A friend and I are visiting Dublin for two days before heading south. We heard a lot of great things about this place and came straight here after we landed from NYC Sunday brunchtime. The hostess was very accommodating - we originally had an earlier reservation date but due to our flight delay, missed our reservation. She seated us in a cozy corner in the back and was super friendly! We ordered Avacado on Toast and the Coco Puffs French toast (as so many reviewers had recommended) and the French road was amazing!!! Not too sweet, but definitely something you would share among girlfriends. The avacado toast is a good portion size for one person, and had a fresh taste to it with the pesto and garden greens. We also ordered a side order of house potatoes, but could've made due without it. Would definitely recommend this as a brunch place!

This place has a coolness factor about it. No. 1. If you want a table on a Sunday call well in advance. No. 2. If you like really tasty food from a very exciting menu then make sure you act on No. 1.

Usually this place is packed with people flooding out...no reservation, no luck! However....we got lucky last weekend (a Saturday...11:30am too!) and the lovely server had a seat for us. The coffee was surprisingly good - usually it's hard to find a brunch spot that also serves really good coffee. I ordered the french toast, and replaced my bacon with sausage. That was a great decision too...the sausage was YUM - huge portions packed with flavor. The french toast portion was HUGE - 4 thick eggy slabs of it. My bf ordered the frittata which was also HUGE and as he claimed, very satisfying. Nice serving staff, and cool view from the bathroom (okay I know that sound weird...but you can see the kitchen!) I'd come back in the future, that is if I can get in. :)

Brunch and munch and brunch..... the atmosphere is happy and friendly the minute u walk through the door! Star number 1!!! The menu itself is so big and has enough to keep the moans in your group happy so thats star Number 2!! The seat we had at the window with a great gawking view of the street was just perfect for the Sunday nose!!! Star number 3!!! The FOOD wow wow and another wow.... it's our second time here in the last month and I cannot fault this place for brunch! We love our brunch and this place just ticks all the boxes!!! Eggs royale, French toast, pork hash and avocado toast has been our choices and we haven't been let down!! Star number 4 & 5!!! If u want brunch then this is the place! Chilled, casual atmosphere with funky background tunes and good staff! This gets our 5 stars!!!!

I'm gonna keep this short because tears are coming to my eyes thinking about the fact that I'm not eating here right now. I need a moment to compose myself before diving into how great this place was... We came here on a Sunday, suitably extremely hungover and the place was busy as hell. I had booked a table for the 3pm slot (after noting that the 1pm & 2pm slots were already filled) a week in advance; a very popular location. Sitting down I knew what I was ordering before looking at the menu. cocopopsfrenchtoast! Ahem. Let me say that again: Coco-Pops French Toast. I'd heard about, I'd seen the pictures, I'd struggled to grasp what this could possibly be but here I was, finally ordering it. You know when you've built something up in your head and then that thing happens and you're like 'meh..that was only ok' and you knew secretly deep down you had built it up too much for it to be any good? That didn't happen here. This dish met every single expectation and then exceeded them, casually. I was left in a state of knowing recognition that what I was experiencing was as close to perfection as any sweet dish would get. The other dishes that people are eating will catch your gaze and you will vow to return as soon as possible. Also the bathrooms were awesome caus you get to watch the kitchen from them. Visit them, even if you don't actually have to go to the bathroom In short: come here. The decor is great, atmosphere is amazing but the food elevates everything, even a very hungover Sunday, to a fantastic plane.

Absolutely delicious and affordable! We were here on Valentine's Day (we grabbed the last reservation slot for brunch) and thoroughly enjoyed their Brunch of Champions! I'd never noticed this small spot right on Georges, and we never would have found it if Whitefriar Grill hadn't been booked! We were a bit squished, sitting in between two other tables, but the food soon took our mind off of it! I had the Raspberry Crush (a refreshing lemon and raspberry fizzy drink) and the veggie breakfast- a masterpiece of potato hashbrown, tomato, spinach, asparagus and two eggs. Apart from the huge mushrooms on top (somehow I misread the menu! Not a fan!) everything was delicious and the sizeable portion left me full for hours. My boyfriend ordered the Panettone french toast with blueberry compote and cream- no words can describe it. He had never tried regular Panettone before and was absolutely blown away by this amazing dish. I had a few bites and was similarly entranced (I'll probably be getting either that, or the coco pops french toast next time because WHAATTT???) The staff members were very accommodating and attentive. Apart from the dazzling food, our bill came to only 23 euro!! Amazing value, especially in a city centre place. We are definitely planning our return.

