Honesty. Integrity. And plain out kindness. ---- I recently bought a 2000 Honda Civic from Froylan, the owner of Sanchez Auto Sales, about a week ago. My Dad and I were surveying different cars around the bay area, as I am a recent college graduate needing a reliable used commuter car for additional graduate schooling over here. Seeing the advertised Honda Civic on craigslist, my Dad decided to call Froylan and ask specific questions about the car. Froylan was completely honest about the stated cleanliness, reliability, and trust-worthiness of the car. But of course, we took it with a grain of salt because any dealer would say that of a car they were selling. To our surprise, the car was exactly the description he told us. It was clean, in great condition, no paint scratches or anything. We took it for a test drive with Froylan in the car. My dad, a car aficionado and prior car salesman, asked him a grocery list of questions about the car and Froy was honest in everything he said. Even if he did not know for sure about the status of something, he said he would find out and tell us immediately. He never tried to be deceptive or sugar coat a situation. Notably, he was sincere in telling us the status of the timing belt from the previous owner. It wasn't listed on the CARFAX report and he said because of his unsureness that he would handle it if we bought the car. So the car ran great and we took it back to the parking lot, and my Dad and I were serious in buying it. He lived up to his word when ensuring the price we negotiated over the phone. In the days before we picked up the car, he was communicative with us about when the car was ready. When we picked up the car a few days later, he met us at our desired location - BART and was punctual. And the cherry on top - he even filled up the gas to full for us, as well as detailing the outside of the car. He is the most sincere and his kindness went farther than I would have anticipated. My dad was looking for a used Toyota Sienna and found Froylan's listing on CarGuru.com. He was professional from the beginning to the end. We set up an appt over texting and met Froylan at his office's parking lot in Newark on Saturday. He told us up front that we couldn't take the car that day; the previous owner fixed the brakes and didn't do a good job, so he's bringing it back to the shop next Monday to have it done right. Wow, what honesty! During the test drive, I couldn't tell there was a problem. Froylan said it's noticeable when we brake from high speed, and since we were only testing on local streets, I didn't noticed the issue. Then there's the negotiation. Ladies and gentlemen, the stereotype is real, we Chinese ppl are CHEAP.....especially the older generation. I was feeling sorry for Froylan for having to negotiate with my dad. If I was Froylan, I would have met my dad's demand with selling the car AS IS, forget fixing the brakes. Nope, Froylan was a better person than me, he treated my dad with utmost respect, met my dad's demand, even offered to have the car fixed that day, and DELIVERED it to his house the same night. WOW. We stayed no longer than 10 minutes to do paperwork, put down a $200 deposit, and left to celebrate. The car arrived at my dad's place that night, as promised. 2 days later, Froylan hand delivered the spare key. 3 weeks later, the new plates went to his office and it was, again, easy to set up a time to meet with him to pick it up. As a conservative Chinese old man, my dad NEVER gives compliments, so I was shocked when he said "he is a nice boy". That's HUGE. Froylan really was a pleasure to work with. Normally, I'd be hard-pressed to use the words 'honesty and integrity' and 'car dealer' in the same sentence, but I'm making an exception with Froylan. I saw an add for a 2001 Lexus ES 300 for sale in Craigslist (I wanted another ES 300 because my previous one went over 330,000 miles. It didn't break down. I sold it to a friend whose daughter needed a car for college for $999), but wasn't looking forward to dealing with a car dealership. I was pleasantly surprised when I meet Froy, a one-man operation in Newark. His specialty is buying good cars from auctions, cleaning them up, and then reselling them. While it may seem like he just buys them, washes them, then flips them, I realized he takes pride in the vehicles he moves. I learned that there is such a thing as 'red light auctions' and 'green light auctions'. With red, it's buyer beware...no returns. With green, the buyer has 5 days to return the car. Froy buys from 'green light' auctions, then gives his buyers 5 days (CA law only requires 3 days) to return the car if not satisfied. Prior to my buying the Lexus, Froy drove it for several months since cars he buys don't immediately get sold as he works through his inventory in the order he buys them. After driving it for several months, he corrected issues prior to even putting it up for sale: new battery, new battery cable, new oil and transmission fluid, new brakes and resurfaced rotors. After I committed to buying it, the 'check engine' light went on. He took the car back and had that repaired. He also cleaned up the upholstery (I saw it prior to it being cleaned and I wasn't smiling) and detailed the car: wash, polishing compound, and wax. Except for a few small dings on the door, this 2001 Lexus is a beaut. It has 117,000 miles on the odometer. With a little luck, I'll get at least another 150,000 miles on it. $4150 and no car payments. I think I got a very fair deal considering all that was done to the car prior to my driving it away. If you're looking for a vehicle and your budget is roughly $6000, give Sanchez Auto Sales a try. Froy will treat you well and over-deliver when it comes to personal service and care. Ken read more

This is worth taking the time to make sure this HONEST Young Man gets a good review. We had to drive 90 minutes to find him but felt it was worth it and landed a GREAT DEAL on a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder. His Uncle is in the business and told Froy to get a license and set up a small 'shop' to help pay for college and work around your class schedule. Froy was very courteous and open about everything to do with the vehicle. He pointed out the wear on two tires and we called get quotes to replace them and Froy knocked that off the price. The rear wiper motor wasn't working so again, he knocked that price for a new motor (worse case) off the listed price. He looks for GOOD cars to flip and doesn't need a problem car that he could end up stuck with! He's a college engineering student.
