I would give zero stars if possible. They told us to be here before 6 to see the unit only to get here and the doors are locked. I would've been okay rescheduling if they told me they were leaving early. But instead I took the time out of my day, cut work early to be here on time to take a look and nobody is here. The company is great when you use them, however when you decide to move out they don't inform you of issues that may arise. You can call and speak with them but they won't inform you if there any problems and then charge you for rent even when you are done. They are impossible to work with after the fact and won't do anything to help. If there wan issue when you were a customer, they would call you. When you are done they don't follow up. I have found the staff here to be responsive when I call, friendly when I go in, helpful with my lock issues, and very upfront about fees. They communicate well and I don't have issues. The only issue there is with this place is you run the risk of getting locked in after 9:00 pm, but that would be your own fault because they warn you repeatedly. read more

I was locked in tonight because I was exiting 5 mins after the gates lock for the night. SERIOUSLY!!!!! Locked in. Sheriff said they could not get me out. I had to spend the night or leave my car. I am SHOCKED!!! I called and they have an emergency voice mail for an on call manager to get back to you. No such luck. No one ever called me back. Total shit hole! Dirty and unkept. My storage door was always broke and management would never fix it. Then on top of that they said that per the contract they were not responsible for any damage or theft. Managers we're always unresponsive and very callous. They don't care about you. Before you think about coming here -- VALENCIA TRAVEL VILLAGE has a brand new massive parking lot, cheaper than this dump, and they won't try to scam you out of your hard earned money. These "people" (I use that word loosely) are just horrible. I have been here since May, the gate has malfunctioned several times, locking me in for at least 30 minutes, all the way up to an hour once. Their "emergency" line isn't real, it just dumps to a silent voicemail box that is probably just an answering machine floating out in space, or it might as well be. First off, I have no faith in their measuring system -- I don't believe my space is 50 feet, I have a 24 foot camper and a 24 foot boat, and I still needed 3 more feet to fit in, every RV around me (I have pictures) also needed 2-3 feet of space in the rear. Since it's just desert, EVERYONE is backed up a little further back. Mind you -- NOWHERE in the lease does it say anything about having overhang in the rear, it just says "PLEASE stay within side lines to remain courteous to your neighbor". They called me on the 1st, with a HUGE attitude about it, I said "No problem, i'll take care of it. Then I said -- there seems to be a space issue, and everyone else is parked back, so are we sure I have 50 feet?" The lady went irate. I asked her very nicely "Well, if it's just a matter of a few feet, how much would you charge me for the space?" She said she'd call the owner and find out. I get a call a few minutes later... $100 for 3 feet. I'm only paying $165 for 50 feet, something doesnt make sense. I reply with a chuckle "I think your math is off, absolutely not, no way, i'll just move my boat somewhere else" She hangs up on me. Three days later, I get a call from them, telling me my credit card didn't go through, I told them my AMEX was stolen and i'd go online and take care of it right away. When I logged in, they raised my rent from $165 to $265. Zero written notice. (State law requires 60 day written notice before any increases above 10%). She literally screams at me, talks over me, rambles, yells in Spanish" I told her I am moving the boat, it's no problem at all, I found another space -- She yells and demanded that I pay. I told her everyone else parks further back and there is nothing in my lease saying I cannot have overhang IN THE DESERT! She tells me "its not up to you to look at other peoples spots that's their business, not yours.". Apparently they overvalue the useless wastelands of outer Sand Canyon.. so I told her, if it's really that important to try to belittle me over the situation, i'm going to take to the internet, leave reviews of my experience and vacate. She said "That would be great, thank you!" and hung up. Not only does it say NOTHING in my lease about parking beyond the rear, I took pictures of EVERY ONE else who did. They broke the law. They broke our contract. All because of what? A bad attitude? Terrible skills when it comes to human interaction? If you're reading this, stay FAR away. These people are just miserable, and should find another job. Preferably nothing where they have to see, hear, or god forbid interact with another human being. Completely unreasonable. Unfair. I have been storing in this facility on and off for over 10 years. This storage facility is always very clean. Staff is always friendly. I've had zero issues. They were always helpful when I was unable to pay my rent on time due to financial problems. I lost my job of 15 years and the manager worked with me. Charged my card over $900 (without my permission) because the the amount I was paying online wasn't enough, I guess. The manager said they mailed and emailed notices but I received nothing. After calling around all morning I found this storage facility to have a good price and was near where I lived. I made a reservation and canceled another reservation at another nearby facility. When I got there I was told my reservation was no good. Even though I had the email confirmation of the reservation and she had it on her computer. Instead of trying to solve the issue she blamed the answering service for getting it wrong and if I wanted something I would have to pay more $60 more for a unit. Bait and switch? No attempt was made to help me. No apology, nada. Avoid like the plague. You would get better customer service from a cardboard box. Lastly, the sign on the counter said "You must have a lock at time of rental NO EXCEPTIONS". This was next to a display that had locks that cost twice as much as you can get them anywhere else. My husband and I were moving but we had too many boxes. We started searching for places in the Santa Clarita area and we came upon this facility which was convenient because it was close to our new apartment. The manager and workers were so nice and answered any questions we had. I HIGHLY recommend coming to this storage facility. I came into the facility looking for a short term storage to hold some furniture while I was moving into my new place. Staff was very welcoming and answered all of my questions. I stayed here for a couple of months with no issues at all. They even gave me courtesy calls so that I wouldn't forget to pay my rent! Definitely would come back again if needed! :) read more

