Waiting area has regular chairs and lounge chairs where you can sip on mimosa, tea, or some juice. Massage with Ashley was phenomenal. Felt all the teacher stress melt away. This is my favorite place on the central coast to get a massage, and has been for over a decade. Always professional and courteous from walking through the front door all the way through the experience. I find the pricing very reasonable as it includes access to a beautiful out door hot tub, a steam room, showers, and amenities such as single use toothbrushes, combs, etc and even blow dryers and magnifying mirrors. Went for a massage with Jennifer that was absolutely AMAZING !! HiGhly recommend her as a masseuse. If I could rate separately she would get beyond 5 stars . Front desk staff was equally amazing! The only reason I rated 3 is for a luxury spa , they served mimosas in a plastic cup and the actual spa they tell you that you can enjoy, needs a tremendous amount of updates(see pics) it needs a serious cleaning and bars need to be replaced. They are rusted and siting in hot water. No way was I going to sit in that. Kinda ruined my overall experience because I was looking forward to relaxing in the outdoor spa area. Finally, after becoming fully vaccinated and knowing most of the people around me went through the same process, I decided to visit the Sandalwood Spa for the first time in forever and get another 80 minute deep tissue massage from Amber B. It was great. A delay of 15 months due to Covid-19 did not cause Amber to lose her magic touch. However, the reason for this brief update is not to use a bunch of adjectives to describe her skill. I'd visit her just to talk and listen. Amber has a big heart, inquisitive mind and takes a devoted interest in the client on her table. You can rest and relax AND have a great conversation. I was very disappointed in the service at this spa. The massage was great but the reason to go to Sandlewood Spa is that they have a sauna and a hot tub to use as part of your spa experience. The hot tub was a mess. They did not provide sandals/slippers like before. The reason they gave was "it is one more thing they have to sanitize." So does that mean before COVID they were NOT sanitizing the sandals, gross. They served our after massage beverage in a paper coffee cup and a mimosa in a plastic cup. My boyfriend and I came here yesterday for a CBD massage which I was quite intrigued by. We were able to get a couples option. He received the "deep tissue" option, while I got the "tranquility" option. It felt good at first but... Bad: my massage therapist was a bit too harsh on my upper back and neck, pinching and pushing the muscles up and down. We have the option to ask for a light, medium, or deep massage. I asked for medium but it was super painful. I should've said something because today I woke up with sharp pains in my upper back/neck. I felt worse after the massage than before, which isn't a good thing, obviously. Good: loved the hot stones. Relaxing music and calm environment. Also, loved the option of the restrooms, shower, sauna, and hot tub before or after the treatment. And they have comfortable spa robes and sandals. Overall, it was an okay experience. read more

Imagine , being woken up at 8 am on a Sunday 8:05 to be exact. To be reminded that you can enjoy an hour of amenities before and two hours after service. I usually don't enjoy any amenities after a service as it's definitely not recommended after a facial or any skin treatment. So to be told I am allowed to enjoy amenities and check in one hour before my service really made me feel like I wouldn't be able to enjoy my time there. When calling to book an appointment I asked about a mimosa body scrub she said they didn't have that and I asked what the mimosa treatment was and she said it's a body treatment, and didn't offer any information at all so I just said I would look at the menu again and call back. I did and spoke to another woman who explained it great, I then booked the mimosa treatment as desired. I had a bad spa experience elsewhere Friday and after this mornings wake up call filled with requirements, bring own sandals only show up an hour earlier, just made it sound like a not enjoyable day. I definitely don't mind bringing my own sandals, but having my relaxation and enjoyment being timed and limited does not sound like a fun day. So I canceled, couldn't see a reason to rebook as the spa offers nothing special I couldn't get elsewhere. I have it a few stars because the location is clean and pretty looking as I've been in to be skincare products they carry . So as far as decoration and style and product carried they get 2.5 stars and a half a star for the second lady I talked to on the phone. The other two left a bad vibe that seems it would make it hard to enjoy a spa day here. Please don't call people at 8 am on Sunday morning's , you don't even open till 9! read more

