Was genuinely surprised to see such a low rating for this café - especially when their prices are rather similar to Starbucks just down the road. I feel that I got a much better quality product for the same price at Sandy's Cafe. You could tell that the croissant was made fresh in-house, and the coffee was very pleasant - much more than I can say about their corporate competitors. To top it all off, the service was superb - smiles all around and served directly to your table (you don't get that kind of personal attention at the green mermaid's coffeehouse) - and the interior really makes you feel like you're having a fresh cup of coffee at home to start your day. I visit Sandy's Cafe every 2-3 months because my Drs are at Westmed. Sandy's Cafe is a place I can go with friends and have a cup of coffee and pastries. Sandy's Cafe is a quiet,comfy , calm cafe; where I can read a book. The service is good, I'm happy with the service, it's not a fast food place or a 3 course meal restaurant. They prepare the food well, so don't rush the staff or it will be sloppy. I enjoy their decorations, it bring back memories when I was a child. They make freshly squeezed OJ , fresh smoothies, carry breakfast sandwiches and healthy wraps. To top it off, they have fresh empanadas daily. . Disappointing. There's not too many choice eateries in Ridge Hill that are quick and cheap, so this looked like a decent enough and quicker option. Next time I'll just pay more and wait or just starve if this is the only option. As mentioned, I was looking for a quick place to eat and run. This looked decent enough to try. The menu choice is small, but it was ok for the moment. I ordered the cheese steak and my companion ordered the Cuban sandwich. The cashier who took my order was blah. We waited for a few minutes and got the order. Both sandwiches were bland. I mean I've had some weaker cheese steaks, but this was the worst - no flavor, bland, and one I immediately regretted ordering upon the first bite. The Cuban was even worse - doused with mustard, under-cooked and just poor. I'm not sure the meat was spoiled or just not cooked correctly. Both being overpriced is an understatement even in Ridge Hill. A food truck would've been a cheaper and tastier option than this garbage. There's limited seating inside and out. Located in Ridge Hill. Not sure if they validate parking or not. All in all, starving is a much better option than spending money in here for sub-par garbage. Really not a necessary part of Ridge Hill. Ridge Hill would STRONGLY benefit from a nice breakfast/coffee shop (besides Starbucks). Sandy's does not fit that bill. Food is mid and unnecessarily expensive. I understand it's RH, but the quality and amount of food doesn't approach the price. I often pass by and wonder when it will be replaced by a Cafe that actually is worth re-enterring. You would be so surprised if you coming to this place for a quick lunch or a cup of coffee. Nowhere marks price for any product they are selling and it's pricy. Empanadas are good most of the time. I did get one where the spinach was spoiled. I spit it out the second I put it in my mouth. They gave me one the next time I came. This time I came I got 2 empanadas(supposed to be one cheese/ham and one chicken), an iced coffee and a smoothie. $30.00!!!!!!!!!! I asked for the dipping sauce and she pointed to the mayo and ketchup packets. I asked if she had sauce for the empanadas. She said they do but it is extra$!!! Really ?!? Should I pay for ketchup I order fries? That's ridiculous. On top of that they gave me the wrong empanadas. They gave me 2 cheese. When I called to let them know she started arguing with me about it. This is a cute little cafe I visit when I'm in the Ridge Hill Mall. It's across from the Apple store. It can be a little expensive than the usual cafe. A juice can run you $6. But it's in a mall. I've just had the chicken sandwich and coffee from here, which was decent. read more

The cafe looks nice from the outside and being that it is located in ridge hill I thought it would be a good place to have something quick before the gym. The food is a bit overpriced but that is understandable because of the location. What I don't understand is why I have flies in my face and on my hat and shirt and pants all while I'm typing this review. That screams that the place is not cleaned thoroughly or often. The fact that it is a cafe which are typically and relatively simple in menu size and accommodations compared to other eateries is scary. Hopefully this review pushes management to consider reinforcing cleaning rituals and getting rid of the flies that come join you for food. read more

I wanted to wait a while before giving my review since I understand that new businesses may have a rough start. But unfortunately, after a few months Sandy's Cafe has never failed to disappoint. The first time I went, I ordered a custom sandwich for almost $9. I watched as a young man pulled pre-sliced deli meat from a folded piece of aluminum foil. Each ingredient of the sandwich seemed to have been stored in zip-lock bags and tubberware containers. For that price, you'd think they'd at least slice your cold cuts in store. Sadly after that, I visited two more times, with the same disappointing results. Either they were out of the item I requested, or their presentation was just unappetizing. I came in here a few times. I was just was in there yesterday I asked for a toasted bagel, and when I opened the bagel it appeared that I got grease wrapped up. As far as their food program- they need to get that under control to make it in that location. Also the prices need to be lowered as well. I went to Sandy's Café and order an empanada and a Coke the cashier swipe my card three times . I asked her can she give me a receipt just to make sure I was only charge once. Then she proceeded to tell me that the charge didn't go through and I had to return the food .....I repeat I had to return the food back to her because my card didn't go through... Crazy !! I know that wasn't true because the transaction went through it asked me to sign my name . When I got home they proceeded to charge me anyway $8.71 with no food..it's just terrible customer service . Wanted to stop in for a quick coffee on my way to work after visiting nearby. Was quiet inside, just one table occupied. The cashier was friendly enough at first but ordering, paying for, and receiving a black coffee clocked in at over 5 minutes. There were three employees visible so my confusion is how in the world a black coffee takes so long you have to actually ask for it to be served? One of the three asked me if I "want that toasted". No queen, please don't toast my coffee. After realizing I was only waiting for coffee, this little helper went off to do something else, leaving the cashier to continue serving people at the register and ultimately then responsible for getting the now illusive untoasted coffee. Felt like the cashier's tone became a little attitudey when I asked her if I could please have my coffee because my ride was waiting for me. She's probably stressed bc of the lack of help. Seems a bit chaotic and disorganized, which is too bad because it's a cute place. It's not yet to the level of asking Gordon Ramsay to come help but someone definitely needs to step up and get some systems in place soon. For what it was - a cold twist beef sandwich - it took over 15 minutes to come out. Slow day too. They did stack it with a lot more meat than I expected. The croissant I ordered was microwaved instead of toasted like Starbucks would do. I would rather walk down a little farther and eat at Wholefoods.
