Last weekend myself and a friend tried out their Early Bird which is just €19.50 for 2 courses. We shared out our starters and mains to get a taste of everything - it was faultless. We had the Bresaola and the sardine bruchetta for starters then the meatballs and sausage pasta for mains with a side of pesto garlic bread. not a crumb of food was left on the plates! So I left San Lorenzos feeling disappointed...but only with myself for not eating here sooner! There isn't much to say that hasn't already been said so I'll be brief. We had brunch here a few Sundays ago and the whole experience was wonderful. We had good service and the place has a great lively atmosphere. I enjoyed the brunch tacos immensely. They consisted of jerk chicken, avocado salsa, fried chorizo, lettuce and a yummy red pepper mayo. The portion was big but I found myself not wanting to share. Really nice. J got the crab cakes and they were delicious and well presented. They were served with grilled asparagus, potatoes, tomatoes and poached eggs. The flavours were wonderful and the asparagus allows you to pretend that you are being healthy. San Lorenzos prepares an amazing brunch for reasonable prices. I finally made it to the seemingly most popular brunch spot in town: San Lorenzo' s. We had a reservation and got there on time only to join a queue that had us waiting on the outside. We were cold, we were hungry. We got seated 15mins after our reserved time. This brunch better be good. We were lucky to get seated in the back where it is a bit quieter and less crazy. First we ordered drinks which took longer to arrive than our food. I highly recommend the Stephen's Green cocktail with kiwi and vanilla vodka, absolutely lovely. There were a couple of mojitos ordered, all of them decent. We brunched on salmon bagels with poached eggs, pulled pork belly hash and avocado on toast with poached eggs. I asked to have the tomato swapped for a sausage instead; not a bother to them. The poached eggs were sadly overcooked and the toast could have been better if they'd used sourdough instead of a white bloomer-type of bread. Unfortunately it didn't say on the menu what kind of bread it is and I didn't think anyone still serves white bread these days? All the portions were huge and we all struggled to finish. So sadly we had no room to try the famous Nutella cheese cake, it just wasn't on the cards for us. The quality of all our dishes was very good and I cannot wait to go back and order something teeny tiny just so I'm able to have a Nutella cheesecake for desert. Brunch in Dublin is becoming as ubiquitous as a pint in your local of a Friday. Come midday Saturday or Sunday it'd almost seem like everyone between 24-44 is out for brunch. This place came highly recommended by a friend, and as I was in need of a pick me up I dutifully booked a table for two a couple of days in advance. When we arrived at 12 there was already a gaggle of people greedily eyeing up tables. When you book your spot you have a time limit of an hour and 15 minutes, such is the demand. My initial impressions were that the menu offers great variety, and a drinks selection to match. If you're sweet or savoury, something will catch your fancy! My friend had the Breakfast of Champions, and when it came out the portion certainly looked as if it was some Roman gladiators would have eaten before entering a tournament! I'm a vegetarian and had a nice selection to choose from too, which isn't the norm in most brunch places! I had the Huevos Rancheros, and as well as being attractively presented it was superb, a real pleasure to eat, a generous portion size too. I enjoyed it so much I had to exercise some table manners and restrain myself from licking the plate. As it was a treat we both had a cool glass of prosecco each, which went down too easily! I couldn't fault the service on this occasion - our food arrived promptly, within 10 minutes of ordering. The staff were accommodating and not overbearing. The interior feels bright and airy, the decor was clean, not too fussy and over-complicated, with attractive typography on the walls, and I liked that you could see the chefs working away in the kitchen at the back. Vegetarians should be wary that the home fries are cooked in duck fat. The desserts seemed on the expensive side (€7.50-8 each) but we were both comfortably full and couldn't eat another bite. The bill for two came to €41, which I would consider good value considering the quality of the food, the comfort of the surroundings and the generous but not excessive portion sizes. Delicious menu selections - we had the porchetta, and the ragu with fresh pasta. Both were delicious, well prepared and seasoned. Service was professional and pleasant. The atmosphere is great for a night out, and the location was central and a lot of fun. Great cocktail menu, don't start your meal without something from their vast selections. All these reviews are talking about brunch, but I'm here to tell you the facts on San Lorenzo's dinner! There's a few different menus available - essentially two set course options and the a la carte. I went for the cheaper of the two set courses, and ordered sardines slow cooked w/ tomato, olives, chili, capers on char-grilled crostini and oven baked veal & pork meatballs w/ fennel seeds, oregano, San Marzano tomato sauce & parmesan. The