We come here as a family. We usually get a table for 8-12 people. The servers are very knowledgeable AMA make great recommendations. My son likes the squab. I really like that they offer the Eight Treasures Stuffed Duck. You cannot just get this anywhere. You just need to order a day in advance. The stuffing is so delicious. We had been to this restaurant when it was on Park Road. I used to love their pan fried big oysters with soya and fried tofu. Thought we would give them a visit at their new address. Ordered half portion soya marinated pan fried oysters-- what a disappointment! Oysters are small ones, taste all right. Came here for dim sum on Labor Day. I called in advance to make sure they were open, and they took my name down so we didn't have to wait long when we arrived. We ordered a bunch of dim sum items including a variety of dumplings, pan fried turnip cakes, this century egg pastry dish, shrimp/beef rice rolls, pan fried noodles, pea tips, tripe, and sticky rice. Loved how each dish came out hot, and I thought most of the dishes were solid. The wrapping for the steamed shrimp dumpling were falling apart, but they were still tasty. The turnip cake was cut into small cubes, which was different than what in used to, but it was crispy and surprisingly tasty. The pan fried noodles were not the best I've ever had. Visiting from western Washington, my wife and I wanted to experience two extremes in Dim Sum Restaurants. One day we went to the huge Continental Seafood Restaurant in a strip mall with push cart service (last of a dying breed!). The next day we came here: a much smaller, more intimate restaurant in a building in town with a parking garage (free parking for restaurant) above. Don't recall if there's an elevator; we just walked down the stairs and into the restaurant. No carts here; you get a menu with a pencil at the table and mark those items you would like. We were the only Caucasians in the place...for me, that's a very good sign. Hot tea ($2.50) was served immediately and our server was very cheerful and welcoming. We had four menu items: Morel Siu Mai ($11.80), Dumpling Soup ($12.80), Sweet & Sour Chicken ($28.80), and Deep fried Shrimp Dumplings ($10.80). All Canadian prices. Total with tip when converted to US dollars was $61. The food was incredible! Can't recall the last time I had morel mushrooms. The soup was delicious with plump shrimp filled dumplings and luscious broth. I never order sweet & sour chicken, but the Seattle Times said it was less sweet and syrupy and more tart than most. First dinner back in Canada after 3 years and my brother and I be craving that steamed fish. Parents took us out to this fine Chinese restaurant over in Richmond where you be finding a lot of the fine Chinese restaurants. I guess this place is known for their Double Boiled Silkie Chicken, so we had their soup of it with papaya and sea coconut. The flavor of that soup hits nicely with it's warm savory taste that just brings comfort to the soul. We got our steamed fish which was a bit small, but we plan on having it again somewhere else the next day so a small size was a nice way to start us off. To go along with that we had deep fried crispy chicken, deep fried squab, sauteed shitake mushrooms with bok choy, and fried rice with dried scallop and egg white. I have to say the mushrooms were some thiccc boys. I was getting stuff eating those because they were so meaty. The fried rice was simple and clean that allowed the other foods to stand out more. I'm a bit over deep fried squab, but it was good. I liked the crispy chicken a lot and got me questioning how they get the leg to have so much skin. The restaurant was a nice place and had rooms for reserved tables. I mean, you still had to share the room with other reserved tables, but it was still nice. Service was quite good. They did their job and I have no complaints, so it's solid. Food was good and so was the experience. Definitely do not mind coming back again. Got here at 11am on a Friday and no problem getting a seat, though it started to fill up after 12pm. This place has a more old school vibe which is fine with me. The staff are friendly and attentive to my orders. I ordered things that I typically don't see in the East Coast but did in China like the XO Sauce Stir-Fried Chen Cun Fen, Steamed Chicken Squid Patty over Rice, the special shrimp dumplings with chives I think. Everything is delicious and in generous portion. This is a place where you check off what you want on a menu sheet like many other dim sum restaurants in Vancouver. The dim sum at Golden Paramount isn't life changing, but every other restaurant was fully booked and was turning away parties without reservations. After driving