and yes I ate the whole portion.

Great healthy option, great late night option, great late night SUNDAY option, great affordable option! Healthy, fresh, hot, cooked perfectly, nothing soggy, veggies just slightly al dente (great sign that they are not just sitting there warming) nice flavors, nothing over powering, no sugar added. Choice of sauce. I was extremely impressed. It is usually expensive to eat healthy. Ben's fast food nailed it with everything. Affordable and healthy and filling. If I had one of these nearby it would probably be my go to option, especially on the late night. The food was prepared fast, less than 10 minutes. It probably had at least 10 different ingredients.

Chickpea and Yukon (V) Chickpea & Potato Garden Bowl

When I opened the box, my first thought was "aw man, I got scammed". It looks nothing like the photo. I got the chickpea and roasted Yukon potato grain bowl and both were a dark brown color -- but not in an appetizing way, they look shrunken, old, and decrepit. Chickpeas and Yukon potatoes are supposed to be yellow. Tastes really gross and sour. Looks like compost! I will be feeding this to my worms, who knows if they'll even like it.

Ben's has fast food in the name but don't let that fool you. I would not put it in the same category as what you envision when you think of fast food. The food is healthy, yummy, and high quality. Both my taste buds and waist line were happy after the meal which does not happen too often. Note that this is a pickup spot at a Cloud Kitchen-type place and not a restaurant. I was thrown off when I drove there and it brought me to a warehouse-type building. The ordering system was very convenient and high-tech. I placed the order online and then you get texted the locker that you pick up the food from and you can open it using your phone.

Ordered via DoorDash and they got my order perfectly right! It was packaged well for travel too. I ordered the hearty chicken bowl which was extremely filling. The chicken was fresh and well-made and went well with the other ingredients in the bowl. I wish I had gotten the chicken bowl with more greens because it was a bit too much of the same consistency, but that's my own fault. I'll be ordering from here again! FYI it is a cloud kitchen.

An unfortunately disappointing experience that did not live up to the fast food name. Was super excited to try healthy fast food, especially at those prices....under $10 for their pork or chicken bowls?! Hell yeah! Food was more of a meh okay, than a hell yeah. Overall the bowl seemed like it was a good size, but upon further look, there was very little meat. There was plenty of grains and veggies, but hardly any protein (I guess this makes sense with the pricing). Would definitely recommend ordering double meat if you want to end the meal closer to full. I know the intention is eating healthy, but protein is healthy and there wasn't much there. The chicken and pork were both super tender and the sauces were pretty flavorful, so I will give them that, but still nothing to write home about. I ordered for delivery, it said the food would be ready and delivered within 39-53 minutes, flash forward 1 hour and 40 minutes later and the food finally arrived. This wasn't a driver issue either, the order was accepted immediately, but it wasn't until over an hour later that it said it was being worked on. Definitely not what I was expecting for fast food.

Mixed chicken salad with extra Avocado

This was nice! We got the mixed chicken salad and it very yummy and healthy! Thoughtfully packaged with the warm salad on the left and the cold salad on the right. No waste with the plastic cutleries. We paid for extra avocados. I do think the chicken and Avocado portions could be a bit more as we only got one bite each (hubby and I). We will be back though as it left a great impression on us. Also, just walk on, place your order on the screen, pick up in less than 10mins!

I ordered a pork shoulder mixed bowl with chipotle sauce after work last week. It had been a long week and I was too tired to cook. I ordered online and was given a quick estimate of when the food would be ready for pick up. The food is at a place that has take out for a lot of different food spots, but has no seating. So definitely more of a pick up and go type situation. The bowl was inexpensive, fast and fairly healthy. I was still a bit hungry after eating the bowl. Maybe if I had ordered an extra portion of meat, it would have been more filling. The food fit the bill- I wanted something fast, relatively inexpensive, and easy. I don't think I will find myself craving this again- but might pick it up if I am in the area.