Can I just add to the voices saying "Wow" about this place? I'm not the biggest fan of Italian food... I just find that it can sometimes be a bore and (depending on the venue) can sometimes be pre-made to fulfil orders, rather than being cooked fresh. Well, all of that goes out of the window with San Lorenzo's. This place is so cute. Quite narrow, but clean lines and minimalist design made me think of some great places I've been in other European Cities (Amsterdam for example). When we walked in, my first thought was "expensive". Do you know what? It is very reasonable! We were there on a weekday and there was three menu's to choose from. You can grab anything off the A La Carte (with mains starting from around €12 and going up €20+) or from one of the 2/3 course menus (with plenty of options) which are either €19.99 or €25.00. We were advised to have the Nutella Cheesecake which was on the more expensive set menu, but I really wanted the swordfish (which was on the cheaper set menu). Luckily, the friendly and attentive staff advised us that this wouldn't be a problem and we could mix and match. Wonderful! The wine list was good too! It's not cheap, but we had some fantastic red and white wine. The food was phenomenal. I had the seafood chowder, the swordfish and the cheesecake and everything was sublime. Fresh, hot and delicious. This place gets a big thumbs up from me and I would recommend it to anyone wanting great quality Italian food in Dublin!

Brunch of Champions! Yes, yes it is! Love this place, it's kitted out really well and feels like a cool place to eat/drink and be merry with your friends. Their menus are incredible and their notoriety for their brunch is well deserved, I mean... This brunch menu is bold and with some interesting, eye catching options it's hard to decide. Like one day, I came here wanting eggs benedict and then seen coco pops french toast, how could I not order that! This place is extremely popular so if you want to guarantee a sitting for dinner or brunch, make sure you get a reservation in. A walk in is a real gamble!

I had walked by so many times wanting to try this place, so finally decided to go for dinner last week. It was a Thursday night and jam-packed, so that's usually a good sign... unfortunately, it just didn't deliver for me. We shared the caprese salad, the tortellini, the antipasto platter, and the grilled cod (substituted because they ran out of the fish of the day). The presentation and plating were really appealing, but the cod was overcooked, which is such a difficult fatal flaw to excuse when they're charging €20 for a main. The tortellini was handmade, so thumbs up for effort, but the dough was really thick and stodgy - nothing close to the delicate tenderness you'd associate with homemade pasta. Everything else was just ok. I wish I could have liked this place, as the venue seemed so promising. A great location, beautiful interior and energetic fun vibe.

I'd heard a fair bit about San Lorenzo's, mostly about the brunch admittedly, but when I got the chance to try here for a work lunch, I jumped on it! On this occasion, I had absolutely no complaints to make about the experience! It was definitely a place I would recommend to a friend for lunch. A plate of calamari was more than enough to share between two, and was very tasty. The flavours used are really great, and particularly good were the slightly char-grilled squid legs that come in full formation. Normally I'm put off by food that looks like the creature it once was but for this meal, that was not enough to put me off the taste. It was perfect with a glass of very cold sauvignon blanc. (My lunch date's wine was less cold, which was probably the only negative we encountered.) For mains I was torn between steak and the pasta, but thankfully went for the latter as I was also saving space for dessert. It was so delicious, probably one of the better pasta dishes I've ever had. The pork sausage was so soft and almost melted away, which was delicious in my opinion. The pasta was very obviously freshly made in the kitchen, and the sauce was perfect with it. I had to leave some behind for fear of bursting, but I'm still thinking about it. For dessert I had intended on getting the infamous, wonderous, glorious Nutella cheesecake, but had to say no this time, there simply wasn't the space. Thankfully I managed to get a taste of it anyway, and it was definitely all I had hyped it up to be. I went for the ice-cream selection myself, which was vanilla (rich, creamy and flavoursome), chocolate (the PERFECT chocolate ice-cream) and salted caramel (I hate salted caramel, and this was still amazing). Delirah with myself so I was. Service was very friendly, and the place was very quiet at the time. It's lots of two-person tables so I'd imagine it gets quite noisy in the night, and there are some pumping tunes, but it was perfect for the lunch. I'll be back for that brunch!

