I was craving some teriyaki chicken before I went to work and remembered this place existed and haven't been in years. So I ordered the teriyaki chicken bowl and a side of California rolls. To be honest, I didn't really like it and the rolls were the same quality as the one that you get at Ralph's. The person that was helping me order was incredibly friendly and helpful. The inside the restaurant was an open seating area with plenty of places to sit and enjoy. I am sure there are other things on the menu that taste amazing, but for my order today it did not satisfy my craving for teriyaki chicken read more

Came to SanSai for lunch because we were in the area. Carlos, who was so kind and helpful, took our order. He went above and beyond to make sure we got everything we need. The food was delicious too! We enjoyed their Dragon Roll and Baked Salmon, which were bigger than we thought! Some sushi places as of late have been making their rolls smaller than usual. So I really appreciate SanSai for not changing that. We also got the shrimp and steak which comes with rice and two sides. Very flavorful and delicious. I def recommend this spot! read more

Located next to Applebee's at the old Pacific Theater parking lot. I don't eat here too often but my mom has been getting the salmon plate here lately for my dad and I which is pretty good. A little dry and really need to drench teriyaki sauce on it or something. Food comes out pretty quick so maybe they just aren't quality checking it? Idk. Decided to try something different by getting the Las Vegas Roll which is a tempura roll with avocado, cream cheese, and salmon. Sounds great! It was not flavored at all. Tempura was a bit soggy, could've used more sauce rather than just a drizzle on top. Idk what was up with it but it was not great. Definitely sticking to their rice plates and avoiding their sushi. I've literally been coming here since I was a kid, maybe 2008/2009, and it's crazy that the food still has the same consistent quality. I always order the chicken breast plate with oriental salad and the linguini or bowtie pasta, and it's always tasty. Service is pretty good; I can't recall ever having an issue with the staff or my order being wrong. The space is always clean when I visit to pick up or dine in. I think the only negative is that their sushi prices is more expensive than you'd think. I usually get the tiger or dragon roll, and it's like $18 for 10 pieces. The presentation is nice, and the taste is just fine, but you don't really expect those prices for a fast-casual restaurant. Only other comment is they definitely changed the pot sticker recipe :( The one they have now has way more of a ginger taste; the old one was so much better. If you want a healthy meal, definitely come to Sansai! read more

I used to come here all the time and had not been in a while. I decided to come here and meet up with a friend. Let's start with the pros. The fish was pretty good, the miso soup was delicious and the pasta salad was good. There was no line so we ordered fast and got our food pretty fast. There are plenty of tables to eat at as well as a soda fountain for drinks. Now the cons. When I was ordering I asked for yellowtail (which was on the menu) to be told they no longer have yellowtail. No big deal but take it off the menu. Then I ordered a salmon skin hand roll and instead got a tempura hand roll. I had already touched the hand roll when I noticed so I ate it but it wasn't great. I wish they had better descriptions of their items they offer and the salad/pasta section you pick from looked sad. I'm not sure I'll be back anytime soon as my experience wasn't great but the food is good. There is also a big parking lot which makes it a plus! read more

I've been here a few times. I usually get the sushi and roll combo. One time I got the udon noodle soup. Both meals were delicious. Customer service was great. The restaurant is nicely decorated. The few times I've went, it wasn't too crowded. I would definitely return to this location. :) read more

Look at this Washington roll they gave me. Drove 25 minutes to pick this up. They would not refund me unless I returned it...only to throw it away. I'm not going to drive all the way back with kids at home. My wife didn't even eat the rolls because the salmon wasn't fresh and looked terrible. read more

