Santa Anita Park is a fan favorite for me. This is a perfect place to unwind, relax and have fun for all ages. I remember coming here as a kid. Parking is free on a typical day. Just be ready to walk. On BIG event days I am sure it costs about $12.00 to park . Entry for the races is $10 cash. If you do come here. Do yourself a favor and bring a lunch/snacks/ect. Just no alcohol. Dont worry though. They sell it. I am going to warn you 3 beers were $36.00. They also have table service ordering using a QR code. We sat at a little table close to the ground level. We opened up our program and selected our bets. If you are going to bet you have to visit a kiosk and place your cash in the machine and they spit out a ticket/voucher. That ticket is used to place your bet. I am serious. If you have never bet on horses, I think you should try it. You can turn around $2.00 quick. Dont forget your hat. All the kool kids wear hats.
From main entrance there's large screens so you don't miss a minute of the activities. Explore the grounds, visit the stables watch the horses circle around before the race. Benches along the pathways. Walk straight thru to get to the field or head up the stairs for box seats. Large outdoor bar seating area. Inside is a long hall and smaller bar areas with kiosks for bidding and helpful staff if you're a newbie. Head through to the other side to view the field. Box seats were easy to navigate. Does require stairs. Full views of the track with in seat order service. Padded seats and ledge tabletop with cubbies to hold your stuffs. You can walk down to watch the races close up on the field. Benches on the lower area. The smoke smell is strong almost everywhere you go. Despite that all the staff were great! Very helpful, approachable and friendly service.
Came to this place for Mother's Day event. First time at the racetrack when arriving at the park, there was plenty of parking. The park is really big. There is plenty of seating we came on Sunday. Weather was gloomy, but felt great. The race for the day was nine race. Total was really fun. Easy to bet. Stafford was friendly. Drinks were great restaurants available refreshments Cotton candy will definitely be back.
amazing race track, second to none, exceptionally maintained. it is old but it is so well maintained to the highest quality. They have events for community that is held here and of course the race horse seasons. Parking is tremendous. Take picture of your space or drive a very tall car or else you could lose sight of where you parked! Restroom facilities are limited though so plan ahead!!!
We always have a good time at the racetrack. It's usually not too crowded, which is nice when you're trying to make last minute bets. But if you come on opening day be prepared for extremely large crowds and a busy parking lot, other than that there's always plenty of free parking. There's usually dollar apecials on holidays, they occasionally have family/kid friendly days with rides and a variety of themed festivals, including some dog races. The staff is usually friendly and if it's not too busy they'll take the time to explain how the betting works. They have both self help kiosk and in person betting and can bet and watch multiple races from other locations. Entrance fee can vary from the usual $5-10 to free and more for themed festival events.
Such a classic and fun day at the races! We've been going to Santa Anita for years and it has just as much charm as ever. Since our trips are home on break from college we took them and a couple of their friends to the races. After all, they're 18 now and can bet on their first race! We'd planned to go on Jan 1st but with pending rain we decided to go on the 30th instead and it was a perfect SoCal day! Just walking up you can feel a sense of the history behind Santa Anita. And, as you enter the historic buildings, you're grateful that time hasn't replaced them with more modern and shall I say boring architecture. It's a step back in time to a bygone era but it seems everyone there fits right in. Walking up to the bar, I ordered a Shirley Temple, Roy Rogers and a beer. The bartender happily obliged and we talked about opening day (the prior day) was much busier and that our choice to come today. After placing bets on a couple of races we went in search of lunch. There is a food court area but we figured we'd splurge a little and find the restaurant. The FrontRunner was a little tricky to find but nothing a quick search online couldn't solve for us. We made our way up the front escalator and to the restaurant. It was rather long and only a portion was seated as we went on a Monday. But we were seated right away. At first they were going to put us about three rows back from the front window but I asked if we could squeeze a 7th chair on an open window table and they happily obliged. The service was friendly and attentive and our food was solid. I had a burger and fries and it was as expected - a traditional burger. I also ordered a cocktail, the Baldwin Buck, the official Cocktail of Santa Anita). Not only did we have an excellent view from our table, we got to easily place bets between each race. Our luck was pretty solid with a few decent wins and no major losses. All in all, lots of fun! For the final race we made it downstairs to watch by the front rail and cheer for our faves. That night, inspired from the days events, we watched Seabiscuit and maybe even shed a tear or two. What a wonderful day.
Always a good time at the race track. They have plenty of food options and drinks. All the horses are fun to watch. Great place for family and friends to hang out.
We decided to come here because they were hosting Japanese Heritage Day, and it was amazing. It was a family event with a live DJ and authentic Japanese drummers. The food was Japanese-style and great. There were many Japanese events around the track that felt like you were actually in Japan, and I have been there myself. I will definitely be returning for more Heritage Days here at Santa Anita Park.
We love horse betting Sundays. The vibes, the company we bring. Today was a Korgi dog event and we saw the race which was the cutest thing ever.
First time here everybody was super friendly. It was very easy to get around. They had several different food choices. We actually had a carved beef sandwich, which was fantastic and the races were easy. I could not figure out how to use the digital bedding machines, but that's OK. I stood in line and went to a window and everybody was friendly. It was super clean. We had a great time.
Went on opening day - was a fun time with a large crowd! Friend's kids were able to check out some horses along side where the paddock is. Lots of beers and snacks to go around. Will be back!
Great day at the races today. Great atmosphere at usual and smooth process placing my bets. Loved seeing the horses up close at the paddocks.
I hadn't been to this park in years and finally got yo enjoy opening day. It was a great time. Coming here brought back childhood memories and nostalgia. It's just how I remembered it. It was a crowded day and lines were long for betting and drinks at the bar, but employees were so nice! It had been a while since I betted on horses so I was a little slow when I got to the window , but each time the people who worked there was so patient and helpful. Now I want to go again soon! It's a great family friendly environment and also great to go with friends. Definitely will be back soon!

