Sesame ball - these are not the regular sized sesame balls. They are gigantic and empty inside but taste very good.

Food in this place is really tasty and generous. They were served hot, not just warm. They give you 20% if you order before 11am. Service was fast. The servers are all very nice, would even recommend a good dish for you to try. Lots of people already at the restaurant when we arrived at 1030am. Great restaurant, very clean and very good food overall. Highly recommended!

Although the Peking duck wrapper came out dry, the staff readily made us a new basket. Service recovery at its finest. Red bean porridge is a sweet treat to the end of the meal

Just came here for a family dinner for the first time. The restaurant is elegant with high ceilings and service was good. We had the Peking duck set dinner with a $10 upgraded for the 2nd course stir fried duck with snow peas and green peppers, which was very tasty. IMO, better than the typical duck lettuce wrap. The set dinner also came with soya sauce chicken, sweet and sour pork, beef with gai lan. All the dishes were good portion and tasty. Our family of 6 were very full and totally satisfied. We just ordered 3 bowls of white rice. The set dinner comes with dessert as well. Our total bill after tips and tax came to only $35pp!! What a deal! It is unfortunate and ashamed this restaurant is not very full on a Friday night. I was told, their dim sum lunch has very good value dishes and dim sum is 20% off prior to 11am. I heard they are quite busy during lunch time. This will be my next dim sum spot to try and may need to make reservations.

Excellent service. Came here on Chinese Lunar New Year and there was still enough space for 4 people. Food was good, no muss no fuss!

Daily 20% or 10% off dimsum; special dishes after 11

Service was extremely quick and friendly, food was hot. Prices were so reasonable for the quality! A must-try which is unique from other dimsum restaurants: their shrimp paste filled Chinese donut, wrapped in steamed rice roll. The shrimp was so tender while the Chinese donut maintained its crispness, and was not oily. Their beef ho fun was also different from other places, using thinner rice noodles but still maintaining texture and "wok hei". The beef inside was very tender. It is part of their after 11am specials, for $13.80. Lastly we tried their new taro and duck pastry. We added it on at the end so unfortunately it's the only dish I got a photo of! The filling was smooth and creamy and the outside was crisp The 11am specials were on a menu only written in Chinese on the table. I suggest using Google translate to try them, or you'll miss out on some really great deals. Top of the menu says 20% off for all dimsum ordered before 11am and 10% off on all dimsum ordered after 11am. Bottom of menu lists special dishes you can order after 11am.

Update Apparently food was pretty good, so I am updating -100 stars to three.... Seems like it''s just that evil hostess that is fucking up the whole experience.... ---------------------------- The shittedt hostess and service ever, seems they only gives a shit about their existence customers base and willing to cut lines for them... the shitest of the shitest for the new customers experience.... I just hope their food is not as shitty as their service....

My parents always go to Empire Seafood Restaurant for dim sum so I thought we could try something else for a change. The space is large and ceilings are high. The food wasn't that great and for the price I have had better. There's ample parking in the mall plaza and I liked walking in the nice park nearby.

