For over 50 years, I have only used Aveda salons. A few years ago, my very ill daughter and I moved here from Virginia for medical care. On September 10, 2021, Sanctuary was the first salon I used in the Twin Cities. I handed the stylist (Deanne) my Aveda formula that I had used for years in Virginia for my color touchups. She followed it and I left happy--with a head full of gold tones. July 21, 2022, I came back for another touchup; this time the stylist was Lindsey. I again asked her to use my Virginia formula and gave it to her. She agreed, but then changed the color (without my OK). My hair came out very dark brown. She refused to redo it with the gold color. The manager refunded my $200 after a two weeks, and I vowed to myself that I'd never come back! Then recently, I heard that the Sanctuary stylist, Deanne, was a master at spiral perms. I broke my hard rule about never returning to Sanctuary and tried to schedule with Deanne for July 30, 2025. The receptionist refused to accept me for an appointment! She vaguely said, "Four years ago there was an issue of some sort." I persisted and she finally scheduled me. After my color, Deanne and I planned my perm timing, and I was excited to do it! September 23, 2025, I brought my daughter (and her caregiver) to Sanctuary with me so Deanne could give my daughter a condition/cut and give me a color touchup. When I paid the bill, I asked the cashier to please break down the various charges, because my daughter had to pay me back for her services. The cashier said her machine couldn't do that, so I asked her if she would please write down the separate charges. It took her a while to look up the price of each service, then I had my list and we all left. But then when I called to schedule my perm, the manager answered the phone and berated me for being rude to the cashier during my last visit. (! ? !) I was stunned and quite hurt at such accusations! I told her she had to have the wrong person; that certainly never happened, nor would I do such a thing! She hesitated and then said she "would recheck her video" of the front desk that day and call me back." It didn't take her long to respond and she was very discourteous to me and used a derisive voice. That manager told me she "was positive the video showed me being rude to the cashier and I could never come back to Sanctuary!" I cried after I hung up, and I stayed morose for several days. It finally dawned on me what must have happened! That video could not have sound, or she would have heard what I said. It had to be because my checkout took longer than normal, that the manager assumed I was being impolite. (It took longer because the cashier was looking up the various charges and writing them down for me.) Now, even though Sanctuary may have the BEST spiral perm stylist, NEVER EVER (EVER!) shall I return there! How can they keep their Aveda reputation (or even stay in business) when their manager seeks out ways to run off good customers........ PS. I am also sending this review to Aveda HQ. read more

Sanctuary Salonspa - Myself and my daughter--New to the Twin Cities, 2021 - Day Spas Near Me - Eden Prairie, Minnesota

I have to agree with other numerous unsatisfactory customer service reviews of Sanctuary Salon in Eden Prairie, MN. I am taking the time to write a review of my second bad experience I had at this salon. What was good in experience with a relaxing massage turned into a terrible customer experience with the front desk person, Kiajarra at the Sanctuary Spa, Prairie Center Drive location. Upon checkout she already had a terrible attitude, then informed me it was full price of $150+ for my massage, even though in the month of November 2025, the salon is running a promotion for 90 min for $90 with a particular masseuse. She grudgingly (with a chip on her shoulder) rectified the price after I questioned her math and the salon's promotion. This salon has also had previous bad management, with employees and customers alike, complaining and quitting. I regretfully gave your salon a second chance to be proven right about your bad business practices. People go to the salon for treatments and to relax but having employees like this at the front desk is a turn off for customers and need I even say, it's just bad for business. That kind of mistreatment will drive customers away. Customer service takes a special skillset. It's an end-to-end experience and one that ultimately determines if a customer will return. read more

I've been desperately ISO a new hair cut and color expert after the gal I'd been seeing since birth retired. For context, I live in NYC but try to get my hair done during family visits because my last NYC blunt bob cut and partial blonde highlight ran $550, plus tip (fabulous job but woof). A cut, partial highlight, and toner with Molly was $200 less, and dare I say she did an even better job. She was lovely to speak with too (coming from a non-chatter at salons). Just had a wonderful shampoo and blow dry with Isabelle. Salon was easy to park and find, checked me in right away and offered tea or water. I love the aveda tea so I took that and it did not dissapoint. The service was extremely relaxing and the environment perfect with comfortable shampoo chairs, warm neck rest and wonderful Aveda products. I booked a partial full for 2 weeks and I can't wait to get pampered again! Isabelle graduated from the Aveda college and was very easy to work with, gave me exactly what I asked for and provided some nice conversation. Music in the salon was quiet and pleasant. No overwhelming smells in the salon. I would recommend this salon to everybody wanting a relaxing experience. read more