from plaza to plaza, We were just happy to be seated. Both our shrimp dishes came out first, and it wasn't the most exciting start. The har gow lacked that crystal quality from a well made wrapper, and the shrimp rice noodle roll was similarly just ok. Neither had me saying "Wow, the shrimp is fantastic." Things got better with the pan fried minced chicken in lotus wrap, which was surprisingly good. Perfectly crispy, and the chicken tasted unbelievably juicy. Easily the best version of this dish I've ever had. The siu mai is also fantastic. Not to repeat myself, but the pork is amazingly juicy and ensured these disappeared fast. We ate at Mott 32 the day before and this blew their fancy truffle quail egg version out of the water. We finished strong with the dried scallop and egg white fried rice, one of my all-time favorites. This expression was great, with all the right flavors and textures. You can even taste a hint of char on the rice, indicating that the wok hei is strong with this one. While I can't give the dim sum five stars, you could do worse than Golden Paramount. We ordered take out dim sum during physical distancing times of 2020 and the food was not bad but not great either. They had the standard sui mai, beef rice rolls (accidentally gave up two rather than the beef balls but thats okay), glutinous fried rice and potstickers (which were great, filled with a juicy and veggie packed filling. The more disappointing dishes included their beef tendon and brisket rice roll pot as it had many rice rolls but didn't have much beef. In addition, the spring rolls were lacking and again, very little filling in their steamed chicken bun and pan fried pork buns. THE thing to order is #618 beef brisket and tendon on rice noodle hot pot. Tender beef in a star anise sauce with soft rice noodle rolls. I had this in LA and couldn't find it anywhere else. This place id say is better Siu Mai and green beans are good. Better than your typical. Siu Mai was extra plump. Green beans had lots of garlic which gave it a unique taste. We did try the Chinese sausage bun. The picture on yelp looked good (bun was pan seared) what we got wasn't anything special - basically lup cheong wrapped in bao bread. Their baked bao looked good. My family came here last night for my mom's birthday dinner. They advertised a lobster meal for $168. The portion sizes were much smaller than their ala carte dishes. (They would have told us it is a tasting menu) Service was terrible. We had to wait for over 20 minutes in between dishes. We had to ask for our dishes to be changed after we ate the lobster. We noticed they were prioritizing the tables who ordered more expensive dishes & fixed menus. Relocated to the current address, first impression is that the interior of the restaurant is very odd and not comfortable at all, upon entrance you will find a small room with a dozen or so small tables and I thought that was it!? Then you will see a few doors along the long corridor, these are separate rooms with tables inside. Anyways, I really don't understand who did the design or maybe they didn't have a designer just renovation crew who doubles as interior designer! Food wise, it's totally average, unlike before the move, just ordered a few items to try out and after 5 items we stopped. Nothing outstanding, prices are on par with most dim sum places in Richmond ( on the high side ). But if you have to spend that money, I would suggest other places where at least you have a much better dining room. I always appreciate knowing a bit of history about restaurants I eat at, as then I know what to order and appreciate. Don't hold me to the accuracy of what I learned from my friend's mom who is an octogenarian but according to her the owner and head chef of this restaurant is the star apprentice of a well known Hong Kong chef. This goes back to the 1960's when prominent and rich Hong Kong families would invite these star chefs to bring their kitchen to their homes to cook for special occasions and celebrations etc. One other such well known chef went on to open the Uber-luxe and successful Fook LAM Moon restaurant. Anyway, realizing the pedigree of Golden Paramount added to my enjoyment of the food. Sure, the menu is less extensive compared to the new restaurants that's de rigeur in the lower mainland now, but what's available is delicious. And size of the dim sum - restrained as it should be! As quantity is what restaurants of less pedigree resorts to, to attract a less discerning clientele (happens too often in too many North American Chinese restaurants - giant dim sum!! Place is also quite small but not hard to get reservations - I guess not enough people appreciate the finer aspects of fine Chinese dining... Aiyah... but it's their loss and my gain. This is one of our #1 go to Chinese Restaurant in Richmond. So many dishes that are soooo good. The owner David is top notch as well bonus is he loves wine and offers VIP exclusive wine/dish pairings but you have to plan and reserve it so the Chef can get the ingredients. BYOW 2 Dim sum is great as well. We go here often and it never disappoints. Lots of room in the restaurant and private rooms as well to keep distanced. We have ordered delivery through Uber Eats, both dinner and Dim Sum and were not disappointed. They even went the distance and packaged up the dishes in appropriate containers. Must try! read more