food is exceptional - and I mean in that way that I'm still thinking about the meal over a week later. The sardines were such a lovely starter to the meal and it was a really generous portion too. I'd asked for my main to come with GF pasta and the waitress came back to let me know there was some breadcrumbs in the meatballs which was great. Other people around me who'd ordered the same dish had theirs with spaghetti but mine came with penne instead. I loved the richness of the sauce, the juicy meatballs and the overall flavour which was just heavenly. I also went for dessert - the pavlova - which was a great way to finish the meal even though I'm not normally a dessert person! As Alex S mentioned, there were a couple of times we asked for things which didn't arrive (or were delayed) but it was a busy night and we were a large group so not enough of a grumble to deduct any points. The staff were super friendly and made up feel properly looked after all night. For a three course meal, the early bird option is a very reasonable €24.50 and I'd be sure to head back here when I visit Dublin next time. read more

We had a table booked for half 6 but the place wasn't that busy so I think you can go there without booking at the start of the week. Went for the sardine bruschetta as a starter - nothing to say, it was perfect. Then I had their pasta with zucchini and Parmesan, I could have licked the plate! I usually dont order pasta dishes as I find them boring but this one was great. FINALLY made it to San Lorenzo's. Friends have been raving about it, so I wanted to try the place. We went for dinner, and it was delicious! Both me and my eat-mate had the Veal parmesan piccata with white wine, lemon & capers, mac'n'cheese, and char-grilled green asparagus. It was really quite nice. Upon ordering we really wondered how piccata and macaroni and cheese were going to work, but took a chance. In truth, if they just brought out a big pan of the macaroni, we would have been even happier. We also got the wine special, which was delightful. And to end the delicious meal, we split the very tasty New York Nutella baked cheesecake with chocolate brownie ice-cream, salted caramel sauce. That was an experience. I was a bit disappointed by this place, I have to say. The reviews I've read and word on the street built it up and I expected more. The decor is a bit odd. I normally like minimal/ simplistic/ industrial but I felt it fell short of the mark, whatever the mark was. Onto the more important part- the eats. I had a pulled pork terrine to start which I didn't particularly like. It looked like a foil pack of cat food and the taste didn't make up for its appearance. It was really only just about ok. It came with a beetroot salad with goat's cheese dressing which was tasty but hard to get wrong. The main was a lot better- Grilled hake al forno w/ creamy crab, red pepper, potato gnocchi. The hake was nicely cooked and the sauce was rich without being too filling. It was a nice dish. I thought the gnocchi didn't quite work with it but I'm not a huge gnocchi fan (I ordered for the hake and crab) so that's probably just me. Even though the main was good, I felt let down overall after all the reviews about the food and the interior. The look out onto the kitchen from the sink area outside the toilets is pretty cool, though. read more

So I've been meaning to try this for ages as they seem to have quite a large social media frenzy for their #brunchofchampions which seems to be on all my feeds. The place was packed so word of advice it might not always be the place you can just stroll into hungry and hungover. We were asked if we had a reservation but luckily we called in at the right time and an awesome window view became available! The menu was a pretty standard brunch menu. My friend had been going on about the lobster benedict and how she REALLY wanted to try it but when it came to the crunch forking out €19.50 was simply too much money to spend before even ordering a drink. The food was really nice and I ordered the salmon which was so fresh and delicious but my MAJOR issue with this place is that none of the food came with bread and so we had to order it separate and were charged €3.50 for 2 slices of white bread toasted. I also asked for some spinach and was also charged another €3.50 for this. Overall this place is somewhere you treat yourself to brunch rather than a regular place you would go. The food was delicious and I am in no way complaining about it but clocking up a €60 bill on brunch without any alcohol is a little pricey by my standards! read more

