To those on the fence: Go for it! Sand Master Park was a blast! So much fun when you have the right equipment... I recall trying to "sandboard" down the dunes, being pulled behind a pick-up truck down the beach, as well as being attached to a para-sail(para-foil?) Kite with a snowboard when I was younger and can only ‍ now at my younger self. Clearly we were out of our depth and thankfully, then, it wasn't my gear that was getting destroyed( I wouldn't have been so indiscriminate in the destruction of the equipment thats used for my hobbies, being the younger of the two all i could do was participate!) But I digress. Those younger attempts would've been a success had I known about this place then! They have everything one needs to truly ride a Maverick- and get the drop on some of the biggest "waves" around. All while never having to step foot in the ocean! In all seriousness though Sandmaster Park was a demonstration of a Craftsman that has mastered his craft and medium. I was quite impressed with the range and depth of knowledge on display here. Literally and figuratively. For those that don't know: the sand we have around here is quite magnificent as far as sands go. Consistent, smooth, pillowy even and the guys at Sand Master Park are in their element and it shows. The value proposition here is pretty decent too, I found it to be pretty affordable. The "$s to Do-It" ratio is well within reason, and a big one for me= The Night Dop Off box! read more

Brought my mom here on her 60th birthday because she mentioned once years ago that she always wanted to try something adventurous but never got around to it. I was a little worried it might be too physical for her but the staff were so accommodating, they helped her find a board that suited her comfort level and walked with her on her first run at a pace that felt right for her. She didn't go fast or do anything wild, but she was absolutely beaming the entire time. Said it felt like flying for a second right at the start of the slope. That made the whole trip worth it for me. We also spent time in the shop after, which she loved because she's the type who likes learning the backstory of things. The history of sandboarding on the walls kept her occupied for a good half hour. I overheard her telling someone on the phone about it later that day using the word "magical" which she never says. These guys have excellent service and go over and above to help the customer. They offer high quality gear and are customer oriented, answering all of my questions to help me know what I need to care for my equipment and get the best use out of it. I just bought my 4th board from them (3 bought in 2019). They went above and beyond to get my order completed and shipped to me by Christmas, when they had previously let me know that wouldn't be possible. Additionally, I had made a special request on the artwork when ordering and they let me know that would also not be possible which I understood. However, the owner contacted me in the middle of painting process to let me know he figured out a way to grant my request and asked if he could do it. I answered a delighted yes. I received the board 2 days ago and I am beyond thrilled with the work and personal touches and care Lon put into this board for my Son's Christmas. You can't go wrong with these guys!! Came out here with a group of coworkers for a team outing and it ended up being one of the better group decisions we've made. Someone in our group had been once before and kept insisting it would be a good time. Most of us were skeptical because sandboarding sounds kind of niche and a little random. Within about ten minutes of getting there, everyone was completely on board, literally and figuratively. What I noticed immediately was how open and relaxed the whole setup is. You can grab a sled instead of a board if standing feels like too much. You can take your time walking up the dune. You can sit at the bottom and watch everyone else make fools of themselves, which was also very entertaining. The shop has a really genuine feel to it, not touristy or commercialized. You can tell the people running this place actually love what they do. Will absolutely be coming back. This kind of experience is hard to find anywhere. read more

Honestly didn't know what to expect when my cousin convinced me to try sandboarding on a whim during our Oregon coast trip. I'm not really an outdoorsy person, I spend most of my weekends indoors , so I was fully prepared to hate every second of it. But WOW, was I wrong. David helped us pick out rental boards was super patient with me asking hundred questions. They didn't make me feel embarrassed at all. My first run down the dune I completely wiped out, and somehow that was the most fun I'd had in years. It was a blast! The sand is so soft that falling doesn't even hurt. I went back up and did it probably fifteen more times. What really surprised me was the little shop they have displays actual sand from famous dunes in little jars the Sand Master Park owner has ridden. Felt like a real museum mixed with a surf shop. I'm already planning to come back next summer with my whole family. Seriously, just go. read more

