But with its elaborate decorations, holiday music, and over the top photo backdrops, this place truly embraces the holiday spirit. The evening concluded with a souvenir holiday cup- very cool! They did such a great job with so many photo opportunities and really decorating this place to change the atmosphere of a club basement. I had the whiskey drink that was so tasty and my friend had the sangria and she enjoyed that. They brought out s'mores which was so perfect and cute getting to roast marshmallows right at our table! The service was attentive to our table, but I think it could depend where you sit. It can be hard to find seating even though a reservation is needed. If you're looking to escape to a Christmas wonderland, you need to check out Santa's Lair! This Christmas bar has by far the best decorations and atmosphere I've been to, with so many little themed nooks to sit in and games set out at tables, and even a DJ to amp up the mood. The Clausmopolitan and Santa's Smorespresso are incredible if you like dessert drinks, I found the Scarlet Letter too sweet, but all the drink theming was on point. I do have to say though, the service is extremely slow, and with a strict 90 minute time frame, that can hinder you if you want more than 1-2 drinks. I did come here on opening night though, so maybe it'll get better! read more

My partner and I received tickets for the 8-9:30pm visit to Santa's Lair. Parking was easy at Horton Plaza, $10/hour, and a brisk 2-3 block walk to Parq. The entrance was at 625 Broadway, though the tickets says 615. There was a line of people out front and a man checking IDs before letting you in. Everyone was very kind! Going downstairs, everything was decorated so beautifully! They had a whole list of drinks for the event as well you could order either from the bar or I seen a waitress going around. The entire area is open seating, there's a lot of little rooms decorated besides the main area. The bar was a little slow with 2 bartenders handling the main crowd. By the time we got a drink and sat we had about 45 mins remaining in our time frame. I ordered the Here to Sleigh and my partner had the Mistletoe Mule, they were fine! We were impressed with how organized the operation was, as these things are so easily...disorganized. They had a sufficient amount of employees picking up glasses and making sure the crowd was circulating in and out. Disclaimer: To be completely honest, this is a first. I didn't know what to expect. I think the drinks were overly complicated, which slowed the bar. The general age range was 30-50 year olds, which was nice, all looking for a photo and a nice night out. I do think it's weird to pay to get in, to then pay for a drink, to simply sit in a well decorated area ‍ but it may not be for me & that's ok. If you're into it, I recommend! read more

Santa's lier I finally had the chance to check out this bar! This pop-up bar is located near Parq nightclub. You do need tickets to enter, it comes with a complimentary takeaway ceramic Christmas mug. Upon entry you'll walk down a series of stairs before you arrive to this amazing over the top Christmasland bar! Upon entering they had a character dressed up like Grinch singing a tune from the movie. It was so cute from the moment we walked in. They did such a great job of decorating each corner of the venue to a Christmas element. There's a big fireplace with couches in one section, there's a little gingerbread house and another section. Above the bar they have little elf clothes hanging. They also have a variety of holiday drink specials and some snacks. I was very happily impressed with quality of their drinks, I feel like holiday special drinks sometimes are too sweet or just some not the right combination. I ordered this santas s'morespresso, it was amazing. Perfect balance of expresso martini and sweetness of s'mores marshmallows. We switched to their spice spice baby drink, which was a great balance around mexcal tequila. We also ordered the smores snack, which gives you the opportunity to roast your own s'mores at your table over a little fire! Overall this is such a fun experience, ambience was great, service was great, drinks were amazing! read more

This holiday pop-up bar was at the top of our list to visit, but it didn't quite meet our expectations compared to others we've been to. The place was nicely decorated with a festive vibe, and they had a mini show featuring the Grinch, which was a nice touch. Their drink and food selection was limited. We tried the Whoville Elixir, Santa's Smorespresso, Fireside Chat, and had the Smores for food. The first round of drinks was good and presented well. However, the Whoville Elixir we got later seemed to have less quantity, was more diluted, missing the chocolate on the rim, and lacked the biscotti. Waiting for the Smores took over an hour, even after inquiring twice. Interestingly, guests who arrived and placed their orders much later than us received their smores before ours because our server forgot to place our order. Service was slow, and although we were okay ordering at the bar, a different server insisted we order through our assigned server. To expedite, we opened another tab at the bar to get our drinks. This experience felt expensive and not worth it, considering the requirement to buy tickets online for a 90-minute slot plus fees. Initially, we understood the unique experience and limited-time aspect, but the inconsistent quality of food and drinks, coupled with lengthy wait times, made it difficult for us to enjoy the visit. read more