We went here on a Friday afternoon close to closing and they were pretty full. We ordered shrimp dumplings, shu mai with morel mushrooms, shu mai with flounder powder, pork dumplings, scallop fried rice with egg whites, green beans and stir fried beef wide rice noodles. The green beans were awesome: crunchy and black bean flavored. We all loved the stir fried beef noodles: the beef was soft and silky with that wok hei that hits the spot. The steam pork dumplings and shrimp dump were well flavored but the wrappers were a bit thin and fragile breaking when picked up sometimes. There was only one choice for fried rice which was tasty but I wish they made a "house special" that I usually see at restaurants that has a mixture of different meats. I usually have some shrimp dumpings, shrimp dumplings with cilantro, and maybe a beef congee. However, when I expand my selection to stuff like ribs, chicken, etc. the quality can be a little iffy at times--though there are definitely more hits than misses on the menu. Pretty good food with mediocre service. Certain dishes were worse than before, but other dishes were delicious as usual. Number 1 tip: The captain who takes orders will always try to get your party to order the expensive items (usually seafood) that they make the most money off of. This might be the soup of the day (as I mentioned in a previous review), seafood, fish, etc. We made the mistake of listening to them and ordering their steamed shellfish appetizer things (I don't know the English name, see pictures), $5.50 each. Not worth it at all. As in my previous review, the soup of the day is not worth it at all either. During our meal we can overhear the captain trying to get others to order the expensive $ making dishes. Don't fall in his trap! I found that the food was pretty good, except for the raw fried sticky rice. We almost always get it, and this time, the rice bits were a little hard and the taste was not as tasty as before. Steamed shellfish appetizer: not worth $5.50 each, barely any taste, rather have scallops or crab or anything else haha. Half of a salt-baked chicken: juicy and tender as usual. Always a must-order for us. One of their more popular dishes. Pork chunks in sweet and sour sauce: Very popular dish here. Most tables ordered one. Pork bits were more fatty than usual, so it still tasted good but was lower quality. We will still be getting this and hoping for less fatty pork. Roasted squab: Very good and tasty. They don't cook it too dry so it stays juicy and the skin is crispy. I could eat the whole thing. Choy sum in broth: Quite bland and nothing special. The broth tasted good on its own but the choy that was cooked in the broth was as if it was cooked in plain water first. Again, the service is nothing special. They are able to accommodate certain requests though, which is great. They could have cleared our plates more often. We'll be back either way! read more

Golden Paramount Seafood Restaurant (I know, the name sounds just like all of the other Chinese restaurants) recently moved from a small strip mall into a brick building next door. The layout and the building itself is a bit confusing as we had a bit of trouble finding the place after parking in the attached parking structure. Things weren't very busy when we visited on a Sunday morning in late October (but that suits us fine because we don't like lineups... especially when we're hangry). We stuck with a bunch of dim sum items that we almost always order... Steamed Bean Curd Rolls ($7) and Steamed Beef Tripe ($7). The Deep-Fried Chinese Doughnut Rice Roll ($7.50) was quite good here. In some places, the Chinese doughnut is too hard and in other places, it's too soft. This one had the right amount of crispness without being too crunchy. Next up was the Siu Mai ($7) dumplings with a bouncy shrimp and pork filling and topped with fish roe. And last off was the Pork Spareribs in Garlic Sauce ($7). Most items were fairly standard in terms of dim sum fare but prices seemed a bit high. It's almost like this place serves