Tori-san ramen + gyudon bowl combo
    Matthew H.

My friend suggested this new-ish ramen place in the area, so we dropped by for a recent weekday lunch. It's a bit further away from Court Sq area with more bustle, and there was also a bit of construction going on in the area, but not too much of a walk regardless. We came by around 1pm and at that time there was only one other occupied table. You order via the QR code on the table and pay directly (i.e. when submitting your order), and our food was brought to us shortly after. (And no tipping!) We both ordered the ramen and rice bowl lunch combo. I picked the ('normal') tori-san ramen with chashu, with the side of the gyudon rice bowl. The ramen was very good! I liked that the noodles were cooked very well - chewy but not too hard - and the chicken broth was very fragrant and savoury (a little bit too salty, though). The chashu was generally tender and juicy but there were a few bites that felt overcooked/hard to chew. I also really liked the gyudon - the beef was delicious, and the light sauce with the rice paired pretty well with the heavier flavours of the ramen broth. Price point was not bad; a little on the high side, but not that bad when you consider that the tip is included. The portion size was filling, quality was generally good, and service was very fast (otherwise nonexistent, but intentionally so, which I appreciate). Also, can I just say again how much I appreciate not having to tip? Like, yes I get that the food prices are higher - but that's literally the point. Having to add another layer of random social complexity to dining out (especially as those suggested tip amounts seem to be skyrocketing) can be exhausting in aggregate, and it's just a nice touch that left me with an even better impression from Sansan.

The soup level spicy like 6.5/10. The egg was cold. vegetables are cold. Noodles were average. Literally 3 tables. 4/10.

Food was quite bad. Veggies were cold and literally 3 tables for sitting. The overall exp was soggy and flavors were obviously bulk prepared and frozen. Then heated for serving.

Came with my boyfriend on a weekday night. We were greeted with a lady on zoom once we entered the restaurant, which was a bit odd. The restaurant was pretty empty with only a few tables occupied. I ordered the yaki curry with karaage and shrimp while my boyfriend ordered the red mountain ramen. The ramen was okay. As seen in the picture, the egg was a hard boiled egg, which was not what we expected from ramen. It was also not marinated. As for the yaki curry rice, I would not recommend it at all. The whole dish was pretty flavorless and there was barely any curry flavor. The coating on the fried shrimp was way too thick and there were chunks of fried dough in the rice. The fried shrimp and the chicken also got very soggy since it was baked underneath the curry and cheese. Having them separated or on top of everything would've been much nicer. The price for the food was pretty reasonable considering how expensive everything has gotten. May come back for the ramen in the future if we are in the area but will definitely not get the curry rice again.

The food was 10 out of 10. This place is reallly nice inside and clean! Service was OK but the food was definitely worth it. The broth of our Ramen was flavorful and just the right amount of heat. I would definitely go back. We definitely found our Ramen spot in Long Island city!

Ramen lovers, rejoice! sansan ramen is the latest hotspot in LIC, and it's a flavor -packed haven! The interior is all modern and spacious, setting the stage for a cozy meal. What's super cool? You get to pick your own meat and add on. And the broth is a perfect mix of flavors. The noodles? Spot on! Plus sushi enthusiasts, they got you covered! If you are in the neighborhood, swing by and check it out. Featuring : * chicken gyoza * Takoyaki balls * Ebi mayo * Black mountain belly chasu * Red mountain mushroom * Yaki curry with karage and shrimp * Ice Thai tea & green tea

Trying out a new ramen spot in Long Island City! It's interesting to see that all their ramen names are inspired by a Chinese poet Li Bai (李白). The interior is modern and spacious, which made us skeptical of the authenticity of its food at first but it didn't disappoint! Also shout out to their extremely clean and spacious restroom. * Original Butan-San 豚山 * Chicken Mountain "Tori-San" 雞山 Their signature Original ramen had a thicker Tonkotsu based broth, while the Chicken ramen was soaked in a clean and flavourful shoyu chicken broth. I took the Chicken mountain, which was neither oily nor salty. It will get a bit bland and lack the excitement after the first few slurps if you are more into rich broth. The special thing is that you can customize your choice of meat: belly chashu, hock ham chashu, chicken or mushroom. Both of us ordered belly chashu -- We got 2 slices each bowl. The belly pork was perfectly grilled with a smoky flavor. I would love it even more if the egg was marinated instead of soft-boiled. I will recommend this spot if you are around that area. * Chicken Karaage A great appetizer to serve alongside your ramen. The chicken was tender, juicy and well marinated in a crispy shell. It had a thin layer of spicy mayo spread at the bottom to add extra depth of flavors to your karaage.

Got the aka san ramen - delicious broth. Do think the noodles and other ingredients were a bit average, but it did hit the spot for a ramen craving. Also got the kaarage - delicious and well done. Some chicken were a bit salty, but paired with the tomatoes and sauce definitely made it good. Fun little thing: They give you Albanese gummy bears when you get the check!

I've tried many ramen spots, both locally and globally, so I had high expectations for Sansan Ramen. The ramen itself was decent, but unfortunately, the service was disappointing. There was no one at the front to assist, and it was difficult to get attention from the staff, who seemed to be in the kitchen the whole time. We didn't even receive water service. It was also strange that the self-checkout screen asked for a tip when bringing us our food didn't seem to warrant one, especially since we had already paid for the dish. I visited during a quiet time and appreciated the painted art on the walls. I was told they're still using a soft-open menu and they've been operating next door for a year before moving over. Unfortunately, the service still needs improvement. To make matters worse, the AI assistant told me to ask staff about the bathroom code instead of just providing it. When I finally got attention, I found that the bathroom had water spilling out, and I was asked to wait, assuming it would be cleaned and usable soon. Overall, I won't return, as there are so many new spots popping up in the area, and this one doesn't offer enough to stand out. If others have never seen an AI machine, they might get a kick out of it, but that's about the only unique thing here.

Spicy tantanmen and Karaage Fried Chicken. Sad sad.

The owner reached out to remedy the poor experience-- highly appreciated! Upping by 1 star for the offer. Always appreciate good customer service.

Amazing spot for a casual meal. The service is great, food came out pretty fast. I came with my friend and we both got to spin the wheel. I won a glass of white wine and he won a BOWL OF RAMEN. Awesome! Great value, good broth, good food, would definitely come back again.

    - This was a hard one choosing between 3 and 4, I would say it leans more towards 4 but not quite a 4 - You don't have to tip here! - Portions are quite large, for appetizers, the portions are 25% more - They were quite generous with the meat portions for the ramen - The sushi was mediocre, for the price, you can get better sushi elsewhere. But then again, no tip - The water had a weird bitter after-taste - I do appreciate their use of technology here and efforts to keep the cost of food low!

Cute ramen spot in LIC that opened fairly recently. Good happy hour prices for drinks if you come between 4PM and 7PM and good variety of options to order from. We had the dried ramen (mazeman) and crispy ramen. It was super cute when it came out (see photo below of the flying chopsticks). The crispy ramen was a bit bland for me (which was perfect because I tend to eat on the blander side). My fiancée got the mazeman which was a bit more salty and flavorful. Both were rated a 6.5/10. The prices were pretty on par with LIC pricing - most bowls are around $15 and higher. For service there was only one waiter which is probably due to it being a Sunday afternoon/evening but food still came out pretty quickly. Overall we'd rate this place a 3/5 for the pricing of the okay food but we would be back for the drinks! Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Price: 2/5

    1. Our ramen were delicious. We were very surprise about it! My 9 year old son who does not eat any broth or soup, LOVED YUZU MOUNTAIN RAMEN!! 2. Very clean and nice place.
