They will occasionally go around to check on guests in case you need any additional condiments or just to help clear your table. Today I found out Gloria usually works M-F so it's rare when you get to eat her food on weekends! I can tell by taste of the food when she's not cooking. If you haven't had a good cajun shrimp taco, just call the restaurant ahead of time and confirm if Gloria is cooking. If she is, I'll guarantee you'll have one of the best Cajun shrimp tacos!!! She's very generous with the sauces and feels like she's cooking too make the food taste great! Today our food was good. Not bland necessarily just not sauced up like how Gloria does it. Gloria's food legit makes my mouth water! I think the lighter food caters to health conscious elderly folks more. Still good, just not mouth watering lol. This was actually my first time trying California Fish Grill, and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the protein bowl with chicken, steak, and shrimp. It was like a surf and turf bowl with cilantro rice and pico de gallo, and everything paired together really well. I also happened to come during a promotion where the bowl was free with the purchase of a drink, which was an amazing deal. I'd definitely recommend downloading the app since they seem to have great offers. There's plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating, and the service was excellent. The restaurant is located in a large plaza in Rosemead with other food spots like Panda Express and Abe's Hot Chicken, so it's a really convenient area if you're out and about. So since it was a new year, I decided to give them another chance I went in and got the Seabass kale slaw and street corn. I have to say I really enjoyed my meal. The fish was done perfectly. The street corn had a wonderful char. And the kale slaw was a nice compliment. I wouldn't mind a slightly larger portion. But was very happy overall. The service here is still not great. People don't greet you when you come in employees will literally have a conversation in front of you instead of saying hi or asking if they can help you get an order together. My family and I have been to multiple locations for California Fish Grill and the employees here are by far the best. The food is always great, but the employees definitely make it more enjoyable. So of you like battered fish you will enjoy this taco. My wife liked her shrimp taco more than the salmon saying the shrimp was much more flavorful. She would get the shrimp taco again. I saw some other patrons who got the entree platter and it looked delicious. I look forward to trying that the next time i visit. I've had my eye on California Fish Grill for the past few months. A friend of mine said she loves this fish chain, and I also saw it was in my area. She recommended that I try the grilled swai. I came here with my wife one evening for dinner. The restaurant is relatively small, and it has ordering kiosks which is nice. Staff are super nice. We ended up ordering a New England Clam Chowder, as well as a salmon and swai combo with kaleslaw and dynamite fries, and we shared that. The staff allowed us to request a variety of different sauces, and we ended up getting the green salsa and tartar sauce. I really loved the clam chowder, which I had not had in quite a while. The swai really did live up to the hype. Incredibly well seasoned, and went well with both the salsa and the tartar sauce. The kaleslaw was fairly standard. The salmon was good.