Ben Commandments Hi Ben, I know you read these reviews, and I love that in a business owner, especially since this is presumably a business you'd like to grow and maybe turn into a full-fledged brick-and-mortar. So, in order for one to grow in both life and business, one needs constructive criticism and feedback from consumers. So, even though I'm just some jerkoff from Yelp, I really hope you know that from the bottom of my heart, I'm really trying to help. I have quite a few friends who are restaurant owners and relatives who've owned restaurants in the past, and I know how hard they work, so I have much love and respect. The Good: *I love the ethos of this place: clean, plant-based food (sans the meat ofc) at a very reasonable price point. *Beef was a winner. It reminded me of my homemade corned beef. *Vegan Chocolate Pudding was superb. Very clean, great flavor, and, unlike my gf's (Carissa K) experience earlier this year, it had a thick and pudding-like texture. *Chicken had good flavor, but some of my pieces were a bit dry. I would rec changing to dark meat to maintain moisture--and boost the flavor--but I understand why you'd keep with the breast meat in order to satisfy the "healthy" angle. *Overall, my "mixed bowl" was really satisfying. I liked the mix of veggies, grains, and seeds, which made for a satisfying dish where every bite was a different combination of flavors. The Meh: *Smoky chipotle sauce really fits the bill with a fantastic smoky flavor and creaminess--but there's zero heat. If someone orders an item with "Chipotle," they should expect just a modicum of heat, but, alas and alack, none was to be found. Ben, we're in San José. Bring the heat. We can take it. I promise. :) *My bowl ate a little dry; the sauce wasn't quite enough to cover the whole thing, and I didn't order the "extra" sauce combo (for a nominal fee, ofc). I actually added a little soy/ponzu sauce and some Tabasco® Chipotle sauce to the bowl, and it worked wonders. The Ugly: *Potato/Chickpea side was not good. The only positive thing I can say is that the chickpeas were cooked well, but the taters were almost all undercooked, and there was no discernable spice flavoring. It literally just tasted like taters and chickpeas. Now, if this was your goal, then mission accomplished. But, personally, I'd love some curry powder on those bad boys. And again, we're in SJ, so don't be afraid to bring it. I hope I wasn't too rough. I think overall, this is a 3.5* experience, but I'm going to round down to give you an opportunity to grow, as we'll probably be back because we're always looking for healthy, tasty and economical options for delivery and you def fit that bill. So keep up the good work, clean up a few things, and you'll def be in 4-5* territory. Until next time. Love, Peace and Chicken Grease, JD ^__^ (Ov0) {| |} ---"--"---

I'm not quite sure how to rate this place. This was my first time trying this odd set up. It's a big food kitchen for many different restaurants but they only do delivery and pick up. I ordered online for Ben's, received a text that it was ready and I was finally able to find a place to park (a shit show around here). Using a tablet, you put in your name, and it tells you which locker is yours to find your order. If there's a next time, I will do this with John so he can drive around while I run inside, and now since I know how things go, it should go more smoothly. I ordered Pork Shoulder Garden Bowl which was spring mix as the base, cauliflower/broccoli/carrot, pork, pickled onions, Cukes, dressing, avocado (Extra) and I omitted the sunflower seeds. Overall, it was pretty tasty. 1) They're pretty skimpy on the meat. I would definitely add extra meat if you're doing low-carb. 2) The cauliflower, broccoli and carrot mix seemed like frozen veg. Kinda disappointed with that. (**The owner responded to my review and reassured me that their veggies are always fresh--not frozen. I'm glad to hear that.) I also tried the Dark Chocolate Cashew Pudding. It's made with cashew milk and dates and dark chocolate. I haven't had anything sweet in several weeks so this was a treat for me. I thought it was good and the portion size was perfect when you're trying to keep calories low. I would try them again and probably do delivery next time. I think their prices are fairly reasonable. If we try them again and anything changes, I'll update my review.

The mussels were definitely the standout - the sauce was so flavorful and unforgettable that we were tempted to ask for extra bread just to soak it all up. We also really enjoyed the cocktails. To top it all off, we were surprised with complimentary caviar cones from the restaurant, which was such a nice touch. Hey there party People…read more Decided to venture into Willow Glen today on the hunt for something new to try. Boy howdy did we hit the Mother Load with "The Table". We hit the Brunch hour and the place was rocking. We were able to sit right down amazingly. There is a fabulous patio to people watch and enjoy the California weather. Our server Charles was really great. He walked us through the menu giving us the 911 on watch to order. Most of the plates were perfect shareable bites. Making it easy to try multiple plates and really get your inner Foodie on. We started with the Seasonal Banana Pancakes with crushed walnuts and cinnamon maple syrup. Inside the pancakes were fresh bananas and the walnuts were crushed very small but added a great texture. Moving on to the Chicago Steak sandwich don't get confused but in Chicago they refer to Roast Beef as steak. The Au Jus dip was very flavorful without being a salt bomb. Loved the potato roll they used all round a killer sandwich. Going a little outside the box we tried the Jerk Chicken Sandwich. The pineapple slaw with this amazing peppery chutney type sauce played so well with the acid of the pineapple. Another must have sandwich. I ask you how can you go to a new restaurant and not have some dessert. With everything else being so good our expectations were pretty high and we were not disappointed. The Giant Profiterole is exactly that GIANT and stuffed with White Chocolate Gelato and Hot Chocolate Sauce that you can drizzle over the top. To fricken die for good. This was genuinely one of the worst chicken sandwiches I have ever had. It was extremely gristly, fatty, and made with dark meat, which felt like an odd choice for a chicken sandwich. I'm not sure why this cut of chicken was used. The fries were alright, but they did not come with the sandwich and cost an additional $5. Our total came to almost $90 for three entrees with no beverages. I was especially frustrated because my sandwich was inedible. For the price and quality, I will not be returning and would not recommend this place.

