I work at St. John's Riverside occasionally at a per diem. I've never seen a diner inside of a hospital before. They are always very busy during the weekday day hours. A lot of people call in their orders to pick up but they also deliver food as well. I've had a few misses with my orders but for the most part they're pretty good at what they do. If you wait to order in person, you'll be waiting for a while so it is definitely better to call up your order ahead. I usually call when I'm pulling into the hospital because I know once I park and walk inside, my food should be ready. Make sure you check your order before you leave. One time I ordered a simple toasted English muffin with butter and jelly and I just took it without checking it; they must have had it sitting for a while before they spread the butter on it because the butter was completely cold and not melted. It was gross but luckily my department has a toaster oven in the break room so I just reheated it, but that first bite was disgusting. If you ever have a craving for something sweet, try the sweet cheese empanadas that have at the counter. They're only 4 bucks and they taste great! They're like cheesecake empanadas. I had to stop buying them because it was getting out of hand. They are a full service diner with eat-in amenities, tables and a breakfast counter. They offer everything you could want from a diner for breakfast, lunch and an early supper. They close pretty early so you're not going to get any late dinners here. You'd have to inquire about their weekend hours as I believe they are closed kn Sundays and may only be open a few hours on Saturdays. read more

This is a good cafe for a hospital. The selection is huge, like an extreme amount of items on a menu like a diner. It might be better if they offered less but did a better job on them. They are many ways to have your French fries. And more than ten ways for every item it seems. You are spoiled for choice. But..... They are better for some dishes but not others. They make a nice egg cream actually. Egg dishes with potatoes and toast are better than pancakes. They were dry and absorbed all the syrup. Stick to sandwiches and burgers. Take out gets you faster service. Eat in and you wait a long time because they seem to serve the go orders faster. read more

A great little cafe with awesome staff who get to know their regular customers. The ranchero wrap is delicious and highly recommended - chicken cutlet, avocado, tomato. You can order by phone or online instead of waiting in line, and they'll have your meal ready when you come by and pick it up. Their fries and onion rings are also delicious. Order from Grubhub figured the food was still great from years ago. I ordered the classic chicken panini and 2 desserts, lemon coconut cake & crumb cake. Well the panini bread was soggy on one side which I could have dealt with but I cannot deal with Mold being on my food. I was ready to enjoy the lemon cake when I discovered not only discoloration on the coconut but small flecks of mold. Disgusting and I could not even get a credit back. Never again. read more

For an eating establishment inside a Hospital, Odyssey Cafe separates itself from the hospital cafeteria stereotype. They offer lunch specials that change daily for a great price. Fries came cold, my Ranchero wrap, did not taste like it had fresh avocadoes, and the Onions in it were very old, because it had a bitter taste. Here on business and have had the pleasure of eating at this establishment regularly. On a daily basis I have been greeted with smiles from the staff, good food and quick service. I've had the pleasure of being taken care of by Angel and he consistently makes a stranger feel like a regular on my second visit. I had a physical done st St. Johns Rivetside, 8am Wednesday. Afterwards I needed my morning coffee so I asked for the location of the hospital cafeteria. I was directed "a round the corner" to the right. This space was not typical hospital cafe or grab n go or Au bon Pan ...it was a "old fashion diner" childhood diner style set up. What memories. I sat at the counter and ordered Belgium Waffles and Turkey Sausage and of course coffee. Oh my goodness. First off the coffee was a given, the waffle because I'm very particular about my eggs even though the eggs here came individualized to order. I found this out when a frequent customer (who made me feel right at home) ordered his breakfast a short time later. Anyway I ordered the sausage after witnessing many succulent golden sizzling brown half sausages past me by on plates for others. Sausages it was. My order came and by then I said to my counter buddy. I'm not waiting for you and we laughed. The Belgium waffles were cut in four, sprinkled in confectionary sugar. On top were four halved perfact Turkey sausage halfs... and that's all I remembered before diving in. I thought of saving some for mom(at home), the dog(that takes my bag when I come through the door), my family how they missed out on this treat, I though about my next appointment to get my hands o. This treat again...what a business, more have to experience this...then, I thought, the syrup, silly your half way through, what about the syrup. Back to reality and with my belly full. I learned the owner was there 18-years, one waiter walks to work every day and it's hard work running this place but based on the results and the constant flow of customers they have at least 18 more years. The owner laughed making us all laughed but I know people and her smile, that siniclal laugh was an angel sent from heaven to do a job "beyond" well done. My hats off to all I met that day at that time for breakfast. My counter partner. Your wife is georgios. During this whole exchange the employee never once even apologized for the inconvenience not too mention it's not even great food just subpar bland eggs and potatoes. This place really sucks. They get away with it because hospital employees and visitoes have no other options. I just ordered and there was not ONE customer in there, i asked for extra crispy fries and extra sauce, instead i got soggy a** fries that had probably been sitting there and no damn sauce on my wrap! This iss the third time and the cook muat really suck. I vow to bring my own lunch or only buy packaged goods. Absolute worse customer service. Not only do they get the orders incorrect on a regular basis, they are never apologetic. There mantra "the customer is always wrong" In addition, the food is substandard and not worth the cost. Bottled water is ok. read more

My co worker billy brought me a chicken buffalo avocado brilliant wrap one night. I could not believe my taste buds after that. For 2 hours after I finished it I was thinking about it again. I've had lunch here many times and have never been disappointed. My favorite is the cheeseburger deluxe, but I've had a variety of wraps & salads and everything has always been delicious as well as fresh. They also have a weekly special menu and change it up every week and that's a plus when you're not sure what to order. It does get very busy during lunch so try to grab a seat before the rush starts.