A beautiful way to spend the Memorial Day weekend. Perfect weather and temps. My handicapping not so good today... but with views of the San Gabriel mountains who cares. I was actually surprised at the size of the crowd Monday, very well attended. For those new to Santa Anita go to the Frontrunner for a restaurant experience overlooking the stretch run. Serious horse players go to the "Room" - it's next to the Chandelier room. Used to be called the Sports Book but now it's just unnamed. The clubhouse side has outdoors table seating just past the finish line. Plenty of bars and food venues throughout for those so like to walk around and visit the paddock and walking ring. We came here this past Sunday. I haven't been to horse racing since I was a little kid, when I would go with my Dad. Like those childhood memories, Santa Anita Park is a place frozen in time. The bones of the place are utilitarian, lots of metal in the building. It's an expansive horse racing park, but in a way, it also feels like you could be on a Navy battleship. I'm just processing that thought now, in retrospect. The park is nestled right beside the Angeles National Forest, and the view of the mountains is magnificent. The race tracks are dirt or grass. Between the view of the mountains, and the colors of the horses and jockeys, and the beautiful horses, it's a visually appealing spectacle. We sat in a small box in the grandstand with 3 seats and a tv so you can watch the horses when they are on the far side of the track. You can also change channels on the tv as they apparently are all hooked up to cable tv. We watched the Dodgers game for a while! They offer food service and the food wasn't anything special, but the serving sizes were generous. You can also order cocktails, wine & beer, champagne and soft drinks. Admission was only $10 and you go and make an afternoon out of it. Obviously, most people are betting on the races. We didn't understand a lot of the betting, so we just made simple $2 bets on whichever horses we liked best. I think at the end of our day, we had won $10. Definitely a worthwhile and fun way to spend a day in LA. read more

Pumpkin Patch and Fall Fun Fest As usual, this is fun but a little disappointing as the pumpkin patch was at a minimal and not much to do or choose from. Sadly, the food was overpriced and not that great, definitely don't go for the food! read more