This was supposed to be a special birthday dinner date that my husband meticulously planned for me,…read morebut it turned into the most horrendous dining experience I've ever had. We dined at Lira on November 14th. The Service (or Lack Thereof): The Menu Shortage: We arrived for our 6:45 PM reservation only to be told by the manager that they didn't have enough menus. We were told they'd bring them "later." Ignored for 35+ Minutes: We sat with nothing but water for over half an hour. To make matters worse, a table of six was seated after us and received their full entrees while we were completely ignored. The Drink Mess: After 40 minutes, the server told me they were out of ingredients for my drink. When I picked a second option, she tried to insist I wanted a drink with celery (my most despised vegetable). We thankfully stopped her before it was made, but the incompetence was staggering. The Food Fiasco: An hour into our reservation, someone dropped off a scallop dish. A while later, a server asked if I'd "received the scallops yet," and I realized the plate I was eating wasn't even intended for our table. We were so starving that my husband and I just shared them. Once we finished, the server finally asked my husband if he "still wanted his meal or if he wanted to cancel it." I finally lost my cool - of course he still wanted his dinner! The Aftermath: My husband didn't realize that my friends had actually made a separate reservation to take me back to this same spot the following night for a second birthday celebration. After this performance, there was no way I was going to step foot in this building again or give them another cent of our money. I texted my friends from the table to cancel those reservations and book elsewhere. With service this disorganized and insulting, this restaurant won't be in business long. Super disappointing. Don't waste your special occasions here. *Edit - it looks like Lira has closed. With the service we experienced, I am not surprised in the slightest. I am hopeful that whichever future business occupies this space is more successful.

I had high hopes for this upscale Mediterranean spot in downtown Campbell. Lots of hype, but the…read morefood was average and service was all over the place. I thought some dishes were great; the wagyu burger was decadent. Other dishes were not that special. The scallops didn't taste too fresh (likely frozen) and combining them with hummus didn't quite work. The side of bread was practically insulting. $5 for stale table bread was a surprise. Dishes arrived very late; we were nearly forgotten when we tried to order, and then after ordering, we waited 40 minutes between appetizers and the main course. Not because they were cooking it; they just forgot we were there and when they brought out the dishes, the scallops were no longer just-cooked, and the burger had been sitting for a bit. No apology, just an acknowledgment it was late, and no discount (not even on the stale bread). They offered us wine, we said we didn't drink, and they just moved on. I debated a lot about how to review this. It's my personal experience that was disappointing, and I'm glad some reviews are very upbeat. But there's a handful of reviews noting frustrating delays... and that needs to be worked on.

Not my personal cup of tea, but they do also offer sake and a few beers also. The first time we went, we ordered the arancini, bucatini, and the heritage pork katsu. I am a big advocate for trying new things every time I go to a restaurant, but it was so good I ordered the same thing the second time I went. Arancini is flavored with Japanese curry with creamy fontina in the center topped off with kimchi mayo. Holy f. These quite literally put the traditional Italian ones to shame (sorry not sorry). Next was the bucatini. It had tom yum butter, lime, basil- all the fix ins of what you want from tom yum flavors with the luxuriousness added from the butter. It was sinful. Last and certainly not least, is the pork katsu. I cannot even remember the last time I ordered a pork katsu, but something told me to order it. Thank God I did, as it quite literally changed my life. If they ever take it off the menu I am not sure I would be OK. It is crispy and is swimming in this koji butter, but the key is that it is NOT greasy. I quite literally think about it all the time. To the point where I had it twice in a week. Service was great, bartenders are so friendly. The place is cute and vibrant. Keep in mind it is small- limited seating inside and a small patio outside. But so worth the wait. It aint called Goodtime for no reason!