We came in on a Sunday night, around 6:45pm, no reservation and was seated very quickly Soy sauce chicken - must order in advance, we got lucky because they had made too much that night - sweet and succulent Beef and gailan - savoury - Tender beef - Gailan was cooked but still had slight crunch - Had a random glass noodle in it? Personally I don't care about things like this but some people might Dried plum sticky ribs - Ribs are fried and then mixed in the sauce - Bits of dried plums in the sauce (personally I love because I grew up eating these plums but it could be off putting tho those who aren't used to it) - The sauce was overall a sweet sauce but the bits of dried plums added a little bit of sour flavour - Very heavy and the meat had a bit of a gaminess to it House special fried noodles ( we asked for the noodles to be deep fried, my favourite way to eat it) - noodles were not crisp enough, very soggy - Could be more flavourful, a bit bland despite being covered in sauce. Seafood was cooked well This was definitely way too much food for 3 people, we only finished the chicken. The amount of food ordered was probably better for a group of 4-5. The service was okay, it can be hard to get a servers attention so you have to be quite bold in calling out to them, which I feel like to typical for a Chinese restaurant. Your experience here is going to be different if you speak Cantonese. Cantonese people love to joke around and their humour can be very... interesting. The servers were joking with us a lot but it made me really uncomfortable because they assumed that my mom's husband was my dad and that we were related. They kept on joking about how much my "dad" loves me and how spoiled I am? Which was weird because we weren't interacting like that at all. We are not related and we definitely don't act like we are. I'm also a full grown adult. It just made me very uncomfortable because my father passed away at a young age and I had been thinking about him a lot lately. I'm not really a sensitive person and I usually don't get bothered by this kind of thing because there was no way they could've known, but it was a very weird joke to make, especially repeatedly to a group of strangers. And multiple servers were getting in on the joke. It just made me wanna leave right away because I felt so awkward LOL 4 stars for the food! Minus 1 for the lack of service! Overall, kam tou has pretty decent food, although many dishes can be quite greasy. The clientele of the restaurant definitely skews older. The vibe is quite casual but multiple tables had brought their own bottles of wine so it can definitely be a place to celebrate things at.

Highly recommend this place. I'm pretty sure we were the only ones who asked for forks, truly authentic Dim Sum. The green beans with pork were to die for. We also had the baked bbq buns, seafood fried rice, shumai, steamed shrimp dumplings and spare ribs with plum sauce. All was excellent. Definitely a must visit in Richmond

Crazy busy on a CNY Sunday morning ! Swear there are at least 20 grumpy people lining up at the front waiting for a table so be sure to make a reso before coming . FYI if you order dim sum before 11:30 am you get 20% off , but some lunch specials such as perennial faves beef chow fun and chicken fried noodles ( half orders ) are only available after 11:30 . So to enjoy the best of both worlds I'd recommend getting a table at say 11 am then you're all set . Ur welcome : )

It was great that I made reservation before going to the restaurant. It was packed today Saturday. Also people were lining up at the entrance. The interior is considered spacious. There is some space between tables. I hate to be too close to others as I experienced dining at a few restaurants in Lower Mainland which did not put up plexiglass or any dividers to separate tables and tables. My table had 8 dishes of food. I didn't have a chance to take photos of all of them. Only photos of 5 dishes have been posted. The taste/flavours and presentation of the food were pretty. I thought I would be eating a lot of MSG or sodium but I did not feel very thirsty after lunch. Then this is awesome!! The customer service was good. The servers were very efficient. They had to handle all the customers, all the tables and food at the same time. The food came to our table quickly. The pricing was ok comparing others. Some restaurants are even more expensive than this one. We have noticed everything has gone up in price in general. So does dim sum. I would like to come here again and try other dishes.

We decided to try a new dim sum place in Richmond this time and Kam Tou turned out to be a great choice. My husband was the only non-Asian person at the entire restaurant, which is a good indication that this place is pretty authentic. Food was delicious especially and service was attentive too. We came here at 11:30am on a Monday and this place was already super packed. There was a slight wait, but like any self-respecting dim sum restaurant, it's run extremely effectively. Tables were turned pretty quickly and we were seated within a minute or so. Wish we could have tried more food but there was only two of us. Next time!

May be it's because we are all in "food coma" by the end of dinner! This visit was for dinner - and we were outside the door waiting even before they opened at 5:30. On a Tuesday. And we were already second in line. Celebrating a birthday, we had cold jellyfish starter, lobster fried e-fu mein, braised pomelo skin with seafood, and beef fried kai lan. The lobster was perfectly cooked. Even slight over-cooking can make the lobster meat tough. However, every piece was perfectly cooked. Including the large claws. Cooked with ginger and scallions, the lobster gravy coated each strand of e-fu noodles to umami yumminess. The braised pomelo skin was a special seasonal dish. I have not had this dish in many decades, and when I saw this in the special seasonal menu, I had to get it. The bittersweet braised pomelo skin complemented perfectly the fresh seafood, and topped a bed of Chinese spinach. It was the first time for the other members of my family and they literally sucked it all down. The beef with kai lan was another standout. Beef slices were tender and delicious and that perfectly complemented the well seared gai lan - great evidence of wok hei. Service is exemplary. Not just for a Chinese restaurant, but for any restaurant. The servers are constantly on the alert, and Everytime they see a plate filled with lobster shells, they would whip it away and replace it with a clean plate. They made sure that tea cups were filled and kept us updated with the delivery of the next dish. And at the end of the meal, dessert (Tong Shui) was complimentary... and they added a wonderfully light and flaky walnut cookie and piece of mochi for each of us.

