i'd give it 0 stars if i could! maybe we came in on a REALLY bad day, that, or there are some fake reviewers on here employed by the Plaza Cafe. The waitstaff were inexperienced teenagers, and there was one chubby mid-30's lady yelling at them behind the counter...though not helping them WHATSOEVER. This particular day they closed early because they couldn't get their s%^t together. Waited 1/2 hour for our cold food and just couldn't get any extras (coffee refills, enough silverware, extra napkins). terrible service. our whole meal was free (offered by them), yet no apologies offered, just lots of stressed out looks. our worst gallup experience yet! read more

When I first went to this place they were remodeling and we went in for lunch my food was ok no problem there the service was average the interior kinda felt unorganized. The problem was my wife had got her food and before she ate it she found a longggggg black hair in it which immediately made us not want to come back to this place. But other then that i wouldve rated this place a steady three stars. read more

Awesome Huevos rancheros. I got mine scrambled with green Chile sauce. Best green chile I've ever had! My husband got the chicken fried steak. The gravy was great! Pancakes were huge and delicious. My son ordered the biscuits and some bacon. The biscuits were about 4 inches tall, moist, soft, perfect. The waitress says the chef makes then 3 days a week and they go like crazy! Hidden Gem for sure! Get the Green chili cheese and egg breakfast burrito! This place is a little tiny greasy spoon sort of establishment. French toast was recommended and yes, certainly worth ordering - super delicious. My husband had the biscuits and gravy - just so-so. Stopped in yesterday while driving through the area. Was hoping for breakfast but missed it by about 5 minutes. Disappointed that my boyfriend didn't get to try the biscuits and gravy, but he had a nice hamburger with excellent crispy crinkle fries. And, drum roll, please.... thanks to a great suggestion by our server, I got an almost breakfast dish that was DELICIOUS! I was set to order the cheese enchiladas, and she suggested adding eggs to it. So I did. And it was awesome! Three rocking cheese enchiladas with green sauce, pinto beans on the side, and a pile of perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. The corn tortillas were so flavorful and perfect texture. Service was excellent: attentive and friendly without being overly intrusive. Definitely worth a visit. read more

Excellent! The portions are huge! I had a half order of French toast with two eggs and bacon. I eat like I bird, but I almost finished it. My boyfriend had a full order with French toast and eggs and cleaned his plate. Plenty of regulars, too, which is always a good sign. The service was quick and ultra friendly. Sandra's is a small place right on Biz 40. Worth jumping off the freeway. Great service great food. The breakfast burritos with either the green or red chili are amazing. Stopped by for breakfast during a September road trip and was impressed. I had the chorizo breakfast burrito. It was huge and very flavorful. The sauce was delicious, and so was the side of beans. My dad ordered traditional breakfast fare and said it was "pretty good," but he liked my burrito better. We also ordered a handmade tortilla to share. DO NOT MISS OUT ON THE TORTILLA. It was fatter and fluffier than most homemade tortillas I'm used to, and it was amazing smothered in butter (which comes on top). We left very full, and the prices were reasonable. read more

Love it, love it here! They have the best french toast I have ever had in my life. A friend brought a group of us here on a Saturday morning and I split the vegetarian omelet (it has cream cheese in it, yumm) and a half an order of french toast. Oh my goodness, the food was fantastic and I was incredibly full once I left. It takes a little while for the food to get to you, but its only cause they're so busy, but it's totally worth the wait. Yelp did not fail us with these reviews! Plaza Cafe/Sandra's looks very questionable on the outside but inside looks like a diner frequented by locals. Husband had the sausage burrito with green chile and beans. I had their French toast with warm syrup. This was a bit different in that the bread slices were dipped and grilled with pancake batter over the top. Yummy! Both meals very good with good coffee. Restroom was small but clean too. read more

Remember when your mom made French toast for you with white bread? Then remember you became sophisticated and had French toast made from stuff like challah and brioche? Yeah, they're good, but plaza takes you on a blast from the past with white bread French toast that'll leave you begging for more. Seriously, if I were planning another cross country road trip I would plan to pass through Gallup simply to stop in at this place. The French toast is seriously like none you've ever had. They use a crazy amount of batter and I guess they throw it on the griddle so that it splashes all around the white bread. My only complaint is that they serve this amazing French toast with fake syrup instead of real maple. So bring your own maple!! Our coffees were never empty nor were our waters. My wife's burrito was excellent. This place is worth the trip- don't let the exterior scare you, great food and good people here at Plaza. Not to be missed!!!! read more