Ambiance 5 Wine 5…read more Service 5 Food 5 So why the 4 rating... TBH there's a good chance that I'll adjust it soon, but if I could give a 4.5 I would. First the knock, and to be fair, it's probably just an opinion / idea. Given the birth of natural wine and the South Bay, it would be wonderful to see a curated selection of tasting flights, no more than two or three options with anywhere from 3 to 6 wine wines each, priced accordingly. Maintaining a proper wine menu when all you do is natural wine can certainly be a challenge. If you wine flights depending on what you have would certainly elevate the customer experience by educating more people natural wine and helping them make better choices when it comes to a bottle purchase. I paid $61 for a bottle that was recommended, and at that price point I wonder how many people who are new to natural wine might be turned off. Chris was a wonderful host and certainly the right person to engage with customers around their various wines. Given how small the space is and how busy it can get, a weekly tasting flight menu might be a good way to engage those customers who are waiting to order at the bar and perhaps even spark a more productive conversation with Chris. We ordered the peach and ricotta dish with Thai basil... wow, a wonderful surprise. Peaches are always battling in and out of the top spot on my summer fruit list and this combination was downright dirty and delicious! We also ordered the raw oysters with watermelon mignonette. Another wow! I didn't expect the little spice kick and it was a perfect pairing to the sweetness of the watermelon. If anyone knows the recipe let me know, I'd bottle that mignonette and take it with me wherever I have oysters!! Overall, a great experience and I most definitely look forward to going back!

When walking, we missed the restaurant initially because this place is clearly, a hidden gem, especially being hidden along the nightclub strip. We were blown away by the curated vibes. From the thoughtful decor to The Office being projected on the wall. It felt hip, fresh and refined. We decided to craft our own drinks - Arnold Palmers, his favorite. But they only had sparkling lemonade, which actually made it even better. We shared a salad that had some cooked pears and squash alongside the greens, walnuts, cranberries and blue cheese. I do feel like the cooked sweet elements overpowered the salad with their sweetness and textures a bit. Wondering if a refreshing pear for crunch or more dressing could have brightened it up and provided a salty, sweet balance. I ordered the Short Ribs with a parsnip purée and roasted carrots and it did not disappoint. Everything paired beautifully together, perfectly salted and cooked. I finished the entire plate. Dad got the Pork Chop and while it was overcooked, he loved the flavors happening in the dish and was pleasantly surprised by the refreshing treatment of the kale. The staff was attentive and very friendly. Overall a great experience. We would definitely come back!

Just never got around to working a review before. Went early on a Saturday evening recently and was surprised to not have to wait. We split a Bibb lettuce salad that was simple, refreshing and perfect. A tiny pea fritter was the very definition of a small bite, and while it wasn't what I expected, it was crisp and tender. Grilled artichoke was one of the best I have ever had. (Just wish they had been explicit on the menu that it was a half a grilled artichoke). Cocktails were up to their usual high standard -- rye Manhattan for the BF and clarified milk punch for me. I don't get out much these days and I rarely drink alcohol, but is $20 a lot for a cocktail? Or is that normal now? They were great though. BF got the ribeye with morels, which was perfectly cooked and unbelievably tender. I had the burger, which was more exciting than it sounds, dressed with a wild combo of veggies, cheese and bacon while still managing to be harmonious and fresh tasting. Side of fries were crisp and tasty, though not as perfectly hot as I would ideally wish. Because the burger was late coming out, or server (Bernardo I think?) comped us an amazing little dish of vanilla soft serve ice cream with olive oil and sea salt, along with the butterscotch pudding that we ordered. The pudding didn't have the strong butterscotch flavor that I hoped for, but the vanilla ice cream stole the dessert show. OCK isn't a place I can afford often, but I still really like it. I appreciate the creativity of the dishes, the quality ingredients, and the bar. And the old-school shopping center vibe of the Pruneyard is low key festive and garden-like. The interior of the restaurant is kind of standard-industrial modern, but nicely so. Oh, and their glassware is super nice.

All dishes were sub standard save for the squash flower fritters. Milk punch and other cocktails are still worth the visit. Additionally the patio space at night is unmatched in terms of a cozy and perfectly intimate dinner experience. Our server Katherine N was outright hostile and messed up our order on top of having a really rude and unprofessional attitude. Bummer. This used to be the best dining in Pruneyard but its sister restaurant Be.steak.a, as well as Luna and Marafuku Ramen make OCK's bib gourmand look more than undeserved. The rest of the wait staff is lovely, and we look forward to some improvements in the menu intentionality and execution as well as said outlier staff member, as this restaurant has been a favorite in our family for over five years.
