We only went to this place because it was getting late for lunch and we didn't want a long wait. We were immediately seated, which was great, but the rest was downhill from there. They only serve bottled water (i.e. you have to pay for it); how are they washing their dishes if they don't have running water, hmm? I had to ask for an empty glass and then keep going downstairs to the restroom to get water from the water fountain. What they call a "chicken pesto burrito" is nothing more than a chicken salad wrap, which took 30 MINUTES to make; we ate our lunch faster than it took for the restaurant to make it. And the tortilla chips served on the side are clearly store-bought (good thing we didn't pay $12 for chips and salsa...) Our waiter was MIA for most of the meal; I saw other waiters around, sharing information about specials, etc., but we didn't get that kind of service at all. I would recommend eating anywhere EXCEPT this place. read more

Might a be a good place to drink pitchers of sangria but I was here with my Mom who wanted tapas but we failed to make a reservation at the more famous tapas place. Grapefruit white wine sangria was refreshing and the trio of dips was the most substantial order, though all the dips could use a bit more olive oil in them. This was my favorite only because the warm herbed bread bites were delicious. They charge for water it's the Alkaline bottled version and they do let you know this when you order it. The crab cakes were like one normal sized one split into two. Tasty but nothing to write home about. The spanikopita was spicy and mushy on the inside which was not expected. Chicago has an extensive Greek population and I've never tasted anything remotely like this. And it was just marginally larger than the single version of Costco appetizers that you can buy and bake at home. I cannot recommend it. The side salads on both dishes were good but small. Overall this perch offered views of the many many ppl walking around and a seat in the shade. Service was great considering there was only one server. She was moving as fast as she could and super nice! Overall, was this worth $80, I'll let you decide. For us, it gave mom a view and some tapas and a table for two on a day outing. read more

We are on vacation for the next few days, of course my wife finds this place and just has to go. I will say the selection of Sangria is nice with other wines as well. We got the trio and the bruschetta and they were phenomenal! Andrew was our server and was polite and respectful, didn't do that thing where you're mid bite and they come by. Nice guy and gave great recommendations! Definitely will be one of our for sure stops every time we visit St Augustine for here on out. The atmosphere here is amazing. We sat outside so we could people watch and enjoyed the red sangria. It was delish and worth it for a pitched that gave us each 4 glasses (my bf and I shared). The tapas was pricey but very good. It came out quickly and filled us up. We had the trio of spreads and a side salad. Overall great experience. I love Sangria and had to stop here during my walk in St Augustine. I love that there's a whole place dedicated to that. They have so four red and four white sangrias to choose from and a variety of things on their menu to eat and drink. I stopped here solely for the drinks and they were delicious. This place is located on the second floor and if you sit on the balcony you have a really great view of downtown. The establishment is clean and the staff is really nice. I visited right around Halloween so the staff was dressed up in different costumes and they made the environment fun. There's live music in and around the patio area so this place in general is a lot of fun. Sometimes they'll have a little left over from another pitcher they made and they'll offer it around to see who wants it. We tasted this interesting green apple jolly rancher flavored sangria that wasn't on the menu otherwise. The only downside to this place is that bathrooms are downstairs and around the corner so if you're a little boozy it may be a bit of an adventure getting there. read more

Heard the live music coming from the balcony and I was intrigued. So we ventured in for sangria and apps. At first, we walked into the wrong bar by mistake (right underneath Sangrias). It was a bit hard to find but we finally got the entrance through the courtyard. They should put a sign up directing people this way. We were seated right away on the balcony and greeted with smiles all around from the staff. We got the bruschetta to start and when it arrived I was surprised by the different take on the dish. First of all, it was huge - a nice bang for your buck. The focaccia bread was sliced up and was underneath the tomatoes. It had fantastic flavor, but I wish the bread was toasted so it held better under the juicy tomatoes. It got soggy really quickly. There are 7 sangria options, 4 red and 3 white. After some thinking, and the waitress' recommendations, we decided to go with Reiley's Rojo with the cinnamon apples. The flavor was great, especially the tasty cinnamon apples, but this absolutely wasn't a sangria. It tasted more like an apple martini. Don't get me wrong it was delicious but not authentic sangria. Not sure if the other options are different in that sense. Otherwise, great service and cool balcony. Great for people watching on a sunny day. read more

This is the one place to hang out in St Augustine when it is time to relax, time to people watch, and time to drink. Oh yea! They serve food too! After all, Sangria was truly invented here in St Augustine since those Spanish scoundrels only sent the worst wine, in tar-lined barrels, to the brave conquistadors who crazily settled here. The only possible way to imbibe that swill was to add fruit and spice and bring your strong motivation to drink! Now, we can enjoy great wine, with a wonderful mix of fruit and spice, while sitting on a very comfortable balcony, delighting in fine alcohol-fueled conversation while watching the incredible diversity of tourists and zealots walk by, here at this wonderful establishment in the oldest city in the United States! I get around to some restaurants. I feel like I can effectively judge the quality of almost any kind of place. I had one of the tastiest, most satisfying meals of my life last night. Seared ahi tuna was cooked perfectly. The salad served on the side was delicious. The black bean and sweet potato buffalo fingers were amazing. The salsa, fresh. The sangria was so yummy, and thankfully so. I have high expectations for menu items that are included in the name of the restaurant. And last but not least... dessert. GRILLED. BANANA. SPLIT. Words can't even describe this heavenly creation. As far as the dining experience, our waiter was so friendly, and VERY attentive. He made wonderful recommendations, and even chatted with us about the city. We sat on the balcony overlooking St. George street. It was later in the evening, so it was romantic, and there was pretty awesome music playing the whole time. I had been here a few times before and was pleased with the food so we decided to bring a friend there. First, the food is very good - when they have it. They were out of 3 tapas items, and because I am gluten free my options were severely limited. We were also not permitted to sit 3 at an end table on the porch, so that was disappointing. (We would not have been impeding any movement or posing a safety risk.) The sangrias are delicious, though, and the hostess was very apologetic for all the bad news she was giving us. So I would recommend coming here for drinks rather than food. The sangria was great and the atmosphere was nice. The menu confused me. We went for Spanish tapas, and ended up eating spanakopita and bruschetta. They didn't have traditional Spanish tapas, it was more of a collection of small plates from around the world. They were also pricey! $13 for a single spanakopita when the point of tapas is to get several to share. We ended up only getting two because of the cost. There service was good, but the servers were not wearing masks. Also, the restaurant does not have their own bathroom. You're required to used the public bathroom downstairs. read more