The owners and staff at this restaurant are the sweetest people. They always greet people with a smile and a good attitude. The food is very good, and reasonably priced. I've been coming here regularly for a number of years and have gotten a variety of items, from various sushi rolls, udon soup and tempura, to teriyaki plates and various salads. I've enjoyed everything that I've had. The location is very convenient, easy to find and visible from the street. There is plenty of seating available, both inside and outside, and no shortage of parking out front. They keep everything very clean. This restaurant has great food and very reasonable pricing. The grilled beef teriyaki was fabulous and kale salad was very good. You can tell that the food was freshly made as opposed to other places that offer quick Japanese food. We were both very happy with the service and cleanliness of the tables and floors. So many restaurants miss cleaning chairs and floors and you end up stepping in someone else's food. All around a very good experience. The best inexpensive fast Japanese food in California. Enjoyed the teriyaki chicken with sumi salad and white rice. The sumi salad is very similar to cole slaw without the mayonnaise. Cost of my plate was $7.49. Sansai also serves teriyaki shrimp, steak and salmon as well as tempura. The shrimp and steak are also very delicious. Combination of these are likewise available. I used to come here all the time with my mom. It was a tradition we used to have a couple years ago and hadn't been since so I decided to give it another go to be nostalgic. Sad to say this food quality and the service has really gone downhill. In the past I would get the chicken teriyaki bowls but this time around I got the 10 piece California Roll. It just wasn't fantastic in my opinion. It wasn't the type of taste I normally like. If I come back, I'm definitely going back to my old school order. This location shares a parking lot with Applebees, Subway, and the habit. They have a lot of indoor dining tables which was nice. You can add a soda to your order for $2.50 and use the soda fountain. read more

Lately there have been two things that made me feel like altering this review. 1st, there is still no option for a side of pan fried noodle or any other noodle that is not part of a salad. However, I have learned that I can order a veggie skewer with my steak bowl. I love grilled onions and pepers. I usually ask for them to leave the zuccini off but thats just a personal thing. I finally feel like I am getting my moneys worth from my meal. ( i used to just ask for more rice or just get the salad and throw it out. 2nd, I went to the crappy San Sai location down the street on Ventura and Winnetka. Sansai offers a healthy alternative to fast food. We go here regularly before we catch a movie or when we are too tired to cook. The menu items are typical "Japanese grill" Americanized items, such as chicken or beef teriyaki, skewered grilled shrimp and salmon filet. The combos come with choice of two salad sides. The salads are fresh and tasty, albeit with too much dressing for my taste. You also may order brown rice instead of white, and they sell cold unsweetened green tea. First time I went to Sansai was in Tarzana. The staff was very nice but the place looked outdated and the food was so so. This time I took my girls to the one in Chatsworth. What a difference! Staff is just ok but the place is newer and seems way cleaner. My girls ordered the Salmon Teriyaki and avocado rolls. I had the chicken breast with salads and California roll. If it wasn't for the lazy, zero personality staff (young, short, heavy girl with glasses) I'd give it 5 stars. The owner is super nice and generous. I'm not sure if he's aware of how rude and unprofessional his employees are. I used to go there 1-2 times/week and spend an awful lot of money. Woo this place is rockin for a healthy low cost lunch spot. It is difficult to find a restaurant that serves better for you options in Chatsworth. I usually eat the salmon plate with brown rice and a salad. They offer green tea and miso soup. Some times I have to wait a bit longer to get the brown rice instead of white, but its worth it to me. If the prices were any cheaper I think the quality and cleanliness would not be as good. read more

To show you how much I like this place, I'd drive all the way from County just for one of their bowls. Well, maybe not quite that far--but you get the idea. I definitely make a point of stopping here whenever I'm in the area. It's located in the Galleria Food Court and may not look like much, but don't be fooled by appearances. It's run by what I believe is a husband-and-wife team, and they're both fantastic. My go-to is the 3-protein bowl with a base of half brown rice and half spring mix, topped with cucumbers, onions, soybeans, green onions, crab, spicy tuna, tuna (or albacore), salmon, asagi, furikake, crispy onions, and medium-spicy mayo.

It is located inside the Galleria Market where the rest of the food court is. I got the 3 protein-tuna, spicy tuna and salmon. Good size and filling and tasted fresh. Plus he didn't pound a bunch of rice like some other spots do. The food court was clean and inviting. I'll come back here for poke next time because like I said, it's hard to find a spot that is consistent but I don't think this place will disappoint.
