I am a sushi lover. It is my absolute favorite food while I will not say this place is the best as far as flavor or quality all around it is by far the best all-you-can-eat deal that I can find with decent quality fish. You simply cannot find a place that is under $30 anymore with all you can eat lunch. I went on the weekend which is dinner only and cost 38 per person. The service was good because they cleared our dishes right away, but I was a little bit confused in the beginning because no one explained how to use the menu and ordering system. I tried salmon, white tuna, red clam king Salmon octopus, as well as their special roll bumblebee. The special roll was good but very heavy and filling. Out of all the fish I liked the salmon the most the cuts of sashimi were very thick and large, and the flavor was fresh and creamy which overall made the entire meal worth it for me. I would not recommend the octopus or other fish, but I did like the clam and ordered it a few times I would've liked to try the other special rolls, but just felt they would've been too filling for me. If you leave a review, they give you a free Thai tea. I was surprised because it was massive when I received it, but I can tell they use powder and I did not particularly like the taste. One thing that I did like with this place compare compared to Akino is that desserts are included in the all you can eat menu. Their desserts included orange slices two different types of cake, three flavors of ice cream and one or two other Chinese desserts. Overall, I would come back again because of the value for your money, but if you're craving a really great sushi experience, there are definitely other better options around. My daughter brought me here for a Mom/Daughter dinner. We went with the AYCE option. Food was tasty. There wasn't anything I didn't like. Their spicy Kani salad was solid. The rolls were good. Exactly what you'd expect from an AYCE place. Their glutinous rice cake for dessert is fabulous. That brown sugar mollasses-y type flavor is delicious and satisfies the sweet tooth. Service was on point. Everything came quick without any hiccups. If you're expecting excellence all around, I don't think you'll find the experience at Tokya Ya to your standards. Again. By far best AYCE in all of Queens. Price is similar to all others at Max weekend price of $34.99 per person however you're not limited to just sushi but instead sashimi in all cuts. Also included are all the kitchen appetizers, noodles, fried rice, niche items, and dessert. Restaurant is not too big and it does get crowded during peak hours but that's also a sign of great food and great service. I would rate 6 stars if I could! This checks off everything I want in an AYCE sushi experience and more. I am so impressed by the rice to filling ratio. It literally is one grain of rice between the filing and wrapper. The ratio is still insane even on rolls where fish is on top. I went in there to try their all you can eat sushi and I left with discomfort, food poisoning, and overall not a great time. The rice was too sweet since Japanese sushi rice has a slight sweetness but this was way too much. The fish had an odd aftertaste which worried me and could explain the over sweetness on the rice. And I felt like I was eating more rice than fish because the rice was so compacted that I kept chewing on rice. Also there were flies and insect flying near our table which I had to keep an eye to swat away from the food. I made the error of over ordering thinking it was one batch that wasn't good but each time we ordered it went from bad to worse. The server explaining how to order from their menu/QR code through an app on our phones was very confusing. I would have just filled out a paper about how many pieces we wanted and if we wish to continue to fill out a new paper. There is paid and residential street parking. I did not have trouble finding a spot on a Sunday afternoon. Inside is colorfully decorated with lots of tables spaced out, as well as counter seating. It was basically empty when I first came in, but got crowded by the time I left. I came for the AYCE. You marked down what you want on a sheet of paper. Service was attentive and friendly. They came by to clear plates and refill waters, and I didn't have to try to catch their attention whenever I needed something. What I got: - Kani Salad: had avocado on top! Lightly dressed. - Salmon Dragon Ball: the furikake adds a nice texture and flavor - Yellowtail Carpaccio: the yellowtail was well balanced with the spice from the jalapeno and the citrusy yuzu sauce - Tako Wasabi: fresh with a good amount of wasabi (not sinus clearing but can feel the kick). Small portion, which I appreciate, because you can always order more - Ika Geso Karaage: similarly small portion. Was hot and fresh out the fryer, and nicely salted. - Spicy Salmon Roll: not too spicy. The rice was on the sweet side, which overpowered any spiciness the roll had. - Variety of Sashimi and Sushi: similarly, the rice was on the sweet side. Some were less sweet than others though, so a bit inconsistent depending on the batch. I definitely preferred the sashimi because of the rice. The quality is decent. For $30 dinner, the AYCE deal is pretty worth it. Not sure if they'll keep it at this rate but I think it's worth it to try it now. My family and I have been longtime fans of Akino over in Elmhurst but we decided to give Tokyo Ya a try after I heard about their incredible lunch/dinner deals ($20/30 respectively) on TikTok. Just a note, on our most recent visit last Friday, we were notified that it was the last day for the deal and that prices would be raised an additional $5 (which still makes the meal relatively affordable for an AYCE sushi joint). With the new price change, they also added some new things to the menu including sushi donuts, onigiris, and new rolls. The space is small, but the turnover is high, which means the fish is always fresh. I really liked that you order through a QR code-- it streamlines the process and we were able to get our food within 10-15 min of ordering during prime dining hours on a busy Friday night. I really enjoyed the raw