Horse racing, festivals or games, Santa Anita has held some of the best events on site. Throughout the year, this thoroughbred racetrack host several type of venues. Some of my favorites are the spring carnival, beer festival and annual wine tasting event. So many memories. I recommend arriving early to get a close parking space and get set up with your spot in the park. There is a parking fee and admission (depending on the event). I have also enjoyed attending for horse races. Just learned on my last visit Santa Anita has hosted the Breeder's Cup more times than any other track in the country. There Grandstand has plenty of seating for all purpose events. read more

We went to Santa Anita Park on a Friday afternoon since there was no school that day. Admission was free, which was a nice bonus. Because it was a regular workday, the place wasn't crowded -- calm and quiet overall. One thing to note: there was only one live teller on-site. Some machines were for vouchers only, and no one seemed to be using them, which made things confusing for first-time visitors. There weren't any staff around to help explain how it worked, so it took us a while to figure things out. I put in $6 for my kids and placed a show bet. Their guess was right -- two of the horses they picked ended up finishing first and second. It added some fun and excitement to the visit. read more

We went mainly for the Corgi Nationals where the dogs with the shortest legs raced against each other. But since we were already there and had time to spare, I also reserved us spots to go on the Seabiscuit Tram Tour. Our guide, who was a former jockey, was amazing. You could tell that he lived and breathed for horse racing. Combine that with exclusive drive through access to the back stables, walk in access to the receiving room (Where horses are weighed and tested for drugs) and silks room (Silks are the colorful clothes the jockeys wear), and it made for a highly informative and entertaining 1 hour-ish tour (10 mins. on the tram + 50 mins. walking around the grounds and stables in the front). It was already enough to make us tired, but still made our way to the Corgi Nationals which was in the Infield (The oval grassy area inside the race track). Just waiting in the long line to get in, we were surrounded by corgis sniffing noses and butts, and there was even one with a rainbow colored mohawk. There were regular restrooms (not porta potties), several food trucks, a row of vendors, and a grassy patch where the corgis raced. I was confused as to why it wasn't on the main track until I learned that they don't move there until the semifinals and finals. In the meantime, it was difficult to find a spot near the wood fence, so we watched 2 races by it and watched the rest on the jumbotron. At least that way, we could actually see what was happening while laying on the grass under the shade of our parasols. The races would alternate with the horses and the corgis. And because of our bracelets, we got to go under the tunnel and watch the actual horse races on the outside racetrack as well. The Infield makes you realize just how big it is while the grandstands give you amazing views of the mountains and palm trees. At the end of both the corgi and horse races, we ran into the funny MC for the Corgi Nationals inside the tunnel who gave us exclusive news that Corgi Beach Day at Huntington Beach would be moving locations south of the pier with more parking. By the time it was time to walk back to the car, we were exhausted, but had such a fun day! read more

I love Santa Anita! I pretty much grew up here since my parents always brought me when I was young so I know where everything is. I still go sometimes and invited friends years ago who enjoy horse racing as well. I believe this is the most beautiful racetrack with an amazing view of the San Gabriel mountains! Took these photos earlier today and the panoramic picture came out really nice! read more

Stopped by on Sunday, 04/06/25 for the first time. There was a Fiesta/Carnival going on as well which was really fun. Unfortunately it was pretty warm that day - I would recommend bringing a hat and some cold drinks! You are also allowed to picnic here and bring your own stuff. There was also a concert which was fun and overall a fantastic vibe to be a part of. read more