Tracy is AMAZING!! Okay so this was my second time getting a facial from Tracy and it wonderful. My first facial from her was more clarifying and she really took the time to help with my acne and use products that best fit my skin type. The second time I went (yesterday) I got the illuminating facial and oh my goodness, my skin looks and feels so soft and bright. Im in love with how it looks. I'll talk about a few pro's: -she will talk with you if you are a talker, but if you're not, she reads that really well and she will just work on your face and let you enjoy the quiet 50-80 minuets. I think that's really important to know especially if this was your first time getting a facial, your specialist should tell you what they are doing and why. But if you have had facials before and you just want to lay there and almost pass out lol she can tell and I think that's amazing. -she is happy to adjust your surroundings. The bed is heated and she asks if you want to adjust it. You have the option of wearing a wrap around towel as well as getting under the sheets. Or you can just get under the sheets as is. I think that's really great to have the option depending on your comfort level. She can also adjust the steam if you are not a fan of having it blow in your face. However!! Your skin opens up more if there's steam involved so if you don't want the steam, don't get mad at anyone if your skin doesn't look as good. -(Almost)painless extractions. Now it's kind of impossible not to have slight discomfort when someone is removing dirt from your pores (squeezing your face) but she does it so gently it was almost totally painless. I asked how long she had been practicing and I believe she said either 12-16 years. Either way, you can definitely tell she's been doing this a long time and she's Very good at what she does. -Her hands are so soft!! Obviously your hands would get soft if you get to apply wonderful products to people all day long, but you can tell she keeps her hands really nice for the customers. Cons: I honestly don't think there is any. Nothing is perfect but going to a spa is so fun it's really difficult to pick out anything bad. Not that I'm trying to, but I want to be as honest and fair as I can. The spa it's self: -Amazing for what it is. This is a five star spa don't get me wrong, but if you start at a place like Tory Pines or Beverly Hills, don't expect the Ritz in little old Nipomo. It's a CLEAN, QUIET, wonderful place. And the staff is SO SWEET!! The men and women at the front desk are lovely and the wonderful staff that run around behind the scenes making sure you have the best experience, are wonderful as well As I told Tracy, any time I get a check with an extra $140 bucks I'm booking an appointment! Haha Last thing: if you made it this far PLEASE TIP YOUR PERSON. I don't care what service you got, you better tip them. 20% is recommended but anything is better than nothing. I decided to treat myself the the 'Just the Two of Us' valentines special they have going on and brought my best friend with me. In the package it stated champagne, chocolates, and roses were included. When you get into the waiting/relaxation room: champagne (sparkling wine) was offered for anyone enjoying the spa and a chocolate was next to your cup (I don't want to say glass because it was plastic, for good reason because I dropped my cup by the hot tub) hahaha. I didn't receive my roses either which was pretty disappointing. On the other hand, the amenities were amazing and my masseuse was incredible. I'm really disappointed I didn't ask for her name again. In the end girls day was a success and I'm so grateful for that! I loved all the staff they were so sweet and welcoming. Reason for three stars: 'I feel like the package hinted towards exclusive items which wasn't the case. This spa is a true hidden gem in the Central Coast. The only thing I knew about Nipomo is Jocko's (love their seasoning btw, I get a container each time I eat there to bring home to L.A.). But lo and behold, upon researching day spas my sister-in-law recommended Sandalwood Spa. It's located in the Trilogy development at the end of Willow Rd. As soon as you enter Trilogy you step into a tranquil, beautifully manicured and curated development of houses, golf course and land. In the middle of it is their marketplace, club house and spa. The spa is fairly small. It's probably geared for the residents even though anyone who can pay and make an appointment is welcome without membership. Our group of 5 girls were accommodated nicely albeit we had to double up on lockers because they only had 10 and they had other guests. We were celebrating a birthday and they set up a nice spread of mimosas, muffins and fruit for us at the lounge while we waited for our services. The other girls said that their massages and facials were fabulous but I can only speak for myself with Amber B. She is magic. I received an 80 minute ageless facial from her and it flew by way too fast. She has a gift of both being a masseuse and an aesthetician. I was relaxed from head to toe and was completely pampered. We are all already planning the next birthday celebration so we can visit Sandalwood Spa again. read more

Sandalwood Spa is drastically overpriced. The massages are hit and miss depending on who you get. The general experiences I've had have been okay. The building inside is very nice with exceptional decour. But, the pseudo enthusiasm some of the staff emit at the front desk is quite nauseating, and comes off as very fake. It ruins a lot for me personally when I can't connect at a real level with whoever I'm investing my time/money with. I would only recommend going if you're rich/retired and don't mind personalities that come off this way. 5/10 rating. read more