Have eaten in san Lorenzo's twice - once for dinner and once for brunch with the family and on both occasions was bowled over with the food on offer, the desserts in particular are knock-your-socks-off good! My partner and I agreed that start-to-finish our dinner in San Lorenzo's was the best we had last year (excluding a fine-dining experience in Belgium that has yet to be topped), the food is fresh and fun - Italian food with a modern twist with an emphasis on big, bold hard-hitting flavours. The Nutella cheesecake still leaves me salivating many months later, be warned though, it's definitely a sharer (take this from a chocolate dessert fiend)! Our brunch experience a few months on from our dinner was another memorable one, having eaten brunch in many of the other well-known brunch hotspots (Odessa, Whitefriar, Havana, 777) I have to say that Lorenzo's definitely deserves the weekend queues out the door. Their brunch menu is varied, sweet treats like French toast and pancakes jostle with brunch staples like Eggs Benedict, Huevos Rancheros and Hashes, and each dish that was brought to table for our party of seven was executed skilfully- there wasn't a bum note to be found amongst them. My dish of crab cakes with asparagus, hollandaise and poached eggs was lip-smackingly good, each element was cooked to perfection and complimented the other components in the dish perfectly; apart from this it was a monster portion- you most certainly will not leave here hungry! My family are notorious sugar-hounds though and despite the fact that our mains had left us bursting at the seams, dessert was pretty much inevitable from the get-go. All I can say is, make sure you leave room, the desserts are crazy good, we had four to share between the seven of us and each of them were heavenly - the Nutella cheesecake and Ginger Sticky Toffee Pudding being the standouts for me. Lorenzo's claim to serving up the best brunch in Dublin is hard to dispute, looking forward to my next visit already!

Had been wanting to try this for a while. When I arrived there was a queue so delighted I had booked. It was tight but didn't feel that people were on top of each other. I had the Huevos Rancheros which was delicious, chili salsa wilted spinach with Polenta instead of a wrap which most places do, and I also had poached egg instead of a fried egg. The poached egg was more hard than I would have liked but that's just personal preference. I also had an expresso martini which was yum and had a bit of a kick to it. My friend had egg benedict and crab cake and she said they tasted as good as they looked. Around us the crab cakes seemed to be very popular. I was too stuffed for a dessert so got a cappuccino to finish. With so many places now that offer brunch I think this fares ok in comparison. The food was lovely and the place itself was funky. Although id maybe go back for dinner to try I wouldn't rush back but its simply as so much options now for a brunch. If you want a place that you can sit chill and eat for a catch up this isn't it as they do rush you (which is handy if you are hungry).

Called into San Lorenzos for brunch today after seeing it mentioned in yesterday's Times. I had the eggs benedict which were excellent. It was served on a toasted bagel with nice slices of thick ham, perfectly poached eggs and really nice hollandaise sauce. My ladyfriend had the ham hock potato cakes which also came with poached eggs, a creamy wholegrain mustard sauce and a side of fried potatoes and rocket. I obviously had a taste in aid of the review, and it was very nice indeed:-) Overall, nice place, friendly staff & big portions mean we'll definitely be making another trip to San Lorenzos.

