I came here for an early dinner with my brother and sister on Friday night. We easily were able to get a table and our order was taken quickly. For an appetizer we had their takoyaki. I loved that the inside was full of chunks of octopus. I ordered their miso ramen as my entree and I really enjoyed everything about it. The broth was very tasty, the noodles were cooked perfectly; next time I would just ordered extra meat since it only comes with 2 slices. It was such a big bowl I had to take some home. I tried their moshi Fuji apple sparking water and thought it was very refreshing. Our server was very attentive and friendly. This placed is too good! I strayed from the beaten path and ordered basically everything aside from their ramen this time around and was pleasantly surprised - I got their spicy pork donburi, some takoyaki, gyoza and onigiri. The spicy pork Doburi was the star of the show with this pleasantly crunchy & spicy chili oil layered over it. I have ordered takeout here before but this was my first time doing dine-in for dinner with my boyfriend. It's a very intimate setting with cool Japanese lanterns and lighting above head. Would not recommend for large groups but for 2-4 people would be great since it's a quiet and low key setting. No reservation needed at dinnertime Friday night but it was almost full when we walked in, no wait. We ordered the signature Tamashii ramen, unagi don and the okonomiyaki. Everything was delicious! Broth was flavorful. Portion sizes were good and the service was very quick. They also kept refilling my water frequently. I've tried almost every ramen on the menu here at this point, but the one I get most often has to be the Chasyu ramen, which is their signature ramen but with additional slices of pork piled in there. Whenever I order takeout from here I'm shocked not only at how fast it arrives, but always appreciate the way they pack the noodles separately from the broth so that it doesn't get all soggy and soak everything up. The few times I've dined in rather than ordered have been pleasant as well. It's a no frills counter with a few seats. Since visiting NY, this is the ONLY restaurant we've gone to twice. We loved it the first time and it was even better the second time. The food is outstanding. The woman who works there, I'm guessing she's the owner is so nice. Upon entering, you're immediately seated and given enough time to look through the extensive menu. We never felt rushed, but the food comes out super quick. The restaurant is small, but doesn't feel cramped. The bathrooms are clean and cutely decorated. Very quick service I do highly enjoy here. The ambiance is very nice as well, many pictures of the food menu items hanging on the walls. Surprisingly, I was shocked by the overwhelming menu. Usually ramen restaurants I tend to go to only have so many items, so that's a plus. However, I only rated a 3 due to the food. It was very delicious however I feel that it lacked flavor. I've ordered carry out from this place about 15 times. Always the same very specific order: Veggie champon, no shrimp, less salty, less spicy. The order has been wrong three times. 1 time they added shrimp, 2 times they made it very spicy. I ignored it one time and reported it on two occassions. The mistake is not so much the problem as is their reaction to being informed of it. They tend to aggressively deny having made any mistake. The first time I had to send them photographs of shrimp in the dish despite the fact that I was going to return the dish anyway and was not even asking for a refund (I only alerted them because allergies can make this mistake dangerous). Most recently, when I called to inform them about the spice error, the hostess claimed that it is impossible to make the dish less spicy and it has never been made that way. When I informed her that I've had the dish prepared 12 times not spicy, she insisted this never happened and put the chef on the line. The chef proceeded to claim that they've never prepared the dish less spicy. Eventually I just asked "Why are you lying to me, man? I don't mind paying for the replacement" At which point there was a silence and he offered to remake the dish less spicy. I thanked him for that and told him I would stop by shortly. I stopped by and returned the incorrect order. At this point the hostess asked repeatedly if I had put the spices in the dish myself. I told them to keep the money, the tip, and the returned order but not to prepare a replacement. I explained that the mistake is not a big deal but the lies are. I have to be able to trust the person preparing my food and this bizarre gaslighting strategy is a bridge too far. Won't be back. Food 4 stars Customer Service 1 star Advice: 1- If ordering carry out check the food before you leave the restaurant. No amount of repetition on the phone will prevent an error. 2 - Paying in cash in person is discounted. I usually give it back as part of the tip but it still feels good to cut out the labor exploitative apps and credit card servicers. read more

With such raving reviews I knew this was another ramen spot I had to try. I've been trying to find a time to try out this place for a while now! I ordered a Tamashi Ramen to go, and the menu device at the door was very easy to use - please note only card at the machine! The Tamashi Ramen was great! You can choose what kind of noodles you want (soft, firm), so I picked soft. If you've had Kyuramen, these noodles feel slightly more firm than those, not the softest. You can customize your toppings as well if you prefer but I stuck with the original - some pork, half an egg, seaweed, scallion. Portion size is ok, not the most full afterwards but alright. They bundle up your ramen and soup really well in the take out bag, and it was very hot and nothing spilled when I opened it back at home! Nice job for packaging! The Katsu did arrive very soggy which was disappointing. If you're ordering anything Katsu ask for sauce on the side. That was my mistake for not adding it in the notes. It was still delicious and enjoyable. The Bao was out of this world delicious. The pork was tender, juicy and the bun was so soft and sweet. By far my favorite. Came here with a group of 6 on a random Tuesday night and didn't have to wait for a table at all. Our group ordered a variety of ramen including okinomiyaki, raw squid, and cold noods. I recommend everything just because the broth is SO rich and even the raw squid and okinomiyaki were super crunchy and fresh. My friends actually ordered extra noodles after finishing their first serving because there was so much broth left and no regrets at all! I ordered the fish katsu and it came with two large fillets, vegetables and rice. It was the perfect portion, not too much, not too little. They also gave me three sauces on the side and I was so happy about that. I love my sauces and many restaurants skimp out on sauce!!! We randomly decided to dine at Tamashii Ramen not knowing about the great reviews, but after eating here, I'm confirming that they're right y'all When you enter, there is a kiosk to order from if you're doing take-out. Inside, there is a good amount of seating. There aren't many tables for big groups, but I imagine they can pull the small tables together if needed. They also do a good job at maintaing a good indoor temperature in this cold, cold weather. I took off my jacket and did not feel any draft whatsoever. There's a staircase in the back, but unsure if they have a second floor. The ambiance is also very nice, the inside is covered in anime action figures, very cute. Inside it's not too loud, there's some chatter in the background, but you can have a good conversation. Their music choice is also nice The service is also great, the server would frequently check-in and was very accommodating Prices are also very affordable, and they also have lunch specials. Great for students! Finally, onto the food. We were super hungry when we went in and left pretty satisfied. I got the Kara Miso ramen and it was nice overall, even without additional toppings. I wish they would have used bigger pieces of octopus given the size of the balls. My friend and I both ordered the miso ramen as our main dish. Warning to those who order this but our broth came out EXTREMELY HOT! We had to wait a few minutes before we could enjoy it. Even though the broth was hot, some of the toppings (i.e. egg) were cold in the center. It's likely they use the broth to heat up toppings left in the fridge. I got the buta ramen and I thought it was quite flavorful, but in a very salty way. It comes with chopped up pieces of pork with more minced meat at the bottom. The noodles are a bit thicker than the tamashii ramen. It is definitely not the traditional ramen flavors, more soy sauce forward in my opinion. The tamashii ramen was on the lighter broth side, not as creamy or umami as I expected. The noodles for this are also thinner.