people based on class???? We arrived at 7pm and ordered. Food didn't show up for over an hour and it's only when we argued back that our food started showing up?? Prior to any food on the table, we finished all our tea and still no one bothers to even come and refill? Everyone just ignores you when you request for something. What's worse is they pretend like they're actually helping you. Like I can't even make this shit up. We threaten to leave and our food shows up? I've always wondered if this place was good as I work near by but I am saddened to say this place sucks and I'm never coming back. first time trying the dimsum at this place....never knew they had them as from the outside, the lace looks old and withered! no ads saying dimsum etc.. anyhow, once setting foot inside, the place looks like its been spruced up. there is a loyal clientele for sure as some servers know customers by name... the order sheet is neat and easy to understand. all offerings come with english translations. food quality however is average. shrimp dumplings all look like har gow...all start or have shrimp and either mixed with mushrooms or other meats. the fried pork dumpling was fresh and tasted good! the sticky rice was bland and had no chinese sausage in them! taro cake was cold and tasted old. less variety for rice rolls. they however have several congee and rice offerings...we tried the chinese sausage and pork on rice as well as the beef with cilantro on rice. both were good and came hot and fresh! no siumai for some reason. egg tarts were awesome , crust was crispy and flaky! would i repeat? sure, just to have a simple sunday dimsum brunch....would try other things next time. cheers! happy eating! read more

Since my Chinese family and friends frequent this establishment on a somewhat regular basis, I've had the opportunity to sample a wide range of dishes. Two disclaimers: (1) the prices aren't cheap, but you do get quality food and service; and (2) like any Chinese restaurant that has an extensive menu that serves everything, you have to figure out which dishes are the good ones. From anecdotal consensus, Golden Paramount has one of the best BABAO YA (lit. "eight-treasure duck"). This dish, which you must order in advance so that they can prepare it just for you, consists of a deboned duck stuffed with eight ingredients (usually something like glutinous rice, shitake mushrooms, chestnuts, lotus seeds, gingko nuts, smoked ham, shrimp, pork), then gently braised for hours. On my last visit, we ordered Chinese FRIED MILK WITH PAN-SEARED OYSTERS. Note that this is not deep-fried milk, but rather more like a scrambled mixture of milk, egg whites, lump crabmeat and a handful of pine nuts or slivered almonds. It doesn't taste like milk, nor does it quite taste like egg whites, but has an almost buttery texture that doesn't overwhelm the crabmeat. The fresh oysters - which we substituted for the usual oyster-shaped tofu balls - were exceptionally well done. But they may have been a seasonal item. As with any finer Chinese restaurant, the trick is to develop a relationship with the manager (the guy in a black suit who darts around the room) so that he can recommend dishes to fill your stomach while impressing your palette. Tell him you don't want regular white people Chinese food; that you want to try the chef's more special creations, etc. read more

I came here for Dim Sum with a few of my girlfriends. We made a reservation at 11:30am on a Saturday but it didn't get busy until 12:30pm. The parking lot was pretty packed through, since it's shared with all of the other restaurants in that plaza, although here is street or neighborhood parking around too. This dim sum place has the check-sheet style menu. We ordered all of the classics but I was really sad they didn't have 2 out of he 3 favourites of mine. No white flat rice noodles with beef and soy sauce and no sticky rice with Chinese sausage. I really can't enjoy my dim sum without those items, truly a sad moment for me when I didn't see it on the menu. However, shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, fried glutinous dumplings with minced meat, chicken feet and meat balls were all there. The shrimp dumplings were good but kind of small and the skin was quite thin (I like them a little thicker). The pork dumplings were surprisingly delicious, being juicy and meaty. The crab and pork dumplings we had were really flavorful. Everything else was typical. Sadly, they ran out of black sesame egg tarts. I really wanted to try them, but I'm not sure if I want to come back for them. Service was nice when it wasn't busy but once it started to get a little crowded, you could really feel them rushing you to finish and get out.
