My 2nd fave casino in ABQ! Love the vibe here. The dealers and guests are all very chill but don't get in the way of any grandma making her way to her favorite slot machine! You'll be ran over for sure! They've got it all here! Really like their Sportsbook and Sportsbar. Good, reasonably priced food. Husband loves any of the Blackjack tables. Doesn't feel as loud or chaotic as Isleta, where I am easily overstimulated on any given weekend. Great food options, from a fancy steakhouse to the cantina comedy club or fast service food options. Great place! Chill vibe. TV's galore! While the carpet could use an overhaul, it doesn't reek of cigarette smoke and is just a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon!

    Lucky night at the casino!

I was glad to hear the star was back open. With everything going on it's nice to see this place up and running again. Of course with COVID it's not the same star we have come to remember. They really up'd their game to take on the necessary precautions to make sure it's a safe environment. One of the first things you'll notice is at all entrances guests are required to go through a temperature screening process as well as required to sign a liability waiver before granted entry. I like to read the fine print so I'm fully aware of what I am agreeing. The last thing I need is to find out later they are taking my first born child because I didn't thoroughly read the agreement. The waiver basically says that you are entering of your own free will and in good health overall and that the casino is not liable should you or any other guest contract COVID-19 and that you waive the right to sue them. Just wanted to point that out so your aware of what your getting into by signing the waiver. The staff was very friendly even with my meticulous time consumption reading the waiver before swiping my drivers license which is your electronic signature on the document. The staff was wearing masks and gloves taking all necessary precautions. They now have designated beverage stations throughout the casino where a staff member wearing a mask and gloves serves your choice of beverage. Throughout the the casino there are also open sinks deemed hand washing stations where you can wash you hands. I found it quite strange but also reassuring that you can wash your hands more often without running to the bathroom or searching for hand sanitizer. The casino floor is now divided by a yellow chain hanging from from spokes which act as like a fence. There are certain entry and exit points in each section. The casino has done an excellent job at spacing the machines apart and utilizing plexiglass to separate individuals to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. I have to they have done a far better job at this than Route 66 and Isleta. I'm quite impressed at the way the casino stepped up and took the time to really make it as safe an environment as possible. They are requiring guest to wear masks at all times and offering masks to guest who don't have one before entry. These guys really thought it out and have excelled far better at this than the other casinos in town so good job Santa Ana! Well see you next time I'm in the area.

I was performing at Quezada's comedy club and did some gambling. I dunno if I'm addicted to gambling or addicted to buffalo but I love those slots. Was up, then down, then up, then down, then up, then looking into driving for Uber. Overall had a great time. Five stars - Dustin Ybarra

We were rushing down the hall in our bathing suits and tried to badge in at 11:01, but the card had already been deactivated. I told the gentleman at the front desk and he was unmoved. Said there was absolutely no way he could allow us into the pool, as it was after checkout time -- by two minutes. Sorry Charlie, hope you enjoyed your stay, now get out! I get it, rules are rules, but I was astonished he wasn't willing to let the kids swim for a bit before we left. A nice empathetic guest let us in and the kids swam for a bit, until this guy comes in and threatens to call security! This place is a lovely looking ghost town. The parking lot is empty. They have nothing but slots. No poker. Very disappointed. Booked the Sandia Resort and Casino up the road the following night, which was AMAZING. We had a bad experience. If it weren't for that incident, I would have given them at least 4 stars. You may have a wonderful visit, as long as nothing like this happens to you.

Beautiful, classic New Mexican architecture surrounded by desert and mountain views. The grounds are beautiful with options for biking (included), tennis/pickleball, walks, horseback riding, and golf. Located about 30 minutes north of Albuquerque and 45 minutes south of Santa Fe, made it easy to spend time in either. We were able to check in early, which was so nice after an early travel morning. Our room was large and included the classic hotel amenities, including waters. We were staying slightly during the off season, so two pools were open, which was fine as it wasn't that busy and it didn't get hot until about noon. Due to the location of the resort, it is easiest to eat at the property and there are a couple of options available: The Corn Maiden - nicer dining experience, Santa Ana Cafe - casual sit-down, Rio Grande Lounge - bar and bites, and Plaza - pool cafe. During our visit the Plaza pool restaurant was only open on Saturday. We tried in-room dining for breakfast one morning, as we were up early, the eggs had little to no flavor, and a couple of our items were forgotten/late. Not a huge deal as we understood they were training a lot of staff during the time of our stay. Overall, the food throughout all the dining options was just okay, and if there were more dining options close by, I would probably go there. The restaurants all tasted the same and there didn't seem to be much variety. It would be nice if at least one of the dining options was a different kind of cuisine to bring some variety. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, the staff was so friendly and helpful. There are plenty of activities to do at the resort and we loved that they had nightly s'mores. The room was great, but food could be better.

The property itself is beautiful and expansive, sits on Tamayame land, and at the outset of the conference a member of the Native American tribe welcomed us and shared about the land and setting. The property has with multiple event spaces, an on-site trail, a large gym, and several pools. It is a fairly large resort (our room was at one end, so it was about a 7-10 minute walk to the main lobby area). Each day began with a large breakfast buffet, and lunch was similarly well done. One of the highlights was being able to sit outside during meals at large tables overlooking the grounds, mountains, trees, and fresh air made for a really peaceful setting. For breakfast, I enjoyed the red/green chilies chilaquiles (New Mexican style breakfast), it was very flavorful and I enjoyed trying but was very spicy/heavy. From a conference and events perspective, the resort is very impressive. There is a large main conference room with a stage, and the room can accommodate over 100 people (at round tables), along with many smaller breakout rooms. Over two evenings, we attended events at different venues on the property, one about a 10-minute walk away (with hotel mini-bus transportation available), and another closer to the main area under a tent. The more distant venue was quite large and set apart, likely used for weddings and larger celebrations. That evening included a buffet dinner, DJ, dancing, and multiple bar setups. The second evening closer to the main hotel was a seated dinner under a tent, with music and performances in a more contained setting. There is also a nice bar and restaurant in the lobby, as well as another more casual restaurant by the pool. Given time constraints, I was not able to fully take advantage of all the amenities (including the spa, horseback riding, and longer trail walks), but I would absolutely recommend this property. It is incredibly scenic, serene, and feels immersed in nature, and I would gladly return.