Looks like nothing's changed since last reviews. Wish I'd read them in advance of renting a unit. Watch out! I was perfect tenant, checked out, paid the final bill, cleaned and swept out the unit before due date, then 6 days later they called and said that I left a lock on the back door. I never put a lock on the back door! They then proceeded to charge me for the whole month, plus a late fee, even though I'd given 10 day notice. If I could give them zero stars I would. Please stay away from this place. My bipolar exhusband had units here and along with his hoarded belongings he kept my children's childhood home videos hostage. Because he was homeless and left the State a few years ago the late notices came to my house. I went there a dozen times and my adult children did as well to offer to pay for the units and get the videos. The staff said they could take my money but wouldnt allow any of us access to the units. I gave them my phone number several times and begged them to call me if they went to auction so I would hgv ave the opportunity to get my belongings. I was assured that would happen. But they also said the manager was very lenient with my ex since he generally came through with payment. They also said that legally if a unit is auctioned off the personal affects have to be returned but most buyers dont bother. So I reiterated the begging and even told them that the divorce decree said I was supposed to have them. And again I was assured that they had my contact info. We just got a bill of almost $1,700. My son went in yesterday to figure out what to do and he was told there was an auction today. Turns out that was a lie and they sold off everything two days ago and NEVER contacted me. And even though they have the name of who bought the unit they refuse to contact them. And obviouslytome is of the essence. No compassion for my adult son standing there in tears. No care factor. No humanity whatsoever. I cant believe that anyone would be so incredibly heartless. I have been a business owner in Santa Clarita for over 30 years and I can honestly say I have never ever ever treated someone so heartlessly especially when I had the power to make things right. I'm a long-term (3+ Years) tenant of this facilty....but only because it is close to my home. The unit is clean and things seem to be well maintained. No real complaints about the product. My issue is the management. I believe that I have been pretty much a model customer....pay annually in advance...no troubles to speak of, but I can't shake the feeling that I am regarded as the enemy. I dont think that I've been treated as badly as some other reviewers, but it has certainly never been more than coldly cordial. All requests seem to be met with "let me check with the manager" ....and then rejected. Not much incentive to stay, other than geography. I will certainly move on as soon as I can accomplish it. read more

Worst customer service ever, one of their employees (Eric) was the worse. When I spoke with the manager her response was there was nothing she could do and she herself didn't care. They don't care about their customers they are only interested in getting your money. I had been with them for a few years with several issues but I stuck it out. I never write reviews but they upset me so much I felt compelled to let everyone know how bad they are. I had reserved a larger space due to buying a larger RV. On numerous occasions I reminded them and they said there was one coming available at the end of the month so I told him I wanted it and would move my RV to the new space then. A few days later he said I needed to move my RV to the lower level which is not what I wanted. I still went and looked at the space and told Eric I would move it there temporary until the new space became available, he said no problem. I mention to him that he would need to trim the tree next to the space that he wanted me to move too so it doesn't scratch my new RV so I would wait for his call. He said it would be done over the weekend and that I needed to move my RV then. I came back over the weekend and after getting my RV ready to move a few couple of things happened, one he did not give me access to the lower section so I had to once again maneuver around the facility and put it back to my original space. I also noticed that he did not trim the tree as he said he would. A week later I get an angry call from Eric asking why I hadn't moved my RV, I explained the above and still he made it sound like it was my fault. He said I needed to move it tonight, I told him I was out of town on business and could not but he did not care even though this was his fault. I once again reminded him about the new space I wanted. I told him the space was empty so I would move my RV to that space upon my return in a few days. He said I needed to move it tonight and I could not use that space yet so I would have to move it to the lower lot area. I asked him to have the manager, Rocio call me to discuss further but I never received a call from her so I called and left several messages for her to call me and again no call back. At this point I moved my RV to the area which I didn't want to be in even though the space that I had reserved was still empty. A month later I go in and find out that he (Eric) had rented my reserved space to someone else. This guy is the worse, I asked the manager and even had her look at the notes in the system which matched what I stated above and yet she did NOTHING, so I told her to cancel my storage all together that I was leaving. I will never use these folks again, they don't care about their customers and are obviously so disorganized. read more

The only reason I am giving this place one star is because it is clean. However customer service is HORRIBLE!! Property manager has no idea of the law and creates her own policies. Upon my move out I signed my 10 day notice to vacate because I could not pay for those 10 days right them and there because I did not bring my wallet, it was a hectic day while having a moving truck and three movers. The property manager became angry demanding payment threatening me to put a lock on my door right then and there. I then informed her that I signed a 10 days notice I have 10 days to pay and move my belongings. Since the situation was not going the way she insisted, when I called to make my payment they refused to take it. I then received a bill for a full month's rent plus a late fee. When I called to speak to them my phone call got passed around to all three members of the staff. Each one of them rude and hostile. I requested a copy of my Rental Agreement so I could see where this policy they are stating is coming from for them to charge me an additional $250. They refused. I sent an email requesting no response. I was then contacted by a collection agency. I explained the story, they claimed Sand Canyon Storage claims I never signed a 10 day notice, funny the collection agency had the entire file except for the ten day notice that I was moving out. The agency sent me a copy of my Rental Agreement and I sent a copy of the 10 day notice. I also informed them that this is a form of harassment because property manager did not get her way and there is nothing in writing justifying this policy she has made up to charge me this ridiculous amount. The collection agency notified me that they have sent my file back and want no part of this. I have now called Sand Canyon Storage to pay and they again are refusing to take my payment. Small claims court here I come. read more