Hei Hei Rice Roll is legit good, totally recommend, even my daughter too, I thought of her ( since she LOVES rice roll and couldn't make it on this trip with me) while enjoying these roll but when I shared with her the photos and mention that we will go back here with her- she already visited. She said it was so good! Hei Hei Rice Roll is located at the Richmond Public Market, oh wow - this place is really popular, on the 2nd visit I was the first in line then the line wasn't so long but while waiting for our order, the line got super long. I was lucky I didn't wait long in line. Best to arrive early. I am not sure what the secret to the rice roll but Wow, it's so thin, silky, smooth texture with the toppings, so great together. The last 2 times we had rice roll with my daughter at Portland and Seattle- followed per Instagram reels- those did not even compare to these rolls. My first visit I got the combo which is the best deals, starts at $15.50 but depends on what you select for the selection for rice rolls and congee. I got the pork & preserved egg congee, shrimp, mushroom, pork rice roll. The 2nd visit I got the combo again, with liver & preserved egg congee, scallop and shrimp rice rolls, but I got my order wrong for the roll- they missed the shrimp. fyi-I found out that bean sprout, corn, toppings are free! Both combo came out to $17. super cheap! Cash only, they take USD but its the same dollar $ value. I wish they take credit cards, hehe. & the Verdict: Yummy, the congee hits the spot for comfort food, loved how it is cooked and they add peanuts too. Love the packet of sauce for the rice rolls, the umami-ness, so good. Best to eat it hot and fresh! Don't forget to ask for chili sauce, to add that extra spicy kick! For now, I am not sure I'll ever find a spot that is closest to Hei Hei for my congee and rice roll fix until I get to visit Richmond, BC again.

The live seafood tanks had some impressive looking seafood, including giant hairy crabs. They had lots of live seafood specials, and we went for the lobster (3 lb). You can pick the preparation - I wanted the bifengtang style, but it's a little spicy, and we had the kids, so we did classic ginger scallion. You can add noodles or rice, and we went with fried rice. There are also optional add on sauces: truffle or salted egg yolk. The rice was so good and was a very generous portion. The lobster was also cooked perfectly. We also got a scallop, morel, asparagus stir fry, which was a nice and light dish, also generously portioned. They were really nice to the kids and gave them some extra paper to draw on. We also finished with red bean soup and warm lava buns with runny salted egg yolk - so good. Their dimsum looked really good, so I wished we could have come for that - next time!

We made a reservation last Sunday and when I arrived, the restaurant was packed. Parking in this location is absolutely horrendous on a weekend so please arrive early to find parking! We ordered a variety of dishes to share and most of them arrived promptly. However, I felt a bit disappointed as most of the dishes seemed to be less flavourful than other places I've been to. The fried tofu wasn't seasoned very much and the congee didn't even have any green onion garnish or pepper/salt given on the side. The bean curd dish was weak as the bean curd on the outside seemed to be overcooked or not wrapped as tightly so it was peeling off in the dish (no pic as it arrived late to the table!). For the siu mai, I felt like the size and texture was not as good as my usual place. I did like the oval shaped egg tarts as they weren't too sweet and very fragrant as well as the rice roll with delicious smooth beef filling inside. Service was overall prompt and standard. However, I likely won't return especially knowing how hard it is to park in this plaza.