I was hesitant on buying the ticket that included a drink and souvenir, but glad I did as the souvenir was a holiday ceramic cup. Upon entrance you get to pick the color you want. I should say depending on where you bought your ticket you will be able to get the holiday souvenir cup AND be able to pick any holiday drink of the menu. Off of the company's website you get this deal, but if you buy off of SD Bucket Listers you don't get to pick any holiday drink nor get the holiday souvenir cup. Noted for next year when buying a ticket. As for the holiday drink menu..... Ohhhh it had plenty of yummy options! I only planned on drinking one cocktail, but ended up drinking two. Ordered the Santa's Smorespresso and Notta Colado (both dairy free). Both were so yummy in their own right. Had a sip of my friends Spice Spice Baby drink and that was good as well (refreshing). As for the ambiance and decorations .... Loved it! The throw up Xmas decor I was looking for. Even had a Grinch come out and sing to the audience. Took pictures as well. I would recommend getting there early (before listed ticket time) to get through the line and be able to take pictures when not so many people are there. Cute pop-up, but honestly we were not impressed with the mixology of the drinks. They just didn't sound great, and the four we ended up with were all so-so. The s'mores roasting was a cute idea, but our crackers were all crushed and the heat only lasted about halfway through the plate. Still a fun spot to go listen to some Christmas tunes and see a cute little holiday sparkle with friends. We did find service was easier at the bar than the table, but everyone was friendly. Probably won't do this next year, but a fun midweek date if you're looking for something different. Definitely didn't stay our full time allotment. read more

We were able to pick a cozy spot that we enjoyed... seems like people that showed up late were frustrated with the seating availability. The Christmas lights and decorations were absolutely stunning--no complaints there! It really felt like stepping into a winter wonderland... until reality set in. First, the s'mores situation was a total flop. The fire they gave us lasted about 15 seconds before shutting off, so instead of toasty marshmallows, we were just awkwardly poking sticks at a dying flame. Definitely not the cozy s'mores experience I was expecting. I had planned this as a surprise for my friend who was visiting me after we hadn't seen each other in a while. I wanted to treat her to a cute, festive spot to make the evening special. Unfortunately, things didn't quite go as planned. Let's talk about the staff. Our waiter was super sweet--she brought good vibes and was really accommodating. But unfortunately, the majority of the staff seemed like they were on a mission to make us feel unwelcome. They turned off the Christmas music out of nowhere while we were still attempting to make s'mores. It killed the festive mood instantly, like a Grinch-level mood killer. Then came the real kicker: while we were sitting at the table eating, they just came over and said, "Alright, our next party is coming, you guys need to leave." No heads-up, no warning--just straight-up told us to go. I get that there's a time limit, but this could have been handled so much better. A polite heads-up like, "Hey, just so you know, you have 15 minutes left" would've been fine! Instead, it felt like they couldn't get rid of us fast enough. Oh, and the announcement? "People with yellow bracelets need to leave. The rest can stay." Like, okay, we get it, but could you maybe not announce it like we're being voted off an island? It came off so rude and dismissive. The setting was gorgeous--the lights, the ambiance, all of that was perfect. But the way they managed the experience really took away from the magic. A little kindness, communication, and respect for the guests would've gone a long way. Instead, it felt rushed, impersonal, and, honestly, pretty rude. I really wanted this to be a special night for my friend, but sadly, it didn't live up to expectations. I'll give 3 stars because our waiter was so sweet and brought great vibes, but the rest of the experience--from the rude staff to being rushed out and the s'mores fiasco--really brought things down. read more

Cutely decorated. Good cocktails. Very nice bartenders. I booked the 9-10:30 slot, the $30 one that includes a mug and a drink ticket. We weren't let in until a little after 9:10, which wouldn't be the biggest deal but we did pay for a time slot and when we got in they weren't clearing the people from prior time slots so there was no where to sit. It was frustrating because what's the point of paying for a time slot if the people from prior ones are allowed to stay and take up all the seating? We didn't get a seat until nearly an hour into our slot. So we had a good time from 10-10:30 then we were all kicked out since it closed at 10:30. I think it was just poorly organized, maybe because of the kitchen being backed up with orders so they couldn't kick prior parties out who ordered food. Either way, felt a bit jipped. read more

The new Holiday pop up for 2022! I made a reservation for my girlfriend & I on their website. They are only open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday, & they have Happy Hour from 4p-6p (free admission). After that, you will have to pay. So they say that Santa's Lair is in Parq, which is true, but on the other side (not where the main entrance was). You will know that you are there with the festive lights. The space was incredible! Many photo op options, awesome holiday music, & insanely festive! Staff was super sweet. Their cocktails are delicious & super strong so be careful! read more

