Who wants a greasy burrito. Pacific burritos was wet on grease.

Who wants a greasy burrito. Pacific burritos burrito was wet on grease. Don't order the type of burrito

If this rating was based off of their panadería alone, I'd give them 4 stars. They regularly make budín which is my absolute favorite. It's not the best I've had but it's getting harder and harder to find so I appreciate that they carry it here. So why the 3 star rating instead? Well, it's largely based off my annoyance that the items are not labeled with the correct prices or they're not labeled at all. I have my favorite grocery stores for certain items. Strawberries are better at Safeway. Baby spinach at Trader Joe's. Raleys for their carrots. And so on. But sometimes I'll just stop at one store out of convenience or when I know I need a specialty item. I loooooove Mexican food so I find myself at Santa Fe fairly often to pick up those one or two missing ingredients that I know I can't find anywhere else. And if I know I need a staple item of something else, I'll usually add that to my basket too. But when the price rings up at double (or even triple) the regular price of that item elsewhere, you kinda feel taken advantage of. This has regularly happened to me here so I've resorted to only shopping for the items I know are somewhat exclusive to this store. It's cumbersome but it's hard to shop for items when you don't know their prices! Overall ambience is fairly standard for a grocery store but may edge on the run-down side. Some areas, like the panadería, are well maintained. But I wouldn't buy many packaged goods here because I've seen grains and canned items well passed their "best buy" date. So those things seem to be lingering around for a while. Come check this place out for great bakery items at the very least.

I would actually go 2.5 but since I can't do 1/2 couldn't go to 3 so had to go to 2. Me and a buddy stopped in here for lunch. They offer a nice selection on their menu so decided to give it a try. Got the chicken sope plate and a carne asada taco. The prices were ok and serving size was decent. The taste was meh. If I was with someone who really wanted to eat there I probably would but would not recommend or go back on my own.

Wonderful Mexican market with a great produce section. Though I was here for the taqueria. Great selection of pre-cooked meals ready for dine in or to go. I got a carne asada burrito with chips and salsa for $6.99 plus tax. Pretty good deal. The burrito was Mexican rice, beans and meat with salsa. I'll be back to try some of their specials.

Super nachos with carnitas, 2018 vs 2021
    Jerry S.

Super nachos with Carnitas = delicious. Employees = super friendly. Spicy red salsa = incredible. Sad part: I have been weighing the nachos on a food scale since ~2017. In 2018 would give 1450 grams of nachos for $9, but now in 2021 they give around 1100 grams for $13. It means the value (nachos/dollar) has fallen 47%. It depends on who is preparing the nachos, but lately I've received as little as 750 grams, and never more than 1280 grams. The amount used to be amazing, but now it's starting to feel like a rip off, although it is still delicious.

Santa Fe food market is a destination shopping experience. It's very clean and well stocked. Their produce section is second to none. Variety and presentation in the produce and meat departments deserve praise. The Taqueria, the prepared food deli offers a menu that covers the entire Mexican realm of food offerings. Fish stews, rellenos, street tacos, burritos pork ribs and salads. Fresh made tamales can be purchased near the exit for $1.99 each. Santa Fe is definitely on the food market rotation.

It sucks when someone doesn't speak English and understand what you ordered I ordered a chili relleno and a cheese enchilada plate the lady repeated it which was fine but then when I got my plate I got 4 enchiladas the plate was pretty big. I ordered a small Slice of Cheesecake with a strawberry on top and drizzled chocolate on it from the Panaderia, it looks so good but it was not fresh it had a hard coating around the entire thing meaning it was old or from another day like 2 days ago or maybe even three I ordered a pork tamale for my daughter it was actually pretty good...the food itself was good, very good. My dad ordered chicken fajitas. These combination plates come very large which is pretty good fairly priced.

This grocery store was "mi pueblo" before it was closed. It's back with a new name "Santa Fe Mercado Y Carniceria ". Same concept as the previous store. Fresh produce, fresh meats, bakery and a large selection of prepared food to go. Fresh produce has lots of vegetable and fruits at a good deal. Bakery has fresh baked bread everyday. From pan dulce to birthday cakes! My favorite are the sweet bread and baguettes. The meat department has a variety of beef, chicken and even seafood. I like to purchase the prepared carne asada. It's already marinated to make great tacos! Prepared food section is by far my favorite. It's been hard finding a great Mexican food locale and this spot has all kids of food. Echiladas, tacos, burritos, tamales, tortas, bistec and rice and beans! Too much to list!! Try this place out you won't be disappointed. Stop by and grab some fresh veggies and take some already made food to go!

    Dinner to go.

For the most part, going to most any restaurant was a waste of time and money. A better choice was to let them shop and choose at Safeway and then bring it all back to the Hotel. Our choices weren't all that nutritious over all, but it did reduce the drama and later cries of "I'm Starving"! My most pleasant surprise here was that my old California land line number was still linked to the Safeway Loyalty program. Past that, the combination of an unfamiliar store, and so many choices made this Safeway trip a fairly lengthy one. And later back at the Hotel, all was well.

However - I was left a full bag full of someone else's groceries. At first I left it on the porch, but eventually TRIED to contact Safeway and report it. The website makes it damn near impossible and the only contact you're given is AI. When they transfer you to a human, it's not in the US. Biiiig help. Yes, I know I'll get to keep the food, and I got *my* order, but what about the person who is missing an entire bag of multiple items? Safeway doesn't seem to care about their experience at all, or the experience of their regular customers. Yes, DoorDash delivers the groceries - but Safeway CHOOSES to use DD drivers. Be aware that if you order grocery delivery from here, there's no accountability from Safeway and no way to report it to DD, you're just SOOL. I might have to switch to Walmart delivery. Also, every.single.bag had broken/ripped/useless handles because the contents were too heavt for the bags. Everything had to be carried into the house from the bottom!

Thanks to my YouTube habit, I found this quaint, tiny, family-run Korean grocery in a travel video on inexpensive meals in Monterey. The travelers praised the freshness of the ready-to-eat refrigerated banchan dishes and the just made kimbap rolls availabe for purchase on the checkout counter. Perfect for my use case. I parked on the street around the corner which was easy to find & free for 2 hours. The store is small and packed with anything you can imagine from an Asian grocery. The upright cold cases are toward the back left, and the frozen proteins are in a deep freezer near the checkout counter. When I arrived around 1pm on a summer Tuesday, no one was in the store, but I could hear Korean voices in conversation from the back room. I did my shopping in the banchan case (pickled cucumber & kelp salad - yum!) then poked my head through that open doorway to ask, "May I purchase kimbap?" The grandmother / proprietor jumped up to say, "Sure! Are you ready to check out?" The plastic-wrapped roll was about 7-8 inches long and stuffed with typical kimbap ingredients: nori, rice, krab, carrot, daikon, tofu). A filling meal for me at $2. With my $4 salad, the whole cost was $6 and I had leftover salad for picnicking the next day. Sorry, I failed to take any pictures (bad Yelper!), but if you've ever had ready-to-eat foods from a Korean grocer, you know what to expect.