This is their second location after the original FX Buckley on Pembroke Street opened in the 1980s; but the Buckley family has been serving premium cuts of Irish beef since the 1600s! The restaurant's interior leans into rich, warm tones with dark woods, leather seating, an open kitchen, and an atmosphere that feels both refined and approachable. Make sure to check out the massive dry-aging fridge in the front of the space, where scarlet-hued meats are displayed through transparent glass panes. We made a reservation for 4 at 6:30pm on a Sunday night through OpenTable, and the restaurant was about half-full when we arrived, but filled up throughout the course of our meal. Our server immediately brought over a tray of their six cuts of meat (all 100% Irish and dry-aged for 28 days), including ribeye, striploin, filet, and variations on the bone. Additionally, there's chalkboard graphics on the wall with detailed descriptions of each cut, which was very helpful in our selection. All steaks are cooked in their signature Josper charcoal ovens, lending a lovely touch of smoky flavor. The menu reads "classic steakhouse", with plenty of different cuts and weights of steak, refined starters, plenty of sides, and a variety of options for non-beef-eaters. We also appreciated the fact that each steak comes with your choice of one of three sides (chips, mashed potatoes, or salad), as well as your choice of sauce (bernaise, bone marrow jus, garlic butter, or pepper sauce). Additionally, all steaks on the bone are served with crispy fried onions. Their wine list is highly lauded, with bottles from all around the world, and a master in-house sommelier. As two members of our party weren't too hungry, they split a Caesar Salad (€13) and the Free Range Chicken (€29) between them. The Caesar Salad was a fresh salad of lightly-dressed, crunchy romaine lettuce, topped with an almost snow-like shaved Parmesan, and Crowe's smoked bacon. The variety of textures and flavors made this a surprising hit. The chicken was tender and juicy, served with a rich truffle cream sauce and salted kohlrabi, as well as your choice of side (she chose the Sauteed Chestnut Mushrooms with Watercress, which were so tender that they cut like butter). While we found the portion of chicken to be a bit small, the ability to choose your own side (which are normally €7-8 on their own) was much appreciated. My brother opted for the 22oz Ribeye on the Bone (€90), which was a hefty portion of well-marbled ribeye on a dramatic tomahawk bone. It was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, with a signature reddish-pink center, and paired nicely with their sharp Pepper Sauce. His Beef Dripping Chips were thick-cut steak fries, with a delightfully crispy exterior, and a pillowy soft interior. Lastly, the fried onions tasted like an elevated version of French's Fried Onions (bringing back memories of Thanksgiving green bean casserole). I chose the 16oz Striploin on the Bone (€49.50) - one generally wouldn't associate the word "value" with a top-line steakhouse, yet this was truly a steal of a dish. Cooked to a perfect rare (cool red center) with a decent amount of marbling, yet still incredibly tender, this was one of the best steaks I've ever had. The bone marrow jus tasted like a rich gravy, yet not too decadent for the sumptuous steak. I chose the Organic Leaf Salad as a side, which was an assortment of mixed leaves, thin-shaved carrots and onions, and a tangy vinaigrette; I appreciated the lightness of the dressing when paired with the meat. We were so full from our generously-portioned entrees that we couldn't fathom ordering dessert, though some of their options were quite tempting (particularly their Bailey's Espresso Cheesecake). Additionally, their Sunday Roast (€29.50) is a much more affordable way to sample some of their Irish meat, though note that it's only served between 1-4pm on Sundays. If you're in the market for a proper steakhouse experience in Dublin with quality ingredients and thoughtful execution, looking no further than FX Buckley!

All in all, I will not be going back nor recommending this place. The wine I ordered never arrived, our water was never refilled. In fact, after the food arrived, we never saw anyone again!! When the check came with an obligatory 12.5% tip I missed it and paid. Once I noticed, I flipped out!! This was the worst service ever!! I double check tipping culture in Ireland before I complain. 10% is good for good service and bad service is ok to leave zero tip. So I asked for it back. They gave me credit for the tip but not the tax on tip. Unimpressed. Won't go again.

First, I have to apologize for the awful photos. I'm not…read moresure if it was the lighting or user error, but I could not take a good photo in this beautiful venue. We were referred to Shanahan's by American friends. This is a classic American steakhouse, and had I realized that, I would have chosen a more authentically Irish restaurant. The meal and service were fantastic, but I'm not sure this would rank in my top steakhouse experiences. Our steak was not cooked medium rare - it was almost medium well. While everything was delicious, nothing stood out as unique other than the bread. That being said, a similar experience in the states would cost two times as much (think Morton's or Jeff Ruby's). The bread was fantastic, as were the scallops. As a southern American, the creamed corn was fantastic and as authentic as I've had anywhere (including the south). Our servers were incredibly attentive and the venue was beautiful. If you're from the USA... I'd pass and leave the experience to European tourists who want the American steakhouse experience. No complaints, just not what we typically look for when traveling international (which is entirely our fault). This is a very post place and reservations are a must.

The restaurant was beautiful and the hostesses were kind when greeting me and finding me a table (I…read moredid not have a reservation). The bread was Delicious! I could have ate that alone. This steakhouse reminds me of a Ruth Chris in the states. All steaks are ala carte and cooked perfectly. I got a half portion of truffle fries and it was definitely large enough for 2 people at minimum. Upon receiving my bill they gave me three chocolates which was a great treat. The only reason I didn't rate this higher is the wait service seemed to ignore me after I ordered and only till I asked for the check. The restaurant was busy with large parties and their attentiveness with them did look like if it was slower or I had a larger party I would get the same.