We went to celebrate a birthday! My first time there and we're in box seats. It was a warm muggy day so heat drains you. Had so much fun. Easy to place a bet. The food was good. The food and drinks were what I expected in price. We ate at the sandwich shop and prime rib sandwich was good. I had the turkey sandwich was good but would be nice if had lettuce and tomato. We got to go down and see the horses, you realize how big they are. All around it was a great day! You can bring the family! read more
I've been to the Santa Anita Park a handful times but this visit we came for a Corgi's Nationals. Was a nice setup in the middle of the park (in between where the horses race). Also did some horse race betting which was a pretty fun experience as well. Parking is super easy and this place is historic, totally a spot to check out with all the different events that go on weekly. read more
I've been to Santa Anita Race Track many times. My mom would bring me when I was young. I wanted to be a jockey, but she felt it was too dangerous, so she enrolled me in riding lessons instead. To this day I prefer an English saddle over Western. My dear friend and neighbor had her birthday celebration here and invited me to join the festivities. She rented a suite with a buffet of delicious eats: fresh fruit, various cheeses, crudité, wings, sandwiches, & dessert. Wine & champagne were complimentary and cocktails were available for purchase. In honor of her birthday one of the races was dedicated to her. In addition, we were treated to a VIP tour and got to see the magnificent Thoroughbreds in the paddock before the race. We stood in the walking ring as they made their way to the track and had a front row seat for the race. We also got to stand in the winner's circle, which was a dream come true for me! The ladies that took us on the tour were delightful and provided lots of interesting information. Our bartender was also fantastic. I had such a wonderful time and really enjoyed this one in a lifetime opportunity. Lucky Baldwin founded the original Santa Anita Racetrack a few blocks east of its current location in 1907. Dr Charles H Shrub & Hal Roach opened the new track in its current location on Christmas 1934. Santa Anita is home to numerous prestigious races - Santa Anita Derby, Santa Anita Handicap, & The Breeders' Cup. *Free Admission & Parking on Fridays + $3 Beers & $5 Margaritas. read more

We purchased the ultimate fan experience and I just want to say - DO IT!! It was so worth the money. We had a blast. Breakfast included at clockers corner - it was delicious. Then on to a behind the scenes tour. We were escorted around on a golf cart - the best was meeting the race horses up close and personal. I loved petting them and talking to them. Lunch and a margarita were also included. A tour of the silks room included. I can go on and on. Oh! Did I mention that we were invited to the winner's circle for the second race where we drank champagne with the owner and his entourage and had our picture taken with them and the horse and jockey! Yep! All included. It was the best! Our tour guides were outstanding!! read more
I've been coming to Santa Anita Race Track for decades. My dad, who passed away a few years ago, absolutely loved to bet on the horses. We used to visit the track several times a month. This place always brings back great memories of my dad. I've attended several events here such as wine and beer festivals. My husband and I went today and had a great time! We sat in the infield. There were lots of food booths and trucks and plenty of fun things for kids. It's a great way to spend a day! read more
Went here today for MLK on a Monday with coworkers and had a great time. Parking and admission was free. We got in early so parking was a breeze and had our pick of the litter on seating so we grabbed seats up front at the white benches ground level right at the track. It was windy out so it was nice where we got sunlight and stayed relatively warm. Didn't explore many food options, as we didn't know what we were doing. They gave us each a $10 credit for betting so I used mine to place 5 bets at $2 each. You have to bring cash to trade for tokens to use around the park for drinks and food. I don't really drink so I just used tokens on hot dogs and soda. They don't have coke, which is a bummer, just Pepsi and 7up. We left after the fifth race and parking was stiff trying to get out of the tight space. Other than that, it was a great experience. read more

I was very impressed with the atmosphere over at the race track. Lots of green areas, friendly staff, good places to get snacks or drinks, & they host special events as well. The parking was a little confusing but it was expected because they host a wide range of private & public events. The horses were awesome & it was a blast watching them stride down the race way. I'm definitely going back soon. read more

Free admission on Fridays. Parking is included with admission too. First time guests can register for a player card and receive $10 for betting or food. It's a fun day with a beautiful backdrop. If you're lucky, you can pet some horses and win some money! But, even "losing," you're a winner. The excite and experience is the cheapest full day excursion in town. Some bets are only cents per bet while others are a minimum of $2. Win, place show... $6 total it's an exciting day! read more

Santa Anita race track is just not for the races! The clubhouse restaurant is phenomenal. The food is great the service impeccable. While you're enjoying your lunch you can bet on the horses. You have an excellent view either on screen or visually on the track. If you want a great afternoon With great food at a decent price this is the place to go. Relaxing and fun at the same time. My burger was perfect. My sons quesadilla was yummy. The shrimp cocktail Perfect. And let's not even mention that apple strudel! It was absolutely the best I've ever had. So take a little break and enjoy a lunch along with relaxation and excitement at Santa Anita. Great for girls afternoon out, family gathering, birthday celebration or just a quick get away. read more
