Food is good. They are famous for their soy sauce chicken. Very flavourful but the meat is slightly pink for my liking. The restaurant is pretty crowded and packed with tables which gives it a HK feel. One server in particular spills things as she carries the dishes and tea. Go for good flavours and don't wear your nicest clothes

Everything was so good. Better reserve their steamed chicken with soy sauce cuz it sells out fast. The duck feet and fish lips dish was amazing, with the fish lips having a great texture. The pork liver was super tender. The fried fish skin with salty egg yolk got a bit greasy toward the end but was still good. Plus, they got free soup and dessert. Service was good Might be a bit noisy and crowdy

This is a typical Cantonese place where the general ambiance is RUSH, RUSHING and RUSHED. Don't get me wrong. The reason I say this is because there is always a line to get in and they try to accommodate all parties and seatings. Food is excellent and there's an array of popular Cantonese dishes that satisfies the palate and comforts the tummy. Busy place with long lines, loud conversations but good selection of food with decent prices.

One word: delicious. Loved everything we ordered for dinner. And sort of glad we called ahead to reserve a table and preorder the soy sauce chicken (yum). They're a lot busier than I expected.

Pretty standard Canto restaurant, nothing particularly stand out to me. The lady upsold us on the lobster lol and it came to $30/lb so that's $90 already, then we just got two standard dishes (sizzling tofu pot with mushroom and broccoli, and a house special chow mein) and that's $160! Luckily we were doing take out or else you slap some tip on that and you're at $200. Anyway, the lobster was good and we had lots of leftovers (for 3 people) so I guess it's okay! Also, here's the most up to date menu from July 2024

This is a Cantonese restaurant with good quality dishes. Recommend if you want some authentic food. Pros: + Taste of dishes is good. Highly recommend the soy sauce chicken. + Ingredients are fresh. + Great selection of dishes. Cons: - Price, though portions are pretty large. - Can get busy at times. - Typical Cantonese vibe - loud and rushed. - Only accepts credit cards over $100.

Great Service. Good was good. Please was clean. The Curry Crab & Rice Cake dish is a must try. It was my favorite dish of all!

Richmond is essentially a central place where you can find the best Asian restaurants. Sanbo Restaurant is one of the famous Chinese restaurants known for its extensive Cantonese menu & soy sauce chicken. The quality of food is very consistent and delicious. Our favourite dishes are: - House Special Salted Egg with Deep Fried Fish Skin - Braised Fish Lips with Duck Feet - Spicy Hong Kong Style Chicken Wings - Pan-Fried Chow Style Oyster Omelette Sanbo Restaurant has traditional Cantonese restaurant decor. You can find their chef recommendations on the whiteboard on the wall. It could be a challenge to find a parking spot, but there are rooftop parkades if you don't mind walking a bit far. Food: 4/5 Should Try! Service: 4/5 Kids: 4/5 Yay! (Kids love their fried rice or fried noodles .) Price: 2/5 Price is reasonable (dinner). Presentation: 1/5 Parking: 3/5 Tips: * offers complimentary house soup and dessert if ordering any dinner items. * recommends to make a table reservation. * has large rectangular tables and can serve big group for 12-18 people. * requires pre-order in advance for their feature dishes. Would I Return: Yes ‍

Solid Chinese restaurant in the Empire Mall complex. Parking is available in the strip mall lot. The inside is a bit dated, but typical for this type of Chinese restaurant. Staff were friendly. No complaints. The famous soy chicken here is their signature dish, and requires preordering a day before. I must say it's pretty solid. Not too salty, with a touch of sweetness. Definitely worth ordering. The chicken is pretty big too. I would say a half chicken is enough for 4-5 people. The other dishes I had were tasty but also typical. As in nothing really stood out. With that said, I really enjoyed the spicy garlic por chop, as well as the shredded beef with mixed mushrooms and gravy. They threw in a pot of herbal soup for our group as well as dessert (red bean soup), which was really nice of them. This place is best enjoyed in a large group (6-8 people). Will be back. Recommended.

Grayson and I have started to have takeout lately because I've been obsessed with having picnics to enjoy the last bits of summer. This time we decided to visit Sanbo Chinese Restaurant in Richmond. Sanbo Chinese Restaurant offers traditional Chinese dishes including rice, noodles, meat, and desserts. The preserved vegetables and pork noodle soup was not what I expected. Instead of being in a dry mixture of pork and vegetables, it came with a thick soy sauce based roux. I mixed the roux in with the rice noodles and it was almost as though I could enjoy it as soupless noodles! I eventually added in the soup because the mixture was on the salty side. Unfortunately, this didn't help because the soup was also very salty. Overall, the noodles were pretty average but hit the spot.