I'd been to San Lorenzos before and it was delicious but a whole different ball game to what it is now. I remember delicious pasta and a whole lot of red decor. Middle of the road, nice restuarant with no real identity. Switch to now. I went for what has now become quite the famous brunch. The place now has a vibe. It has an identity. It knows what it is. The brunch was buzzing and the music was loud and the food was delicious. I hate comparing anywhere good in Ireland to other places, dammit we're good enough ourselves, but if I was of that disposition I wouldn't be afraid to say that San Lorenzo's would be very at home in any hip NY district. The portions were huge, the food was tasty and the brunch menu was extensive. The Bloody Mary's gave me a fright on first taste with their spiciness but calmed down as they went on. We hadn't planned on it, but once we'd finished brunch we were raring to go for afternoon bevs - the vibe of the place just does that to you. Truly delicious and scrumptious food served at this joint - I honestly couldn't find any fault and neither could my three companions - apart from maybe a little too fast service - that's as good as it gets. It was packed to the doors on Saturday night so luckily we had reservations. Would highly recommend the poached pear and gorgonzola bruschetta for starters and either the roast wild venison haunch or the wild venison ragu - both truly delicious. Word of warning though if you decide to go for the yum yum nutella cheescake with.....wait for it...chocolate brownie icecream and mouthwatering salt caramel sauce - forget about having a starter as you will not be able to finish desert! Myself and my boyfriend went to San Lorenzos on Saturday night for dinner and it completely exceeded our expectations. We were greeted by a very friendly host and seated promptly. The menu is beautiful with something for everyone, it was so hard to decide! They also have a comprehensive wine list which was great to see. In the end I chose the tortellini to start followed by the tuna. He had the asparagus to start and the steak for his main. All dishes were presented beautifully, cooked to perfection and all tasted amazing. For dessert he had the icecream and I had the Nutella cheesecake. Both tasted great. The cheesecake was lovely, but I was unable to finish it all after the meal, was a real shame! Service was efficient and friendly. Our waitress was lovely, she knew the menu really well and gave excellent advice. I also overheard her advising another table on the wine list and they seemed really happy with her choice too. She was really friendly, and spent time with each table making them all feel welcome and cared for, but also left us to enjoy our meal. Our only quibble for the whole night was our seat, we were against a wall with one chair stuck in a tight corner, but once we had arranged ourselves it became only a small issue. All in all, it was a great night. We left completely happy, and are already planning to go back soon. We still haven't been for brunch, but it'll happen soon I'm sure! read more

The mother of all brunches! How did I never go in here before? Well, it does take some planning ahead, as this place gets PACKED, and you definitely need to book in advance. Most of the brunch dishes are a tenner or LESS. Portions are HUGE. Food is AMAZING. Upon booking I was told we would have a table available for 1 hour and 15 minutes. We felt in no way rushed, as service was quick and efficient (and ever so friendly) I ordered the baked ham with poached eggs and asparagus. I also asked for some toast on the side (they didn't charge extra for it) I was delighted with my choice. There was so much goodness on the menu, I feel obliged to go back ASAP and try more dishes. Only minus point was that the music was really quite loud, and with all the chatter around us (there were mainly groups of women in there - so you can imagine) we did have to shout across the table to have a conversation. This was my first time trying it and definitely won't be the last. We came in on a Friday night without a reservation, even though the place was crowded and had plenty of reservations they still managed to seat us without any problems. The waiters were are all helpful and were willing to accommodate to my nut allergies with suggestions. We were seated however next to the kitchen which isn't a problem but i kept on seeing the endless loop of food porn that came from the kitchen. Every dish just looked incredible as if it came from a food magazine and i was dying wanting every single one of them. We ordered the mozzarella, avocado and tomato salad, it was so fresh and incredible. For the main course I had the cannelloni, it was superb, every bite just melts in your mouth. I've never 'done' brunch before, so when my cousin suggested heading to San Lorenzo's for just that, how could I say no? I glanced over the brunch menu and was so intrigued, I couldn't wait to give this place a try. My first impressions were hipster. It's a scarcely decorated establishment that makes excellent use of it's long and narrow space. It's comfortable without being crowded. I'm not crazy about the decor, it isn't my kind of style, but it's comfortable and I couldn't really ask for more. It took a long time for us all to finally settle on our dishes. I went for the breakfast of champions and my husband opted for the baked ham. As we all know from my previous reviews, I am queen of the Sunday fry up so this had a lot to live up to. It was good, not the best I've ever had and certainly not the worst. It was a large herb sausage, black pudding, streaky bacon, two fried eggs, beans, a flat cap mushroom, tomato, potato rosti and of course, some toast. For 12 quid, that is a lot of food. Let's start with the good: A lot of food, great beans, great fresh eggs. The sausage was okay - a bit too herby for my taste. Black pudding is okay but I would have loved the option of white. The bad: Tea was not included in the price. I don't know if that's just me moaning, but tea should always be included in your breakfast! I