Sand masters park is an excellent choice for fun in the sun and sand boarding. My family had a blast and it was had a blast. Prices are great and reasonable. Service is excellent . Was definitely worth checking into if your in the florance area. I would definitely 100% recommend Sand Masters Park and enjoy sun in the fun and the coolest views ever. Definitely on our list if favorite things to do in Florence Oregon.. This is my first time to the dunes and we were just at the sandland adventures and had a time of our lives and went for quick lunch at pizza hut. Boarding was on our to do list and this was the only place I found on google so I decided to try it out. Me and my gf both got a sled instead of the board since it was our first time. The lady working there was very helpful and showed us where to go with directions. She even waxed the board for us. We ended up driving right behind where the have the boarding park with plenty of slopes to board in. We played for about 30 minutes before we realized how strenous it was to walk up and down the sand. It was pretty exhausting but rewarding at the same time. After that we went to our cars and slept for an hour and then on our way home. Great customer service, great time, recommended. read more

Our group had planned this activity as part of our itinerary, excited to explore different ways to enjoy the dunes. Overall, the experience was just okay. The process of renting the boards and sleds was less smooth than expected. Upon arrival, we were informed that only cash was accepted, and we had to walk two blocks to the nearest ATM at Fred Meyer--a significant inconvenience, especially after a long day of travel with tired and restless children. Once on the dunes, the kids lost interest quickly after just a couple of runs and were ready to move on to something more exciting. Given the logistical challenges and overall experience, we're not sure we'd choose to do this again. read more

Friendly and knowledgeable service! Very patient with us as well. Plus there was a large selection of youth boards. Our son is almost four and he had a blast! We definetly love it here! My 13 year old son and 9 year old daughter thought that sandboarding was the highlight of our trip to Oregon. We took advantage of a 30 minute lesson with World Champion Becca and boy, did that pay off. Both kids were flying down the dunes in no time. We did witness other families that didn't do the lessons and their kids were falling left and right while my 9 year old girl did the big hills at Honeyman with ease. The sand in this area is fine and really soft, so every fall was a soft landing. We took advantage of many different dunes during our 2 days of rental (at $16 a day!) and it was so worth it. read more

For the second year in a row, we included a remote sandboarding lesson with Sand Master Park in our 2018 summer Siuslaw Watershed Camp. There was drizzle that morning so the instructors mad a special trip, from the remote site back to their shop, to switch out for wet boards. This was a lot of extra effort and they did it free of charge! The instructors are very friendly, the boards are the only legit sandboards in the area, and the owner is one of the founders of the sport. I fully support these guys and hope they continue to thrive and put this sport on the map here in Oregon. read more

We are a local family and brought our daughter to Sand Master Park as a belated birthday present. Hadn't ever done anything like this before so weren't coming with any prior experience. Holy Crawl we had so much fun (despite the fact we were a couple of goof balls lol)! Gabriel was an amazing instructor; his instructions were very clear both verbal, and visual. He certainly made it look much easier than it was. Gabriel is clearly a seasoned sand boarder. The hour lesson felt more like friends hanging out, laughing, and having an awesome time. The only thing missing was our coordination, but we still had an amazing time, and I definitely see this as a new hobby for myself! I would give 10 stars if I could! ... there we go! I'm overweight, out of shape, nearly 60 years old, and they turned me into a sandboarder! Sand Master Park is ground zero for the international sport of sandboarding. National champion Joey was our instructor (professional, fun, and encouraging) and had us up and in control of our boards within 30 minutes. Then we found a slope in the vast field of sand dunes suitable for our new skill level and had a blast. Granted, I was a bit hesitant to do this, but it was so much fun. I'm going back for sure. The guys at Sand Master Park were so accommodating!!! They normally aren't open Monday through Wednesday this time of year but I emailed them about showing up on a Tuesday morning and they were happy to help! I would recommend this place to anyone.