Booked the appointment two weeks or so ago after consulting with the front desk if they can specifically do a silver/grey highlights. I was assured they can and it would be around $200 so I said ok Was waiting for the appointment eagerly to have my grey uniformed and styled I sat down and XXX started dishing about what she knows about hair coloring and highlights and finally she said I don't recommend doing silver highlights because she doesn't know the outcome and doesn't know how porous is my hair and I might not like it (Isn't that some of the knowledge you get when you go to cosmetology)and it will too much money and high maintenance for me So it came down to judgment and that I might not be able to pay (I am black, I bet you guessed by now) She suggested to cover the roots and the toning will lift the rest of the hair Even though that was totally different from why I went there, and I didn't want to cover my grey, on the contrary, i wanted to bring it out I was already budgeted to have my hair done, I went ahead with what she said 15 minutes of covering the grey, she comes back and says she does not want to do the toner on my dry hair because it will consume more bowls (material) and more time so she will do it on my wet hair and it will be 5 minutes I asked, then it will be just like from a box? Of course I tipped her, just because it's a habit But I could have done this from a box instead of paying $174 I don't do my hair because of the ignorance and judgement If you don't know how to, it's ok to say I don't know and ask for guidance. I've been here twice for a haircut; I have curly hair so chose a stylist whose bio said she liked working with curly hair. My first cut was excellent - as the stylist was new to the salon, a mentor checked her work periodically. I was offered water or tea. Lovely salon. On my second visit the receptionist was a bit blasse, and I wasn't offered tea or water. My stylist was attentive and asked questions. Despite my being clear about what I wanted, which she clarified, it ended up to be shorter and more tapered than what I wanted. After a few days I washed my hair and noticed there were longer pieces around the ears and the back, that I needed to trim off to make it even (they were styled curly so it wasn't apparent until my hair was wet). I had an awful experience with this salon on Saturday November 9th 2024. I had an appointment for a haircut at 4 pm. I was supposed to be at a wedding at 6 that day. At 3 15 pm I got a call from the salon that they are running behind so if I cannot come at 5 they will cancel my appointment. I told them it was impossible to come at 5 pm because the wedding was at 6pm. The lady on the phone was not helpful. The attitude of the salon was really unprofessional. The great clips next door has better customer service. Sanctuary spa almost managed to ruin the wedding for me. I say almost because I called Spalon Montage in Chanhassen and they were horrified to hear this. I had no appointment but they were able to accommodate me and I ended up getting a great blow out. So people if you have time constraints and your appointment is important please don't go to this salon. I was also told the manager will talk to me first thing on Monday. That never happened. I finally got my desperately-needed haircut after months of quarantine! The COVID changes here include required masks; call when you arrive to be let in; temp scan; hand sanitizer; and only a few clients and stylists at a time. I was one of two clients today. It was so good to see Natalie again and although social-distancing during a haircut is impossible, Aveda does now prohibit other high-touch typically included services like scalp and shoulder massage and hand massage. I did miss that, but I'd rather be safer. read more

I came in today, initially just for products (shampoo, conditioner, hand and body wash, etc) but ended up making an appointment for later in the day with Maggie. We drove all day yesterday to get to MN, my back was a mess and Maggie worked her magic to get me feeling like a functioning human. I am here only a few weeks but plan to see her at least once more before I leave town. I see some other reviews about not having a full spa experience - I personally really enjoyed the extra quiet more intimate/private experience with this location. I have previously had spa and salon services at the other Eden Prairie location and that's great too but this wasn't lacking. read more

Fantastic massage - Sara was excellent. I would definitely visit her again....if she was in a different location. Two concerns: 1. Two locations: there are two Sanctuary Spa's in the Eden Prairie, within 5 min of each other. I went to the one that popped up on waze, and it was the wrong one. This situation could have been avoided if I received a confirmation call that stressed the location address. 2. No wall insulation: while my massage was amazing, I could hear a stylist conversation word-for-word through the wall. If you visit, request a room that does not share a wall with the hair stylists. read more

From the moment I walked in and was greeted by her. I felt right at home. She knew just how to welcome customers and was so respectful and wonderful throughout. I have never had such an amazing facial in my life, all thanks to Beatrice's expert touch! My face is absolutely glowing after the facial, literally never looked better. and the massage portion was better than any professional massage with a masseuse I've ever had (and I've had a lot!). I recently relocated to Saint Louis Park (my home town) after 27 years away. I had the same stylist in Portland for over 20 years. 20 YEARS PEOPLE! Over the years he had figured out how to tame my very thick hair with mixed textures. Curly underneath, straight on top. The perfect ingredients for triangle head. Ugh. I had heard about Tom Pepin from friends and family members and how AMAZING he is with color. I was psyched to find someone who was great with color, and having grown up in Minneapolis, the fact he was at an Aveda salon was a huge plus. But the true test - could this man handle cutting and styling this crazy head of hair? I'm happy to say he can! Not only do I absolutely love the color, (I'd never done an ash gloss over blonde highlights before and I love it!) but Tom figured out a way to add layers so the straight hair on top blends in more with the curls underneath giving me freedom from the blow dryer and flat iron this summer! the massage therapist was great, but customer service is the worst!! I received a gift card from my sister, I lost it, my sister called to retrieve it and was told the card was in the system. when I made my appointment, u was told the card was the system. upon leaving, they told me it is necessary to have the physical card to redeem and they had no record of my gift card. pretty shoddy. There are other fine establishments out there like Green Lotus who honor their sales. in today's world, a company should have a record of what they sell. read more