We received Friendly service from the second we walked in. We really wanted one of the outside tables overlooking the street but they were all taken with no sign of one opening up soon. We settled with one of the tables outside on the other side which turned out to be a lot more quiet and peaceful. Something we didn't know we wanted at the time. What a lovely experience! My husband and I decided to visit Sangrias on Halloween night. We were sat on the balcony and were able to watch everyone in costume stroll down the walkways during our meal. My husband & I both decided to try their black bean and sweet potato burrito - and our taste buds danced the meal away! It was delicious. Later we decided to try their grilled banana split and that, too was an excellent menu item. I tried a berry sangria that was recommended. I enjoyed it - and all of the fresh fruit in it. The balcony dining area, the music, the excellent food, and the view created the perfect ambiance - somewhere between romantic and serene. I couldn't have asked for more on this gorgeous evening. The location is great and I enjoyed the music. It can get loud but the service is fantastic! I shared a cheese plate with a friend and the other people couldn't keep their hands off it-we almost ordered another before our meals. The sangrias are good (not the best in the world-I ask for easy ice too so I'm not buying five sips) but it's more like the atmosphere that sells this place for me. There's not a whole lot of room to move around no matter where you sit but it's cozy. It's not cheap but it's very pleasant and right in the heart of town. I enjoy live music and I like sitting outside on the balcony. The people that I'm with preferred to sit outside because other times when we sat inside, they said they did not enjoy the experience as much. Pros: Atmosphere (great porch to sit on if the weather is nice), location (right in the heart of downtown St. Augustine), Sangria, tapas and small plates, servers pool tips so usually there is someone available to you. Cons: the tappas is really pricy for what you get, annoying touristy groups, if you sit on the porch upstairs the trolly comes by and rings its bell VERY loudly about every 2-3 minutes. It's a good place for groups, or to go for a drink or two if you are in the area. I wouldn't travel out of my way for it. read more

I was searching for a place with great tapas for our trip to St Augustine and Sangria's pulled up on my search. The reviews we're positive so we decided to give it a try. We arrived around 1 p.m. on a Saturday and it was not busy at all. At to a band starts playing which was nice. We looked at the menu and noticed that there was not a lot of food variety. We ordered several items off the menu but unfortunately our waitress didn't bother asking us if we wanted the food to be served as soon as it came out. After about 30 minutes or so, when I noticed another big group was starting to get some of their food even though they arrived after we did, I asked the waitress if we were going to be receiving our food anytime soon and she had a bit of an attitude. I asked her if she could bring it out if it was ready and after she went to the kitchen to check, four out of our the seven orders were ready. Right around to it seemed to pick up a lot but they only had 3 waitresses so our waitress barely had the time to check up on us. Aside from the under-par service, the food was pretty good - I wouldn't say spectacular- but it was worth a try. We ordered the Trio of spreads which was Tuscan white bean and roasted garlic, olive tapenade and fresh herb pesto served with a toasted homemade artisan bread. We also had some ceviche, Citrus grilled Gulf Shrimp, bruschetta, the ground Beef & Bean burrito, and the steak medallions. All this was accompanied by a delicious pitcher of red sangria. The food was pretty tasty and the Ambiance was nice, I would have loved to have had the chance to sit on the balcony and overlook the city as I ate lunch but all those balcony seats were already taken. I probably visit this place again but I hope the service is better next time. read more

We went there on a Friday night because we were drawn by the live music; it was a little loud when we were actually inside though and the service was awfully slow. I guess we didn't mind as much because we weren't really too hungry. We were originally just going for sangria but we also tried the caprese salad which was pretty good but the portions are small. Sangria's is right in middle of the touristy area; "Historic St. Augustine". We stopped in to try the different Sangria options. The staff was incredible Nice and very knowledgable. I generally prefer a pretty dry wine. Reds preferably, where my boyfriend prefers a sweet white wine. They let us try everything that we were curious about and made suggestions based on our tastes. We wanted to get a pitcher, but with our taste being on opposite sides of the spectrum, I felt sure this was not actually going to be an option. I can't remember the name of it but it was 75% dry and 25% sweet that we both agreed on... And it was delicious! We also tried the bruschetta and the sushi grade tuna... We have been coming to St. Augustine and Sangrias since we moved down to Orange Park, FL about 14 years ago. Sangrias has never disappointed on date night. The Sangria is amazing. We've probably had every kind over the years. Go early and find a table on the deck, because there aren't many, (maybe 7-8? And I think all 2 tops), and that's where all the fun people watching is at! That's what makes Sangrias for us! We didn't have any tapas this last time but have before, and they've been tasty as well. This is such a great hidden spot, and we're so glad we found it when we did. It is truly a perfect spot to people watch. It's always a must for us when we go to St. Augustine without the kids. The piano bar is a great place to relax in too, and the servers have always been attentive and super nice to us. We'll continue going there for years to come. read more
