All I have to say is eww! . I got a surf and turf burrito that was uneditable and I happen to stop there because I originally went to saritas but there was a long line and I couldn't wait. I remember coming here because they had a drive-through and I feel like it's had a change of ownership but the hot carrots gave you heartburn and the crispy beef tacos are OK but the flavor of my burrito was like they had not changed the oil in years and it had to be thrown away. Santanas is a solid 24 hour taco shop with daily specials and menudo on the weekends. When I am pressed for time. I occasionally go through the drive thru for anything from rolled tacos to a carne asada burrito. The prices are fairly moderate and the quality is good. The service is also good. I think it was because they were almost closing but does not give any right to rudeness and saying there is no "steak ranchero" when we all know it's carne asada. First of my husband ask if they has the plate of steak ranchero plate immediately she seemed irritated. My husband graciously decided to bring dinner home after work and stopped here in the drive-thru, instead of going inside as we normally do (he's more comfortable there as times have changed). Upon arriving home, he discovered only half of his order was given to him! What the what? When he tried to call, he didn't get a live person but an automated message indicating "the mailbox was full." I'm sure he didn't want to talk to voicemail! He decided he was just going to have to drive back to the restaurant and talk to someone, meaning, go inside - something he wanted to avoid! I tried calling ahead for him and got a live person, a woman. Problem was the background noise was so loud I almost couldn't hear her! She knew automatically the reason for my call and, after identifying the missing food and confirming my husband was on his way to get it, her closure was, "OK." What? No apology - nothing?! My husband later told me they remade the food so it would be hot but no other compensation offer was made. That's great for the family members getting THAT food. I guess those waiting at home are stuck with the microwave and NOT fresh food. At least he got a verbal apology. Customer service has gone WAY downhill since I've been coming here for over 10 years. I have 3 Mexican restaurants i could go to to get food from. I chose Santana bcz of the good Santana food I got when I used to live in Santee. Their Santana is great in Santee. This one on Campo Rd. is terrible. They get my order wrong constantly. And now you see the pictures. Wires in my food. I can't eat sour cream but they always put in the anyway. Everyone I e met who has tried it agrees. However, most of the time the chefs don't remember to put the crema in. Which sounds like something minor. I sincerely do not understand all of the negative reviews. Did a bunch of local competitors get together or something to bash this place? I've been coming here for well over a year since I moved to the area. I have eaten here on many, many occasions. The food is consistently good. I've never had anything undercooked, over cooked or poor tasting ad suggested in other reviews. Everyone that works here has always been very personable and I have never experienced a messed up order. Not sure what's going on for all these other people with one star reviews of Santanas, but I absolutely disagree with them. Today was the third time in six months in which I asked for a certain salsa in the drive thru and she did not include it in my bag of food. I went inside to retrieve my salsa and there were no to go cups. I asked for to go cups and also asked for her to just let me know next time so I would be prepared to come inside to get the salsa I requested. Today she told me she was out of that salsa.