ebi, which was incredibly sweet and not something you find often on the menus. I will note, however, that we ordered white tuna sashimi and was given something I'm assuming was seared albacore instead of escolar, which I was expecting due to pictures on the menu. As for rolls, I enjoyed the volcano roll and the Tokyo Ya roll the best. I did find that the rice was a little hard, but was otherwise pleasantly surprised with the quality. I came by at 2:30 on a wednesday and there was a 5 min wait and place was packed until 4:30 which was closing time. First impressions weren't great as the AUCE menu seemed a lot more limited than it used to be a few weeks ago before the spot blew up. Additionally, there were only 2 waitresses and they seemed terribly overwhelmed for the number of customers they were seeving. However, when the sushi came I was honestly surprised that the quality of fish was decent and I was very happy with the salmon sashimi. Been here 3 times. For ayce and regular dinner. I was hoping that it was just a bad day the first time, but it's been consistently subpar. Their tofu teriyaki comes on a bed of onions, it looks like something Shrek would make honestly. The taste is bland yet overpowered by onions. Their fried rice tastes bland. Sushi looks poorly made and fish is not fresh. We tried salmon and tuna and veggie rolls. Spring rolls taste like used oil. Even edamame was overcooked. Plus the staff do not pay attention to customers, wont refill water or soy sauce even when we ask nicely. Also not a fan of the takeout menus. Also only one bathroom so there is always a line. I'm not even sure why this place is receiving such poor review because quite honestly I had a great time dining here. Their food is priced fairly and their selection is abundance and quality is decent. Came here on a weekend so keep in mind it's dinner price but that's okay because most AYCE places follow this rule anyway and beside, I get more selections anyway since I'm ordering from the dinner menu. We didn't have a reservation but since the restaurant was not filled, they seated us immediately and did warn us that the time is limited to 1.5 hours. Cool. I ordered a good amount of sashimi and other yummy items and I have to say what still stood out to me are their fried shumai. OMGGGGGG.....just thinking about it is still making me salivate. They were like big plump yummy ball of bouncy shrimpy goodness. As for service, it was wonderful. Our server was friendly and always smiled which made us smile too. I've actually been here before when it was a regular sushi restaurant but I guess they rebranded and changed to an AYCE. When we got here, we put our name and phone number down. We were told that the wait would be an hour but we were actually seated within ~15 minutes. It's fairly tight inside so it's definitely not great for larger groups (I'd recommend to stay within a group of 4 or less). Although the price was great, the service wasn't the best but I can tell it was cause they were just so busy trying to attend to everyone's orders. We put in our first order and it definitely took a while for things to come out. After seeings how slow it took for our food to come, we decided to put in our second sheet. They definitely didn't give us some of the things we ordered and the quantity for the sashimi that we put in were definitely off. We'd put in like 15 pieces and get 5. There were about 3 waitresses serving everyone but it was pretty hard to track one down since they were constantly running around. When we were putting in our third order, the waitress said it would be our last one so we asked her to make sure that the quantity would be accurate since it wasn't accurate with the first 2 orders and we were still missing items. She told the sushi chefs and although our quantity was accurate for the third round, the sashimi slices were definitely thinner. By that point, we were already stuffed so we didn't even care that they still didn't bring all the other missed items from our order. Although the service wasn't the best, the appetizers, cooked foods, and sushi were not bad. I usually don't have high expectations for AYCE sushi quality but it was decently fresh. They also had ebi (raw sweet shrimp) and although it was very small, it still isn't something I've seen on other AYCE sushi menus before so that was a pro to this place. Honestly, I would still recommend this place for AYCE sushi despite the lack in service. And yes, they might not have given everything that we marked down but it's AYCE anyway so we just marked it again on the next sheet. The main thing that detracted from my experience here was the waiting. We arrived and were told we could be sat soon so we waited outside. Twenty minutes later we are told there's a table so we came back in and then they said they needed to find one more seat despite already knowing our party size (we called ahead of time). They said soon and we asked how long - they said 20 minutes so we decided to get a quick drink across the street. Fourty minutes later they call and say a table is almost ready so we come back. We wait at the entrance for 20 more minutes before a table is finally available. I think they should reconsider the meaning of "soon" because it took about two hours in total from when we had the original "you can be sat soon" to when we were actually sat. Aside from that the food was pretty good - it's technically an all you can eat though you have to order everything by phone and the wait time for dishes is a little variable (up to 30 min for some dishes). On a 90 minute time limit there's enough time for maybe two orders. The space is relatively small but it's popular and we had a good time because we were with great friends. Overall I might consider going back, but the frustration of getting in was a little much. We aren't the type to make a big deal aside from clarifying timing a couple times just to make sure we knew what to expect wait-wise. read more

A confirmation of what you ordered would've helped eliminate a lot of confusion on what was ordered. Staff should be more attentive on making sure patron had adequate drinks such as water and hot tea.