don't usually have rashers unless they're extra crispy. Mine weren't, but again I should have asked for extra crispy bacon. All in all, a solid 8/10 for breakfast. My husband enjoyed his baked ham and eggs. He picked his plate clean. We had spied the desserts from twitter previously and were determined to have one, no matter how much we had stuffed our faces. I asked our waitress for one we had seen pictured and although it was not on the brunch menu, the kitchen happily obliged. Kudos points to you for that! I had the dark chocolate pavlova and it was stunning. I have to say, this is the star of the show. The dessert selection is stunning. I managed to steal a sliver of the nutella cheesecake. Wow. The dessert chef deserves a medal. Stunning food. One major reason for the deduction of a star - no beer. Our party had four men with us, all of whom love a good beer with their food. The menu is limited to just wine and cocktails. Their soft drink prices are steep and the size of my tea was pretty small for the cost. All in all, a good four out of five stars. I certainly want to give their early bird a go. This restaurant is easily missed, tucked away on George's Street. Next time you're in the area, pop in for a nice brunch, or better still, a delicious dessert treat! Highly recommended. read more

San Lorenzo's was very good. But a warning to fellow Yelpers with nut allergies, they seem to use nut oil's in things you might not expect and don't list it on the menu. Just be sure to ask first and not after like I did. The meal was excellent and well priced. But a bit like asking Mary Lincoln about how she liked rest of the play... To be fair... if you look at their menu on their website they do state this clearly: "We are very sorry we cannot guarantee your meal will be nut free or your specific allergen free. Our food may contain nuts or allergens or traces of nuts or allergens. Please consider this if you wish to eat here or make a booking." I give them high marks for trying to communicate this clearly. Came in for the brunch and man was it delicious! I splurged and went for the lobster Benedict and it was glorious. My friend got the Pannettone French Toast and it was fantastic. The service was excellent. We got there 15 minutes early as queues tend to form outside for those who haven't made a reservation. Within 5 minutes of being seated upon opening the place was packed! It has toilet washhand-basins overlooking the kitchen and pass; super! These guys have Mermaid, Town and Dillingers on their dealsheet. The menu is tempting, the execution precise and the staff warmly attentive. What's not to like? I just prefer Italian as comfort food. I'm not convinced it's worth this effort and price. I have reviewed San Lorenzo's recently and gave it 4 stars I was confident about my rating however on my recent visit here I had something so delicious that I had to change that. I had scallops al forno and it was one of the best things I have ever eaten. I am so in love with this dish and if I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life this might be it. My family was also very impressed with their steaks which had a delicious garlic butter on top. We also enjoyed some seriously good wine. The service was fantastic and friendly. "Do You have a booking" type of restaurant. I went there with group of friends and we were suggested to eat there, but we managed to get a table without reservation that night. We ordered different types of starters, pastas and tried their soup of the day. I think their soups are excellent and the food was good too. We wanted to try their dessert as the place is known for their delicious desserts. Unfortunately, the place was booked and we had to leave earlier. I really like the food - the flavours at brunch are always amazing & I think it's safe to say I can lay to rest the search for Dublin's best margarita. Delish! I've had both sweet & savoury brunches & can highly recommend on both counts. & my other half swears this place has the best steak he's ever had for dinner. The one downer of this place, for me, was that they don't serve chai lattes! As someone who doesn't drink coffee that was a bit disappointing, especially since it's kind of a staple of 'hipster' places these days and is growing in popularity across Dublin. Loved this place: hip vibe, fantastic food from start to finish, and cool bathrooms. Okay, maybe the third thing on that list is a strange one, but you'll see what I mean when you go. And you should go. Now! I listened to the other Yelpers, and got the nutella cheesecake. It was a few weeks ago and I can still taste it now. Delightful and amazing. Big and rich enough to share with someone. It's not a huge place with lots of tables so make a res, and maybe don't bring people who will complain about 'lack of space.' I will say it was a 5-star place for me, but I'm their target market: 25 - 40. Even the music, some 90's classic, let me know this place was for someone my age. I can't say enough good things about San Lorenzo's. The food is spectacular - just out of this world good and you get lots of it. It is on the pricey side but I always walk out with a full belly and a smile on my face so I wouldn't hold that against them. The staff are attentive without being annoying and the Host (think his name is Eoghan) is very friendly.