Half a signature soy sauce chicken - must preorder

Hei Hei Rice Roll is legit good, totally recommend, even my daughter too, I thought of her ( since she LOVES rice roll and couldn't make it on this trip with me) while enjoying these roll but when I shared with her the photos and mention that we will go back here with her- she already visited. She said it was so good! Hei Hei Rice Roll is located at the Richmond Public Market, oh wow - this place is really popular, on the 2nd visit I was the first in line then the line wasn't so long but while waiting for our order, the line got super long. I was lucky I didn't wait long in line. Best to arrive early. I am not sure what the secret to the rice roll but Wow, it's so thin, silky, smooth texture with the toppings, so great together. The last 2 times we had rice roll with my daughter at Portland and Seattle- followed per Instagram reels- those did not even compare to these rolls. My first visit I got the combo which is the best deals, starts at $15.50 but depends on what you select for the selection for rice rolls and congee. I got the pork & preserved egg congee, shrimp, mushroom, pork rice roll. The 2nd visit I got the combo again, with liver & preserved egg congee, scallop and shrimp rice rolls, but I got my order wrong for the roll- they missed the shrimp. fyi-I found out that bean sprout, corn, toppings are free! Both combo came out to $17. super cheap! Cash only, they take USD but its the same dollar $ value. I wish they take credit cards, hehe. & the Verdict: Yummy, the congee hits the spot for comfort food, loved how it is cooked and they add peanuts too. Love the packet of sauce for the rice rolls, the umami-ness, so good. Best to eat it hot and fresh! Don't forget to ask for chili sauce, to add that extra spicy kick! For now, I am not sure I'll ever find a spot that is closest to Hei Hei for my congee and rice roll fix until I get to visit Richmond, BC again.

No frills and worth the hype!…read more Our family of six arrived at 12 pm on a Tuesday. We waited approximately 25 minutes which is not bad at all considering how popular this small restaurant is. My mom is vegetarian and my girls had a wonton noodle soup lunch at another spot down the street. So we ordered a few things mainly for my dad, husband and myself: 1) Platter with barbecue pork and chicken (雙拼叉燒香油雞) 2) Half-order of roast duck (半隻脆皮燒鴨) 3) late of roast pork (燒肉) 4) Bowl of rice (一碗米飯) We cleared everything. The meats were juicy, tender, and flavorful. My girls are usually indifferent to Cantonese barbecued meats but they tried it and enjoyed everything as well. This is definitely a place to repeat if and when we revisit Vancouver.

They ran out of duck but do not fret because the soya chicken is where it's at. The soya chicken is incredibly tender, even the breast meat is tender. Secondly, it's perfectly marinated and if you dab a little of their homemade soy sauce, it's even better. Eat this with rice and you'll never want another meal in your life. This was easily our favorite dish for the place. Bbq pork and crispy pork are both spot on as well. They give generous and juicy cuts and the crispy pork is, well, crispy. The skin is a nice crunch and the meat is juicy, what more could you ask for? I still salivate and dream of the meat here and I wish we had something like this back in LA cause I don't know who else would make soy chicken as good as here. Cash only so come prepared! If you're a US tourist, they take USD as well but canadian is still the better deal.

I used to come here often with friends and families for breakfast and wanted to see whether it still tasted just as good. We each got two items from the breakfast combo, A through D. The beef noodle broth is flavorful and the congee definitely comforted my soul. The items listed in D are always a miss. We have tried all items and none of them was delicious. For example, the steamed rice rolls were very doughy. Other times, they were very dry. The items in D sometimes felt like they're frozen dim sum items sold at grocery stores. Service is a hit or miss depending on which server you get. Sometimes you get servers who come and refill tea and provides actual service. Other times, no one comes by at all even when there is no tea in cups, etc.

Portion sizes and price point felt standard for Richmond. I thought it was cute that they also put the teapots on a candle stand to keep it warm. We booked a reservation for 12:45pm, but because of the overwhelming weekend rush, we were not sat until 1:30pm. I understand that the restaurant was quite busy, but it certainly made the experience a little less enjoyable.
