With all the great reviews, I really thought this would be a winner. Just how many gringos are in Breck? Seriously, this is not good Mexican. The house margarita was tasty and the service was friendly. But the food! The house salsa is awful. You'd have better opening a jar of Pace. The tomatillo salsa and cashew (think Bitchin sauce) are good. We split the Huevos Rancheros and a couple tacos. The "ranchero" sauce tastes Italian. There is nothing Mexican about it. We tried the Ensenada taco and Al Pastor. Both were meh. We definitely won't make this mistake twice. I'm from So. California and have spent a lot of time in Baja. I feel like my standard for tacos is pretty high. Living in Texas for the last 10 years, I am constantly let down by the Mexican food there. I was definitely not the one who said "let's get tacos in Breck!" But I was wrong. The food was awesome. The food is mediocre at best. The best thing we had was the guac and house made salsas. My chowder was also very good. However, the rest of our food was just not great. The green rice was flavorless and undercooked, the chips were super greasy and all four diners felt the tacos were lackluster. I will say that our server was very nice and accommodating. I mean even the tortilla was stale. And don't get me started on the bagged cabbage that was nearly petrified. Oh! And white sauce is NOT cheese. It's mayo. It's the first time I've encountered mayo described as white sauce in a Mexican restaurant. It looked cool on the outside and you go in and there is zero ambiance. The rehydrator is a must try refreshing and citrusy drink while at you're in the altitude. The salsa, queso, and spicy salsa were tasty and enough for the 4 of us. In the future I would not get the spicy salsa as the flavor was not as enjoyable as the other dips. The impossible taco was fantastic and very filling, in the future I would get two of these. I had also gotten a sweet potato taco- this one however was not very flavorful and had a strange almost fishy taste. This one is a skip. While in Breckenridge I decided to stop for a quick snack on a hot summers day at this very cute Mexican eatery. Since it was such a nice day we decided to sit at a table outside and order a few margaritas and something to eat. We were seated immediately by a very attentive server Tyler who immediately brought water to the table and provided menus. We placed drink and food orders and did not have to wait very long for their arrival. Tyler dropped off " the whole enchilada" which consisted of a basket of tortilla chips and tons of things to scoop and dip into. He explained each one and the intensity of heat so as to not have us blow our pallets out. We of course tried them all each delicious in their own way. I also had one of my favorite Mexican dishes, the cocktail. If you read other reviews of mine you might see this is a go to item. This cocktail was loaded with plenty of shrimp and avocado and was as good as many others I have tried. All in all we found the food and service to be four stars. read more

Sanchos was surely the better of the tacos in the area.. I love the margaritas, they are huge and they have proper frozen margaritas ! The tequila wasn't cheap either. The taco selections were great, they had a delicious gluten free sweet potato taco and an avocado taco.. I recommend these. The service was decent, she wasn't too friendly and she was quick to leave when we paid out.. We sat outside & there was many friendly dogs, many people walking by so it's not secluded but there is tables outside deeper in the back I will try out. read more

Craving some tacos for dinner we decided to check out Sancho while in Breckenridge! Arriving a little after 5 on a weekday we were able to be seated right away. They do have high chairs available for tiny diners! We started out with chips and salsa - the salsa was great, a little on the spicy side but the chips were a little too thin & greasy. I ordered a avocado breakfast-style taco that had eggs and pico along with a shrimp taco. I asked if they could grill the shrimp instead of frying and the waitress said that would be doable. However the shrimp seemed cold and more shrimp-cocktail style. The taco still had great flavor though. My husband had a tinga chicken taco and a baja fish taco and he said the chicken taco was SO spicy. We asked the waitress what makes the taco so spicy and she said the peppers they use are fresh so sometimes they are spicier than normal depending on the peppers that day. It was snowing all over the place while we were in Breck on a family ski trip. This place hit all the right notes. For the 8 of us, the two family platters made a bunch of sense. They have delicious margaritas! The mezcal and hombre ones were my favorite. We came several times over a week's time. You can order by the taco, which is nice so you can sample different things. Two tacos was enough for me, and 3 for my husband. I tried the shrimp and fish Baja style tacos- love them. My daughter loved the barbacoa.