We would like to get some sort of refund on the false advertisement. The description for the "Together Massage" needs to state that it is two separate prices for each individual. The description is misleading, causing you to think it's for one price. Even though there is a "+" sign at the end of each price, you do not expect it to be $75 more than highest listing price of $110. It is confusing, especially for people getting their first massage. I called the salon and spoke to Lorie about my conflict with their pricing and massage description for the massage my boyfriend and I both got. She said she is not able to refund anything and would have Ryan her general manager call me. I got a voicemail from him and called him back a couple days later. He said he does not agree that their description is misleading and told me he will not be refunding me anything. I told him I am not looking for a full refund. He said he will not refund anything at all. I told him I will have to inform the BBB about this. He said okay and hung up immediately. read more

Today my daughter and I had the worst experience! The millennial at the desk was useless and had no desire to meet our needs. The manager was also a millennial and came out, made no eye contact and walked away. When we asked to speak to her, the other millennial said she was on break. Really? Are you a union operation? I went to Macy at Sanctuary Salonspa to get eyelash extensions. I was nervous because it was my first time. I was secretly worried they would look overblown, dramatic, or theatrical. My friend and I had been waiting to get in for pedicures for Mother's Day. My normal salon the Aveda on Prairie Center drive but it was next to impossible to get 2 appts together. So I booked them at this salon, the salon is nice and the 2 nail techs were very kind. The pedicure was AWFUL, both of our toes looked like a 10 year old did them. I had to leave because of family commitments otherwise I would have requested the color for both of us to be redone. I paid $80 for a pedicure that looked awful!!!!!!! I waited a day before calling to speak with a manager of the salon. I am a mother of 5 and to be honest I can't get away much. So this awful pedicure was just a thorn in my side. The manager called me back the following day. I think her name was Kelly? Maybe? Well she was a snot, I explained to her that the girls were very kind but they needed more training. The manager asked me what I wanted out of my phone call ummmmm how about a polish change!!! I told her I wasn't looking for handouts but that this quality of salon should employ good techs. I informed her I would never be back to her location and that I would contact the other EP salon to have my polish changed. I love EP salon on Prairie center drive but when I called them it was impossible to get an appt or get anyone on the phone who cared about my experience. I am so disappointed since this is the best salon in EP in my opinion. I love the facials, massages and other services but I think I may be done with both. My toes are still awful and I feel like I will be pursuing a new salon in the next few days. read more

I don't usually go to this salon. I went here because I got my hair done at my usual place and I hated it, but didn't have the heart to tell her that. So, when I first walked in here yesterday to just ask simple questions on what they would recommend me doing to fix it. And, they were very nice and I ended up setting an appointment up for today at 12. I was with Sydney Rosenmeier and she comforted me and made sure I was comfortable speaking my mind and getting exactly what I wanted from my hair. To fix it she recommended me getting a Demi permanent color in my roots and as she was applying it I was very relaxed and excited for the results. As it was setting I kept thinking why haven't I been in here before because they offer so many things in the salonspa it's like you never have to leave. When it was time to wash it out we went in the back to this room with the sinks and it was beautiful and the music that was playing was insanely relaxing (I could've fallen asleep). While she was washing it out I got a head massage and a hand massage. I kept thinking wow this is amazing but how much do I have to pay for all of this. She styled my hair and when it came to pay I was paying the SAME or even a little less than I would have if I went to my usual salon... I was so shocked and I am for sure going to switch over to this salon I feel like I get more for my money here. They are very welcoming professional and if I ever want a massage or an eyebrow wax I don't even have to leave. Great scalp massage prior to a long, luxurious shampoo and rinse in a relaxing atmosphere. I booked my appt for EP location. I was not informed that there are TWO locations for spa services. I did not get a confirmation call. So I called the Prairie Ctr drive spa and they didn't have my appts. I thought the Kolwaski location was for hair only but that's where it was. It was a special occasion treat for me and my BFF and would have liked the true spa experience. Mixed results: Haircut okay. Long bob uneven. Massages were good. Relaxing. Facial great! Aveda products, of course it was great. Pedicures were nice but the polish I got was old and goopy. They didn't last more than a week and quickly chipped off. I tipped well and didn't complain but it was a spendy lesson to learn. They definitely should have asked me which location I wanted as the prices were the same. read more

It was my first time getting a haircut at sanctuary salon and spa. Oh my goodness first of all the girl working the front desk and phone was just a doll! What a great attitude and very personable. She was a great first impression of the salon. I wish I had got her name. But if you see her she is younger with auburnish hair you are in good hands ;). Second my hair stylist her name is Angie. She was awesome too!!! I think she is part time right now because she just had a new baby girl. But if you can get her I would! I recently got my hair cut by a new stylist, Latia. She did an EXCELLENT job. She took plenty of time to help figure out exactly what I needed, and made suggestions on what would work best. It's been a few days since my cut, and I still love it. I go for low-maintenance, wash and wear type cuts and sometimes what looks great at the salon after a blow dry with a round brush doesn't translate well to home and towel drying. My cut does. She was friendly and professional, and wasn't pushy with the products. Plus, it's an Aveda salon so it smells amazing. I'll definitely be back! read more