Not worth the money, make sure you you check your tab. We were charged for a drink we had already paid at the bar. Then we had to wait 15 min for a manager to come and fix it. It took our last 15 min that we had designated for pictures. When our tab was fixed the manger said we had to leave. We have no pictures at all. Timed entry was kind of pointless, they didn't get us in until almost 40 minutes past the start time. Once we did get inside, we fought to get a place to sit in the main room. The table was covered in plates, food, and glasses from the previous group. Took almost an hour for someone to come clear them off. A waitress never came to take our order, we ended up going to the bar twice for drinks and never got a chance to order food. I was surprised there wasn't a dj, it was just a playlist of Christmas music. Decor is cute for sure, but not sure why they opted to put the photo op area between the bathrooms where you can snap photos to the soundtrack of Mother Nature dropping nearby. What's great: - Drinks. I had the Santa espresso and the whoville elixir, they were both delicious! 10/10 - The bartender. I didn't catch his name but he had short black hair and worked Sunday night 12/10. He was very chill and friendly and made great drinks. Thank you!! What's terrible: - SERVICE. I was at a table with two couches with 5 friends. Our blonde server wearing all black kept walking past us several times. We were waving her down and she would for some reason make eye contact with us and then walk to another table. I get she was busy but after legit 30 minutes of watching her walk up to table next to us and ignore us we got so annoyed. I went up to the bar to clarify if we had a server or needed to walk up to order, and I was told TWICE that a server would come to us. They even pointed out the same blonde girl to me. I was so frustrated I just went up go the bar to order. I finally flagged her down in person when I was ordering at the bar and asked if she would please go to our table and take our order since no one has approached us in an hour now at that point. This place knows how many tickets they're selling in a night, so how are you going to have so little staff?? She was so rude and had such an attitude about taking our order. It felt targeted. What a place!!! It is only open for the holiday season and do require a ticket to enter!! So make sure you buy a ticket through their website or through Eventbrite. I got my ticket from Eventbrite as it includes one complimentary drink. There is happy hour from 4-6pm which means free entry but you still need to have a ticket. If you want Christmas fun already then I recommend checking this spot out. It's also in a nice spot to do other nightlife activities afterwards. I thought it was absolutely adorable. The service was amazing the drinks were tasty and the decor was put together nicely. There were quite a few photo stations set up around the space with some tables and lounge seating. The Christmas tree was perfectly decorated and help to light Santa's dim Lair I wish I could remember our servers name because she was on top of her game!! There was also a gentleman working with her and he was very kind. We had a chocolate peppermint martini which was garnished with a toasted marshmallow and a candy cane. We also had the only warm drink on the menu which was quite tasty too. We had happy hour tickets so we got in for free. Check it out if you get a chance. read more

Although the decorations were nice and the drinks were good. The transition between time slots was terrible. We were still waiting on our appetizer when we were told we needed to leave. Once we said we were still waiting on that they gave us 5 minutes to eat before bring us the check and asking us to leave again. They also turned off the Christmas music and made some of the string lights flash. They kept repeating they were sold out but it was an early time slot and there was hardly anyone there. There were tons of open sets so the rush to push us out the door seemed unnecessary. As the next group was coming in they made a load announcement for them to stand on one side of the room while the previous time slot cleared out. It was awkward and killed the festive vibe. This was a fun experience but it ended on such a crappy note for our whole group, ruined by who I assume was a manager??? The experience is only so big with room for so many people, hence the reservation. When my group (the 30 or so people who all had 615 reservations) was let in, the room was still packed! It took us a while to find spots and it seemed others were having the same issue. Finally we found a cool spot, great atmosphere, fun drinks. It was a good time for the price. About halfway through, I saw heard someone telling all the previous group stragglers to get out. Halfway through OUR 90 minute experience!!! Also, the service was shitty but I truly did t expect too much. But 5 minutes before our time was up, this woman (manager in a red top) was going around and rudely telling everyone they had 5 minutes to get out. And at exactly 745, music cut off and this Bi*€# went around telling everyone to get out, it's time to leave. Surprise that with a 5 minute warning, all the women wanted to hit the bathroom. She was so rude, wouldn't let a lot of people wait to pee, said we had to make way for the next group. Guys couldn't wait for their dates, just everyone leave! Now! We tried to tell her she was rude and that this had not been done for our group. She just kept telling us to leave. Pretty much ruined the experience. Christmas is a fun time of good will, not some asshole not doing her job wrong for us, then treating us like garbage to accommodate the next group coming in. The place was very well decorated, but the drinks were not great. For $16/drink, I'd expect higher quality bartenders. I asked 2 servers about their drinks and they were not familiar with the menu at all and asked me for mine so they could see what was on it. I even asked a bartender about the drinks and even she wasn't sure what was on the menu when I ordered it by their name and was clearly guessing at the portions. Second round I asked if they were able to make other cocktails and ordered an old fashion that was incredibly sweet and hard to even get through. In summary, the place was honestly really well decorated but the drinks were not good at all. Their chicken fingers (so random) were awesome though! Service itself was very understaffed and if you wait for the server to get to you, you'll be waiting for a long time. Walking up the bar is definitely the way to go for better service. read more
