I needed a song test. Got the Groupon deal at $35. Saw the Yelp price as of 6.24.2022 was $29.99. Was able to get the difference back. Note, there's still the STAR fee at $10 and the State and ETF they charge for $10. Just see what the ongoing rate is and make sure Groupon is still the best price. The manager was willing to help and asked what would make sure I was satisfied and was going to cover the STAR fee. I just wanted to pay what was due based on the current price and now hopefully I know what to pay for for SMOG. Will go back again. read more

My wife's car needed a smog check, so I brought it over. I called ahead (Thursday before noon), and the tech said there was no wait. When I arrived, he had just finished one car, so I was the next one. I mentioned the $30.00 off web coupon, which he honored. I sat in the waiting area, and 20 minutes later, the car passed smog. As another reviewer said, what they charge is all over the place. I was first quoted $98, which I found high, and was about to leave. I was then offered $60, which I accepted, only to find on their own description on this very site that they charge $39.99 plus certificate, so essentially less than $50, for my type of car and test needed. The test took less than 5 minutes including the paperwork--just a wire hookup to their computer. I went back and asked for a $10 refund and was told I should have mentioned the "coupon" rate before, that I was given a good price. Well, it wasn't a coupon, it's what the business has posted as their price on this site, so why do they try to rip off the unsuspecting customer? If you ask them for the low price, you'll be ok, otherwise you'll be gouged. read more

My experience today at the San Leandro Test Only proved this point. My car was up for a smog check, so when I saw a 40% Groupon deal for this place, I couldn't pass it up. It was a $35 smog check deal which I was able to snatch up for only $21 after discounts. Before I came, I called their number to mention the Groupon deal (required) and to book an appointment. The person that I spoke with told me to just bring my car in. When I brought my car in, I was next. I spoke with the only technician and asked him if he was the person who I spoke with. When he said no, I asked him who did I speak to. Since this was my first time doing business with this establishment, I wanted to make sure that I came to the right place with my Groupon deal. There are about 12 smog check places in San Leandro! For some reason, he got all defensive and asked me to call the number again. Why didn't he just tell me that the person I spoke with was the manager? Then he purposely served the car that came AFTER me. There was zero need for him to be so rude and unprofessional! The tech proceeded to give me a hard time about not trusting him. Why? Because I asked a question? When he served the car that came after me go first, I should have left then and there and taken my business elsewhere. If it wasn't for the fact that I had already purchased and redeemed the Groupon, I would have. I realize that we're all human, and the technician was probably having a bad day. However, for a business that is based on customer service, this technician, E.B., failed today to provide a satisfactory experience, in my opinion. read more

I received my DMV renewal for my 2005 Mercedes and quickly realized I needed a smog test prior to my registration renewal. I did a quick Google search and found this place. I called in advance and was able to get an appointment the same day. The staff was very helpful, patient, and kind. Richard greeted me with a warm welcome and was very nice during my visit. He let me know that his staff can also assist with processing my registration renewal which I thought was exceptional service. Gio performed my smog test and he was very nice providing a brief overview of how the smog test would be performed. They have a small waiting area to sit while the test is performed. Overall I was very pleased with their service. The staff is knowledgeable and efficient. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends! read more

I mean, it was fine. I went here last minute on a weekday to get my Subaru Forester smogged. It was done really quickly and it was easy to get done, but it did cost quite a bit. I think I'll probably try to go elsewhere next time for a more affordable smog check. read more

One of the most shitty business I have ever been through. If there is negative stars I can give, I will definitely give negative stars. They just want to rip you off. I went there twice. First time for the smog test, messaged the owner and he messaged me back with their website link which shows 30 dollars for smog test. When I went in, it turned out the price is 98 dollars. I called the owner, he said you can only get this price with a special coupon. Since I also want to do the title transfer he agreed to give me 10 dollars for the title transfer to cover up the over 60 dollars I paid for the smog test. The second there, they finished their service, he tried to negotiated up the service fee again and did not really show the payment details but asked you to pay. I calculated the fee I need to pay before, the final price is not that much difference to me, so I paid it and did not want to bother with them. When i got home and looked at the statement and saw they added 12 dollars fee somewhere. Very shitty business. Never go there again! read more

This is a ripped off business! AVOID! I will report this business to California Department of Consumer Affairs The person quoted me a substantially higher price ($90), which is way higher than the price states on their website of $35ish. I haggled a bit and ended up paying $40 cash for a Toyota Yaris, and $50 cash for a Nissan Sentra. Could have costed me about $70 for 2 cars, so I overpaid $20. Lesson Learnt. I've had decent results with this business. The technician is efficient and pleasant. This time I called ahead to see about a Groupon coupon and and told the owner that I wasn't able to purchase it online, the owner who is not regularly on site told me it wouldn't be a problem. When I got there the tech showed me a printed coupon that had a $10 up-charge for trucks. Despite what was printed in the Groupon promo, he wouldn't honor it. I'm used to seeing that charge so didn't argue it. I also wanted to pay my registration there, and get a new Tag. Despite 3 calls to the owner about the reg, he never mentioned a charge for the service. The owner wasn't there when I had the smog done and so I had to make a special trip back later. When he was taking my DMV money, he asked for his $50 fee. I said "what fee", you didn't mention this earlier. He also tacked on a few other DMV fees for the remote location, which I don't agree with. I got upset and left. I told him that his fees should be advertised. He wan't me to look at a "board" somewhere in the back of the shop where they were advertised. He also wanted me to pay in cash for the transaction. It was just a bad experience. And with Costco right there it takes an extra 10 minutes to get out of the parking lot. 10:30 am on a Tuesday and the roads are jammed. read more