Day @ the spa with my best girlfriend! Yay!!! Front desk was very friendly, I was let down that they did not inform us on the phone that you should bring a bathing suit, all the spas I have been to (The Venetian in Las Vegas, Kapalua spa on Maui, The Kabuki in SF) have been clothing optional. Super bummed, I love the hot tub. Spa was very pretty and relaxing, we had water and a very comfy robe to chill in while we waited for our treatments. First treatment: Massage by Deana, was ok. I'd give it a 6 and my friend said a 4. She was super nice and I enjoyed chatting with her. But she never checked in with me and asked "how's the pressure" or anything, I liked her as a person for sure, super cool. But not the best massage. Second treatment: Facial by Tracy Tevis, Sooooo good! My friend and I loved our facials, it was relaxing and she answered all my questions and was a dream. We give her a 10 and would definitely go back to her. Lunch: lunch was ok, I got the vegetable Panini , my friend got the sweet salad with chicken. My bff liked hers, I was a little disappointed to find dairy on mine, it did not say on the menu that cheese was involved, but it was. But I guess I should have asked, most people probably want cheese. Third treatment: Body scrub by Dhwani, This was nice, my second scrub I've received at a spa. Only thing I don't get is, why did they use the in room fancy shower for storage and walk me thru the spa to use the spa shower? I would have preferred the fancy one. The treatment was very nice and relaxing tho. My friend loved, I thought it was nice but I am more of a massage girl myself. If you like scrubs check out Dhwani or Tracy out, both did a great job. We snuck a look around, I am not sure why they did not give us a tour, I think we could probably have used the pool with the water falls outside if we would have brought our swim wear, but maybe not since we are not members.... Over all those are the details, great day with my friend, I feel happy. It was around $700ish so I do feel it could have been a little nicer. read more

They have everything available you can think of, shower caps, showers, makeup mirrors, hairdryers, sauna, hot tub, sitting room with water and snacks. Our package included lunch, mimosa's, a heavenly body scrub, 50 min massage and a foot scrub with pedicure. All of it was exceptional! I had Amber as my therapist and she was the absolute BEST. Even the quality of the massage and essential oils were top notch. I have tried multiple places on the central coast and this one in my opinion is the hands down the BEST. I plan on canceling my monthly membership at another spa and coming to Sandalwood. read more

If you are looking for a local getaway - you have found the place! My husband and I recently visited to celebrate our anniversary, and it was PERFECT. The front desk was very helpful and friendly, and we were escorted to our own lockers which had robes, flip flops and dark chocolate waiting for us! While waiting for our massage, there was a steam room and hot tub to relax in (unfortunately we got there just in time, so we did not have time to enjoy these amenities). From there, we were shown to a lounge which had comfortable chairs with cool water and treats to snack on. The ambiance was very relaxing and zen-like. Once it was time for our massages, we were lead into a room that had glass floors with water running beneath them! So relaxing and beautiful. Our massage therapists were very professional and talented! It was the best relaxation massage I have ever received - what a treat! Afterward my husband went to the bar to get us drinks while I was lead into their nail spa for a manicure. Allison was fabulous! She was very thorough and was in on all the new trends. She was friendly and attentive. They offer shellac at the spa, which I was very happy to find. My nails turned out perfect, and I got to enjoy champagne while getting them done! This spa is gorgeous! The atmosphere is very relaxing and indulgent. The massage services I had were wonderful. The massage therapist was great. She inquired as to the pressure that I prefer and if there were any areas to avoid or on which to concentrate. The services are very expensive, though they are comparable to the industry average. I will be looking forward to going back. Update: I have been routinely visiting this spa with my husband for many years now. I did not appreciate it at the time I wrote my initial review (2014) just how wonderful this spa is, as I had not routinely looked for spa services in the area. The atmosphere in this spa is unique and superior for the area. Now that I have visited others I have a greater appreciation for my favorite. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. They have one room the has beautiful waterfalls but you only walk through it for a second to get to your treatment room. Amber did a fantastic 80 minute therapeutic message. She had some exceptional techniques. It's very reasonably priced so I highly recommend 80 minutes. I have been fortunate to have had many massages at many different spas. She did great work. I planned out a girls trip/birthday surprise out here and in less than a week I was able to book 3 massages and 1 manicure for the birthday girls and myself. Talk about the most luxurious experience ever! I was treated like a queen here. I had a massage, and Amber really listened to my pressure requests and it was one of the best massages I've ever had. Then, not only is the place really well designed (you walk on top of a clear floor that has stones with water running through it below) but I didn't find it to be too stuffy. She was really helpful - I went to go use the steam room after and was unsure about how to work it and she personally helped and even went an extra step and put a light amount of essential oil in it.
